• IIS 7.5 doesn't load static html pages

  There is an IIS 7.5 freshly installed on a dedicated server. ASP.NET 4.0 Web app copied to its folder, new website is created on its own IP on post 80, IIS_IUSR and IUSR accounts have read/execute rights on site's folder, the site is assigned to its own Integrated app pool with 4.0 .NET (I tried Classic pool with the same results). The problem: when I try to access this web site, browser only loads content generated by .NET resources such as aspx pages, .axd files, etc. Static images, static js, css and html files are in the page source but IIS doesn't serve them. Dev tools in all browsers complain that all those static resources have been sent by the server with wrong content type (plain text instead of image, styles, etc). What do I do wrong?

• 403 Forbidden when Deploying asp.net 4.0 site to IIS 7

  So I have an EC2 instance running, the URL NoWeatherSurprises.com I have the DNS pointing there, and I set up a new site in IIS 7 and pointed it to a folder. I used Visual Studios Web Developer 2010 express to publish to this folder. It now has the binaries and such. However if I go to NoWeatherSurprises.com I get the welcome to IIS 7 screen. I'd expect to go to my application If I navigate to http://noweathersurprises.com/weather/ [weather was the folder I published to under wwwroot] I get a 403 forbidden. I have no idea why, I am guessing that it is trying to do a directory listing or something instead of launching my MVC Application. So 2 problems in summary. It is not pointing the domain to the folder directly and I need to add /weather I am getting a 403 forbidden instead of the results of my home controller with the index action. I am new to IIS 7, I had been using IIS 6 and had a lot less trouble setting it up, but I suspect that's my own fault and i am just missing something. Thanks in advance for any help

• Classic ASP on large memory server

  I have a client with a large ASP app that apparently is fairly memory intensive. I’m helping them migrate to new hardware they have running Win2k8 R2. They have 4 physical servers with 32gb of RAM each. I’m making the assumption that ASP apps run as a x32 process. So I see that we have two options: On the application pool enable web gardens. Use the physical servers as VM hosts and split the box into say 4 web servers each. Any thoughts on which path will provide us better performance? I’m just not really sure how ASP will handle a machine with lots of memory, and I’m worried it won’t really be able to address the memory well. (you can ignore all the obvious stuff like increased maintenance of 16 web servers vs 4, or the flexibility virtualization gets us over physical servers, etc)

  I have IIS set up on my server, but also Apache x2 (other products which comes with their own servers, cannot be integrated into IIS.) Is it possible for me to "port-forward" certain domains on port 80 (that IIS handles) to those other ports? For instance: www.vkarlsen.no - IIS svn.vkarlsen.no - port 81 on same machine teamcity.vkarlsen.no - port 82 on same machine Or do I just need to set up those domains and redirect to the correct port? I'd like the domain name and url to be transparent to the user, but perhaps that won't work. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I believe self-signed certificates are a bad idea so i was wondering how this actually work to have one installed on my server. This server is currently being accessed being outside.. this is basically for learning/pratical purpose. So if i understand correctly, it is possible OR do we have to buy an SSL certificate somewhere and install it on the server for use ? (by importing it in IIS) what are the actual brief steps ?   I've installed SQL Server 2005 with Reporting Services on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and when I try to configure it when clicking on "Windows Service Identity" I get this error message: There was an error while switching panels. The most likely cause is an error retrieving WMI properties. The exception details are: InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'. Parameter name: SelectedIndex Here is a screenshot: EDIT: This problem disappeared after I installed SP3 for SQL Server. I have problems on the next panes though.

  Ok, I'm having the exact same problem as in this question http://serverfault.com/questions/59635/outbound-ftp-on-server-2008-r2-stalls but the accepted answer didn't help me much... I followed the third step of this http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/309/configuring-ftp-firewall-settings/ guide in order to configure my firewall for FTP, and I am able to authenticate, however, the data channel doesn't seem to be passing through the firewall. If I disable the firewall, everything works fine. Hope someone can help me, as this is really starting to annoy me. Best regards, x3ro

  I am brand new to URL rewriting. I am using an Apache rewriting module on IIS 7.5 (I think). Either way, I am able to do rewrites successfully, but am having trouble on a few key things. I want this pretty url to rewrite to the this ugly url: mydomain.com/bike/1234 (pretty) mydomain.com/index.cfm?Section=Bike&BikeID=1234 (ugly) This works great with this rule: RewriteRule ^bike/([0-9]+)$ /index.cfm?Section=Bike&BikeID$1 Issue #1 I want to be able to add a description and have it go to exactly the same place, so that the useful info is completely ignored by my application. mydomain.com/bike/1234/a-really-great-bike (pretty and useful) mydomain.com/index.cfm?Section=Bike&BikeID=1234 Issue #2 I need to be able to add a second or third parameter and value to the url to get extra info for the db, like this: mydomain.com/bike/1234/5678 mydomain.com/index.cfm?Section=Bike&BikeID=1234&FeatureID=5678 This works using this rule: RewriteRule ^bike/([0-9]+)/([0-9]+)$ /index.cfm?Section=Bike&BikeID=$1&FeatureID=$2 Again, I need to add some extra info, like in the first example: mydomain.com/bike/1234/5678/a-really-great-bike (pretty and useful) mydomain.com/index.cfm?Section=Bike&BikeID=1234&FeatureID=5678 So, how can I combine these rules so that I can have one or two or three parameters and any of the "useful words" are completely ignored?

  I'm trying to get Cyrus IMAP (v 2.2 on Ubuntu 9.04) setup and working, but I'm having a bit of trouble getting the login working correctly. I've created a mailbox for my test user "nrahl": cm user/nrahl and then created a password: $ saslpasswd2 nrahl I'm attempting to connect to the mailbox using Thunderbird. I'm using the machine's LAN IP address as the host, and "nrahl" as the username. It connects to the server and prompts me for the password. • Ubuntu 14.04 disk utility SMART self-test failed threshold not exceeded

  I'm using the "Disks" program in Ubuntu 14.04 (live DVD) to assess the health of a drive I suspect is failing. However, when I first opened the program, it showed that the overall health was OK and all assessments are OK as well. I then tried to run a short self-test, but now the overall assessment shows a red "SELF-TEST FAILED". In the details section it says "Last self-test failed (read)" and "threshold not exceeded". All individual assessments are still OK though!! What I don't understand is, does that mean that the test executed and determined that the drive is a goner, or does it mean that the test didn't actually execute properly?

  I have a windows 7 machine 64 bit and IIS 7 I have a default website on the IIS.Its binding is {IP: All Unassigned , Port:80 , Host Name : blank} I have added a new asp.net application to that website,mapped physical path, have set the virtual path as "MyWebApp". Application pool for "MyWebApp" is "DefaultAppPool" {.Net Framework: 4.0 ; Managed Pipeline Mode: Classic} The problem I am facing is I can access the website using http://localhost, http://IP.IP.IP.IP and http://MyMachineName But I can not access the Application other than using http://localhost/MyWebApp What should I do if I want to access the webapp using http://MyMachineName/MyWebApp OR http://IP.IP.IP.IP/MyWebApp Please note : I have already created an inbound rule to allow all HTTP traffic for port 80 in firewall settings.

One adapter is connected to ISP and the other one connected to HUB/Switch. Other computers working as clients are connected to the same HUB/Switch to which the server is connected. IP Printers, IP scanners, IP camera are also connected to the same HUB/Switch. Note: I am a newbie. I only know how to plug RJ-45 sockets and assembly computer peripherals. Objective I want to establish the following: Each client can access the internet, printers, scanners after it has been successfully authenticated by the server. Unauthenticated clients cannot access the internet, printers, etc. The server hosts a local site. Clients can browse internally using a private domain www.company.com. If the same domain name has been used by other on the internet, my private domain must override the public domain.

  Hi, On my SQL server 2008, i have a SQL agent job to restore a database on nightly basis. Procedure: find latest backup on other server Kill all conenction to the destination database Restore destination database with replace, recovery It failed last weekend because the database was being used by a system process (spid 11 checkpoint). since I couldnt kill the system process, I fixed this by restarting sql server. It failed this weekend as well with same error (checkpint process in this database as from sp_who) and when I run: SELECT session_id,request_id,command,status,start_time FROM sys.dm_exec_requests WHERE session_id = 11 It shows: 11 0 CHECKPOINT background 2010-04-06 10:17:49.103 I cant restart the server every time it fails. • Why does calling abort() on ajax request cause error in ASP.Net MVC (IE8)

  I use jquery to post to an MVC controller action that returns a table of information. The user of the page triggers this by clicking on various links. In the event the user decides to click a bunch of these links in quick succession I wanted to cancel any previous ajax request that may not have finished. I've found that when I do this (although its fine from the client's POV) I will get errors on the web application saying that "The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter srtCol of non-nullable type 'System.Int32'" Now the ajax post deffinately passes in all the parameters, and if I don't try and cancel the ajax request it works just fine. But if I do cancel the request by calling abort() on the XMLHttpRequest object that ajax() returns before it finishes I get the error from ASP.Net MVC. Example: //Cancel any pevious request if (req) { req.abort(); req = null; } //Make new request req= $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: "/Myapp/GetTbl", data: {srtCol: srt, view: viewID}, success: OnSuccess, error: OnError, dataType: "html" }); I've noticed this only happen is IE8. In FF it seems to not cuase a problem. Does anyone know how to cancel an ajax request in IE8 without causing errors for MVC? Thanks for any help.

  I'm attempting to get an FTP client written in perl to transfer files from an IIS 7.5 FTP server using passive mode. I've configured the FTP server as per instructions and have also configured Windows Firewall to allow this type of traffic. I have validated that the firewall is behaviong correctly by checking to ensure there are no blocked packets in the logs. I have verified the that FTP control channel is being opened on Port 21. I believe the client is being told by IIS which port to connect on for passive mode and IIS is refusing to allow this connection. • IIS 7.5 error 500 in fastcgi module after upgrading wordpress to 3.0.2

  I am running multiple wordpress blogs on the following setup: Server 2008 R2; IIS 7.5; PHP 5.3.3; MySQL 5.0.7; I upgraded my wordpress install from 2.9.2 to 3.0.2 (on 2 different sites) today and the upgrade went fine. I can serve .php pages without errors, log into the admin system etc. I can browse my blog by going directly to mywebsite.com/index.php, but when I try to go to mywebsite.com (without the index.php) I get he below 500 error. I reset IIS, removed and re-attached the default document, but I am running out of ideas. Please if anyone has a solution for this that would be great. • How do I minor upgrade MySQL on Windows?

  I currently have MySQL 5.1.35 installed on a Windows 2008 server via the MSI installer. I need to upgrade to the latest 5.1.44 to fix a bug, but docs were not clear on how to do this. I ran the MSI installer, but it did not give me any upgrade option so I quit it. I am weary because it's a production machine with many PHP websites running on it. Also, my data directory is not the default one, it's kept on another partition. How can I upgrade it? Thanks for any help.

• Forms authentication failed between web server and sql server

  I've actually found the solution, but I'm trying to understand why it failed, and why my solution fixed the problem. We have an application that uses forms authentication between a web server and sql server, web server runs server 2008, sql server runs 2008 r2, and sql server 2008. In august the sql server was patched with .net 3.5.1, the web server was untouched, and the forms authentication continued to work. 1 week ago we virtualized the web server onto our vSphere server because of failing hardware. Afterwards the form authentication failed with event code 4005, detail code 50201, The ticket supplied was invalid (on the sql server). In fact the sql server started generating Schannel errors and began blue screening 3-4 times a day. At this point I touched the sql server for the first time(ever), the errors were non specific, any reference to them I could find had to do with either zone alarm(which we don't run), or memory errors. So I applied service pack 1, which stopped the blue screening, but did not fix the forms authentication. At this point we had a work around, so we put it on the back burner while we completed another project, and I was able to get back on it last night. First thing was to adjust some code in the webconfig file on the sql server, nothing, next was regenerate and change out the machine key, still no change. Update the DNS servers, no change. Finally I went through and installed all windows updates, two reboots, (over RDP installed a network card driver which failed, and did not have my server room key, that was fun). After that, forms authentication was working again. And the sql server stopped generating as many errors, I've gotten two schannel errors since then. In short, forms authentication began failing when the web server was cloned onto a virtual machine, which caused the sql server to blue sceen? and forms authentication to fail. And could only be fixed by applying patches to the sql server?(I'm wishing I had patched the servers one at a time so I could know for sure which patch on which server fixed it). My question is why did it fail, and why did patching fix it? I hate fixing something without fully understanding the why and how.

Mail sending is failed then with 2010-03-21 12:20:01 login authenticator failed for localhost [127.0.0.1]: 535 Incorrect authentication data On the other hand, when I am sending mail with telnet by: $ telnet localhost 25 ehlo ... mail from:... rcpt to:... data: ... it works perfectly. Any clues?

• Uninstall IIS on Windows 7

  I've just rebuilt my development machine and installed IIS. I then installed the Web Deployment tool and used this to restore my previously-backed-up websites to the clean machine. Unfortunately the restoration didn't work correctly/fully. I couldn't easily correct the problem, so I decided to uninstall/reinstall IIS and recreate the sites manually. I uninstalled IIS and rebooted, but there was still plenty of stuff left around such as various files in /windows/system32/inetsrv/ which I tried to delete manually (with limited success!). I rebooted again and tried to reinstall IIS - it reported an error (no meaningful message) and requested another reboot. The event log includes the following errors: The World Wide Web Publishing Service (WWW Service) did not register the URL prefix http://*:80/gallery for site 1. The site has been disabled. and Unable to bind to the underlying transport for [::]:80. The IP Listen-Only list may contain a reference to an interface which may not exist on this machine. I'd like to avoid another rebuild. Can I completely remove IIS, such that I can reinstall it from scratch? Or can I 'fix' the current setup so that IIS will reinstall over what is already there?

  I need to configure IIS 7.5 (Server 2008 R2) to be FIPS 140.2 compliant. Specifically, this involves disabling all SSL protocols other than TLS 1.0. I have set the following registry keys: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\SSL 2.0\Server HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\SSL 3.0\Server HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols\PCT 1.0\Server to Enabled(DWORD) = 0 as per this KB, but SSL Labs' checker says "SSL 2.0+ Upgrade Support" is enabled. (Everything other than that and TLS 1.0 is not available, so we're getting somewhere). It also says "FIPS ready - no" - presumably because SSL 2.0+ Upgrade Support is still enabled. serversniff.net says SSL 2.0 is turned off, and doesn't say anything about SSL 2.0+ Upgrade Support. Could this be an anomaly with SSL Labs' checker?
