• Deafault password for hp c7000 blade servers.

  Has anybody worked on hp c7000 blade servers before. I have just ordered them and brought them on network. I tried logging in from web browser but I do not have the default password to log in. User guide says default password is provided with the tag supplied with the KVM module but I did not find any such tag. I am also working with hp customer care but it's taking too much time. So posted here to get some quick help from you guys. Thanks!

• Powershell Active Directory Account Attribute to a variable

  Sorry for the newbie question. I am using Powershell 3 to get a list of all user accounts. I am trying to generate an output for accounts, either "Enabled" or "Disabled". I am able to get the account status code from active directory using: $rc = $Rech.PropertiesToLoad.Add("userAccountControl"); That will display the correct account status code. When I try to use an if statement on the value, I dont get any result. How do I put this value into a variable to use some logic with it? In the end, my requirements are to have the output to an CSV file that I can send to HR and have them examin it and instead of a code I would like to have it say "Enabled" or "Disabled". Thank you.

  I recently had an issue with my acer 4736z notebook because I was having a blank screen after booting the OS, then someone told me to use the parameter GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quiet splash acpi_osi = Linux" after quiet splash inside the grub. It worked for me, but since then I can't install a thing or update anything on Linux because it says Removing linux-image-extra-3.5.0-17-generic ... • My parked domain was de-indexed by Google - what to do?

  I have a question about how to handle my domain. In a nutshell, I bought a domain last year from Go Daddy. My intention was to launch a real site with this domain and I have spent the last year working on my site. For the last year, I have been using the default Go Daddy page display for an up and coming site. When I first bought this site, it was indexed by Google - you could search for "alphabanter" and my site would show up on the search result page for Google. Several months ago, it seemed Google de-indexed my domain and if you type "alphabanter," my domain no longer shows up on the list of search results. However, if you search for "www.alphabanter.com", that's the only way it shows up in the search results for Google. Anyways, I am about to launch my site for real. However, I don't quite know if I can get my site back into Google's index. I have a few questions: 1) Was my domain permanently penalized by Google and removed from their index just because it was a parked domain? I don't believe I have done anything abusive other than using the Go Daddy default page for almost a year because my site was not ready. 2) Should I just launch my site, put a few backlinks to my site, and hope that Google indexes my site again? 3) Should I submit my site to Google at Google submit your content I assume getting Google to reconsider my site is the last option if none of the above works.

• Suppress log messages about 3ware disk temperature changes on CentOS?

  I have a number of CentOS 5 servers which use 3ware RAID controllers. These servers are bugging my team with messages about minor temperature changes, like this: Jun 8 12:32:39 HOST smartd[1231]: Device: /dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_01], SMART Usage Attribute: 194 Temperature_Celsius changed from 119 to 118 Jun 8 12:32:39 HOST smartd[1231]: Device: /dev/twa0 [3ware_disk_03], SMART Usage Attribute: 194 Temperature_Celsius changed from 122 to 121 How can I suppress these messages? According to man smartd.conf : To disable any of the 3 reports, set the corresponding limit to 0. Trailing zero arguments may be omitted. By default, all temperature reports are disabled (´-W 0´). On my systems, smartd is reporting about temperature changes by default. I tried a manual approach. In /etc/smartd.conf, I have the following: /dev/twa0 -d 3ware,1 -a -W 0 /dev/twa0 -d 3ware,3 -a -W 0 But this still does not suppress the messages. Since these messages show up in /var/log/messages, LogWatch is sending unnecessary emails every night.

• Gnome shell not starting at login, but can start from terminal (Ubuntu 12.04)

  I upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 recently and for some reason it broke Gnome 3. The shell doesn't start up at login. • Is conditional return type ever a good idea?

  So I have a method that's something like this: -(BOOL)isSingleValueRecord And another method like this: -(Type)typeOfSingleValueRecord And it occurred to me that I could combine them into something like this: -(id)isSingleValueRecord And have the implementation be something like this: -(id)isSingleValueRecord { //If it is single value if(self.recordValue = 0) { //Do some stuff to determine type, then return it return typeOfSingleValueRecord; } //If its not single value else { //Return "NO" return [NSNumber numberWithBool:NO]; } } So combining the two methods makes it more efficient but makes the readability go down. In my gut, I feel like I should go with the two-method version, but is that really right? Is there any case that I should go with the combined version?

• HP Rapid Deployment - Change Data Store Path

  I am running HP Rapid Deployment (Altiris eXpress Deployment Server 6.9 - Build 164) on an inherited Windows Server 2003 SP2. I need to change the Data Store Path as the default is pointing to the C: drive and there is not enough space there. I would like to set it to the D: drive where there is plenty of space. Reading the documentation: Data store path: Specifies the path to stored packages and files and other DS functions (such as license verification). The default path is C:\Program files\Altiris\express\Deployment Server. Note: Do not use this setting to change the path to the Deployment Share. Modifying this setting does not automatically allow you to use another shared directory other than the express share. To change the Deployment Share shared directory, run a Custom install to establish another location for the Deployment Share. Is there any other way I can change the path as I do not have the install media?

• PHP on IIS7 not showing pages

  I have a PHP website on a Windows 7 machine I'm working with and it cannot be viewed by any browser - IE, Chrome, Firefox. When navigating to the root of the website (default index.php) the browser reports it cannot find the address. Not a 404 error from the webserver, just as if it cannot resolve the name. Other websites in the same default web application that are also PHP work perfectly. I've aligned all folder permissions and everything else but this has got me stumped. I even went as far to create a new folder and throw in a test phpinfo() page and it worked. Copied this website's content to the new folder and it cannot find the index.php page. I checked all setting I know and can't seem to find what I'm missing. Anyone else encounter this issue? Remember the fix for it?

  Little heads up, Im the only lonely dev building/planning/mocking my project as I go. Ive come up with a preview release that does only the core aspects of the system, with good business value and I've coded most of the UI as dirty throw-able mockups over nicely abstracted and very minimal base code. In the end I know quite well what my clients want on the whole. I can't take agile-ish cowboying anymore because Im completely dis-organized and have no paper plan and since my clients are happy, things are getting more complex with more features and ideas. So I started using and learning Agile & Scrum Here are my problems: I know what a functional spec is.(sample): Do all user stories and/or scenarios become part of the functional spec? I know what user stories and tasks are. Are these kinda user stories? I dont see any Business Value reason added to them. I made a mind map using freemind, I had problems like this: Actor : Finance Manager Can Add a Financial Plan into the system because well thats the point of it? What Business Value reason do I add for things like this? Example : A user needs to be able to add a blog article (in the blogger app) because..?? Its the point of a blogger app, it centers around that feature? How do I go into the finer details and system definitions: Actor: Finance Manager Action: Adds a finance plan. This adding is a complicated process with lots of steps. What User Story will describe what a finance plan in the system is ?? I can add it into the functional spec under definitions explaining what a finance plan is and how one needs to add it into the system, but how do I get to the backlog planning from there? Example: A Blog Article is mostly a textual document that can be written in rich text in the system. To add a blog article one must...... But how do you create backlog list/features out of this? Where are the user stories for what a blog article is and how one adds/removes it? Finally, I'm a little confused about the relations between functional specs and user stories. Will my spec contain user stories in them with UI mockups? Now will these user stories then branch out tasks which will make up something like a technical specification? Example : EditorUser Can add a blog article. Use XML to store blog article. Add a form to add blog. Add Windows Live Writer Support. That would be agile tasks but would that also be part of/or form the technical specs? Some concrete examples/answers of my questions would be nice!!

  How should I comment a method? What are the best practices on commenting code?   I searched for a simple way to create .deb Packages for things which have no source code to compile (configs, shellscripts, proprietary software). This was quite a problem because most of the package tutorials are assuming you have a source tarball you want to compile. Then I've found this short tutorial (german). Afterwards, I created a small script to create a simple repository. Like this: rm /export/my-repository/repository/* cd /home/tdeutsch/deb-pkg for i in $(ls | grep my); do dpkg -b ./$i /export/my-repository/repository/$i.deb; done cd /export/avanon-repository/repository gpg --armor --export "My Package Signing Key" > PublicKey apt-ftparchive packages ./ | gzip > Packages.gz apt-ftparchive packages ./ > Packages apt-ftparchive release ./ > /tmp/Release.tmp; mv /tmp/Release.tmp Release gpg --output Release.gpg -ba Release I added the key to the apt keyring and included the source like this: deb http://my.default.com/my-repository/ ./ It looks like the repo itself is working well (I ran into some problems, to fix them I needed to add the Packages twice and make the temp-file workaround for the Release file). I also put some downloaded .deb into the repo, it looks like they are also working without problems. But my self created packages didn't... Wenn i do sudo apt-get update, they are causing errors like this: E: Problem parsing dependency Depends E: Error occurred while processing my-printerconf (NewVersion2) E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/my.default.com_my-repository_._Packages E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. Has anyone an idea what I did wrong?

• No HDMI audio - Windows 8 - ASUS H81M-PLUS

  I have an issue with HDMI audio on Windows 8 using an ASUS H81M-PLUS motherboard (without an external GFX card). There are many forum posts advising you to go into playback devices and setting HDMI to be default - I have done this. To eliminate what works and what doesn't work: I have not been able to get sound from my HDTV using HDMI. I have used this HDMI cable with my PS3, so this cable should be fine. I am able to use the HDMI cable in extended mode, so that I have two monitors (including the TV), just no audio. This HDMI cable goes straight from the motherboard to the TV. Below I have included 'Device manager', and 'Playback Devices' (Sound). Device Manager Playback Devices, showing disabled and disconnected devices I am at a loss. I have uninstalled all drivers, and then rebooted and made windows look for the correct ones, made sure the HDMI device was default. Thanks, Paul

  I am trying to learn Clojure, which seems a good candidate for a successful LISP. I have no problem with the concepts, but now I would like to start actually doing something. Here it comes my problem. As I mainly do web stuff, I have been looking into existing frameworks, database libraries, templating libraries and so on. Often these libraries are heavily based on macros. Now, I like very much the possibility of writing macros to get a simpler syntax than it would be possible otherwise. But it definitely adds another layer of complexity. Let me take an example of a migration in Lobos from a blog post: (defmigration add-posts-table (up [] (create clogdb (table :posts (integer :id :primary-key ) (varchar :title 250) (text :content ) (boolean :status (default false)) (timestamp :created (default (now))) (timestamp :published ) (integer :author [:refer :authors :id] :not-null)))) (down [] (drop (table :posts )))) It is very readable indeed. But it is hard to recognize what the structure is. What does the function timestamp return? Or is it a macro? Having all this freedom of writing my own syntax means that I have to learn other people's syntax for every library I want to use. How can I learn to use these components effectively? Am I supposed to learn each small DSL as a black box?

• Some More New ADF Features in JDeveloper 11.1.2

  The official list of new features in JDeveloper 11.1.2 is documented here. While playing with JDeveloper 11.1.2 and scanning the web user interface developer's guide for 11.1.2, I noticed some additional new features in ADF Faces, small but might come in handy:  You can use the af:formatString and af:formatNamed constructs in EL expressions to use substituation variables. For example: <af:outputText value="#{af:formatString('The current user is: {0}',someBean.currentUser)}"/> See section 3.5.2 in web user interface guide for more info. A new ADF Faces Client Behavior tag: af:checkUncommittedDataBehavior. See section 20.3 in web user interface guide for more info. For this tag to work, you also need to set the  uncommittedDataWarning  property on the af:document tag. And this property has quite some issues as you can read here. I did a quick test, the alert is shown for a button that is on the same page, however, if you have a menu in a shell page with dynamic regions, then clicking on another menu item does not raise the alert if you have pending changes in the currently displayed region. For now, the JHeadstart implementation of pending changes still seems the best choice (will blog about that soon). New properties on the af:document tag: smallIconSource creates a so-called favicon that is displayed in front of the URL in the browser address bar. The largeIconSource property specifies the icon used by a mobile device when bookmarking the page to the home page. See section 9.2.5 in web user interface guide for more info. Also notice the failedConnectionText property which I didn't know but was already available in JDeveloper 11.1.1.4. The af:showDetail tag has a new property handleDisclosure which you can set to client for faster rendering. In JDeveloper 11.1.1.x, an expression like #{bindings.JobId.inputValue} would return the internal list index number when JobId was a list binding. To get the actual JobId attribute value, you needed to use #{bindings.JobId.attributeValue}. In JDeveloper 11.1.2 this is no longer needed, the #{bindings.JobId.inputValue} expression will return the attribute value corresponding with the selected index in the choice list. • Ubuntu VPN Server (PPTPD) Configuration - Pass Traffic to Internet

  I am trying to configure PPTPD on my Ubuntu box to pass all VPN traffic through to it's internet connection, so I essentially want it to work like a Proxy. I think the problem is that no default gateway is being assigned to my PPTP client (Windows 7). I can connect to the VPN fine, I get an IP address and DNS servers but no default gateway. Do I need to configure a specific option to tell the VPN server to forward all traffic it receives down it's eth0 port and out to the internet. Thanks!

  Hey guys, recently I just installed msmtp in linux and I even send a mail from the terminal and it worked: echo -e "Subject: Test Mail\r\n\r\nThis is a test mail" |msmtp --debug --from=default -t [email protected] But in php, after editing the php.ini file to have this: sendmail_path = '/usr/bin/msmtp -t' and using this piece of code: <?php if ( mail ( '[email protected]', 'Test mail from localhost', 'Working Fine.' ) ){ echo 'Mail sent'; } else{ echo 'Error. Please check error log.'; } ?> I get the Mail sent message but don't receive a message in my inbox. Not even in the spam folder. • Which GPO is making my Domain Controller my clients' DNS server?

  I maintain a small domain (about 20 clients) and we need to make some changes to the DNS server that's being used by the clients. All the clients have been hard coded to use the domain controller as their DNS. Since these are new machines, and I never changed their DNS settings, I'm guessing there must be a GPO that's causing them to use the domain controller as their DNS. Since we don't have any GPO other than the default one yet, it's got to be the default GPO, however, I have looked through all the GPO settings and none of them refer to anything related to DNS. So I'm wondering if there's anything else that might be causing this. Any help or advice is highly appreciated. Thanks, Harry

  Hello, I'm using apt-get install to install various software on my PC. I have a handful of PCs that needs the same software packages installed all over them. How can I get list of software installed via apt-get install and the sequence in what the packages are installed. Okay, the sequence is not so important since the package manager resolves dependencies... I want to create a script that once run installs all needed software on the other PCs. All of these PCs are Ubuntu default installations. It is obvious that the packages list must not include all the packages that are installed trough a default installation :) Also that list should not contain software installed via synaptic or dpkg if possible.
