  • designing classes with similar goal but widely different decisional core

    - by Stefano Borini
    I am puzzled on how to model this situation. Suppose you have an algorithm operating in a loop. At every loop, a procedure P must take place, whose role is to modify an input data I into an output data O, such that O = P(I). In reality, there are different flavors of P, say P1, P2, P3 and so on. The choice of which P to run is user dependent, but all P have the same finality, produce O from I. This called well for a base class PBase with a method PBase::apply, with specific reimplementations of P1::apply(I), P2::apply(I), and P3::apply(I). The actual P class gets instantiated in a factory method, and the loop stays simple. Now, I have a case of P4 which follows the same principle, but this time needs additional data from the loop (such as the current iteration, and the average value of O during the previous iterations). How would you redesign for this case?

  • Why does unity obj import flip my x coordinate?

    - by milkplus
    When I import my wavefront obj model into unity and then draw lines over it with the same coordinates in the obj file, the x coordinate is negated. I don't see any option in the importer that might be doing that. And I'm using the same localToWorldMatrix and the same coordinate data in the .obj file. Hmmm GL.PushMatrix(); GL.MultMatrix(transform.localToWorldMatrix); CreateMaterial(); lineMaterial.SetPass(0); GL.Color(new Color(0, 1, 0)); GL.Begin(GL.LINES); GL.Vertex(p1); GL.Vertex(p2); GL.Vertex(p2); GL.Vertex(p3); //... GL.End(); GL.PopMatrix();

  • Get all triangles that are < N dist from you?

    - by CyanPrime
    Does anyone know of a way I could add a radius to this code for p? Like basically saying "this is true if the triangle is < N dist from the point" public boolean isPointInTriangle( Vector3f p, Vector3f a, Vector3f b, Vector3f c ) { return ( pointsAreOnSameSide(p, a, b, c) && pointsAreOnSameSide(p, b, a, c) && pointsAreOnSameSide(p, c, a, b) ); } public boolean pointsAreOnSameSide( Vector3f p1, Vector3f p2, Vector3f a, Vector3f b ) { Vector3f diffba = new Vector3f(0,0,0); Vector3f.sub( b, a, diffba ); Vector3f diffp1a = new Vector3f(0,0,0); Vector3f.sub( p1, a, diffp1a ); Vector3f diffp2a = new Vector3f(0,0,0); Vector3f.sub( p2, a, diffp2a ); Vector3f cross1 = Vector3f.cross(diffba, diffp1a); Vector3f cross2 = Vector3f.cross(diffba, diffp2a); return ( Vector3f.dot( cross1, cross2 ) >= 0 ); }

  • new and delete operator overloading

    - by Angus
    I am writing a simple program to understand the new and delete operator overloading. How is the size parameter passed into the new operator? For reference, here is my code: #include<iostream> #include<stdlib.h> #include<malloc.h> using namespace std; class loc{ private: int longitude,latitude; public: loc(){ longitude = latitude = 0; } loc(int lg,int lt){ longitude -= lg; latitude -= lt; } void show(){ cout << "longitude" << endl; cout << "latitude" << endl; } void* operator new(size_t size); void operator delete(void* p); void* operator new[](size_t size); void operator delete[](void* p); }; void* loc :: operator new(size_t size){ void* p; cout << "In overloaded new" << endl; p = malloc(size); cout << "size :" << size << endl; if(!p){ bad_alloc ba; throw ba; } return p; } void loc :: operator delete(void* p){ cout << "In delete operator" << endl; free(p); } void* loc :: operator new[](size_t size){ void* p; cout << "In overloaded new[]" << endl; p = malloc(size); cout << "size :" << size << endl; if(!p){ bad_alloc ba; throw ba; } return p; } void loc :: operator delete[](void* p){ cout << "In delete operator - array" << endl; free(p); } int main(){ loc *p1,*p2; int i; cout << "sizeof(loc)" << sizeof(loc) << endl; try{ p1 = new loc(10,20); } catch (bad_alloc ba){ cout << "Allocation error for p1" << endl; return 1; } try{ p2 = new loc[10]; } catch(bad_alloc ba){ cout << "Allocation error for p2" << endl; return 1; } p1->show(); for(i = 0;i < 10;i++){ p2[i].show(); } delete p1; delete[] p2; return 0; }

  • Process is killed without a (obvious) reason and program stops working

    - by Krzysiek Gurniak
    Here's what my program is supposed to do: create 4 child processes: process 0 is reading 1 byte at a time from STDIN, then writing it into FIFO process 1 is reading this 1 byte from fifo and write its value as HEX into shared memory process 2 is reading HEX value from shared memory and writing it into pipe finally process 3 is reading from pipe and writing into STDOUT (in my case: terminal) I can't change communication channels. FIFO, then shared memory, then pipes are the only option. My problem: Program stops at random moments when some file is directed into stdin (for example:./program < /dev/urandom). Sometimes after writing 5 HEX values, sometimes after 100. Weird thing is that when it is working and in another terminal I write "pstree -c" there is 1 main process with 4 children processes (which is what I want), but when I write "pstree -c" after it stopped writing (but still runs) there are only 3 child processes. For some reason 1 is gone even though they all have while(1) in them.. I think I might have problem with synchronization here, but I am unable to spot it (I've tried for many hours). Here's the code: #include <unistd.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <sys/shm.h> #include <sys/sem.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/wait.h> #include <sys/stat.h> #include <string.h> #include <signal.h> #define BUFSIZE 1 #define R 0 #define W 1 // processes ID pid_t p0, p1, p2, p3; • MySQL query, 2 similar servers, 2 minute difference in execution times

    - by mr12086
    I had a similar question on stack overflow, but it seems to be more server/mysql setup related than coding. The queries below all execute instantly on our development server where as they can take upto 2 minutes 20 seconds. The query execution time seems to be affected by home ambiguous the LIKE string's are. If they closely match a country that has few matches it will take less time, and if you use something like 'ge' for germany - it will take longer to execute. But this doesn't always work out like that, at times its quite erratic. Sending data appears to be the culprit but why and what does that mean. Also memory on production looks to be quite low (free memory)? • IPSec VPN using ZyWALL IPSec VPN Client: unable to connect from some providers

    - by Reshi
    I'm trying to configure an IPSec VPN to one company from my home. The company has SANET internet service provider. I was able to create a VPN connection from another company that has the same internet service provider. The problem begins when I'm trying to connect from another ISP like Orange or Telekom. Here is the log from ZyWall: 20120816 10:06:18:359 Default (SA Gateway-P1) SEND phase 1 Main Mode [SA] [VID] [VID] [VID] [VID] [VID] 20120816 10:06:18:375 Default (SA Gateway-P1) RECV phase 1 Main Mode [SA] [VID] [VID] [VID] [VID] [VID] [VID] [VID] [VID] 20120816 10:06:18:390 Default (SA Gateway-P1) SEND phase 1 Main Mode [KEY_EXCH] [NONCE] [NAT_D] [NAT_D] 20120816 10:06:18:718 Default (SA Gateway-P1) RECV phase 1 Main Mode [KEY_EXCH] [NONCE] [NAT_D] [NAT_D] 20120816 10:06:18:734 Default (SA Gateway-P1) SEND phase 1 Main Mode [HASH] [ID] 20120816 10:06:18:750 Default (SA Gateway-P1) RECV phase 1 Main Mode [HASH] [ID] 20120816 10:06:18:750 Default phase 1 done: initiator id [email protected], responder id 111.112.113.114 20120816 10:06:18:765 Default (SA Gateway-Tunnel-P2) SEND phase 2 Quick Mode [HASH] [SA] [KEY_EXCH] [NONCE] [ID] [ID] 20120816 10:06:18:953 Default (SA Gateway-Tunnel-P2) RECV phase 2 Quick Mode [HASH] [SA] [KEY_EXCH] [NONCE] [ID] [ID] 20120816 10:06:18:953 Default (SA Gateway-Tunnel-P2) SEND phase 2 Quick Mode [HASH] 20120816 10:06:48:968 Default (SA Gateway-P1) SEND Informational [HASH] [NOTIFY] type DPD_R_U_THERE 20120816 10:06:48:984 Default (SA Gateway-P1) RECV Informational [HASH] [NOTIFY] type DPD_R_U_THERE_ACK ZyWall informs me that the tunnel was opened. But I can't ping or access any computer in the network. My configuration at home: ISP: Orange Optical connection Terminal: GPON OPTICAL NETWORK TERMINAL G-25E Router: TPLink TL-WR941N --> SPI Firewall Enabled --> VPN - IPSEC Passthrough Enabled I was wondering if the problem could not be on ISP side (that he blocks somehow this connection because in SANET ISP it worked fine) or even in my terminal or router. What could I check? Where could be the problem ?

  • Mysql: Working With 192 Trillion Records... (Yes, 192 Trillion)

    - by Sarah
    Here's the question... Considering 192 trillion records, what should my considerations be? My main concern is speed. Here's the table... CREATE TABLE `ref` ( `id` INTEGER(13) AUTO_INCREMENT DEFAULT NOT NULL, `rel_id` INTEGER(13) NOT NULL, `p1` INTEGER(13) NOT NULL, `p2` INTEGER(13) DEFAULT NULL, `p3` INTEGER(13) DEFAULT NULL, `s` INTEGER(13) NOT NULL, `p4` INTEGER(13) DEFAULT NULL, `p5` INTEGER(13) DEFAULT NULL, `p6` INTEGER(13) DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`), KEY (`s`), KEY (`rel_id`), KEY (`p3`), KEY (`p4`) ); Here's the queries... SELECT id, s FROM ref WHERE red_id="$rel_id" AND p3="$p3" AND p4="$p4" SELECT rel_id, p1, p2, p3, p4, p5, p6 FROM ref WHERE id="$id" INSERT INTO rel (rel_id, p1, p2, p3, s, p4, p5, p6) VALUES ("$rel_id", "$p1", "$p2", "$p3", "$s", "$p4", "$p5", "$p6") Here's some notes... The SELECT's will be done much more frequently than the INSERT. However, occasionally I want to add a few hundred records at a time. Load-wise, there will be nothing for hours then maybe a few thousand queries all at once. Don't think I can normalize any more (need the p values in a combination) The database as a whole is very relational. This will be the largest table by far (next largest is about 900k) UPDATE (08/11/2010) Interestingly, I've been given a second option... Instead of 192 trillion I could store 2.6*10^16 (15 zeros, meaning 26 Quadrillion)... But in this second option I would only need to store one bigint(18) as the index in a table. That's it - just the one column. So I would just be checking for the existence of a value. Occasionally adding records, never deleting them. So that makes me think there must be a better solution then mysql for simply storing numbers... Given this second option, should I take it or stick with the first... [edit] Just got news of some testing that's been done - 100 million rows with this setup returns the query in 0.0004 seconds [/edit]

    I need to create a custom URI scheme for my project. i.e urn:myprotocol:{p1}:{p2}:{p3}:{p4} - opaque representation myprotocol://{p1}/{p2}/{p3}/{p4} - hierarchical representation. How can I add my scheme to Java URI class? Or, how can I make Java URI to understand my scheme, so I could use it in my code? Concrete examples are welcome. Thanks.

  • Very simple regex not working

    - by Thomas Wanner
    I have read that to match a word inside of a string using Regular expressions (in .NET), I can use the word boundary specifier (\b) within the regex. However, none of these calls result in any matches Regex.Match("INSERT INTO TEST(Col1,Col2) VALUES(@p1,@p2)", "\b@p1\b"); Regex.Match("INSERT INTO TEST(Col1,Col2) VALUES(@p1,@p2)", "\bINSERT\b"); Is there anything I am doing wrong ?

Here's my question: I have a multi-select checkbox on my form, so my query string would be: http://www.domainname.com/searchitem.html?cat[]=A&cat[]=B&cat[]=C&param1=p1&param2=p2 Whats the convention for handling this kind of queries? changing it to search/catA/catB/catC/p1/p2 doesn't seem right to me but i don't know what else to do Thanks

  • When is it safe to remote import entires from feature.xml?

    - by Robert Munteanu
    I've recently learned that the import section from feature.xml is legacy, and the actual dependency work is delegated to the p2 engine, which uses the information from the plugin manifest. I am not sure though if p2 is available for all recent versions of Eclipse, or in all Eclipse-based products, so I'm not sure if it is safe to remove the import section from feature.xml. Under what circumstances is it safe to remove the import section from feature.xml? Assume that we are taking into consideration Eclipse 3.4 or newer.

  • whats wrong in this LINQ synatx?

    - by Saurabh Kumar
    Hi, I am trying to convert a SQL query to LINQ. Somehow my count(distinct(x)) logic does not seem to be working correctly. The original SQL is quite efficient(or so i think), but the generated SQL is not even returning the correct result. I am trying to fix this LINQ to do what the original SQL is doing, AND in an efficient way as the original query is doing. Help here would be really apreciated as I am stuck here :( SQL which is working and I need to make a comparable LINQ of: SELECT [t1].[PersonID] AS [personid] FROM [dbo].[Code] AS [t0] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t1] ON [t1].[PhoneCode] = [t0].[Code] INNER JOIN [dbo].[person] ON [t1].[PersonID]= [dbo].[Person].PersonID WHERE ([t0].[codetype] = 'phone') AND ( ([t0].[CodeDescription] = 'Home') AND ([t1].[PhoneNum] = '111') OR ([t0].[CodeDescription] = 'Work') AND ([t1].[PhoneNum] = '222') ) GROUP BY [t1].[PersonID] HAVING COUNT(DISTINCT([t1].[PhoneNum]))=2 The LINQ which I made is approximately as below: var ids = context.Code.Where(predicate); var rs = from r in ids group r by new { r.phonenumbers.person.PersonID} into g let matchcount=g.Select(p => p.phonenumbers.PhoneNum).Distinct().Count() where matchcount ==2 select new { personid = g.Key }; Unfortunately, the above LINQ is NOT generating the correct result, and is actually internally getting generated to the SQL shown below. By the way, this generated query is also reading ALL the rows(about 19592040) around 2 times due to the COUNTS :( Wich is a big performance issue too. Please help/point me to the right direction. Declare @p0 VarChar(10)='phone' Declare @p1 VarChar(10)='Home' Declare @p2 VarChar(10)='111' Declare @p3 VarChar(10)='Work' Declare @p4 VarChar(10)='222' Declare @p5 VarChar(10)='2' SELECT [t9].[PersonID], ( SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ( SELECT DISTINCT [t13].[PhoneNum] FROM [dbo].[Code] AS [t10] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t11] ON [t11].[PhoneType] = [t10].[Code] INNER JOIN [dbo].[Person] AS [t12] ON [t12].[PersonID] = [t11].[PersonID] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t13] ON [t13].[PhoneType] = [t10].[Code] WHERE ([t9].[PersonID] = [t12].[PersonID]) AND ([t10].[codetype] = @p0) AND ((([t10].[codetype] = @p1) AND ([t11].[PhoneNum] = @p2)) OR (([t10].[codetype] = @p3) AND ([t11].[PhoneNum] = @p4))) ) AS [t14] ) AS [cnt] FROM ( SELECT [t3].[PersonID], ( SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ( SELECT DISTINCT [t7].[PhoneNum] FROM [dbo].[Code] AS [t4] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t5] ON [t5].[PhoneType] = [t4].[Code] INNER JOIN [dbo].[Person] AS [t6] ON [t6].[PersonID] = [t5].[PersonID] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t7] ON [t7].[PhoneType] = [t4].[Code] WHERE ([t3].[PersonID] = [t6].[PersonID]) AND ([t4].[codetype] = @p0) AND ((([t4].[codetype] = @p1) AND ([t5].[PhoneNum] = @p2)) OR (([t4].[codetype] = @p3) AND ([t5].[PhoneNum] = @p4))) ) AS [t8] ) AS [value] FROM ( SELECT [t2].[PersonID] FROM [dbo].[Code] AS [t0] INNER JOIN [dbo].[phonenumbers] AS [t1] ON [t1].[PhoneType] = [t0].[Code] INNER JOIN [dbo].[Person] AS [t2] ON [t2].[PersonID] = [t1].[PersonID] WHERE ([t0].[codetype] = @p0) AND ((([t0].[codetype] = @p1) AND ([t1].[PhoneNum] = @p2)) OR (([t0].[codetype] = @p3) AND ([t1].[PhoneNum] = @p4))) GROUP BY [t2].[PersonID] ) AS [t3] ) AS [t9] WHERE [t9].[value] = @p5 Thanks!

    I want to be able to get and set the default printer for users within Windows Terminal Services, but I don't see any relevant functions. (The closest I've seen is RDS User Config, but it doesn't appear to do what I need.) It can be done by name or by ID (however necessary). For example, something like this pseudocode: For each user, u: p = u.GetDefaultPrinter() if p.name=='Inkjet' then: p2 = GetPrinterByName('Laser') u.SetDefaultPrinter( p2 )

    Any idea how I can overlay the following two functions to compare them? ln[1]:= p1 = Plot[(E^((Pi/6)^(1/3)/x) (Pi/6)^(2/3))/((-1 + E^((Pi/6)^(1/3)/x))^2 x^2), {x, -2.2, 2.2}] ln[2]:= p2 = Plot[(E^((Pi/6)^(1/3)/t) (Pi/6)^(2/3))/((-1 + E^((Pi/6)^(1/3)/t))^2 t^2), {t, 0, 2.0}] When I try Show[p1,p2] it doesn't work

  • MATLAB plot moving data points in seperate subplots simutaneously

    - by Nate B.
    I wish to visualize the movement of a data point throughout space across a period of time within MATLAB. However, the way I want my figure to display is such that only a single instant is plotted at any given time. That was easy, I simply created a for loop to update my 3D plot display for every set of coordinates (x,y,z) in my data. However, I wish to display 4 different viewing angles of this plot at all times. I am well aware of how to setup subplots within MATLAB, that is not the issue. My issue is getting all 4 of these subplots to execute simultaneously so that all 4 subplots are always displaying the same point in time. I would appreciate if anyone could suggest how to handle this issue. As requested, my code for a figure with a single plot is shown below: datan = DATA; %data in form of x,y,z,a,b,c by column for row# of time points tib=zeros(size(datan,1),12); tib(:,1:3) = datan(:,1:3); tib_ref=tib(1,1:3); for i=1:size(datan,1) tib(i,1:3)=tib(i,1:3)-tib_ref; end angle_to_dircos close all figure('Name','Directions (Individual Cycles)','NumberTitle','off') for cc=1:2 hold off for bb=1:10:size(tib,1); scatter3(tib(bb,1),tib(bb,2),tib(bb,3),'green','filled'); %z and y axes are flipped in polhemus system hold on p0 = [tib(bb,1),tib(bb,2),tib(bb,3)]; p1 = [tib(bb,1)+10*tib(bb,4),tib(bb,2)+10*tib(bb,5),tib(bb,3)+10*tib(bb,6)]; p2 = [tib(bb,1)+10*tib(bb,7),tib(bb,2)+10*tib(bb,8),tib(bb,3)+10*tib(bb,9)]; p3 = [-(tib(bb,1)+100*tib(bb,10)),-(tib(bb,2)+100*tib(bb,11)),-(tib(bb,3)+100*tib(bb,12))]; vectarrow(p0,p1,1,0,0) hold on vectarrow(p0,p2,0,1,0) hold on vectarrow(p0,p3,0,0,1) hold on az = 90; el = 0; view(az, el); xlim([-50,50]); ylim([-50,50]); zlim([-50,50]); xlabel('distance from center in X'); ylabel('distance from center in Y'); zlabel('distance from center in Z'); title('XYZ Scatter Plots of Tracker Position'); hold on plot3(0,0,0,'sk','markerfacecolor',[0,0,0]); p0 = [0,0,0]; p1 = [10,0,0]; p2 = [0,10,0]; p3 = [0,0,100]; vectarrow(p0,p1,1,0,0) hold on vectarrow(p0,p2,0,1,0) hold on vectarrow(p0,p3,1,0,1) drawnow; end end

  • First Come, First Served process scheduling

    - by user253530
    i have 4 processes: p1 - bursts 5, priority: 3 p2 - bursts 8, priority: 2 p3 - bursts 12, priority: 2 p4 - bursts 6, priority: 1 Assuming that all processes arrive at the scheduler at the same time what is the average response time and average turnaround time? For FCFS is it ok to have them in the order p1, p2, p3, p4 in the execution queue?

    I'm doing the following: from subprocess import PIPE from subprocess import Popen file = 'dump.sql.gz' p1 = Popen(["gzip", "-cd" ,file], stdout=PIPE) print "Importing temporary file %s" % file p2 = Popen(["mysql","--default-character-set=utf8", "--user=root" , "--password=something", "--host=localhost", "--port=3306" , 'my_db'],stdin=p1.stdout, stdout=PIPE,stderr=PIPE) err = p1.communicate()[1] if err: print err err = p2.communicate()[1] if err: print err But the db is not being populated. No errors are shown, also I have checked p1.stdout and it has the file contents. Any ideas?

  • NHibernate - Saving simple parent-child relationship generates unnecessary selects with assigned id
