  • List/Grid Toggle for Photo Gallery with Shadowbox

    so I'm new to this site, and new to jquery, and javascript as a whole really, but I have very good comprehension of HTML and CSS. For a class in school, I'm making a photo gallery webpage using the Shadowbox plugin. I have that part all down, but one of the requirements is to add some sort of user option that the user can change that will get saved in a cookie. (I haven't gotten to the cookie part yet) For my option, I decided to add a toggle that will switch the view of the page from a grid view (default) with images, to a list view of just the captions of the images. I figured out how to do that, but decided it could probably done in a much simpler fashion with the use of loops. If Top 1 textbox(Volume All Years) text changed, text need to be updated in next 6 inputboxes(Latest 2009 Volume to Latest 2014 Volume). I need javascript or Jquery for this. I will write Js textchanged() or focuschange() for top 1 textbox. So what should I write in focuschage() or textchanged methods(). I changed little bit in code. Now Html will like below.   • superfish dropdowns to be columned when there's many children and no "grandchildren" nodes

  • files get uploaded just before they get cancelled

    Got a little situation here where I am trying to cancel a file's upload. What I have done is stated that if the user clicks on the "Cancel" button, then it will simply remove the iframe so that it does not go to the page where it uploads the files into the server and inserts data into the database. Now this works fine if the user clicks on the "Cancel" button in quickish time the problem I have realised though is that if the user clicks on the "Cancel" button very late, it sometimes doesn't remove the iframe in time meaning that the file has just been uploaded just before the user has clicked on the "Cancel" button. So my question is that is there a way that if the file does somehow get uploaded before the user clicks on the "Cancel" button, that it deletes the data in the database and removes the file from the server?   • New NSData with range of old NSData maintaining bytes.

    I have a fairly large NSData (or NSMutableData if necessary) object which I want to take a small chunk out of and leave the rest. Since I'm working with large amounts of NSData bytes, I don't want to make a big copy, but instead just truncate the existing bytes. Basically: NSData *source: < a few bytes I want to discard + < big chunk of bytes I want to keep NSData *destination: < big chunk of bytes I want to keep There are truncation methods in NSMutableData, but they only truncate the end of it, whereas I want to truncate the beginning. My thoughts are to do this with the methods: - getBytes:range: and - initWithBytesNoCopy:length:freeWhenDone: However, I'm trying to figure out how to manage memory with these. I'm guessing the process will be like this (I've placed ????s where I don't know what to do): void *buffer // Get range of bytes [source getBytes:buffer range:NSMakeRange(myStart, myLength)]; // Somehow (m)alloc the memory which will be freed up in the following step ????? // Release the source, now that I've allocated the bytes [source release]; // Create a new data, recycling the bytes so they don't have to be copied NSData destination = [[NSData alloc] initWithBytesNoCopy:buffer length:myLength freeWhenDone:YES]; Thanks for the help!

  • Fast extraction of a time range from syslog logfile?

    I've got a logfile in the standard syslog format. It looks like this, except with hundreds of lines per second: Jan 11 07:48:46 blahblahblah... Jan 11 07:49:00 blahblahblah... Jan 11 07:50:13 blahblahblah... Jan 11 07:51:22 blahblahblah... Jan 11 07:58:04 blahblahblah... It doesn't roll at exactly midnight, but it'll never have more than two days in it. I often have to extract a timeslice from this file. I'd like to write a general-purpose script for this, that I can call like: $ timegrep 22:30-02:00 /logs/something.log ...and have it pull out the lines from 22:30, onward across the midnight boundary, until 2am the next day. There are a few caveats: I don't want to have to bother typing the date(s) on the command line, just the times. The program should be smart enough to figure them out. The log date format doesn't include the year, so it should guess based on the current year, but nonetheless do the right thing around New Year's Day. I want it to be fast -- it should use the fact that the lines are in order to seek around in the file and use a binary search. Before I spend a bunch of time writing this, does it already exist?

What would a reasonable range of signal strength be when my device is less than 5 feet from my router? House3 is my main router at 61% strength and that seems very low! Reading further on Super User I understand that both the modem-router (Pirelli Alice Gate) and the TL-WR1043ND should support WDS. Are there any tricks to achieve the same result - extending my WiFi range - even changing the firmware to DD-WRT or Tomato etc?

  • Create xml file to be used in wordpress post import

    Alright here is the thing, I have this site that was once wordpress but have been converted into 70+ static pages, the admin is deleted and the whole site is static(which means every page is in index.html), I want to create a script that makes an xml so that I will just have to import it in the new wordpress install. So far, I am able to create an XML but it only imports one post.   • How to improve performance of map that loads new overlay images

    I have inherited a website to maintain that uses a html map overlaying a real map to link specific countries to specific pages. previously it loaded the default map image, then with some javascript it would change the image src to an image with that particular country in a different colour on mouseover and reset the image source back to the original image on mouse out to make maintenance (adding new countries) easier i made the initial map a background image by utilising some CSS for the div tag, and then created new images for each country which only had that countries hightlight so that the images remain fairly small. this works great but theres one issue which is particularly noticeable on slower internet connections when you hover over a country if you dont have the image file in your browser cache or downloaded it wont load the image unless you hover over another country and then back onto the first country - i guess this is due to the image having to manually be downloaded on first hover. My question: is it possible to force the load of these extra images AFTER the page and all the other assets have finished loading so that this behaviour is all but eliminated? the html code for the MAP is as follows: <div class="gtmap"><img id="Image-Maps_6200909211657061" src="<?php echo cdnhttpsCheck();   • UIImagePickerController crashing

    I am developing a project based on iPhone OS 3.2 This project uses UIImagePickerController to pick videos. I have managed to put a video inside the iPad simulator. Is there something wrong with the code or it is just the simulator crashing because it is unable to pick videos? please refrain from recommending me to test on a real device.   • PHP, Codeigniter: How to Set Date/Time based on users timezone/location globally in a web app?

    Hello all, I have just realised if I add a particular record to my MySQL database - it will have a date/time of the server and not the particular user and where they are located which means my search function by date is useless! As they will not be able to search by when they have added it in their timezone rather when it was added in the servers timezone. Is there a way in Codeigniter to globally set time and date specific to a users location (maybe using their IP) and every time I call date() or time() that users timezone is used. What I am actually asking for is probably how to make my application dependent on each users timezone? Maybe its better to store each users timezone in their profile and have a standard time (servers time) and then convert the time to for each user? Thanks all

  • How to best design a date/geographic proximity query on GAE?

    Hi all, I'm building a directory for finding athletic tournaments on GAE with web2py and a Flex front end. The user selects a location, a radius, and a maximum date from a set of choices. I have a basic version of this query implemented, but it's inefficient and slow. One way I know I can improve it is by condensing the many individual queries I'm using to assemble the objects into bulk queries. I just learned that was possible. But I'm also thinking about a more extensive redesign that utilizes memcache. The main problem is that I can't query the datastore by location because GAE won't allow multiple numerical comparison statements (<,<=,=,) in one query. I'm already using one for date, and I'd need TWO to check both latitude and longitude, so it's a no go. Currently, my algorithm looks like this: 1.) Query by date and select 2.) Use destination function from geopy's distance module to find the max and min latitude and longitudes for supplied distance 3.) Loop through results and remove all with lat/lng outside max/min 4.) Loop through again and use distance function to check exact distance, because step 2 will include some areas outside the radius. Remove results outside supplied distance (is this 2/3/4 combination inefficent?) 5.) Assemble many-to-many lists and attach to objects (this is where I need to switch to bulk operations) 6.) Return to client Here's my plan for using memcache.. let me know if I'm way out in left field on this as I have no prior experience with memcache or server caching in general. -Keep a list in the cache filled with "geo objects" that represent all my data. These have five properties: latitude, longitude, event_id, event_type (in anticipation of expanding beyond tournaments), and start_date. This list will be sorted by date. -Also keep a dict of pointers in the cache which represent the start and end indices in the cache for all the date ranges my app uses (next week, 2 weeks, month, 3 months, 6 months, year, 2 years). -Have a scheduled task that updates the pointers daily at 12am. -Add new inserts to the cache as well as the datastore; update pointers. Using this design, the algorithm would now look like: 1.) Use pointers to slice off appropriate chunk of list based on supplied date. 2-4.) Same as above algorithm, except with geo objects 5.) Use bulk operation to select full tournaments using remaining geo objects' event_ids 6.) Assemble many-to-manys 7.) Return to client Thoughts on this approach?
