  • Data table to Excel conversion leaves my server side button non responsive in SharePoint WebPart

    We have a web part on which we display some data in a grid. We are exporting grid's underlying datatable to Excel and displaying Open - Save - Cancel dialouge box on click of a server side button. Following is the code we are executing on click of server side button. this.Page.Response.Clear(); this.Page.Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=MyTasks.xls"); this.Page.Response.ContentType = "application/ms-excel"; this.Page.Response.Write("...here goes my well formated html...."); this.Page.Response.End(); Problem is that when i click on Cancel in the diaglouge box then dialogue box to Open/Save excel disappears but all the server side buttons placed on my web part becomes non responsive, on click of any of those buttons their server side click event does not get fired !!! Any idea ? Thanks.

  • Render action return View(); form problem

    I'm new to MVC, so please bear with me. :-) I've got a strongly typed "Story" View. This View (story) can have Comments. I've created two Views (not partials) for my Comments controller "ListStoryComments" and "CreateStoryComment", which do what their names imply. These Views are included in the Story View using RenderAction, e.g.: <!-- List comments --> <h2>All Comments</h2> <% Html.RenderAction("ListStoryComments", "Comments", new { id = Model.Story.Id }); %> <!-- Create new comment --> <% Html.RenderAction("CreateStoryComment", "Comments", new { id = Model.Story.Id }); %> (I pass in the Story id in order to list related comments). All works as I hoped, except, when I post a new comment using the form, it returns the current (parent) View, but the Comments form field is still showing the last content I typed in and the ListStoryComments View isn’t updated to show the new story. Basically, the page is being loaded from cache, as if I had pressed the browser’s back button. If I press f5 it will try to repost the form. If I reload the page manually (reenter the URL in the browser's address bar), and then press f5, I will see my new content and the empty form field, which is my desired result.     I have an update panel on a masterpage and for reasons unbeknown to me our content placeholder is within the updatepanel. But when I click on a button on one of our pages that uses the masterpage the page postsback. If I then click the button for a second time it does not postback and does an ajax call. Im wondering why it does a postback the first time when I dont want it to. Below is how I have the updatepanel set up

  • File transfer eating alot of CPU

    I'm trying to transfer a file over a IHttpHandler, the code is pretty simple. However when i start a single transfer it uses about 20% of the CPU. If i were to scale this to 20 simultaneous transfers the CPU is very high.   • Problem mapping HttpHandler --> HTTP Error 404 Not Found

    I am having problems trying to map an HttpHandler in the web.config. This is the relevant config bit: <httpHandlers> <add verb="*" path="*.hndlr" type="MyAssembly.MyHandler, MyAssembly" validate="false" /> </httpHandlers> When I navigate to http://localhost/myApp/whatever.hndlr I am getting a server error 404 (not found). It's the 1st time I am hooking up an HttpHandler so I might be missing something - any help appreciated! UPDATE: I managed to get it working using both answers so far - who's able to exaplin why it works gets the answer marked!   • adding header row to gridview won't allow you to save the last item row

    I've modified my GridView to have an extra Header row, however that extra row has caused my grid view row count to be incorrect. Basically, when I want to save the Gridview now, it doesn't recognize the last item line. In my current test I have 5 Item Lines, however only 4 of them are being saved.     In the intent of preventing XSS attacks, I am updating a page in which we have a textbox that accepts HTML, stores it in a database and retrieves and renders it at a later time. My understanding is that I can sanitize the HTML using AntiXSS.GetSafeHtmlFragment() method. As long as I do this before storing the HTML in the database, am I covered? Do I need to do anything when the HTML is outputted on a web page? Also, it appears that the white list is kind of a black box. Is there a way to update this based on our requirements?

    Hello All, I am using C# to send an email with an encrypted link. The encrypted portion of the link contains a time stamp that needs to be used to verify if the link is more than 48 hours old. How do I compare an old time to the current time and find out if the old time is more than 48 hours ago? This is what I have now: var hours = DateTime.Now.Ticks - data.DTM.Value.Ticks; //data.DTM = stored time stamp if (hours.CompareTo(48) > 1) //if link is more than 48 hours old, deny access. return View("LinkExpired"); } Comparing ticks seems like it's a very backwards way to do it and I know that the hours.CompareTo would have to be adjusted if I stick with comparing ticks. How can I just get a value for the number of hours that have passed?

As I set ClientId as the id column for this table, I am getting TooManyRowsAffectedException. could you please let me know how to set a composite key at mapping level so that NHibernate can udpate based on ClientId and Type. Something like: Update License SET Used=Used-1 WHERE ClientId='xxx' AND Type=1 Please help. Thanks, Mahesh

    Hi, I'm creating some text boxes on my form programatically which I need to reference later using FindControl. I've put the FindControl instruction in the page load method after the code which creates them but get an error: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." I assume this is because the textbox controls are not created until later in the lifecycle and therefore cannot be referenced from within Page_Load. Can someone advise where in my code-behind I would need to place the FindControl instruction so that it can find these programatically created text boxes?

  • Approach for replacing forms authentication in .NET application

    My question is about an approach, and I am looking for tips or links to help me develop a solution. I have an .NET 4.0 web forms application that works with Forms authentication using the aspnetdb SQL database of users and passwords. A new feature for the application is a new authentication mechanism using single sign on to allow access for thousands of new users. Essentially, when the user logs in through the new single-sign-on method, I will be able to identify them as legitimate users with a role. So I will have something like HttpContext.Current.Session["email_of_authenticated_user"] (their identity) and HttpContext.Current.Session["role_of_authenticated_user"] (their role). Importantly, I don't necessarily want to maintain these users and roles redundantly in the aspnetdb database which will be retired, but I do want to use the session objects above to allow the user to pass through the application as if they were in passing through with forms authentication. I don't think CustomRoleProviders or CustomMemberProviders are helpful since they do not allow for creating session-level users. So my question is how to use the session level user and role that I do have to "mimic" all the forms authentication goodness like enforcing: [System.Security.Permissions.PrincipalPermission(System.Security.Permissions.SecurityAction.Demand, Role = "Student")] or <authorization> <allow users="wilma, barney" /> </authorization> Thanks for any pointers.

  • Flash, parameters, security

    Hi, I have a question: In Flash, I have the ability to save certain info onto the server. Now the problem is the user needs to be authenticated as admin in order to do so. I can't use sessions, since if you work longer than 20 minutes in the Flash application, the session is gone. The way I see it, I have 2 possibilities: 1. passing a parameter (bIsAdmin) to Flash from the Website. 2. Launch a http-get request, to get this value (bIsAdmin) from an ashx handler on application startup, when the session has not yet exired. In my opinion, both possibilities are not really secure... So, Which one is safer, 1 or 2? Or does anybody have a better idea ? In my opinion, 1 is safer, because with 2, you can just switch a packet tamperer in between, and bang, you're admin, with permission to save (or overwrite, =delete) anything.

    I have various classes which all contain address details, i.e. AddressLine1, AddressLine2, AddressLine3, Suburb, Town, etc. On the front end, I need to format the address in a particular way, i.e. AddressLine1<br /> AddressLine2<br /> Suburb State Postcode If AddressLine2 does not exist or empty, don't show it. Quite straight-forward. I am trying to determine the best way to show this info. At the moment, the Address property of each class calls a FormatAddress method which writes out the html string. This exists as a method of the class. My opinion is that any formatting should exist from the front-end control i.e. ascx etc. However, if these DetailClasses need to format the same address info, what would be the best option, also making it easier to maintain?

Sharepoint defaults to a Partially-Trusted environment on dlls executed from the bin folder: How many 'commercially' available WebParts can run in this bin folder (without changing the policy)? The key here is to be able to point to CAS success stories, so that other companies feel that they should also invest in writing CAS-enabled apps

  • CustomValidatation control that fire on multiple control events

    I am trying to create a UserControl that is a composite control for entering Dates. It involves 2 drop down controls (one for month and one for day) and a text box for year. It also has a CustomValidation control that I would like the user of the UserControl to be able to set the ClientValidationFunction property and have it triggered whenever the value in any of the 3 date part controls changes. To hook up each of the 3 controls to the validation control, I use teh AJAX ValidatorHookupControlID method.   • Issues with securing ELMAH file

    I am trying to allow the access to the elmah.axd file for only a perticular login and all others should be denied. Now I logged in again as [email protected] and I was able to access the emlah file now. What is the reason for this behavior?

  • Localizing DataAnnotations Custom Validator

    Hello SO, I'm currently working in an MVC 2 app which has to have everything localized in n-languages (currently 2, none of them english btw). I validate my model classes with DataAnnotations but when I wanted to validate a DateTime field found out that the DataTypeAttribute returns always true, no matter it was a valid date or not (that's because when I enter a random string "foo", the IsValid() method checks against "01/01/0001 ", dont know why). Decided to write my own validator extending ValidationAtribute class: public class DateTimeAttribute : ValidationAttribute { public override bool IsValid(object value) { DateTime result; if (value.ToString().Equals("01/01/0001 0:00:00")) { return false; } return DateTime.TryParse(value.ToString(), out result); } } Now it checks OK when is valid and when it's not, but my problem starts when I try to localize it: [Required(ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(MSG), ErrorMessageResourceName = "INS_DATA_Required")] [CustomValidation.DateTime(ErrorMessageResourceType = typeof(MSG), ErrorMessageResourceName = "INS_DATA_DataType")] public DateTime INS_DATA { get; set; } If I put nothing in the field I get a localized MSG (MSG being my resource class) for the key=INS_DATA_Required but if I put a bad-formatted date I get the "The value 'foo' is not valid for INS_DATA" default message and not the localized MSG. What am I misssing?

Any ideas?

    Inside a webpage I have an Excel download button, which redirects to a webpage that serves the requested Excel file via the application/ms-excel MIME type, which usually results in a file download in the browser. In the webpage, I have the following jQuery code: $(document).ready(function () { $(".div-export .button").click(function () { setBusy(true); }); Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_endRequest(function () { setBusy(false); }); }); Which displays a busy animation while the user waits for the Excel file to be served. Problem is: The animation doesn't end (setBusy(false);) after the file download, because the endRequest event doesn't get fired, probably because of the server redirect. Does anyone have a workaround for this? Edit: The download button is handled in an UpdatePanel.

    I have a strong type view of type List<List<MyViewModelClass>> The outer list will always have two lists of List<MyViewModelClass>. For each of the two outer lists I want to display a group of checkboxes. Each set can have an arbitrary number of choices. My view model class looks similar to this: public class MyViewModelClass { public Area Area { get; set; } public bool IsGeneric { get; set; } public string Code { get; set; } public bool IsChecked { get; set; } } So the final view will look something like: Please select those that apply: First set of choices: x Option 1 x Option 2 x Option 3 etc. Second set of choices: x Second Option 1 x Second Option 2 x Second Option 3 x Second Option 4 etc. Checkboxes should display MyViewModelClass.Area.Name, and their value should be related to MyViewModelClass.Area.Id. Checked state is of course related to MyViewModel.IsChecked. Question I wonder how should I use Html.CheckBox() or Html.CheckBoxFor() helper to display my checkboxes? I have to get these values back to the server on a postback of course. I would like to have my controller action like one of these: public ActionResult ConsumeSelections(List<List<MyViewModelClass>> data) { // process data } public ActionResult ConsumeSelections(List<MyViewModelClass> first, List<MyViewModelClass> second) { // process data } If it makes things simpler, I could make a separate view model type like: public class Options { public List First { get; set; } public List Second { get; set; } } As well as changing my first version of controller action to: public ActionResult ConsumeSelections(Options data) { // process data }

I'd like to send the index of that collection along with the other data so that I can control the each sequence of the iteration.     I am trying out SubSonic to see if it is viable to use on production projects. I seem to have stumbled upon an issue whith regards to updating the database with default values (String and DateTime) when a new column is created. If a new property of DateTime or String is added to an object. public class Bug { public int BugId { get; set; } public string Title { get; set; } public string Overview { get; set; } public DateTime TrackedDate { get; set; } public DateTime RemovedDate { get; set; } } When the code to add that type of object to the database is run var repository = new SimpleRepository(SimpleRepositoryOptions.RunMigrations); repository.Add(new Bug() { Title = "A Bug", Overview = "An Overview", TrackedDate = DateTime.Now }); it creates the following sql: UPDATE Bugs SET RemovedDate=''01/01/1900 00:00:00'' For some reason it is adding double 2 single quotes to each end of the string or DateTime. This is causing the following error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException - Incorrect syntax near '01' I am connecting to SQL Server 2005 Any help would be appreicated as apart from this issue i am finding SubSonic to be a great product.
