• How do I draw a texture-mapped triangle in MATLAB?

  I have a triangle in (u,v) coordinates in an image. I would like to draw this triangle at 3D coordinates (X,Y,Z) texture-mapped with the triangle in the image. Here, u,v,X,Y,Z are all vectors with three elements representing the three corners of the triangle. I have a very ugly, slow and unsatisfactory solution in which I (1) extract a rectangular part of the image, (2) transform it to 3D space with the transformation defined by the three points, (3) draw it with surface, and (4) finally masking out everything that is not part of the triangle with AlphaData. Surely there must be an easier way of doing this?

  I have a Dictionary to map a certain type to a certain generic object for that type. For example: typeof(LoginMessage) maps to MessageProcessor<LoginMessage> Now the problem is to retrieve this generic object at runtime from the Dictionary. Or to be more specific: To cast the retrieved object to the specific generic type. I need it to work something like this: Type key = message.GetType(); MessageProcessor<key> processor = messageProcessors[key] as MessageProcessor<key>; Hope there is a easy solution to this. Edit: I do not want to use Ifs and switches. Due to performance issues I cannot use reflection of some sort either.

• Using boost::iostreams to parse a binary file byte by byte

  So I would like to parse a binary file and extract some data from it. The problem I am facing with this is that I need to convert a stream of chars to a stream of unsigned chars. Reading the boost documentation, it seems that boost::iostreams::code_converter should be the solution for this, so I tried this: typedef unsigned char uint8_t; typedef boost::iostreams::stream<boost::iostreams::code_converter< boost::iostreams::basic_array_source<uint8_t> >, std::codecvt<uint8_t, char, std::mbstate_t> > array_stream; The idea was to specify a codecvt with InternalType=uint8_t and ExternalType=char. Unfortunately this does not compile. So the question is: how do I convert a stream of chars to a stream of uint8_ts?

  Hi, I'm justing starting out learning C# and I've become stuck at something very basic. For my first "app" I thought I'd go for something simple, so I decided for a BMI calculator. The BMI is calculated into a decimal type which I'm now trying to use in a switch statement, but aparently decimal can't be used in a switch? What would be the C# solution for this: decimal bmi = calculate_bmi(h, w); switch (bmi) { case < 18.5: bmi_description = "underweight."; break; case > 25: bmi_description = "overweight"; case > 30: bmi_description = "very overweight"; case > 40: bmi_description = "extreme overweight"; break; } Thanks in advance :)

• Implement 3270 protocol in Java

  I've got a big problem with IBM HACL for accessing a server which speaks 3270 protocol. The library keeps crashing, and our JNI wrapper is actually a bug-fixing layer for the poorly-implemented and poorly-documented library (and I suspect we have introduced new bugs with it too). Moreover, in our company, everybody knows Java, and could maintain the software if we didn't have the JNI-Layer and the IBM class library. We have to use the C++ class library, because the IBM Java library is unusable: we get every non-printable character translated, and we lose all control characters along the way. Now the question is: can we ditch this library and implement our solution in Java completely (we'd like to avoid using another library from another vendor)? Is the protocol well documented? Is the implementation of 3270-over-ssl really so complex? Thanks.

• Problem creating site using Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express 2008

  Hi, this is a very newbie question, sorry! I need to create an aspx website based con C# and am calling some webservices based on some DLL's I already have. Beforem purchasing Visual Studio, I decided to try Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express (is this ok?) creating a Web Application ASP.NET based on Visual C#. I created the form to enter the data which is submitted when clicking the process button. At this point I need to call stuff from the DLL, which I have added in the Solution Explorer via Add Reference, selecting the DLL from the COM list. But whenever I run the project, I always get the error "the type or namespace xxx cannot be found - maybe a using directive or assembler directive is missing" when trying to create the object. What is my stupid mistake? Thanks!

• How do I set scons system include path

  Using scons I can easily set my include paths: env.Append( CPPPATH=['foo'] ) This passes the flag -Ifoo to gcc However I'm trying to compile with a lot of warnings enabled. In particular with env.Append( CPPFLAGS=['-Werror', '-Wall', '-Wextra'] ) which dies horribly on certain boost includes ... I can fix this by adding the boost includes to the system include path rather than the include path as gcc treats system includes differently. So what I need to get passed to gcc instead of -Ifoo is -isystem foo I guess I could do this with the CPPFLAGS variable, but was wondering if there was a better solution built into scons.

• Semi-transparent PNG Image on transparent Form

  Hello, I have a problem dealing with transparent images on transparent Forms. I have been trying and looking for a solution but nothing useful came up. The problem is: I have a Form, this Form has a Panel and the Panel has a PictureBox. Form and Panel are transparent. Now, if the image of the PictureBox has no semi-transparent it works. But if there is a gradient transparency then the "transparent color" is shown. I need the Panel and the PictureBox, so the PerPixelAlpha does not apply for this case. The Form will also have more Controls that should be visible and non transparent (just the PNG image should be transparent). The image below shows: [Left] When the Panel is not transparent.   Duplicate Modifying A Collection While Iterating Through It Has anyone a nice pattern to allow me to get around the inability to remove objects while I loop through an enumerable collection (eg, an IList or KeyValuePairs in a dictionary) For example, the following fails, as it modifies the List being enumerated over during the foreach foreach (MyObject myObject in MyListOfMyObjects) { if (condition) MyListOfMyObjects.Remove(myObject); } In the past I have used two methods. I have replaced the foreach with a reversed for loop (so as not to change the any indexes I am looping over if I remove an object). I have also tried storing a new collection of objects to remove within to loop, then looping through that collection and removed the objects from the original collection. These work fine, but neither feels nice, and I was wondering if anyone has come up with a more elegant solution to the issue

I want to perform the inverse: creation of a string from an integer. i.e. I want some function int2base(num,base) such that: int( int2base( X , BASE ) , BASE ) == X the function name/argument order is unimportant For any number X and base BASE that int() will accept. This is an easy function to write -- in fact easier than describing it in this question -- however, I feel like I must be missing something.   In Visual Studio 2010, I have a number of unit tests. When I run multiple tests at one time using test lists, I sometimes reveive the following error for one or more of the tests: The agent process was stopped while the test was running. It is never the same test failing, and if I try to run the test again, it succeeds. I found this bug report on Connect, which seems to be the same problem, but it does not offer a solution. Has anyone else seen this behaviour ? How I can avoid it ?

• Extracting information from PDFs of research papers

  I need a mechanism for extracting bibliographic metadata from PDF documents, to save people entering it by hand or cut-and-pasting it. At the very least, the title and abstract. The list of authors and their affiliations would be good. Extracting out the references would be amazing. Ideally this would be an open source solution. The problem is that not all PDF's encode the text, and many which do fail to preserve the logical order of the text, so just doing pdf2text gives you line 1 of column 1, line 1 of column 2, line 2 of column 1 etc. I know there's a lot of libraries. It's identifying the abstract, title authors etc. on the document that I need to solve. This is never going to be possible every time, but 80% would save a lot of human effort.

  Hello, I wanted to create a notification without the icon in the status bar (the state that is not expanded). I tried the custom expanded view and set the icon for this view only. But it did not work. When I give 0 as icon to the constructor, the icon disappears but notification also does not appear in the expanded view. Notification notification = new Notification(0, "", 0); I tried a lot of combinations but didn't come out with a solution. By the way, I know it is working because I saw this feature in some apps. • Android Emulator - Cannot get keyboard to display

  Basically I cannot get the onscreen keyboard to display at all. I've tried every solution I've read to make it appear within my application, and now I've come to the conclusion that it must be the emulator as it isn't appearing when using Messages, writing e-mails etc. I've looked in Language & input within settings and checked Sample Soft Keyboard, rebooted the emulator with no change. Using Android SKD 2.3.3 3.7in WVGA (Nexus One) I'm hoping someone can maybe guess what's going on. Many thanks

• Issues with Ext-JS 1.1 date fields and Firefox 3.x / IE 8

  I'm modifying an older website for a client that uses Ext-JS 1.1 and I'm having issues with display of date fields in IE and particularly Firefox. The site was left in a semi-implemented state previously, so there's not been a perceived problem before. In Chrome and Safari everything looks fine and the datepicker drops down and displays correctly. However in Firefox the picker is displayed widened to cover the maximum scrollable brower width (very wide indeed), and in IE it's truncated to about two thirds of the width it should be. I am somewhat uncertain that this is due to our css, but because Chrome and Safari work fine I think it might be a problem with Ext-js itself. I realise that this is an old version of Ext-JS, but because everything else works fine I don't want to go to the trouble of upgrading unless that would be very straightforward (but how difficult would that be?) I don't myself use ExtJS and this is the only website my client has with it - so I'm really looking for the simplest possible solution.
