  • Need to write a daemon in linux, not sure what to use C++ or C

    Hello everyone, I have a little problem picking the right language to write my daemon, I am confused between C and C++, I want to use C++ because it is more expanded than C, but I want to use C because it is the starting point of everything in linux, I want to go for C++ as I have many resources about it, so, does it make any difference if I pick C++ instead of C? and what I will have good if I learn C more? I feel like if I go into C++ I will cover C within C++... Regards

    I'm trying to intercept the submission of a form in order to change the value of my keywords label. I have the following code: <HTML> <FORM name="searchForm" method="get" action="tmp.html" > <input type="label" name="keywords" /> <input type="button" name="submit" value="submit" onclick="formIntercept();"/> </FORM> <SCRIPT language="JavaScript"> document.searchForm.keywords.focus(); function formIntercept( ) { var f = document.forms['searchForm']; f.keywords.value = 'boo'; f.submit(); }; </SCRIPT> </HTML> When I run this in chrome and click the submit button the keywords label changes to boo, but the javascript console says: Uncaught TypeError: Property 'submit' of object <#an HtmlFormElement> is not a function. How can I submit the form with the manipulated keywords?

  • Is it an good idea to make a wrapper specifically for a DateTime that respresents Now?

    I have been noticing lately that is really nice to use a DateTime representing 'now' as an input parameter for your methods, for mocking and testing purposes. Instead of every method calling DateTime.UtcNow themselves, I do it once in the upper methods and forward it on the lower ones. So a lot of methods that need a 'now', have an input parameter DateTime now. (I'm using MVC, and try to detect a parameter called now and modelbind DateTime.UtcNow to it) So instead of: public bool IsStarted { get { return StartTime >= DateTime.UtcNow; } } I usually have: public bool IsStarted(DateTime now) { return StartTime >= now; } So my convention is at the moment, if a method has a DateTime parameter called now, you have to feed it with the current time. Of course this comes down to convention, and someone else can easily just throw some other DateTime in there as a parameter. To make it more solid and static-typed I am thinking about wrapping DateTime in a new object, i.e. DateTimeNow. So in one of the most upper layers I will convert the DateTime to a DateTimeNow and we will get compile errors when, someone tries to fiddle in a normal DateTime. Of course you can still workaround this, but at least if feels more that you are doing something wrong at point. Did anyone else ever went into this path? Are there any good or bad results on the long term that I am not thinking about?

    Hi everyone, I am creating login screen with 2 editTexts: etUsername and etPassword. On the etUsername, user should input the username and press Enter to go to the edit text etPassword, then he inputs the password, press Enter to login. Here are my current codes: etUsername.setOnKeyListener(new OnKeyListener() { @Override public boolean onKey(View v, int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if ((keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_ENTER)) { etPassword.requestFocus(); return true; } else return false; } }); etPassword.setOnKeyListener(new OnKeyListener() { @Override public boolean onKey(View v, int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if ((keyCode == KeyEvent.KEYCODE_ENTER)) { loginToServer(); return true; } else return false; } }); But when I input the username, and then press Enter – the program tries to log in to the server. In the debug mode, I saw that when I pressed Enter once (on the etUsername) then first: etUsername.onKey() is called and then etPassword.onKey() is also called !     I'm using a virtual keyboard. I have a checkbox that controls whether the virtual keyboard is displayed or not. The thing is that I don't understand how to disable it. I try to unbind it but it doesn't work...     Hi, my problem is that my variables are not working in javascript. all variables need names without some character at the beginning, this is the stupid thing...Anyways, im trying to make a funtion that makes "select all checkboxes". It is not working so i looked at the page source/info and found out that the variables were not changing. this is my input: echo "<input onclick='checkAll(1);' type='checkbox' name='master'/><br/>"; My function: function checkAll(i) { for(var i=1; i < <?php echo $num; ?>; i++) { if(document.demo.master[i].checked == true) { document.demo.message[i].checked = true; } else { document.demo.message[i].checked = false; } } } so yes that's it.
