  • CentOS networking BNX2

    Having some trouble with my NICs. The server starts fine and I can wget/ping etc. However, when I /etc/init.d/networking restart I then receive the following error: Bringing up interface eth0: bnx2: fw sync timeout, reset code = 1030009 SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy Consequently, the task fails. I have searched around on google users suggesting to disable PNP in the BIOS but I see no option.   • What do you use to loadbalance IPv6 services?

    Hi, the current Linux software environment for IPv6 load balancing looks a bit grim. IPVS has rudimentary support for IPv6 but it's far from complete. NAT for IPv6 seems to be a no-go. Are there any other projects which aim for this goal? Does the IPv6 support in other OS look better? Are there any commercial products which have been successfully used in production environments with non-trivial load patterns? Or is it just that the time for IPv6 hasn't come... yet? ;) best regards, Michael

  • Fake domain doesn't resolve when offline

    I have a flimsy grasp of DNS. Nonetheless, in order to install a local development copy of Wordpress MU, I needed to create a fake domain, which I called local.dev. It and all subdomains simply resolve to 127.0.0.1. Apache then directs to the correct folder. I installed PowerDNS, and got it working properly with a MySQL backend. I didn't feel comfortable, but since it worked, I didn't ask any more questions. The bizarre thing is it requires an internet connection to resolve correctly, and now I need to use it offline. If I am offline, Chrome provies the error: Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): The server could not be found. If you need more information, I am happy to provide it.

  • How do I revert back to official Linksys firmware from dd-wrt on WRT56G2 v1?

    I've been having trouble with dd-wrt on my Linksys WRT56G2 v1 router and want to go back to the stock Linksys firmware for it. The router has only 2MB of flash memory, and so I'm running the 'micro' version of dd-wrt. My question is what is the best way to do that? I could use the http://router/Upgrade.asp dd-wrt "firmware upgrade" web interface to do it, in which case there's a dropdown menu choice for "After flashing, reset to": "don't reset" or "reset to default settings". Which should I pick? Some people say that I should use a program called tftp.exe instead. I can probably gain access to a Windows machine if this is necessary. Which of these is the way to proceed? I don't want to brick the router if at all possible! Note: I used the 'wrt54g' tag because I wasn't allowed to create a 'wrt54g2' tag due my low rep here.

  • Secure copy in Linux

    Hi all, I wanna simpy exchange 3 directories to a collegue's home directory (I dont have write access to that one) from my home directory, probably using secure copy if possible. I am not good with Linux command line, so I am not sure how to do that and I would very much appreciate it if somebody could help me a bit out with this. I guess it should look something like that scp -r /home/user1/directoy1 /home/user2/directoy1 scp -r /home/user1/directoy2 /home/user2/directoy2 scp -r /home/user1/directoy3 /home/user2/directoy3 Do I need to specify the login name of my collegue so that the files can be copied when he enters his password?   • USB Flash drive corrupt files - Help needed

    I have a 16gb usb flash drive with 8gb worth of data that I can't afford to lose. When I inserted it into my pc, inside the folder that I was storing the data I saw unintelligible characters and nothing in there would open. I ran, windows scandisk and the files (unfortunately) disappeared. I can see that the drive's space still appears to be taken up with data, about 8gb. What should I do to recover it? Is it possible?   • No Data Received

    Out of the blue, around 40% of my website's community can no longer visit, saying they're getting "No Data Received" errors. We've taken our firewall offline, tried going through systems such as Cloudflare and checked our .htaccess to no avail. I've asked affected users to traceroute but the weird thing is it looks like it's being stopped at ISP level. Can anyone suggest other things that may be causing this error?

  • Port-forwarding HTTPS web server

    I have port forwarded our front-facing IP to an internal HTTPS server. The browser does not connect. A wget command determines that the certificate is self-signed for the internal IP. Hence why the browser is refusing to display the page properly. What is the best-practice scenario for this sort of stuff? Thanks

  • Virtual hosting in Varnish with individual vcl files for configuration

    I wish to use varnish to put in front of an apache and a tomcat on the same server. Depending on the ip requested, it goes to a different backend. This works. Now for most of the sites the default varnish logic will work just fine. However for some specific sites I wish to use custom VCL code. I can test for host name and include config files for the specific domains, but this only works inside the individual methods recv etc. Is there a way to include a complete set of instructions, in one file, per domain, without having to manage separate files for subdomain_recv, subdomain_fetch etc? And preferably without running seperate instances of varnish. When I try to include a file on the "root level" of default.vcl, I get a compilation error. Best regards, Michael

  • Spam mail through SMTP and user spoofing

    I have noticed that it's possible to telnet into a mailserver that I own and send spoofed messages to other clients. This only works for the domain that the mail server is regarding; I cannot do it for other domains. For example; lets say that I own example.com. If I telnet example.com 25 I can successfully send a message to another user without authentication: HELO local MAIL FROM: [email protected] RCPT TO: [email protected] DATA SUBJECT: Whatever this is spam Spam spam spam . I consider this a big problem; how do I secure this?

  • Cannot Login as root

    At my work we ship our product on pre-installed servers as a software/hardware package. We are using open SUSE 10.3 for the OS and we setup and we always log in with the root user to do maintenance on the box. Recently we just had box returned to us that the customer said the could not longer connect to the box through the network interface. So when I started to work on the box I run into the this problem: At the command prompt to login i type the user name "root" and hit enter. Then even before it asks me for a password I get "Login incorrect". I have never seen this behavior before and could not find any information about it online. Does anybody know what is going on? In this link I need a way to set a unique value (for example bookingId) that I can use to add the receipt number to the correct booking via PayPal's payment notification feature. I downloaded the Adroid SDK and added the path to Titanium: /Users/michael/Downloads/android-sdk-mac_86/ I can open e.g. Kitchen Sink in the iPhone Simulator without problems, but when I want to open it in Android then my screen looks like this: Screenshot Why is down there all the time, even after 2 hours of waiting, the label "loading..." ?

  • jQuery jFlow plugin. How can I have more than one on a single page?
