  • What is the difference between a private and public funtion?

    - by Kyle
    I am a new programmer, and I started in C and am now starting to enjoy JavaScript and a tiny bit of PHP more. Lately I've heard the terms 'private' and 'public' functions a lot. Could anybody give an explanation of the both and how they are of use to a programmer? And I'm probably totally wrong here... but is a (function(){}) in javascript a private function?

  • Zend Framework question (again) Do images, mp3s, scripts, etc, al just go in public folder?

    - by Joel
    I guess these are all questions that everyone must just know, because I'm not seeing this in the documentation :-D I understand that the public folder is the folder that the world has access to. I know it is the case with the css folder, but in migrating a traditional php website over, will my /images folder, /js folder /mp3s, etc Will those all just also be public folders that will be accessed via the layout or view.phtml pages? Thanks!

  • How to transform a cached XML via XSL?

    - by TruMan1
    I have a PHP script that caches a remote XML file. I want to XSL transform it before caching, but don't know how to do this: <?php // Set this to your link Id $linkId = "0oiy8Plr697u3puyJy9VTUWfPrCEvEgJR"; // Set this to a directory that has write permissions // for this script $cacheDir = "temp/"; $cachetime = 15 * 60; // 15 minutes // Do not change anything below this line // unless you are absolutely sure $feedUrl="http://mydomain.com/messageService/guestlinkservlet?glId="; $cachefile = $cacheDir .$linkId.".xml"; header('Content-type: text/xml'); // Send from the cache if $cachetime is not exceeded if (file_exists($cachefile) && (time() - $cachetime < filemtime($cachefile))) { include($cachefile); echo "<!-- Cached ".date('jS F Y H:i', filemtime($cachefile))." -->\n"; exit; } $contents = file_get_contents($feedUrl . $linkId); // show the contents of the XML file echo $contents; // write it to the cache $fp = fopen($cachefile, 'w'); fwrite($fp, $contents); fclose($fp); ?> This is the XSL string I want to use to transform it: <xsl:template match="/"> <kml xmlns="http://www.opengis.net/kml/2.2"> <Document> <xsl:apply-templates select="messageList" /> </Document> </kml> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="messageList"> <name>My Generated KML</name> <xsl:apply-templates select="message" /> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="message"> <Placemark> <name><xsl:value-of select="esnName" /></name> <Point> <coordinates> <xsl:value-of select="latitude" />,<xsl:value-of select="longitude" /> </coordinates> </Point> </Placemark> </xsl:template> I want to actually transform XML input and save/return a KML format. Can someone please help adjust this script? This was given to me and I am a little new to it.

  • Security concerns for a multi-language site.

    - by The Rook
    I am converting a PHP MySQL web application written for English language into a Multi-Language site. Do you know any vulnerabilities that affect web applications in another language? Or perhaps vulnerabilities that could be introduced in the conversion of code base to support multiple languages. (If you know any vulnerabilities of this type in another language I'll give you a +1)

  • Procedure in converting int to decimal data type?

    - by Fedor
    I have an int(11) column which is used to store money. I read some of the answers on SO and it seems I just need to update it to be a decimal (19,4) data type. Are there any gotchas I should know about before I actually do the converting? My application is in PHP/Zend and I'm not using an ORM so I doubt I would need to update any sort of class to consistently identify the data type.

  • Why is phpseclib producing incompatible certs?

    - by chacham15
    Why is it that when I try to use a certificate/key pair generated from phpseclib, the OpenSSL server code errors out? Certs/Keys generated from OpenSSL work fine. How do I fix this? Certificate/Key Generation taken straight from phpseclib documentation: <?php include('File/X509.php'); include('Crypt/RSA.php'); // create private key / x.509 cert for stunnel / website $privKey = new Crypt_RSA(); extract($privKey-createKey()); $privKey-loadKey($privatekey); $pubKey = new Crypt_RSA(); $pubKey-loadKey($publickey); $pubKey-setPublicKey(); $subject = new File_X509(); $subject-setDNProp('id-at-organizationName', 'phpseclib demo cert'); //$subject-removeDNProp('id-at-organizationName'); $subject-setPublicKey($pubKey); $issuer = new File_X509(); $issuer-setPrivateKey($privKey); $issuer-setDN($subject-getDN()); $x509 = new File_X509(); //$x509-setStartDate('-1 month'); // default: now //$x509-setEndDate('+1 year'); // default: +1 year $result = $x509-sign($issuer, $subject); echo "the stunnel.pem contents are as follows:\r\n\r\n"; echo $privKey-getPrivateKey(); echo "\r\n"; echo $x509-saveX509($result); echo "\r\n"; ?   • Extract new image dimensions from timthumb

    - by jonthoughtit
    I'm using timthumb to resize my images because it scales them nicely if I only enter one of the dimensions. However I want to know if it's possible to extract the new resized image's dimensions so that I can add that dynamically to the img tag attributes. I tried this with no luck: $fullpath = '/lib/timthumb.php?src='.$image.'&w=100'; $my_image = array_values(getimagesize($fullpath)); list($width, $height, $type, $attr) = $my_image; Any ideas?

    I am using wget to mirror website using this code $ wget \ --recursive \ --no-clobber \ --page-requisites \ --html-extension \ --convert-links \ --restrict-file-names=windows \ --domains website.org \ --no-parent \ www.website.org/tutorials/html/ The next time I run it it starts downloading the same files again, however I want only the changed files to be downloaded next time. I am open to use any other tool or script(preferably PHP,Curl) apart from using wget.

  • rawurlencode() and urlencode() not working in CodeIgniter

    - by Keith Chason
    I am trying to encode a string into a safe url for generic purposes, and neither rawurlencode() nor urlencode() work when using CodeIgniter. I have used them and they work pefectly fine with straight PHP, but for whatever reason, it doesn't work. I haven't been able to find any others with this problem and thus no solution. Code: <a href="/search/degree/<?=rawurlencode($row->degree)?>" class="element_link"><?=$row->degree?></a>
