  • Prevent drop down list options scrolling on Windows in SWT

    - by parxier
One of the drop down lists in my Java SWT application has 8 fixed options. When I click on it only 5 first options are visible and I have to scroll the list down to view the rest. Is there any way to force it to make all options visible without having to scroll down? There is another similar .NET application that has same drop down list with the same options and they all are visible without having to scroll down!

    - by TreeUK
I'm running eclipse with the Blackberry Java Plug-in, working on a 1.4.5 Blackberry project. The project has been building and debugging in the emulator normally until I started getting: A prompt saying "[projectname].debug file is missing". A message in the Blackberry Packaging Console saying "I/O Error: Cannot find program "jar": CreateProcess error=2." Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

  • Disable JPanel with visual effect

    - by Ryan
I'm looking for a good way to disable a JPanel. I'm using a MVC design for a Java Swing GUI. I want the JPanel to be disabled while the model is processing stuff. I've tried setEnabled(false). That disables user input on the JPanel, but I'd like it to be grayed out to add a more visual effect. Thanks in advance!

  • Why do some APIs provide mostly interfaces, not classes?

    - by Lord Torgamus
Some Java APIs provide a large number of interfaces and few classes. For example, the Stellent/Oracle UCM API is composed of roughly 80% interfaces/20% classes, and many of the classes are just exceptions. What is the technical reason for preferring interfaces to classes? Is it just an effort to minimize coupling? To improve encapsulation/information hiding? Something else?

  • How does polymorph ambiguity distinction work?

    - by Pentius
Given I have a class with two constructors: public class TestClass { ObjectOne o1; ObjectTwo o2; public TestClass(ObjectOne o1) { // .. } public TestClass(ObjectTwo o2) { // .. } } What happens, if I call: new TestClass(null); How to determine the correct method to call? And who determines that? Are there differences between Java and other OOP languages?

  • "ejb not bound" -- What could be the problem?

    - by Bernhard V
Hi! When I'm running my program, I get the following error: ... nested exception is javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: ejb not bound The error occurs at the start up when Java wants to create a certain bean. The Bean is a SimpleRemoteStatelessSessionProxyFactoryBean. Could it be that I ain't got the rights to access the naming provider URL although I can ping it? When accessing the bean on my local JBoss there are no problems.

  • Secure WS client with UsernameToken(SOAP security header)

    - by user79163
Hi, I'm trying to secure my WS client to be able to call the WS. My code looks like this: SendSmsService smsService = new SendSmsService(); SendSms sendSMS = smsService.getSendSms(); BindingProvider stub = (BindingProvider)sendSMS; //Override endpoint with local copy of wsdl. String URL ="";//here is the wsdl url Map<String,Object> requestContext = stub.getRequestContext(); requestContext.put(BindingProvider.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY, URL); //Set usernametoken URL fileURL = loader.getResource("client-config.xml"); File file = new File(fileURL.getFile()); FileInputStream clientConfig = null; try { clientConfig = new FileInputStream(file); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } XWSSecurityConfiguration config = null; try { config = SecurityConfigurationFactory.newXWSSecurityConfiguration(clientConfig); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); log.warn("Exception: "+e.getMessage()); } requestContext.put(XWSSecurityConfiguration.MESSAGE_SECURITY_CONFIGURATION, config); //Invoke the web service String requestId = null; try { requestId = sendSMS.sendSms(addresses, senderName, charging, message, receiptRequest); } catch (PolicyException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } catch (ServiceException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } and the config file looks like this: <xwss:JAXRPCSecurity xmlns:xwss="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/xwss/config" optimize="true"> <xwss:Service> <xwss:SecurityConfiguration dumpMessages="true" xmlns:xwss="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/xwss/config"> <xwss:UsernameToken name="username" password="password> </xwss:SecurityConfiguration> </xwss:Service> <xwss:SecurityEnvironmentHandler> util.SecurityEnvironmentHandler </xwss:SecurityEnvironmentHandler> </xwss:JAXRPCSecurity> The SecurityEnviromentHandler is a dummy class that implements javax.security.auth.callback.CallbackHandler. Authentication must be in compliance with Oasis Web Services Security Username Token Profile 1.0. But I'm constantly getting "Security header not valid" error. Where am I going wrong, can anyone tell me. I used wsimport(JAX_WS 2.1 to generate classes for my client) Note:Only thing I know about this WS is WSDL URL and user&pass for authentication

  • Hiding specific files in TextMate

    - by brad
I do a lot of JRuby on Rails apps, and we have a fair amount of Java .jar dependencies. These become quite annoying in textmate as it really muddies up my lib directory, and I never (obviously) need to actually open these files. Can someone tell me how I might hide .jar files from my file listing in Textmate??

  • Eclipse javascript character encoding

    - by Bardock
Hi, I'd like to display some language specific characters from javascript but I can't. My app is a Java webapp and the front end is jQuery. All the characters that are sended from the server - in a JSP or with AJAX - are displayed properly. When I want to display some text hardcoded in to the javascript file it's broken. I'm using Eclipse. In the JSP's header I use: <%@ page language="java" contentType="text/html; charset=UTF-8" pageEncoding="UTF-8"%> I've tried this (charset in the script element) too: <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"><c:import url="/JS/mainJS.js" /></script> In my Eclipse I've set the project properties / text file encoding to UTF-8 AND I've checked the JS files' resource properties / text file encoding that is UTF-8 too. But when I try this: $.test = function(){ var s = "éééáááuuuu"; alert(s); } I get: éééáááűűűű The strange thing is that: When I try in a separate html file (in the same project), It's working: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>Test</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <style type="text/css"> body {background: #c0c0c0;} </style> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ var s = "éááuuúúú"; $("#console").text(s); alert(s); }) </script> </head> <body> <div id="console"></div> </body> </html> Even if I DO NOT use any content type and page encoding settings. What is the problem? What shall I do? (I'm using Apache Tomcat integrated in Eclipse) Thanks in advance!
