  • Configuring DSVL to show camera images from Logitech9000 webcam

    I am trying to view camera feed from a Logitech9000 camera using DSVL(DirectShow Video Library) http://sourceforge.net/projects/dsvideolib/. The xml file currently looks as below: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <dsvl_input xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="C:\Documents and Settings\Thomas\My Documents\projects\ARToolKit &amp; DSVideoLib\ARVideoLib\DsVideoLib\DsVideoLib.xsd"> <camera show_format_dialog="false" friendly_name="Logitech Webcam Pro 9000"> <pixel_format> <RGB24 flip_v="false"/> </pixel_format> </camera> </dsvl_input> However, the image that comes up looks vertically inverted. I tried changing the flip_v value to true in the config above but it did not make any difference. Any suggestions?

    Hi I have a Creative Life CAM Optia AF webcam, the software included in the package is able to control the camera in different ways, like set autofocus to auto or manual, and a bunch of gamma and brightness settings. I'm capturing the feed with the AForge Computer vision library, and it's working great. But i would like to be able to set the manual focus from inside my application. Ive been searching for a tutorial, but come up empty handed. Can i somehow either disassemble the included software, or is there some way to fetch the traffic / instructions being sent to the device?   • Creating an image from webcam every x miliseconds

    Hello everyone, I am using c# to integrate with a web cam. I need to generate a snapshot image every x miliseconds and save it to file. I already have the code up and running to save to file on a button click event, however I wonder what am I supposed to do when taking snapshots in the background - Should this be multi threaded? I'm honestly not sure. I could just block the UI thread, put Thread.Sleep and then just take the snapshot, but I don't know if this is right. I thought of using a background worker, but I am now experiencing cross threaded difficulties with SendMessage... So I wonder if I should even go and bother to multi-thread or just block the UI. Help greatly appertained, thanks in advance.

    I think I have finally arrived at an insolvable equation: Chromium v.7 + Ubuntu 10.04 + Sun Java 6 + Webcam + Facebook + Flash 10 = non-functional All of those items listed above are potential points of failure in this situation, and any help narrowing them down would be fantastic. I am simply trying to enable webcame support directly through Facebooks website. Forum searches and the usual googling turn up few posts related to this specific equation. Two of the major suggestions include: 1) Installing the Sun (I refuse to say oracle sob)-provided Java implementation instead of the OpenJDK normally installed in ubuntu. And yes, after installing it, I did update all my default supports to use the sun commands over the openjdk. 2) Somehow enabling Facebook as a permitted site to access my webcam using Flash settings. I have not been able to explore option 2 because I cannot find a way to adjust the Flash settings in chromium 7. Other factors that do not help include the fact that I am pretty sure facebook changes its webcam interface every 10 seconds just to keep troubleshooters and support personnel on their toes. If anyone has a OTP that informs us of the next shift in the app, a leak would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

    I'm simply trying to run the basic openCV hello world tutorial code, but I'm getting errors. I have everything properly linked and built, but it's not working. This seems like it should be extremely easy, but it's not working.   • White screen on webcam site using Flash Player

    I browsed a webcam site with flash player 10 and it works perfectly. But there is a private chat section and when I enter it I see a big white rectangle where the webcam and chat box should be. What is the problem - it is definitely the flash player, as the page does not prompt me to download the latest flash player... The site was working fine until last week. Does anybody know how to Re-install flash player?

    I have noticed high CPU utilization in a number of applications (except mplayer) which read from the embedded webcam on my laptop. Bizarrely CPU utilization varies proportionately to the level of illumination present. I know that that high CPU usage has nothing to do with rendering the video, as I have written a simple app using the OpenCV library to simply grab frames from the webcam, and cpu usage is still high. I think that mplayer might be using my GPU (and the other apps aren't), but since its not an issue with rendering, I dont think this explains anything. Cheese Low light --- ~12% CPU Bright Light ---- ~63% CPU Camorama Low light --- ~7% CPU Bright Light ---- ~30% CPU Opencv C++ library, (display in a single highgui window) Low light --- ~13% CPU Bright Light ---- ~40% CPU (same test on windows 7, 4-9%) Mplayer No problem, 1-2% regardless of light levels Note: If all I want't to do is capture a feed from my webcam I would use mplayer and forget about it, but I'm developing an application which uses the OpenCV to capture a video feed among other things, performance is important.

    I've installed Ubuntu 13.04 on a Lenovo G580. Now I noticed that the built-in (web)cam is not being recognized. Does anybody know how to fix this and get the webcam running? Any help is appreciated! Thanks I've downloaded/installed the suggested program and the webcam is working within that program. However, when running Camera Test from the System Testing here's what happens: when clicking on "Test", there's NO image showing up a few seconds after clicking on "Test", an error message is popping up saying "Sorry, Ubuntu 13.04 has experienced an internal error" When going to Skype, video is enable and under "select webcam" there's "Lenovo EasyCamera (/dev/video0) as only option selected. But, Skype doesn't recognize the camera as there's no pictures. Any ideas on how to get this straightened out?

    I am using Windows 7 Professional 64bit. This is my webcam. It is first time using this webcam in my pc. It's name is A4tech - PK-331F. When I plugged that webcam, windows start installing drivers automatically but unfortunately it installed wrong drivers. The drivers Windows 7 installed are Vimicro USB 2.0 PC Camera (Venus) and these drivers aren't related to this webcam. Now I did some modifications to windows so it isn't installing drivers automatically but whenever I plug that webcam but same name of drivers and doesn't install it. I think because of it, I can't install it's original drivers. I don't want Windows recognize this webcam with this name. How can I prevent Windows from doing this?.

    I want to host one way webcam Q&A's/AMA's and embed it on my sites webpage. I must be able to have specified hosts for these Q&A's connect quickly and easily to the webpage, and read user posted messages (questions) for interaction. I know there are some systems out there, like tinychat, but I'm unaware if there is anything exactly used for what I am looking for. Perhaps requiring a specific account/password before allowing streaming on the page, where I can email the host a password or directions to create an account to begin live streaming.     after much research ang googling, my web cam is still not recognized. In the time of Ubuntu 11.04 it was working fine. I did a fresh install of 11.10 and not more web cam. All the cheese and camera monotor and V4L tests and all failes with "cannot connect to /dev/video0" or equivalent. The output of 'lsusb' shows the webcam Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05a9:2640 OmniVision Technologies, Inc. OV2640 Webcam What I noticed is that neither /dev/v4l nor /dev/video* exists. If I re-install the v4l package all the /dev/video* are created, but no /dev/v4l If I reboot the /dev/video* are NOT created. I think the trouble is that the device are not created at boot time. I have a DELL Inspiron 1525 and until this fresh install the web cam worked fine. Can somebody help ? Thanks a lot Richard
