  I'm currently trying to send mails via bash script on linux I searched the internet and found this code: echo "This is my body" | mail -s"this is my header" [email protected] I don't get any response either in the bash nor when I type it directly in the command line. I waited for at least 3 hours now and still got no mail. I just found that the log says stat=Deferred: Connection timed out with backup-mx.mcs.de. when sending to my Mail address but also has some entries with to<[email protected]> and stat=Sent greetings

• After updating debian lenny, ps stops recognising my users

  Since upgrading my debian lenny box with apt-get, ps seems to be behaving strangely, and also if i run top i see under the user column the ids, not the names. whoami => foo ps -U foo => ERROR: User name does not exist. • Attempting to install netgear N300 Wireless USB Adapter on Ubuntu without a present internet connection

  Hello Linux/Ubuntu world out there. I don't have internet presently on the desktop I am trying to install the USB wireless adapter on. This seems to be the problem, which if the hardware would work would theoretically fix the problem. I can NOT access the internet via anything but wireless. I am presently on my laptop searching for answers while trying to install this little device. So any advice will have to take that into account. Now I have tried so far, using WINE which does not want to work, I have tried Windows Wireless Drivers which doesn't want to work, I have tried Software Sources, Other Software and it will not acknowledge the cdrom as a repository stating errors like E:Unable to stat the mount point /cdrom/ -stat (2: No such file or directory) However I can open the CD icon on my computer and access and browse the files. The computer can read the CD. I can read the CD. I've tried just plugging it in and seeing if the computer will automatically recognize the hardware, and go from there. That does not work either. I have tested USB port to just verify that the USB port works. It does. My laptop recognizes the hardware, and would easily install the software if I prompted it to. The difference is that my laptop is Vista, and I HATE Vista. Any tips, tricks?

  Is there any way to kill a zombie process without reboot?Here is how it happens: I wanted to download a 12GB torrent.After adding the .torrent file, transmission turned into a zombie process.I tried ktorrent too.Same behavior.Finally I could download the file using µTorrent but after closing the program, it turns into a zombie as well. I tried using kill skill and pkill with different options and -9 signal but no success. In some answers in web I found out killing the parent can kill the zombie, but killing wine didn't help either. Is there another way? • Drupal on an NFS share has terrible performance

  We have a setup where a Drupal 7 site with the following setup - a VMware ESXi 4.1 host server running a web vm and an NFS VM. The web VM is using Apache and mod_php. The site is still in development thus we have to turn off all forms of caching due to the frequently-updated files. Each page request takes around 15-20 seconds to complete. Profiling the PHP code shows that the vast majority of time (normally over 90%) is taking by all the is_dir(), is_file() function calls that load up the modules. I've increased PHP's realpath cache size to several megs and an strace shows that the lstat calls then drop from over 200 to around 6 and stat() decreases a bit (around 600 calls). However, while this has shaved off quite a bit of time, I am simply unable to break past the 10 second per request barrier. Is there a way to get better performance out of this setup that doesn't involve caching?   Some of the mails for a particular domain are not getting delivered from our mail server. We are using sendmail for mail server. Fallowing can be seen in log Oct 21 13:24:59 mailser sendmail[5407]: r9L7st1a005405: to=<[email protected]>, delay=00:00:03, xdelay=00:00:03, mailer=esmtp, pri=120539, relay=mailgw.test.in. [164.X.X.19], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (ok: Message 289953693 accepted) FOr other domains like yahoo , gmail etc it is working fine . But if I send the mail through commandline using mailx command from the same server , the message is going through... • Fastest security check of file tree on NFS

  I am currently experiencing very bad performance using the following on an NFS network folder: time find . | while read f; do test -L "$f" && f=$(readlink -m $f); grp="$(stat -c %G $f)"; perm="$(stat -c %A $f)"; done Question 1) Within the loop permissions are checked using the variables grp and perm. Is there a way to lower the amount of disc I/O for these kind of checks over the network (e.g. read all meta data at once using find)? Question 2) It seems like the NFS isn't tuned very well, the same operation on a similar network link via SSHFS take only one third of the time. All parameters are auto-negotiated. Any suggestions?

  I'm designing a piece of a game where the AI needs to determine which combination of armor will give the best overall stat bonus to the character. Each character will have about 10 stats, of which only 3-4 are important, and of those important ones, a few will be more important than the others. Armor will also give a boost to 1 or all stats. For example, a shirt might give +4 to the character's int and +2 stamina while at the same time, a pair of pants may have +7 strength and nothing else. So let's say that a character has a healthy choice of armor to use (5 pairs of pants, 5 pairs of gloves, etc.) We've designated that Int and Perception are the most important stats for this character. How could I write an algorithm that would determine which combination of armor and items would result in the highest of any given stat (say in this example Int and Perception)?

• Catching errors in ANTLR and finding parent

  I have found out that I can catch errors during parsing by overwriting displayRecognitionError, but how do I find the parent "node" of this error? ex. if I have the grammar: prog: stat expr; stat: STRING; expr: INTEGER; And give it the input "abc def". Then I will get an error at "def" which should be an integer. At this point I then want to get the parent which is "expr" (since it fails inside the INTEGER part) and it's parent "prog". Kind of like printing stack trace in java. I tried to look at the node from RecognitionException parsed to displayRecognitionError, but it is null, and using CommonErrorNode the parent is null. Should I maybe take a completely different approach?

• problem with dropdownlist in mvc application

  Hello, I am trying to work with an HTML.DropDownList in MVC and am not getting the expected return values. Here is my implementation for the selectList to bind to the drop down - IEnumerable<status> stat = _provider.GetAllStatuses(); Statuses = new SelectList(stat.ToList(), "id", "name", i.status.id); And here is my view - <%= Html.DropDownList("Status",Model.Statuses) %> I am getting an error when trying to run updatemodel in my controller. I then tried to individually set each object. It turns out that I am not getting a single int from the formvalue as I would expect to. Instead, I am getting a value like "5,10,2,3". I think this is coming from how I set up my selectlist, but I'm not exactly sure. Can anyone see an error in the way I am setting up this dd? Thanks for any help, and let me know if I can clarify anything.

• C Named pipe (fifo). Parent process gets stuck

  I'm designing a piece of a game where the AI needs to determine which combination of armor will give the best overall stat bonus to the character. Each character will have about 10 stats, of which only 3-4 are important, and of those important ones, a few will be more important than the others. Armor will also give a boost to 1 or all stats. For example, a shirt might give +4 to the character's int and +2 stamina while at the same time, a pair of pants may have +7 strength and nothing else. So let's say that a character has a healthy choice of armor to use (5 pairs of pants, 5 pairs of gloves, etc.) We've designated that Int and Perception are the most important stats for this character. How could I write an algorithm that would determine which combination of armor and items would result in the highest of any given stat (say in this example Int and Perception)?

• sendmail can not relay from itself

  I am running 3 centos 5.2 servers and I have configured the server for forward all messages to root to be emailed to me via .forward rule. This is working fine on two of the servers but not on the third. I have also tried copying the mail config files from the backup server and placing them on the file server and restarting sendmail. I also removed and reinstalled sendmail via yum but the results are the same. I am not sure what the issue could be they are all standard centos installs. • Insufficient permissions when calling flickr.auth.oauth.checkToken

  This is a follow up on another question I had asked on stackoverflow a day or so ago. I'm working on trying to call flickr.people.getPhotos... but no matter what I do I keep getting this... jsonFlickrApi({"stat":"fail", "code":99, "message":"Insufficient permissions. Method requires read privileges; none granted."}); but if you were to look at my "Apps You're Using" page (on flickr) you'd see this. So, even though I've authorized the max permissions... flickr says I don't have any granted!?
