  • Automatically reporting javascript errors to the developer

    - by Cine
    As most production environments we have setup something to send us a notification if there is an error in our web application. The problem is ofcourse that this only covers errors on the server side. My question to the community is: What are you doing about client side errors, especially in javascript? And what about other quality of service issues, such as slow processing and other things that might be due to the client machine?

  • Uncatchable errors in node.js

    - by Peter Burns
    So I'm trying to write a simple TCP socket server that broadcasts information to all connected clients. So when a user connects, they get added to the list of clients, and when the stream emits the close event, they get removed from the client list. This works well, except that sometimes I'm sending a message just as a user disconnects. I've tried wrapping stream.write() in a try/catch block, but no luck. It seems like the error is uncatchable.

  • Why might a file only be partially uploaded?

    - by letseatfood
    Why might a file only be partially uploaded? I am improving error-handling in my PHP file upload script and am trying to figure out how to handle UPLOAD_ERR_PARTIAL properly. Should I prompt the user to try uploading the file again, or should I inform them that there is a more severe problem which is preventing them from uploading a possibly legitimate file? Thanks!

  • Checking for DBNull throws a StrongTypingException

    - by calico-cat
    I am using a dataset to pull data from a DB. One of the fields in a row is NULL. I know this. However, the following vb.net code throws a StrongTypingException (in the autogenerated get_SomeField() method in the dataset designer): If Not IsDBNull(aRow.SomeField) Then 'do something End If According to documentation and this question it should be fine. edit: If aRow.SomeField is DBNull.Value Then also returns the same error. Argh.

  • Check for live Data Source Name Before proceeding

    - by n_kips
    Would it be ok to get a CF app to check for a valid database before proceeding to process that request? This is because there may be instances where the database server may be down or being upgraded, hence an error comes when a db dependant request is made. If there is no connection to the db server, the user can be safely redirected to a safe page. Or can cfcatch work? How can this check be done? Thank you.

  • Invalid Cross-Thread Operations from BackgroundWorker2_RunWorkerCompleted in C#

    - by Jim Fell
    Hello. I'm getting an error that does not make sense. Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'buttonOpenFile' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on. In my application, the UI thread fires off backgroundWorker1, which when almost complete fires off backgroundWorker2 and waits for it to complete. backgroundWorker1 waits for backgroundWorker2 to complete, before it completes. AutoResetEvent variables are used to flag when each of the workers complete. In backgroundWorker2_RunWorkerComplete a function is called that resets the form controls. It is in this ResetFormControls() function where the exception is thrown. I thought it was safe to modify form controls in the RunWorkerCompleted function. Both background workers are instantiated from the UI thread. Here is a greatly summarized version of what I am doing: AutoResetEvent evtProgrammingComplete_c = new AutoResetEvent(false); AutoResetEvent evtResetComplete_c = new AutoResetEvent(false); private void ResetFormControls() { toolStripProgressBar1.Enabled = false; toolStripProgressBar1.RightToLeftLayout = false; toolStripProgressBar1.Value = 0; buttonInit.Enabled = true; buttonOpenFile.Enabled = true; // Error occurs here. buttonProgram.Enabled = true; buttonAbort.Enabled = false; buttonReset.Enabled = true; checkBoxPeripheryModule.Enabled = true; checkBoxVerbose.Enabled = true; comboBoxComPort.Enabled = true; groupBoxToolSettings.Enabled = true; groupBoxNodeSettings.Enabled = true; } private void buttonProgram_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { while (backgroundWorkerProgram.IsBusy) backgroundWorkerProgram.CancelAsync(); backgroundWorkerProgram.RunWorkerAsync(); } private void backgroundWorkerProgram_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { // Does a bunch of stuff... if (tProgramStat_c == eProgramStat_t.DONE) { tProgramStat_c = eProgramStat_t.RESETTING; while (backgroundWorkerReset.IsBusy) backgroundWorkerReset.CancelAsync(); backgroundWorkerReset.RunWorkerAsync(); evtResetComplete_c.WaitOne(LONG_ACK_WAIT * 2); if (tResetStat_c == eResetStat_t.COMPLETED) tProgramStat_c = eProgramStat_t.DONE; } } private void backgroundWorkerProgram_RunWorkerCompleted(object sender, RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs e) { // Updates form to report complete. No problems here. evtProgrammingComplete_c.Set(); backgroundWorkerProgram.Dispose(); } private void backgroundWorkerReset_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e) { // Does a bunch of stuff... if (tResetStat_c == eResetStat_t.COMPLETED) if (tProgramStat_c == eProgramStat_t.RESETTING) evtProgrammingComplete_c.WaitOne(); } private void backgroundWorkerReset_RunWorkerCompleted(object sender, RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs e) { CloseAllComms(); ResetFormControls(); evtResetComplete_c.Set(); backgroundWorkerReset.Dispose(); } Any thoughts or suggestions you may have would be appreciated. I am using Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition. Thanks.

  • Error inserting data in binary tree

    I copied this code (in spanish) http://www.elrincondelc.com/nuevorincon/index.php?pag=codigos&id=4 and wrote a new one. This is my code: #include <cstdlib> #include <conio.h> #include <iostream> using namespace std; struct nodoarbol { int dato; struct nodoarbol *izq; struct nodoarbol *der; }; typedef nodoarbol Nodo; typedef Nodo *Arbol; void insertar(Arbol *, int); void inorden(Arbol); void postorden(Arbol); void preorden(Arbol); void insertar(Arbol *raiz, int nuevo){ if (*raiz==NULL){ *raiz = (Nodo *)malloc(sizeof(Nodo)); if (*raiz != NULL){ (*raiz)->dato=nuevo; (*raiz)->der=NULL; (*raiz)->izq=NULL; } else{ cout<<"No hay memoria suficiente u ocurrio un error"; } } else{ if (nuevo < (*raiz)->dato) insertar( &((*raiz)->izq), nuevo ); else if (nuevo > (*raiz)->dato) insertar(&((*raiz)->der), nuevo); } }//inseertar void inorden(Arbol raiz){ if (raiz != NULL){ inorden(raiz->izq); cout << raiz->dato << " "; inorden(raiz->der); } } void preorden(Arbol raiz){ if (raiz != NULL){ cout<< raiz->dato << " "; preorden(raiz->izq); preorden(raiz->der); } } void postorden(Arbol raiz){ if (raiz!=NULL){ postorden(raiz->izq); postorden(raiz->der); cout<<raiz->dato<<" "; } } int main() { int i; i=0; int val; Arbol raiz = NULL; for (i=0; i<10; i++){ cout<<"Inserte un numero"; cin>>val; insertar( (raiz), val); } cout<<"\nPreorden\n"; preorden(raiz); cout<<"\nIneorden\n"; inorden(raiz); cout<<"\nPostorden\n"; postorden(raiz); return 0; } I'm using netbeans 7.1.1, mingw32 compiler This is the output: make[2]: Leaving directory `/q/netbeans c++/NetBeansProjects/treek' make[1]: Leaving directory `/q/netbeans c++/NetBeansProjects/treek' main.cpp: In function 'int main()': main.cpp:110:30: error: cannot convert 'Arbol {aka nodoarbol*}' to 'Nodo** {aka nodoarbol**}' for argument '1' to 'void insertar(Nodo**, int)' make[2]: *** [build/Release/MinGW-Windows/main.o] Error 1 make[1]: *** [.build-conf] Error 2 make: *** [.build-impl] Error 2 BUILD FAILED (exit value 2, total time: 11s) I don't understand what's wrong since i just copied the code (and rewrite it to my own code). I'm really good in php, asp.net (vb) and other languages but c is a headche for me. I've been struggling with this problem for about an hour. Could somebody tell me what could it be?
