  • Can I automatically login to ssh using passwords from OS X keychain?

    I need to login to an ssh server which doesn't support key based authentication. And I don't want to type the passwords every time. I am using OS X Lion (10.7.2). I have added the passwords to the OS X keychain[1]. Now I can retrieve the password automatically from the keychain using /usr/bin/security, however I can't find a way to send this password to the ssh prompt. I also tried sshpass. However when I try to run it ssh exits with the following error: ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory Permission denied, please try again. ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory Permission denied, please try again. ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory Permission denied (publickey,password). Is there anyway I can login to this server without having to enter the password every time?   • Applying flattened css to xhtml

    Hi, I try to apply flattened css to xhtml (which get from websites). I am using css4j-0.12.1.jar (from http://www.informatica.info/projects/css/) to process the url html content. For a few urls the code seems to be hang. Even no exception is thrown. For a particular stylableelement or style code doesnot return any value and hangs. For a few websites code hang in, CSSStyleDeclaration.getPropertyValue(style); and for a few websites code hang in, CSSStylableElement.getComputedStyle(); I am using the latest jar. Could you please update me, is there any known issue or fix for this. I am not sure where to post this issue. If anyone knows please update me. Thanks in Advance.

    Hi, I have created a project zfapi by zf command in ubuntu. Now http://myserverpath.com/zfapi/ gives me listing of folder public application and others. http://myserverpath.com/zfapi/public give me the index page index.php. and i have made the UserController.php in application/controllers but by http://myserverpath.com/zfapi/user/ is saying user not found. what configuration i need to set for running it proper.   • Stop Munin messages from /var/log/syslog

    Hello I am using munin on a system which is adding a log entry in syslog everytime the munin-node cron job executes. It is not an issue but it sometimes makes other errors spotting difficult. There are entries like Feb 28 07:05:01 li235-57 CRON[2634]: (root) CMD (if [ -x /etc/munin/plugins/apt_all ]; then /etc/munin/plugins/apt_all update 7200 12 >/dev/null; elif [ -x /etc/munin/plugins/apt ]; then /etc/munin/plugins/apt update 7200 12 >/dev/null; fi) every 5 minutes and I was wondering how can I stop the messages going into syslog. For munin specific errors I anyways have to keep an eye on /var/log/munin/* Thanks Sparsh

  • CD/DVD Drive not detecting locally burned CD/DVDs, but works fine with Genuine discs.

    I'm using Dell Inspiron 1420 - 32 Bit - Windows Vista, since 2.5 years. I'm facing a strange problem with my CD/DVD-drive. I cannot run/play a CD/DVD which I get burned from my friends. But when I insert Genuine CD, I'm able to play/run it. And when I try to install my Vista package which I got with my notebook, the CD/DVD gets loaded. If I insert a CD/DVD which I get from my friend, CD doesn't get loaded and the system gets hanged. But all these CDs/DVDs work on other systems. I've tested it on many of my friends PCs. So, now I'm able to run only genuine CDs & a few genuine DVDs. My Experience/Experiments: I tried to install Windows Vista using Genuine DVD - It worked I tried to install Ubuntu which I got from shipped from Canonical Ltd. - It worked I tried to install OpenSUSE .iso file burned to a DVD in my friend's PC - It didn't work for me (But working perfectly fine in my friends PCs(Tested in 4 other PCs) Tried to play a DVD containing movies, burned in my friend's PC - It didn't work for me (But working perfectly fine in my friends PCs Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.   • Does more heat generation mean more wear and tear?

    I read that hardware generally used on PC is not optimized for running Linux. That is the reason the machine emits large amount of heat and doesn't give the battery back up , that we will get while working on windows. ~REF Does it also mean more wear and tear of the hardware (when using linux as compared when using windows ) ? Note : I have personally experienced large heat emission while working with Fedora 16 and Ubuntu 11.xx on my laptop.

  • How to set up multiple SSIDs with bandwidth limiting on a single wireless router?

    I have an Asus WL-520GU wireless router connected to a cable modem that I use for wireless internet access in my apartment. I would like to set it up so that it provides two SSIDs: one secured and password-protected for my regular use, and a "guest" SSID that's unsecured but throttled to, say, 10% of the available bandwidth. What is the most straightforward way to do this? I've been looking into DD-WRT and Tomato, both of which support my router. DD-WRT supports setting up multiple SSIDs using the GUI, but I don't know if it's possible to limit the bandwidth of each SSID independently; point #12 in this FAQ thread says it's not possible to limit by day or by MAC address, which is discouraging but not conclusive. Tomato allows bandwidth limits in its QoS settings, going by the screenshot here, but multiple SSID support is still experimental and it doesn't look like it will work with the encryption settings or bandwidth limits in the GUI. I'd like to know a good way to do this which gives me the fewest opportunities for screwing up. I'm no stranger to the command line, if that turns out to be what's necessary, but if so, please explain what the commands are doing because I don't have a good mental model of what needs to happen to set this up.

  • Munin Aggregate Graphs from several servers

    I am using DNS round robin load balancing and have divided my total traffic onto multiple servers. Each server does around 300-400req/second but I am interested in having an aggregate graph telling me the TOTAL of all requests per second served by our architecture. Is there any way I can do this. Right now each graph in Munin comes as a separate graph as they depict things on one server.     Working on Vista & Window 7, I use Winamp 5.57 for listening to mp3 and VLC player for watching movies. I made those two as my default players for corresponding media respectively. But when I launch winamp for playing mp3, some of the video files( like .flv, etc.,) automatically get changed the file opening mode to winamp player. This happens every time even if I set it back to 'default program'. Can someone please help me out.

  • How to download large files when the download size is restricted ?

    ? In my office, the network admin has restricted the download limit to a size of 1.8MB for any file. This is for sub ordinates accounts only. But for my manager's PC, there are no restrictions. Is there any way to download files from my PC by using my managers' ip address. I just tried using his ip on my pc but, had the same problem. ? Earlier I was given access to our Linux server from my pc using putty. Then I used to download large files on to the server and then transfer from server to my machine using fire ftp. This transfer worked perfectly fine. But, now I don't have any access to the server. So can I be able to download large files using fire ftp from my own PC ? I'm using Windows XP machine. Please suggest a solution by any possible combination. Thanks.

  • How to Set up MySQL Server to utilize more memory

    Hi there, I have MySQL setup on Windows along with Plesk. The version is 5.0.45 Community. The databases I have on the server are MyISAM as well as InnoDb, but predominantly innodb. I had 8G memory on my server, but MySQL isn't going up more than 1.3G and tweaking the settings isn't helping. I tried to increase the memory allocation for innodb_buffer_pool_size, it works if I set it up to 1G, but if I set 2G, or above the server doesn't come back online! I want mySQL to use at least 5-6 Gigs of the memory I have for performance, but I can't get this to work. Can anyone please help? My mysql config file is below (there are 2 mysqld sections... when i used MySQL workbench it created another one!)   • Internet Connection Dying after some time

    I'm using BSNL 3G USB Datacard(BSNL is a ISP in India). After connecting to internet, while browsing in browser, the connection is dying. So after disconnecting & connecting back, it works proper for some time & the same problem repeats. But if I'm downloading any movie or some file through uTorrent, the connection is not dying.   • Unable to create a Windows 7 system image of a failing hard drive

    The hard disk of my one year old T400 Thinkpad has started failing periodic hardware tests. I get a "Targeted Read Test Failed" error. The "SMART short self test" times out. I am now trying to create a Windows 7 System image of the hard disk but it fails without giving any specific error messages. I tried using Comodo Backup but got an error (code 101117) there as well. I have copied the important files in Dropbox but would like to take a full System backup as I have plenty of software installed on the machine. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can take a backup of the system image ?

    I have two Varnish servers and I plan to add more varnish servers. I am using a nginx load balancer to divide traffic to these varnish servers. To utilize maximum RAM of each varnish server, I need that same request reaches same varnish server. Same request can be identified by one GET parameter in the request URL say 'a' In a normal code, I would do something like- (if I need to divide all traffic between 2 Varnish servers) if($arg_a % 2 == 0) { proxy_pass varnish1; } if($arg_a % 2 == 1) { proxy_pass varnish2; } This is basically doing a even / odd check on GET parameter a and then deciding which upstream pool to send the request. My question are- What is the nginx equivalent of such a code. I dont know if nginx accepts modulas Is there a better/ efficient hashing function built in with nginx (0.8.54) which I can possibly use. In future I want to add more upstream pools so I need not to change %2 to %3 %4 and so on Any other alternate way to solve this problem

    I am reading several notes on SSL certificates and comparison. What matters to me the most is speed. I can read that encryption is same with all different certificates available but I was wondering if there is any difference in the performance of the website with different certificates involved. I am ofcourse interested in end to end response times and I wonder if the type of encryption or number of certificates required as Chain Certificates makes a difference in speed. I dont really care for cost but looking for a good SSL certificate which ideally gives me absolutely no pain and best performance. Recommendations?

    Hi, I have a nginx server with 5 backend servers. We serve around 400-500 requests/second. I have started getting a large number of Upstream Timed out errors (110: Connection timed out) Error string in error.log looks like 2011/01/10 21:59:46 [error] 1153#0: *1699246778 upstream timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream, client: {IP}, server: {domain}, request: "GET {URL} HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://{backend_server}:80/{url}", host: "{domain}", referrer: "{referrer}" Any suggestions how to debug such errors. I am unable to find a munin plugin to keep a check on number of upstream errors. Sometime the number of errors per day is way too high and somedays its a more decent 3 digit number. A munin graph would probably help us finding out any pattern or correlation with anything else How can we make the number of such error as ZERO

  • Amazon EC2 open ports for security groups present in other accounts

    Hi, Assume, I am having 2 ec2 accounts (say A and B), both have different list of security groups. Now I want to open a particular port (say 80) for an instance running in account A, to account B. ie, I want to only allow account B instances, to access account A's 80 port.
