• When will NAnt reach version 1.0

  I like Nant very much. I do a lot of scripting with NAnt. It is a great little tool. Since NAnt is pre 1.0, when problems occur, I often think if that it is a problem with NAnt itself, but this is not always the case. One funny example: After running the oracle scripts I parsed the log output to make sure there was no problem. I was testing this with a small log file and it was fine. I used the task to load the file contents to a string property and used a regex to search for errors. When I used this script for a large log file, I stopped getting the "build failed" message at the bottom, because I was printing the error messages. Because the "build failed" was hiding at the top, I thought NAnt crashed, but it worked fine. It would be better for NAnt to have a 1.0 release. Any reasons why not?

• Timed email reminder in python

  I have written up a python script that allows a user to input a message, his email and the time and they would like the email sent. This is all stored in a mysql database. However, how do I get the script to execute on the said time and date? will it require a cron job? I mean say at 2:15 on april 20th, the script will search the database for all times of 2:15, and send out those emails. But what about for emails at 2:16? I am using a shared hosting provided, so cant have a continously running script. Thanks

  Context: Master server (Java, TCP) monitoring a list of hosted games (a different machine for the master server and for each hosted game server). Any user can host a game on his PC. Hosted games can last weeks or months. Need: Knowing when hosted game servers are closed or no longer reachable. Restriction 1: Can't rely on hosted servers' "gone offline update message", since those messages may never arrive (power down, Internet link cut, etc.) Restriction 2: I'm not sure about TCP's built-in keep-alive, since it would mean a 24/7 open socket with each hosted server (correct me if I'm wrong) Any thoughts?

  I'm having trouble retrieving 2 artifacts in my Maven/Java/Google App Engine project: com.google.appengine.orm:datanucleus-appengine:jar:1.0.7.final com.google.appengine:appengine-api-1.0-sdk:jar:1.3.4 There's a similar question posted, but each answer brings me back to the same error message. More detail I don't know if it is relevant, but rather than a version number, my original dependency for DataNucleus contained a variable. When i host the cl in a windows service none of the debug messages is showing. Both cl and windows service is in debug there is no tracelisteniners specified so it should use outputstring.I even put a messagebox.show in the cl just to make sure the function is getting called in the windows service and it does. So how do i get the trace/debgug message showing.The service is running as localsystem. What am i missing

Is there any way of showing an input box to the user, and use the value typed there? • How do I fix JavaHL (JNI) Not available after I have changed the logon password on my Mac?

  I have installed Eclipse 3.5.2 and the plugin Subversion JavaHL Native Library Adapter 1.6.9.2 and this worked without any problems. However, this morning I was forced to change the password to logon to my Mac and since then I get the message that "Subversion native library not available" when I try to save any changes. Can anyone help? I have tried to add this line (-Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni) to the eclipse.ini file but this didn´t seem to make any difference. Can anyone help?

  When reading the InputStream of an HttpURLConnection, is there any reason to use one of the following over the other? I've seen both used in examples. In that case, wouldn't I need to read the message length and just read the input stream for that length? And similarly, if NOT using a persistent connection, is the code I included 100% good to go in terms of reading the stream properly?

  I am really new to this (not new to php). Here is my scenario: I have 2 emails accounts. [email protected] and [email protected]. I want to send email to all my users with [email protected] but then "reply to" [email protected] (until here, my php script can handle it). When, the email cant be sent, it sent to [email protected], the error message could be 553 (non existent email ...) etc. My question is: How do I direct all those bounce emails (couldn't sent emails) to [email protected] through a handling script to check for the bounce error codes? What programming language should I be for the "handling script"? What would the "handling script" looks like? Can give a sample? OR:(Big Question) What are the procedures I should follow to handle the bounce email ??

• Android: videocamera, limit length of videos taken

  I'm working in Android and starting the video camera activity using ACTION_VIDEO_CAPTURE. Is there any way I can limit the length (in time) of the videos the user can take? I think this is possible if you use MediaRecorder, but I don't really fancy doing that since it's so much more complicated than using the simple ACTION_VIDEO_CAPTURE. Current code: Intent videoCaptureIntent = new Intent(MediaStore.ACTION_VIDEO_CAPTURE); startActivityForResult(videoCaptureIntent,1); If it's not possible, does anyone know whether I could set a timer (TimerTask?) in Java and then show a Toast message after a certain length of time warning the user that they need to stop filming? (I'm a Java newbie, so I don't know if this is exactly what I need.)

• Debug.WriteLine not working

  In the past, perhaps versions of Visual Studio prior to the 2008 that I am using now, I would do something like this in my VB.NET code: System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("Message") ..and the output would go to the output window. Now it doesn't. Something must first apparently be enabled. If this involves "attaching a debugger", please explain how to do it. It seems to me that it should just work without too much of a fuss. • Safari will not redirect to querystring URL

  I have a site built with PHP that does a redirect after certain actions are performed. header("Location: http://example.com/accountArea/?v=updated"); I then show a message based on the value of the query string value. In safari (and only in Safari) after the redirect, you will only see a blank page. I have tried using absolute URL and relative URL in my redirect, neither work. I was unable to find a solution by searching the web so I hope someone here is familiar with this.

I always held MS coders in fairly high regard and while I may not have agreed with all of their decisions, I always respected their reasoning. So - is there a good reason for code like this that I'm missing, or was this code extract just put together by a shitty developer? I'm hoping there is a good reason, and I'm just blindly missing it. • C# WCF/WebService: Interoperable exception handling.

  I understand that WCF will convert an exception into a fault and send it back as a SOAP message, but I was wondering if this is truly interoperable. I guess I'm having a tough time trying to figure out this possible scenario: Client (Java) calls a WCF Service (LoginService). Server checks for proper authorization, user authorization fails. Server throws an UnauthorizedAccessException. WCF converts this into a Fault somehow. (* - See Below As Well) Client has to be able to know how to read this Fault. I guess I'm just having a tough time understanding how this could still be interoperable because it is expecting Java to know how to translate a SOAP Fault that .NET encodes from an UnauthorizedAccessException. Also, how does .NET actually convert the exception to a fault, what goes in as the fault code, name, etc. Some of the things seem to be "duh"s like perhaps the Fault Name is "UnauthorizedAccessException", but I'd rather know for sure than guess.
