• Are free operator->* overloads evil?

  I was perusing section 13.5 after refuting the notion that built-in operators do not participate in overload resolution, and noticed that there is no section on operator->*. It is just a generic binary operator. Its brethren, operator->, operator*, and operator[], are all required to be non-static member functions. This precludes definition of a free function overload to an operator commonly used to obtain a reference from an object. But the uncommon operator->* is left out. In particular, operator[] has many similarities. It is binary (they missed a golden opportunity to make it n-ary), and it accepts some kind of container on the left and some kind of locator on the right. Its special-rules section, 13.5.5, doesn't seem to have any actual effect except to outlaw free functions. (And that restriction even precludes support for commutativity!) It has some forms on it to send in contact information, mailing list submissions, etc. Perhaps hours/days after an upload to the site I found that the main index page had new code in it that I had not placed there that contained a hidden bunch of links in a invisible div. • Why is my interface is not showing when i run the project?

• how to do android image animation

  This is a bit of a continuation of a previous question. Now I'm trying to make a call to an AJAX enabled web service which I have defined within the ASP.NET MVC application (i.e. the MovieService.svc). But the service is never being called in my getMovies javascript function. This same technique of calling the AJAX web service works ok if I try it in a non ASP.NET MVC application, so it makes me wonder if maybe the ASP MVC routes are interfering with things somehow when it tries to make the AJAX web service call. Do you have any idea why my web service isn't getting called? • jQuery .append() not working in IE, Safari, and Chrome

  So I'm using jQuery's AJAX function to read some XML for me and it's worked just fine. But now I'm trying to manipulate the display property of 4 different dynamically generated divs. The size and x/y of the divs are determined by the XML and are parsed through. My problem lies in the face that these divs either aren't being generated or just don't show up in IE, Safari, and Chrome. In Firefox and Opera, they do work. I'm using jQuery's .append() to create the divs and then the .css() functino to manipulate them. Looking in Chrome's developer tools, I am seeing that the css property being changed in the script is being overridden by the property in the stylesheet.   Im already done with a method to do a shot on a board (bidimensional array). THe shot goes from the bottom to the top, and depending of the direction, it do bounces on the walls to get to the top. The thing is that I did the method to represent the trayectory with an 'x'. • GoogleTv video using VideoView is clipped, even though its in a separate layout of its own

  Wrote an application for GoogleTV box to play a video. The video is a separate activity to the main activity. Wired up a button on my main layout/activity to to start the video activity up (using its own video.xml layout), the video activity loads and starts playing, but the video is clipped, only showing a few centimetres of the bottom. The clipped region looks like the views that occupied the previous layout (main.xml) . The intriguing thing is that if I push the back button, before returning to the main activity the full video frame is shown. Not sure what I am doing wrong here. Any suggestions welcome.   I have an application that decodes data from a magnetic stripe reader. But, I'm having difficulty getting my calculated LRC check byte to match the one on the cards. If I were to grab 3 cards each with 3 tracks, I would guess the algorithm below would work on 4 of the 9 tracks in those cards. • UI not updated while using ProgressMonitorInputStream in Swing to monitor compressed file decompress

  I'm working on swing application that relies on an embedded H2 database. Because I don't want to bundle the database with the app(the db is frequently updated and I want new users of the app to start with a recent copy), I've implemented a solution which downloads a compressed copy of the db the first time the application is started and extracts it. Since the extraction process might be slow I've added a ProgressMonitorInputStream to show to progress of the extraction process - unfortunately when the extraction starts, the progress dialog shows up but it's not updated at all. It seems like to events are getting through to the event dispatch thread. I haven't implemented this as an SwingWorker since I need to wait for the extraction anyways before I can proceed with the initialization of the program. This method get invoked before the main JFrame of the application is visible. I don't won't a solution based on SwingWorker + property changed listeners - I think that the ProgressMonitorInputStream is exactly what I need, but I guess I'm not doing something right. I'm using Sun JDK 1.6.18. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• REST web service keeps first POST parametrs

  I have a web service in REST, designed with Java and deployed on Tomcat. However, I changed so the CREATE operation was performed through a webservice responding to an actual POST HTTP request. However, when I run the client and add some info, parameters go OK, but in next time I input different parameters it'll input the same. I run this several times and I can't get the reason of it. • Need help with memory leaks in RSS Reader

  I'm trying to write a simple RSS reader for the iPhone, and it appeared to be working fine, until I started working with Instruments, and discovered my App is leaking massive amounts of memory. I'm using the NSXMLParser class to parse an RSS feed.
