How can I open a new browser tab in ASP.NET and write to it? I don't want to redirect to a page but I want to write/output the content directly from source.
Is it advisable to implement url routing for an asp.net(webforms) website which is one year old... What are the factors to be considered before implementing....

Hello Guys,
We have been using PHP/MySQL for our web application which has been growing a lot, the database is around 4-5GB and one of the table is 2GB sometimes, hence slowing down whenever any queries to that table is called.
Should we just try to optimize, or are we using MySQL above its limit? Will switching our web app to .NET/MSSQL resolve the issues?
Thanks
I am using .net winforms.
I am having groupBox it contains set of controls like textbox,dropdown....
How to control the filds which is avilable in groupBox?
Example:
I need to clear all the contol fields.
The .NET framework provides a few handy general-use delegates for common tasks, such as Predicate<T> and EventHandler<T>.
Is there a built-in delegate for the equivalent of CompareTo()?
The signature might be something like this:
delegate int Comparison<T>(T x, T y);
This is to implement sorting in such a way that I can provide a lambda expression for the actual sort routine (ListView.ListViewItemSorter, specifically), so any other approaches welcome.
Hi everybody,
I need to write an ASP.NET application which must handle a very large number of transactions per second - as many as 5000 users may transact at the same time. I think I will use WCF in back to communicate with SQL server. But in front, can IIS handle 5000 users at the same time effectively, or is there any simple way to host my application outside of IIS?
I am not sure about the semantic of "ApplicationDirectory" membership condition. I am set it up in the .NET Framework 2.0 configuration tool. All the other membership conditions such as strong name, hash, need me to input some criterias, only the Application Directory has not. How to use it? Could someone give an explanation by example? Many thanks.
I know you can do it with an WMI event or overriding WndProc and looking for the right messages, but i was wondering if there wasn't something hidden in the net framework that makes this task easyer.
Hi,
I have a C# application which request .net 2 on client system. I like to replace the error message box in case if .net2 is not detected with ruuning an executable program which I have a written how do not request .net2.
I need to encrypt and decrypt a querystring in ASP.NET.
The querystring might look something like this:
http://www.mysite.com/report.aspx?id=12345&year=2008
How do I go about encrypting the entire querystring so that it looks something like the following?
http://www.mysite.com/report.aspx?crypt=asldjfaf32as98df8a
And then, of course, how to I decrypt it? What's the best encryption to use for something like this? TripleDES?
There is a lot of chatter about the improvements HTML5 is about to unleash on the web development world. How will this new standard affect web dev frameworks like Faces, Struts, or even ASP.NET? How long will it take them to 'catch up' in order to emit such code? Will controls get deprecated?
In Asp.net (c#),i'm not able to catch exception(FileNotFoundException) properly... i don't know the reason..Actually File s not there..But catch statement fails to catch the exception..
here is the code..
try
{
System.Drawing.Image imgg1 = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(Server.MapPath("").ToString() + "\\images\\img1.jpg");
}
catch (FileNotFoundException)
{
Response.Write("<script>alert('Please Select and upload Student's Photo');</script>");
}
I saw couple of SO questions (SO) concerning SQL-server. For SQL-server there was no decent solution. All were hacks/workarounds. What about Oracle? Is it same answer (Paremeterizing each value)? Any Oracle example without LINQ would be appreciated (I have .NET 2.0).
Thanks & BR -Matti
Rather a simple question. But the implications are vast.
Over the last few weeks I've been reading a lot of material about n-tier architecture and it's implementation in the .NET world. The problem is I couldn't find a relevant sample for Winforms with Linq (linq is the way to go for BLL right?).
How did you guys manage to grasp the n-tier concept? Books, articles, relevant samples etc.
I would like to find out from .NET code whether DirectX 10 is supported on the machine, preferably without using managed DirectX or XNA assemblies.
Thank you in advance!
Do we know the algorithm that asp.net uses to create the authentication cookie (when using forms authentication?)
Can we basically create our own copy implementation? if so, how?
What does it use to generate the encrypted cookie value, I know it uses whatever you pass into the SetAuthCookie call (which is usually the userID/username).
In a ASP.NET program is there a location where I can I write temporary files? Assuming a default IIS installation, the program running under anonymous user?
Thank you
Hello all,
my question is stated in the title. How exactly do I do that?
I have an open connection and I want to "hijack" it and send my custom messages through it. From my understanding that is done with sockets and their handlers.
Any language would do but C#.NET is preferred.
Thank you
