  • Print <div id=printarea></div> only?

    - by noesgard
How do I print the indicated div (without manually disabling all other content on the page)? I want to avoid a new preview dialog, so crating a new window with this content is not useful... The page contains a couple of tables, one of them contains the div I want to print - the table is styled with visual styles for the web, that should not be shown in print....

  • How do I trigger a single event defined for a class of objects

    - by mrbinky3000
I have a question. I have 8 buttons that have unique incrementing id's and a shared class. <button class="btnChapter" id="btnChapter_1" value="1">1</button> <button class="btnChapter" id="btnChapter_2" value="2">2</button> <button class="btnChapter" id="btnChapter_3" value="3">3</button> ... In order to prevent me from duplicating code, I bound a click event to the btnChapter class instead of binding an event individually to each button's ID. $('.btnChapter').click(function(){ .. do stuff .. }); How do I trigger() the click() event only for #btnChapter_2? The following doesn't seem to work. $('#btnChapter_2').click()

  • Inherit all methods of object (including "constructor"), but modify some of them.

    - by Kirzilla
Hello, Let's imagine that we have object Animal $.Animal = function(options) { this.defaults = { name : null } this.options = $.extend(this.defaults, options); } $.Animal.prototype.saySomething = function() { alert("I'm animal!"); } Now I'd like to create Cat object. It is absolutely similar to $.Annimal, but method saySomething() will look like this one... $.Cat.prototype.saySomething = function() { alert("I'm cat!"); } How can I inherit from Animal to create new object Cat and redefine saySomething() method? Thank you.

  • Is it possible to drag an HTML element out of another element and trigger a change with jQuery?

    - by blackrobot
I have a container element that you can drag objects around in. I want it it so that if you drag an element out of the container (when the mouse crosses the border of the containing div) the element you're dragging to change. How do I arrange this? $("#container img").draggable({ helper: 'clone', zIndex: 100 }); Once the image crosses the bounds of "#container" I should be able to change the image source.

  • How do I make different texts to appear in after clicking x-times?

    - by Sebastian Lindén
I want to show some text within a class for each click but keep the clicky-class. Shortly, if you click 2 times, you will get a div-text "You clicked two times", you will still be able to click a third time, then you will get "You clicked three times", until the fifth time when everything will hide. Is there any simpel way to do this? I tried with this but couldn't get it to work. var clicks = 0; $('.clicky').on('click', function() { clicks++; if(clicks >= 3) { $(this).add($('.background')).add($('.hello')); } else(clicks >= 5) { $(this).add($('.background')).hide(); } });? http://jsfiddle.net/sLAzY/ This is a working example of the hide function. Hope you understand what I mean Have a nice day!

  • color letters in a div

    - by Growler
    I've created a palindrome checker. I want to take it one step further and show the letters being compared as it is being checked. HTML: <p id="typing"></p> <input type="text" id="textBox" onkeyup="pal(this.value);" value="" /> <div id="response"></div> <hr> <div id="palindromeRun"></div> JS: To do this, I run the recursive check... Then if it is a palindrome, I run colorLetters(), which I'm trying to highlight in green each letter as it is being checked. Right now it is just rewriting palindromeRun's HTML with the first letter. I know this is because of the way I'm resetting its HTML. I don't know how to just grab the first and last letter, change only those letters' css, then increment i and j on the next setTimeout loop. var timeout2 = null; function pal (input) { var str = input.replace(/\s/g, ''); var str2 = str.replace(/\W/, ''); if (checkPal(str2, 0, str2.length-1)) { $("#textBox").css({"color" : "green"}); $("#response").html(input + " is a palindrome"); $("#palindromeRun").html(input); colorLetters(str2, 0, str2.length-1); } else { $("#textBox").css({"color" : "red"}); $("#response").html(input + " is not a palindrome"); } if (input.length <= 0) { $("#response").html(""); $("#textBox").css({"color" : "black"}); } } function checkPal (input, i, j) { if (input.length <= 1) { return false; } if (i === j || ((j-i) == 1 && input.charAt(i) === input.charAt(j))) { return true; } else { if (input.charAt(i).toLowerCase() === input.charAt(j).toLowerCase()) { return checkPal(input, ++i, --j); } else { return false; } } } function colorLetters(myinput, i, j) { if (timeout2 == null) { timeout2 = setTimeout(function () { console.log("called"); var firstLetter = $("#palindromeRun").html(myinput.charAt(i)) var secondLetter = $("#palindromeRun").html(myinput.charAt(j)) $(firstLetter).css({"color" : "red"}); $(secondLetter).css({"color" : "green"}); i++; j++; timeout2=null; }, 1000); } } Secondary: If possible, I'd just like to have it colors the letters as the user is typing... I realize this will require a setTimeout on each keyup, but also am not sure how to write this.

  • How to force delete cookies even if one window is still open?

    - by medopal
Apparently in IE8, there is this option 'Preserve Favorites website data', even if I uncheck it the browser will still keep the cookies until the last window is closed. Problem scenario. say I logged in to somesite.com, then without out logging out, I closed the window, but there was still another IE8 window open. In this case IE8 will keep the cookies of this site. So If I opened the site again (same window or another) the site won't ask for login info. The client wants the web application to be logged off as soon as the user closes the browser. Can I force delete the cookies IE8 is saving? or maybe I can stop the user from closing the window until I simulate a click on logout button?

  • Why does my simple event handling example not work?

    - by njreed
I am trying to make a simple event handler. (Note, I'm not trying to implement a full-blown publish/subscribe model; I'm just interested in why my example doesn't work as I think it should) var myObj = (function () { var private = "X"; function triggerEvent(eventName) { if (this[eventName]) { this[eventName](); } } // Setter / Getter function getProp() { return private; } function setProp(value) { private = value; triggerEvent("onPropChange"); } // Public API return { // Events "onPropChange": null, // Fires when prop value is changed // Methods "getProp": getProp, "setProp": setProp }; })(); // Now set event handler myObj.onPropChange = function () { alert("You changed the property!"); }; myObj.setProp("Z"); // --> Nothing happens. Wrong // Why doesn't my alert show? I set the onPropChange property of my object to a simpler handler function but it is not being fired. I have debugged this and it seems that in triggerEvent the variable this is referencing the global window object. I thought it should reference myObj (which is what I need). Can someone explain the error in my thinking and how I correct this? Help much appreciated. jsFiddle here

  • Jquery Hidden Field in Table

    - by zSysop
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to access a hidden field (by client id) within a table row using jquery. $("#tblOne").find("tr").click(function() { var worker = $(this).find(":input").val(); }); I find that the above works for a row that has only one input, but i need some help figuring out a way to get the value by the inputs name. Here's the example of a table row. How would i access the two fields by their id's? <table id="tblOne"> <tr> <td> <asp:HiddenField id="hdnfld_Id" Text='<% Eval("ID") %>'></asp:HiddenField> </td> <td> <asp:HiddenField id="hdnfld_Id2" Text='<% Eval("ID2") %>'></asp:HiddenField> </td> </tr> </table>

  • Load local Html file doesn't refer the js file in UIWebView

    - by Hero Vs Zero
I am working with UIWebView project and I want to load an HTML file from a project resource. It is working fine when I run from the URL, but when I view the HTML file locally, JS files are not loaded. Loading the local HTML local file doesn't refer to js files in UIWebView. Here's my code to load the HTML file project local resource and does't refer the js file: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"textfile" ofType:@"txt"]; NSError *error = nil; NSString *string = [[NSString alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:path encoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding error:&error]; NSString *path1 = [[NSBundle mainBundle] bundlePath]; NSURL *baseURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:path1]; NSLog(@"%@ >>> %@",baseURL,path); [webview loadHTMLString:string baseURL:baseURL]; This code doesn't find JS files in UIWebView, even though it loads image files from the project resource successfully.

    - by jerome
Hi all, I'd like to use a JS regex to take a string such as the following: 'http://www.somedomain.com/some_directory/some_other_directory/some_image.jpg' And turn it into this: 'http://www.some_other_domain.com/another_directory/yet_another_directory/size1_some_image.jpg' Any hints? Additionally, any pointers for books or other resources that give a gentle introduction to mastering regexes in JS and other languages?

  • Jquery draggable with zoom problem

    - by Manuel
I am working on a page in witch all its contents are scaled by using zoom. The problem is that when I drag something in the page the dragging item gets a bad position that seems relative to the zoom amount. To solve this I tried to do some math on the position of the draggable component, but seems that even tho visually its corrected, the "true" position its not recalculated. here is some code to explain better: var zoom = Math.round((parseFloat($("body").css("zoom")) / 100)*10)/10; var x = $(this).data('draggable').position; $(this).data('draggable').position.left = Math.round(x.left/zoom); $(this).data('draggable').position.top = Math.round(x.top/zoom); Any help would be greatly appreciated

  • Rendering suggested values from an ext Combobox to an element in the DOM

    - by qui
I have an ext combobox which uses a store to suggest values to a user as they type. An example of which can be found here: combobox example Is there a way of making it so the suggested text list is rendered to an element in the DOM. Please note I do not mean the "applyTo" config option, as this would render the whole control, including the textbox to the DOM element.
