    Is there a way to convert a Json Object to a Multidimensional C# Array? I know it might be impractical but I can't be bothered to write classes and then deserialize the strings into them. List<string> ohyeah = (List<string>)JsonConvert.DeserializeObject(g.CommToken); That returns an Invalid Cast exception!   • An efficient way to store view counts for objects?

    I maintain an application where users are able to store images, and then share them. The system is powered by MongoDB at the back end. Most of the image depiction pages are cached as flat HTML files, but I can run some code just before loading the file. I've decided to implement a view count for the system. I am wondering what is the best storage place for that. It should be like Memcached but it should save the viewcounts every hour or so, so even if our server has to be restarted we won't lose the view counts. What is the best solution for that (preferably with a PHP extension as a client)?

  • Escaping HTML strings with jQuery

    Does anyone know of an easy way to escape HTML from strings in jQuery? I need to be able to pass an arbitrary string and have it properly escaped for display in an HTML page (preventing JavaScript/HTML injection attacks). I'm sure it's possible to extend jQuery to do this, but I don't know enough about the framework at the moment to accomplish this.

  • Using Roboform with PuTTY

    I recently discovered and fell in love with Roboform. In less than a week it's become indispensable. So far I've only seen Roboform's ability to fill out fields in web browsers and Windows GUI apps. I'm an app developer and sometimes I need to use Telnet/SSH. My SSH client of choice is PuTTY, but I can't find any way to integrate Roboform with PuTTY. Is this possible? If not, is there another [free] SSH client that will work with Roboform?

  • New user profile creation error - Windows cannot open *.exe

    I have a windows 7 laptop with the user "mydomain\boy" that cannot log in to the laptop. the error message is something like "User profile service cannot log in the user boy". I then logged in with the domain admin account "mydomain\admin" and then went to delete the "mydomain\boy" from my computer system properties advance system settings user profiles settings. I also ensure that the user is deleted from control panel user accounts. I then also deleted the user folder c:\users\boy I also checked that the registry at this location HKLM\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\profilelist\ and ensure that there is no entry for boy. I followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215 using the method 3 "fix it for me" but does not seem to do anything. (or i don't know how to use it). AFTER EVERYTHING DONE ABOVE... Everytime i log in with a new user, be it boy, girl or anything other domain account (other than the admin account already created when I first logged in to begin the fix/break), it takes a long time, and when the "preparing desktop" goes away, it starts to exe cannot open error e.g. regsvr.exe etc.. file association problem with exe QUESTION (phew finally..): Please tell me how to fix it?   • All downloads being interrupted

    System: Windows 7 Professional 64bit. 8GB RAM, Intel i5-2400 CPU, +300GB free on the hard drive. AVG Internet Security 2012 (enabled & disabled, with firewall enabled and disabled - no effect for either). This computer is less than a year old. Network: This problem is occurring on a single computer on a network with multiple computers. The router is a Motorola Netopia 3347-02 (DSL Modem/Wireless Router combined). The computer is plugged in directly to the modem, other computers are using the wireless successfully. The router has been reset. The only thing odd about the connection between the router and computer is that it is configured to allow RDP through, so it is assigned a static IP by the router and port forwarding is enabled for port 3389. Also, though I doubt it matters, a second wireless router is active behind this router providing a second network that some computers in the area use without issues. Details: All downloads initiated on this specific computer eventually fail, this includes streaming from youtube, specialized downloads (itunes), downloads from websites, FTP downloads, etc. Failure occurs with all browsers, but in chrome this is the process it takes: 1) Download begins normally, 2) At some point between (observed) 7MBs and 229MBs the download stops progressing (at this point, if watching chrome's task manager, you can see the network activity for the downloading tab drop to 0kps), 3) for some time the download sits there still attempting to complete, but will eventually display "123,049,871/0 B, Interrupted" (where the number is whatever it actually got to). The file I am using to test this is a very large .zip file located on a server I control, but the problem seems to occur on any site. The amount downloaded is completely random, and seems to be more time-based than anything (if I start a download immediately after the last one fails, it tends to get further than the last one). Small files can get through for this reason, though they can fail as well. In a test where I simultaneously downloaded the same file via HTTP (chrome) and FTP (windows explorer), both downloads failed at the same instant, though explorer displayed "Connection timed out" several minutes before chrome finally showed the download as interrupted.   • Postgres 9.0 locking up, 100% CPU

    We are having a problem where our Postgres 9.0 server occasionally locks up and kills our webapp. Restarting Postgres fixes the problem. Here's what I've been able to observe: First, usage of one CPU jumps to 100% for a few minutes Disk operations drop to ~0 during this time Database operations drop to 0 (blocks and tuples per sec) Logs show during this time: WARNING: worker took too long to start; cancelled WARNING: worker took too long to start; cancelled No Queries in logs (only those over 200ms are logged) No unusually long-running queries logged before or during Then the second CPU jumps to 100% The number of postgres processes jumps from the usual 8-10 to ~20 Matched by a spike in Postgres Blocks per second (about twice normal) Logs show LOG: could not accept SSL connection: EOF detected Queries are running but slow Restarting postgres returns everything to normal Setup: Server: Amazon EC2 Large Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS Postgres 9.0.3 Dedicated DB server Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? Or any suggestions about what else I should be checking out?

  • How can I make Amazon SES the default method of sending mail from my server?

    I'd like to start using Amazon SES for all emails from our server. We have a few freelance designers with PHP hosting, some Django/Python web apps and also some system utilities which send emails. So I'd like to have PHP's mail function, the command line mail command and our python apps all be able to use it, preferably without having to set them all up in their own way. I think what I need is to have something like Postfix running on localhost and using SES for it's delivery but I don't know how to do that. Amazon's docs state I need to setup my mail transfer agent (MTA) so that it invokes the ses-send-email.pl script. I have the script but I'm not sure how to achieve this. Am I on the right track? If so, how can I configure Postfix to use that script?

  • Computer loses all installed programs and appears to return OS-only state

    This is a story regarding 3 laptops of different brand and models. On separate occassions, I configured each of these Windows 7 / Vista computers with the necessary configuration and applications (which are supposedly the same actually), e.g. join office domain, same windows updates, microft office etc. These machinese were configure in our office in Singapore, and then they were taken to India for use. Someday in India, when booting up the laptop, all went fine except when it reach the log in screen, it was no longer possible to login with domain credentials. Logging into the laptop local admin account will lead to discover that the machine has returned to "OS-only state". All the configurations and applications were gone. The actual user profiles are still in the C: drive so files can still be retrieved, but under Control Panel Uninstall Programs it is evident that at least the registry is corrupted. The above scenario happen to the first 2 laptops. For the third, the system reports "Operating System Not Found" on boot up. I cannot think of any reason except to suspect a power fluctuation issue. Question is, will a power issue create this behaviour? What else can cause this issue?

Its main use would be to set up a 1 to 1 telephone system that could be used internally to connect to different users in different offices. I have looked at software like Asterisk, but it seems that this is mainly for external telephone systems. Is this possible to do with Asterisk (or other software) or is this not possible without involving a VOIP company?

  • Drop in solution for logging to DB

    I'm considering setting up our servers to log to a Mongo Database rather than log files. Logs will then be all on one server, queryable, and overall easier to manage. I'd love to find a solution that will allow all the different processes I have running to write to DB rather than files (or perhaps something to read the files, pass the logs on and truncate the files). I don't want to have to find a different solution for every process if I can avoid it. So, does anyone know of an existing solution to this problem?

  • VPN Network intermittantly fails to provide internet: What could be possible causes

    We have a small office with our own VPN setup. We occasionally experience failures in our internet connection where we cannot access the internet. Most of the time the internet connection will resume by itself(without me doing anything) after a period of time(10 mins). Would you be able to suggest possible causes of the connection failure so I can then go and run some tests? Our network architecture is like so: A 'Billion' brand router that is connected to the internet via phone cable and then connected to our Cisco Switch A Cisco Switch/Bus which is connected to all our office nodes, our external harddrive and also to our router as stated above. All connections are via ethernet cable A series of work computers(nodes) connected via ethernet cable to the Cisco switch. Our ISP is TPG Australia We have a Virtual Private Network All the ethernet cables are about 3 years old Do you think that the causes of our intermittant connection problems could be due to the following: Data collisions in the ethernet cables Old/Faulty ethernet cables Our ISP has bad service Can you think of any other causes of the problem?

  • Better way to stop/start Webmin and SSH

    Hi, it would be a good idea to not have webmin running all the time... just start it via ssh when I need it... so, I just stop webmin,and leaving SSH always running... when I need to access webmin, I start it through SSH. but there are lots of people from many country trying to bruteforce my SSH. I can reduce bruteforce using iptables. but because Im feeling still not safe (about 3 months ago), so I stop SSH and leaving webmin always running through custom port. I just start SSH through webmin when I need. and the result, no more bruteforce on SSH, and no bruteforce on webmin (maybe because the attacker dont know my webmin custom port) but I think this is still not really safe. and I cannot restrict access to some IP because I use random IP. If I stop both SSH and webmin, I will lost access to my server. Anyone know the better way dealing with this?

  • How can I tell whether an interrupted rm -r removed any files?

    I installed sshfs a Linux box and then mounted my Mac home directory. In the middle of troubleshooting a configuration issue, I did an ls -l on the mount directory (as normal user), receiving: total 0 d????????? ? ? ? ? ? sl I then ran sudo rm -r on that directory but pressed Ctrl+C to terminate it immediately before it (looks) like the command did anything. I notice no files missing but I want to be sure - is there a way I can somehow inspect the filesystem log on my Mac to see if any files were actually removed?
