  I'm working with MS Excel interop in C# and I don't understand how this particular line of code works: var excel = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application(); where Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application is an INTERFACE defined as: [Guid("000208D5-0000-0000-C000-000000000046")] [CoClass(typeof(ApplicationClass))] public interface Application : _Application, AppEvents_Event { } I'm thinking that some magic happens when the interface is decorated with a CoClass attribute, but still how is it possible that we can create an instance of an interface with a new keyword? Shouldn't it generate a compile time error?

However, I was also told to overwrite the equals and hashCode methods to avoid unpredictable behaviour. Still, sometimes I may want to compare the references of the roots or something along those lines using ==. Is that still possible or does the == comparison call the equals method?

  I have a model that has an amount and I'm tracking to see if this amount is changed with a Model.amount_changed? with a before_save which works fine but when I check to see amount_was and amount_change? it only returns the updated amount not the previous amount. And all this is happening before it is save. It knows when the attribute is changed but it will not return the old value. Ideas?

  The following error is preventing me from cloning a Windows 7 64bit computer. Unable to create a VSS snapshot of the source volume(s). Error code: 2147754754 (0x80042302) I'm using VMWare vCenter Converter Standalone Client 4.0.1. Any ideas on what might be causing this? When I checked the services running, I noticed that the Volume Shadow Copy Service was set to manual. So I started the service and switched it to automatic. It still didn't work after that. Upgrading was not possible due to the differences in editions of the SQL Servers. Now TFS is broken. • Group Policy error 1006 with and error code 52

  I have a hyper-v cluster operating on win2k8 R2 in a 2003 forest. These servers are at our NOC with a DC that connects to our PDC at HQ via a persistent VPN. The cluster boxes are reporting a error event ID 1006 shown below. The DC is also reporting an error 5805 also shown below. I have found numorus posts regarding 1006 errors, but none for error ID 52's. It's weird, I can ping and I can browse network shares on the DC from each. I thought maybe a DNS or net work issue, but nslook up works too.
