  • sql UPDATE, a calculation is used multiple times, can it just be calculated once?

    UPDATE `play` SET `counter1` = `counter1` + LEAST(`maxchange`, FLOOR(`x` / `y`) ), `counter2` = `counter2` - LEAST(`maxchange`, FLOOR(`x` / `y`) ), `x` = MOD(`x`, `y`) WHERE `x` `y` AND `maxchange` 0 As you can see, " LEAST(`maxchange`, FLOOR(`x` / `y`) ) " is used multiple times, but it should always have the same value. Is there a way to optimize this, to only calculate once? I'm coding this in PHP, for the record.

    Hello again. Im adding an image to my wordpress theme through dreamweaver cs4 and themedreamer. The image will go in the sidebar.php. When I inserted an image it doesnt shows in firefox and explorer. With safari, the image only shows an empty box with a question sign in the middle. Is there a special way to add image in a wordpress template?

  • I want to learn a new language!

    Hi, I'm a college student majoring in computer science. I know java and will be learning C++ the next couple years at school. I want to add another language to my repertoire and have gotten conflicting advice: Ruby, Python, Perl, JavaScript, PHP, AJAX, among others. I was wondering what everyone's opinions were on the relative value of each of these languages in the job market, the ease of learning of each of the languages, and just personal preferences when it comes to the languages mentioned above.     Hello, I'm a little afraid of using Wordpress because of his connotation "all made", plus my website is 100% hand coded, actually, i use the phpBB but it's not what I want cause visitors have to go out of the website to go to the forum to see the news. So how/what can I do to have my own news system management (publish/review/moderate comments).... Are there tools (i mean except WYSIWYG) / PHP class I can use to implement myself ?   • zend framework version trouble

    Hi, am 100% sure I downloaded and extracted version 1.8 of ZF, but then when I go to console and typed "zf show version" it says am using 1.9.6, yes I do have 1.9.6 but it is "Compressed" and untouched, how could this be possible ?, I double checked my system variables, there's no evidence of ZF there. I also checked my php.ini file, it's pointed to the location of the extracted 1.8 ZF.. please help. this is my first attempt in using ZF

  • What does Apache need to support both mysqli and PDO?

    I'm considering changing some PHP code to use PDO for database access instead of mysqli (because the PDO syntax makes more sense to me and is database-agnostic). To do that, I'd need both methods to work while I'm making the changeover. My problem is this: so far, either one or the other method will crash Apache. Right now I'm using XAMPP in Windows XP, and PHP Version 5.2.8. Mysqli works fine, and so does this: $dbc = new PDO("mysql:host=$hostname;dbname=$dbname", $username, $password); echo 'Connected to database'; $sql = "SELECT * FROM `employee`"; But this line makes Apache crash: $dbc->query($sql); I don't want to redo my entire Apache or XAMPP installation, but I'd like for PDO to work. So I tried updating libmysql.dll from here, as oddvibes recommended here. That made my simple PDO query work, but then mysqli queries crashed Apache. (I also tried the suggestion after that one, to update php_pdo_mysql.dll and php_pdo.dll, to no effect.) Test Case I created this test script to compare PDO vs mysqli. With the old copy of libmysql.dll, it crashes if $use_pdo is true and doesn't if it's false. Furthermore, he shows the use of two PHP files - should these be combined into one file? Any help with this would be appreciated (examples would be even better).

    I have done this in all my previous versions, but I can't get it working in CS4. I have updated the MMDocumentTypes.xml file to add inc to the php section. Restarting Dreamweaver does not help. I even updated the Extensions.txt file, and that still does not work. Has anyone had this issue?

    I am trying to parse an xml file with a soap envelope from a web service using php. I would like to use SoapClient, but I get an error back that 'page must be viewed over secure channel SSL', which I think is an issue on their end, so I gave up on that. Currently I am using curl to get a result back. What I need is the attributes in the last tag that starts with _x0023_temp_list. I'm not sure if the tag is always going to be named that, so I will probably also have to deal with getting attributes from the tag with the xs namespace as well. I've read quite a few other posts and have tried several different methods of getting the info and so far nothing has seemed to work.
