• Is it possible to disable the iPhone's automatic hyperlinks?

  We send out a notification email whenever we have "phishing" emails reported to us. In these emails, we include a copy-paste of the text inside the original phishing email as a sample of what is reported to us. Our code strips all hyperlinks out of the email via PHP, but still includes (in plain text) the link. When users receive this email in their client (Thunderbird, Outlook, Horde/IMP, etc), the hyperlink is removed. However, the iPhone likes to take web addresses in plain text and automatically turn them into hyperlinks. Is there any possible way to stop this action from happening via a HTML tag or by using PHP to replace certain parts of the hyperlink?

• Is it possible to control the whole Gnome desktop with vi-like commands?

  I know with readline you can use emacs or vi commands to edit the input of several interactive text programs. I wonder if there exists such a similar facility to control the whole desktop in Gnome or in any other desktop environment. Maybe it could be a program that intercepts keystrokes and process them in the way vi does, translating sequences of characters to desktop commands and delivering to the active window only the text that is writen in insert mode. Do you know some tool like that?

• SSRS doesn't honor the CanGrow Property when Exporting to Excel

  I have a Table in an SSRS report. one of the Table Cells contains the Descriptions of Parts in an order. these descriptions could vary in length and for that reson i have set the "CanGrow" Property to True. when i try to export the report to Excel im expecting that if the text length would exceed the width of the Cell then the height of the cell would grow and the whole text would be shown. Unfortunately the SSRS Excel Generator keeps the height as is and so only the part of the text which fits the width of the cell would be shown. i would appreciate any help or input to solve this problem.   I am using json with unicode text, and having a problem with the IE8 native json implementation. <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <script> var stringified = JSON.stringify("?????? olé"); alert(stringified); </script> Using json2.js or FireFox native json, the alert() string is the same as in the original one. IE8 on the other hand returns Unicode values rather than the original text \u0e2a\u0e27\u0e31\u0e2a\u0e14\u0e35 ol\u00e9 . Is there an easy way to make IE behave like the others, or convert this string to how it should be ? And would you regard this as a bug in IE, I thought native json implementations were supposed to be drop-in identical replacements for json2.js ?

• Image input onclick event being fired when enter button Pressed

  I have a strange problem where an onclick event on an input image is being fired when i hit enter in input text box <form id="MyForm" action="/someaction"> <input type="image" src="someimage.jpg" onclick="doStuff();$('#MyForm').submit();" /> <input type="text" name="textInput"/> </form> When the cursor is in the text box and i hit enter, rather than the form being submitted it calls the onclick event on the image input. Any ideas whats going on ?

  I'm currently writing some stylesheets for mobile browsers and have come across a strange issue in the Android browser. When changing the font-size CSS attribute of a text box the box gets bigger to accomodate the larger text. Doing this on a select box however does not change the size of the select box, but the text still gets larger (actually overlapping the top and bottom of the rendered form element). Can anyone tell me if it's possible to increase the height of select boxes in the Android browser. Or if not point me in the direction of a list of CSS attributes that can be applied to them. • Doctrine: textarea line breaks & nl2br

  Hi, I'm pulling my hair out with something that should be very simple: getting line breaks to show up properly in text that's returned from the database with Doctrine 1.2 I'm saving a message: $body = [text from a form textarea]; $m = new Message(); $m->setSubject($subject); $m->setBody($body); $m->save(); Querying the message: $q = Doctrine_Query::create() ->from('Message m') ->where('m.message_id = ?', $id) ->limit(1); $this->message = $q->execute(array(), Doctrine_Core::HYDRATE_ARRAY); In my template: echo $message[0]['body'] ... outputs the text without line breaks echo ln2br($message[0]['body']) ... no difference ... and I've tried every combination I could think of. Is Doctrine doing something to line breaks that's affecting this, or is there something that I'm just missing? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• Data persistance with BufferedReader and PrintWriter?

  I have this simple application with a couple of classes which are all related. There's one, the main one, for which there is only one instance of. I need to save save and load that using a text stream. My instructor requirement is BufferedReader to load the stream and PrintWriter to save it. But is this even possible? To persist a data object/class with a text stream? I know how to do it with and object, using serialization. But I don't see how am I supposed to do it using text streams. Suggestions?

• js function causing all other functions not to work inside js file

  In safari 4 and all explorer browsers, whenever I try to call a function inside a javascript file which contains this function below, that first function isn't called. So calling function1 will not work if function2 is inside the same .js file, explanation? Here is the code which makes the problem. Whenever I remove this function, everything works fine and all functions work fine.   I'm trying to typeset a document I'm working on. Currently I'm trying to format a piece of text such that the text consists of two colors: a fill color and a line color. In this way the header should pop out more. I found \psset with options such as linecolor and fillcolor, but I can't get it to work. Can someone provide an example of how I could do this? Just providing a color using the color-package is no problem, but also not what I want because using this package I can only provide a single color for a piece of text.

  I have the following set of controls. Scenario 1: If you select one of the first 3 radio buttons and click enter, focus will jump to the Passport Number text box. If the user selects "Other", the "Other, Please Specify" textbox is enabled and, for convenience, screen focus (the cursor is moved) to that textbox. Scenario 2: The "specify Other" text box is hidden until the user clicks on the Other Radio button. Upon doing so, the textbox is made visible and the cursor is placed in this textbox. Which scenario do you feel is a better approach? Perhaps you have another variation? Please state your reasoning. I would also appreciate it if you could make a generalized statement as to when hiding is better than disabling or vice versa, but I am also interested in this particular example. Thanks. Afetrthought: Perhaps, in the 2nd example, the "Please Specify" text would only appear after the user has selected the 'Other' radio button.

  I am just starting to explore this area and wonder what are the best practices when it comes to production of clean, well-structured and maintainable CSSes. There seems to be few different approaches to structuring CSS rules. One of the most commonly encountered ones I saw was throwing everything together in one rule, i.e. margins, borders, typefaces, backgrounds, something like this: .my-class { border-top:1px solid #c9d7f1; font-size:1px; font-weight:normal; height:0; position:absolute; top:24px; width:100%; } Another approach I noticed employed grouping of properties, say text-related properties like font-size, typeface, emphasis etc goes into one rule, backgrounds go into other, borders/margins go into yet another one: .my-class { border-top:1px solid #c9d7f1; } .my-class { font-size:1px; font-weight:normal; } .my-class { height:0; top:24px; width:100%; position:absolute; } I guess I am looking for a silver bullet here which I know I am not going to get, bet nevertheless - what are the best practices in this space?

For example: header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8'); returns the whole page as text/html... while header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8'); header("Content-type: image/jpeg"); Returns the whole page as an image.... How can I use both types of content on the same page? I'm using ob_start() at the top and ob_end_flush() at the beginning.

• style sheet issue

  When I add text to my web page using my text editor it display styles correctly inside the text editor which basically is a iframe. After this data is saved it's displayed on another page where the issue occurs. I wanted the description section on my web page to use its own style without getting overwritten by the page styles. Do i need to use a iframe to display this data? Is there a way I can prevent a block from using the page style. Please advise. Appreciate all your help.
