  • How do you overide a class that is called by another class with parent::method

    - by dan.codes
    I am trying to extend Mage_Catalog_Block_Product_View I have it setup in my local directory as its own module and everything works fine, I wasn't getting the results that I wanted. I then saw that another class extended that class as well. The method I am trying to override is the protected function _prepareLayout() This is the function class Mage_Review_Block_Product_View extends Mage_Catalog_Block_Product_View protected function _prepareLayout() { $this-&gt;getLayout()-&gt;createBlock('catalog/breadcrumbs'); $headBlock = $this-&gt;getLayout()-&gt;getBlock('head'); if ($headBlock) { $title = $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getMetaTitle(); if ($title) { $headBlock-&gt;setTitle($title); } $keyword = $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getMetaKeyword(); $currentCategory = Mage::registry('current_category'); if ($keyword) { $headBlock-&gt;setKeywords($keyword); } elseif($currentCategory) { $headBlock-&gt;setKeywords($this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getName()); } $description = $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getMetaDescription(); if ($description) { $headBlock-&gt;setDescription( ($description) ); } else { $headBlock-&gt;setDescription( $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getDescription() ); } } return parent::_prepareLayout(); } I am trying to modify it just a bit with the following, keep in mind I know there is a title prefix and suffix but I needed it only for the product page and also I needed to add text to the description. class MyCompany_Catalog_Block_Product_View extends Mage_Catalog_Block_Product_View protected function _prepareLayout() { $storeId = Mage::app()-&gt;getStore()-&gt;getId(); $this-&gt;getLayout()-&gt;createBlock('catalog/breadcrumbs'); $headBlock = $this-&gt;getLayout()-&gt;getBlock('head'); if ($headBlock) { $title = $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getMetaTitle(); if ($title) { if($storeId == 2){ $title = "Pool Supplies Fast - " .$title; $headBlock-&gt;setTitle($title); } $headBlock-&gt;setTitle($title); }else{ $path = Mage::helper('catalog')-&gt;getBreadcrumbPath(); foreach ($path as $name =&gt; $breadcrumb) { $title[] = $breadcrumb['label']; } $newTitle = "Pool Supplies Fast - " . join($this-&gt;getTitleSeparator(), array_reverse($title)); $headBlock-&gt;setTitle($newTitle); } $keyword = $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getMetaKeyword(); $currentCategory = Mage::registry('current_category'); if ($keyword) { $headBlock-&gt;setKeywords($keyword); } elseif($currentCategory) { $headBlock-&gt;setKeywords($this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getName()); } $description = $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getMetaDescription(); if ($description) { if($storeId == 2){ $description = "Pool Supplies Fast - ". $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getName() . " - " . $description; $headBlock-&gt;setDescription( ($description) ); }else{ $headBlock-&gt;setDescription( ($description) ); } } else { if($storeId == 2){ $description = "Pool Supplies Fast: ". $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getName() . " - " . $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getDescription(); $headBlock-&gt;setDescription( ($description) ); }else{ $headBlock-&gt;setDescription( $this-&gt;getProduct()-&gt;getDescription() ); } } } return Mage_Catalog_Block_Product_Abstract::_prepareLayout(); } This executs fine but then I notice that the following class Mage_Review_Block_Product_View_List extends which extends Mage_Review_Block_Product_View and that extends Mage_Catalog_Block_Product_View as well. Inside this class they call the _prepareLayout as well and call the parent with parent::_prepareLayout() class Mage_Review_Block_Product_View_List extends Mage_Review_Block_Product_View protected function _prepareLayout() { parent::_prepareLayout(); if ($toolbar = $this-&gt;getLayout()-&gt;getBlock('product_review_list.toolbar')) { $toolbar-&gt;setCollection($this-&gt;getReviewsCollection()); $this-&gt;setChild('toolbar', $toolbar); } return $this; } So obviously this just calls the same class I am extending and runs the function I am overiding but it doesn't get to my class because it is not in my class hierarchy and since it gets called after my class all the stuff in the parent class override what I have set. I'm not sure about the best way to extend this type of class and method, there has to be a good way to do this, I keep finding I am running into issues when trying to overide these prepare methods that are derived from the abstract classes, there seems to be so many classes overriding them and calling parent::method. What is the best way to override these functions?

  • Regular Expression to match unlimited number of options

    - by Pekka
    I want to be able to parse file paths like this one: /var/www/index.(htm|html|php|shtml) into an ordered array: array("htm", "html", "php", "shtml") and then produce a list of alternatives: /var/www/index.htm /var/www/index.html /var/www/index.php /var/www/index.shtml Right now, I have a preg_match statement that can split two alternatives: preg_match_all ("/\(([^)]*)\|([^)]*)\)/", $path_resource, $matches); Could somebody give me a pointer how to extend this to accept an unlimited number of alternatives (at least two)? Just regarding the regular expression, the rest I can deal with. The rule is: The list needs to start with a ( and close with a ) There must be one | in the list (i.e. at least two alternatives) Any other occurrence(s) of ( or ) are to remain untouched.

  • Displaying change of content through parent

    - by Mikhail
    I have DHTML content inside a fieldset. This includes plain html, nested objects (even other fieldsets), and value change of input, select, and textarea objects. I'd like to change the border of the fieldset if the contents have been changed. The following works: $('fieldset[name=qsfs127]').children('input').change(function(){ $(this).parent('fieldset').css({border:'1px solid red'}); }) This handles the input; I can extend it to select and textarea. Questions: How can I do the same for html changes? Can all of this change-tracking be done by comparing current html() to stored one? If yes for (2), will this handle cases of "undo"? Edit: I have a button that ajax-uploads contents, and saves the changes. I then remove the border color

  • How to make Dajax callback into scoped object

    - by BozoJoe
    I cant seem to find a way to make django-dajaxice have its callback inside same scoped object from which made the initial call. MyViewport = Ext.extend(MyViewportUi, { initComponent: function() { MyViewport.superclass.initComponent.call(this); }, LoadRecordsCallback: function(data){ if(data!='DAJAXICE_EXCEPTION') { alert(data); } else { alert('DAJAXICE_EXCEPTION'); } }, LoadRecords: function(){ Dajaxice.Console.GetUserRecords(this.LoadRecordsCallback); } }); var blah = new MyViewport(); blah.LoadRecords(); I'm on django, and like the calling syntax to django-dajaxice. I'm using Extjs 3.2 and tried passing a Ext.createCallback but Dajax's returning eval seems to only want a string for the callback.

  • Getter/Setter from separate class file in Java

    - by Crystal
    I'm new to Java and for a HW assignment, we had to create a Person class that has a constructor, getter/setter for the attributes of firstName, lastName, phone. That is in a separate file from an old HW assignment (Person.java). Now we have to use that Person class in our new HW assignment (LoanApplication.java). So if one of the attributes is private Person client do I need to create getter/setters or a constructor again? Otherwise, how does each LoanApplicaiton instance know which Person attribute it is to go with? How does the JVM know that it can use the Person.class even though my LoanApplicaiton.class does not extend Person.class? Thanks.

  • How to make a plugin for [Path] Finder to browse zip-archives as folders?

    - by Andrei
    What really surprises me is lack of some essential functionality in Finder, when one migrates from Windows to OS X. One of the things is a possibility to open an archive as a folder, i.e. staying in the directory tree and being able to drag and drop files from the archive to folders in the tree, sidebar etc. What would you do to enable such functionality? Update Path Finder is an awesome shareware app, which I am going to use instead of the standard Finder (as quite many Mac users do), so I am more interested in a plug-in for Path Finder to browse archives. There is a possibility to browse packages (check the View Options), so I believe it is possible to extend it to archives. There is also a SDK for making plugins for Path Finder. The only question - how to make the plugin, so all struggling people get finally happy?

  • Fallback to another existing MIME type when the required is missing in Rails

    - by fifigyuri
    I want to extend the existing supported HTML type of my site by support for iPhone. For this I registered a new MIME type. I created a layout for iphone and also converted some of the html views to iphone version. However, I did not convert all of the html.erb files. I do not see the reason to convert all views, some of them should not change, some partials simply just remain the same. I guess there should be a solution for this case. I tried to search for ways how to fallback to an existing format, but did not find any answer. Does a way to define fallback for MIME types in Rails exist? How does it work? If it doesn't exist and thus I wanted to solve the issue not the right way, what could simply solve the task of extending an existing site by another format? Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Clojure multimethod dispatching on functions and values

    - by Josh Glover
    I have a function that returns the indexes in seq s at which value v exists: (defn indexes-of [v s] (map first (filter #(= v (last %)) (zipmap (range) s)))) What I'd like to do is extend this to apply any arbitrary function for the existence test. My idea is to use a multimethod, but I'm not sure exactly how to detect a function. I want to do this: (defmulti indexes-of ???) (defmethod indexes-of ??? [v s] ;; v is a function (map first (filter v (zipmap (range) s)))) (defmethod indexes-of ??? [v s] ;; v is not a function (indexes-of #(= v %) s)) Is a multimethod the way to go here? If so, how can I accomplish what I'm trying to do?

  • ActionScript 3 Context Menu Per Sprite?

    - by TheDarkIn1978
    is it not possible to have different context menus for different sprites on the stage? i've tried adding a custom context menu to a sprite but it's applied to the entire stage: mySprite.contextMenu = myMenu; then after reading the documentation where it states: You can attach a ContextMenu object to a specific button, movie clip, or text field object, or to an entire movie level. You use the menu property of the Button, MovieClip, or TextField class to do this. ok, so i though i had to write it like: mySprite.menu.contextMenu = myMenu; only to be greeted with a nice migration issue stating that menu is legacy code and to use contextMenu instead. ??? um, thanks for the headsup, documentation. this process would be entirely much more easier if i could extend the ContextMenu, but for some reason it's marked as "final" and can't be extended... i'm sure adobe's reasons for finalizing the context menu class are as good as their reasons for including misleading documentation. thoughts?

  • Android ImageButton / Custom-Button?

    - by user568306
    Hi everyone, I am new to android development. So far I could help myself in all matters by reading threads here on stackoverflow. Now I am stuck and need someones help. Unfortunately I am not allowed to post an image of a screenshot because I am a new mamber, so I try to descripe it. I have a Samsung Galasy S and the clock app that ships with it has an button called "+ Create alarm". I want to create a similar button for my app. I've been experimenting with ImageButton. I do know how to get that "+"-Icon onto an ImageButton, but only centered and without text. I guess this is a custom button. Does anyone know how to do this? Can I do it in xml or do I need to extend the view-class and make it my own view?

  • Backbone collection's URL depends on initialize function

    - by egidra
    I have a Backbone collection whose URL depends on the initialize function. When I create an instance of this Backbone collection, I pass in an ID to filter which instances of the model appear. Here is what the collection's code looks like: var GoalUpdateList = Backbone.Collection.extend({ // Reference the Goal Update model model: GoalUpdate, // Do HTTP requests on this endpoint url: "http://localhost:8000/api/v1/goal_update/?goal__id=" + this.goal_id + "&format=json", // Set the goal ID that the goal update list corresponds to initialize: function(goal_id) { this.goal_id = goal_id; console.log(this.goal_id); console.log(this.url); }, }); Of course, this doesn't work. this.goal_id is seen as being undefined. I guess because the URL is set before the initialization function is run.

  • SQL to return the rownum of a specific row? (using Oracle db)

    - by jedierikb
    In Oracle 10g, I have this SQL: select dog.id as dogId from CANINES dog order by dog.codename asc which returns: id -- 204 203 206 923 I want to extend this query to determine the oracle rownum of a dog.id in this resultset. I have tried select rownum from (select dog.id as dogId from CANINES dog order by dog.codename asc) where dog.id=206 But this does not work out very well (it returns 1 no matter which dog.id I match on). I was expecting to get back 3. Thanks for your help! Notes http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/06-sep/o56asktom.html I am pretty sure I do not need to use rowid

  • extending spring form tag library attributes

    - by TimmyJ
    I'm using Spring's form tag library in a Spring MVC application that I am developing. The company I am working for has implemented some company-wide policies based on the definition of custom attributes for certain tags. For instance, by default (though the inclusion of a standard javascript file) all tags have their values automatically converted to upper case. In order to disable this one would define their tag with a custom attribute in the following way: <input type="text" uppercase="false" /> The problem is that the addition of these custom attributes to a spring:form tag causes an error at runtime. I've pasted the error below. org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /WEB-INF/jsp/reportCriteria.jsp(45,5) Attribute uppercase invalid for tag input according to TLD My question is: is there any way to extend the TLD to allow for these attributes, or is there any other way add these custom attributes to these spring:form tags?

  • Best practice for near reuse of model components?

    - by Chris Knight
    I have a requirement to use a Fund model in my code. It will contain a fund name and fund code. In the interest of reuse I've poked around the package containing the other models used and found an existing Fund model. However the issue here is that, in addition to fund name and code, it also contains an amount. Amount isn't directly relevant in my context. So, do I: 1) Use the existing Fund model as is, ignoring the setters/getters for fund amount. 2) Put a FundDescription interface onto the existing Fund model for accessing only the information I'm interested in. 3) Make a FundDescription base class from which the existing Fund model could now extend 4) Create a whole new seperate model since the two are slightly contextually different

  • How do I scope variables properly in jQuery?

    - by safetycopy
    I'm working on a jQuery plugin, but am having some trouble getting my variables properly scoped. Here's an example from my code: (function($) { $.fn.ksana = function(userOptions) { var o = $.extend({}, $.fn.ksana.defaultOptions, userOptions); return this.each(function() { alert(rotate()); // o is not defined }); }; function rotate() { return Math.round(o.negRot + (Math.random() * (o.posRot - o.negRot))); }; $.fn.ksana.defaultOptions = { negRot: -20, posRot: 20 }; })(jQuery); I'm trying to get the private function rotate to be able to see the o variable, but it just keeps alerting 'o is not defined'. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

  • Click Function on jQuery plugin only allows for single click

    - by user1427307
    I've created this simple plugin to add multiple animations on click but the problem is that once the object is clicked it can not repeat the animation by clicking again, i can't figure out why the added class is not removing itself after the click function is complete to allow it to be clicked again and repeat.. any suggestions? (function($) { $.fn.vivify = function(options) { var defaults = { animation: 'bounce', }; var options = $.extend(defaults, options); return this.each(function() { var o = options; var obj = $(this); var animation = o.animation; obj.bind("click", function() { obj.addClass(o.animation); obj.addClass('vivify'); }, function() { obj.removeClass(o.animation); }); }) } })(jQuery);

  • Converting a stopwatch time to milliseconds (regex)

    - by Nick
    I'm trying to figure out the best way to convert a string containing a time to an integer number of milliseconds. I'm using a suboptimal way using a bunch of preg_match()'s and some array handling, but I was wondering if there was an elegant way. Here are some example stopwatch times (some wouldn't actually be seen on a stopwatch but need to be converted anyway): 3:34:05.81 34:05 5 (just 5 seconds) 89 (89 seconds) 76:05 (76 minutes, 5 seconds) Millseconds will not extend past 2 decimal places. You can give me an example using either PHP or Javascript regex functions. Thanks!

  • Adding fields to a proxied class in Clojure

    - by mikera
    I'm using "proxy" to extend various Swing classes in a Clojure GUI application, generally with code that looks something like: (def ^JPanel mypanel (proxy [JPanel] [] (paintComponent [#^Graphics g] (.drawImage g background-image 0 0 nil)))) This works well but I can't figure out how to add additional fields to the newly extended class, for example making the background-image a field that could be subsequently updated. This would be pretty easy and common practice in Java. Is there a good way to do this in Clojure? Or is there another preferred method to achieve the same effect?

  • How to define a function which repeats itself when passed an argument

    - by ~unutbu
    Is there an easy way to define a function which repeats itself when passed an argument? For example, I've defined the following function (defun swap-sign () (interactive) (search-forward-regexp "[+-]") (if (equal (match-string 0) "-") (replace-match "+") (replace-match "-")) ) I'd like C-u swap-sign to call swap-sign four times. I've tried (defun swap-sign (&optional num) (interactive) (let ((counter 0) (num (if num (string-to-number num) 0))) (while (<= counter num) (search-forward-regexp "[+-]") (if (equal (match-string 0) "-") (replace-match "+") (replace-match "-")) (setq counter (1+ counter))))) but C-u swap-sign still only runs swap-sign (or perhaps more precisely, the body of the while-loop) once. I'm guessing it is because if num is not the right way to test if num is an empty string. Am I on the right track, or is there a better/easier way to extend swap-sign?

  • Creating quick GUI front ends

    - by Jeenu
    Hi, I wanted to have a GUI front-end for a script that accepts numerous command-line options, most of them are UNIX paths. So I thought rather than typing them in (even with auto-completion) every time, I'd create a GUI front end which contains text boxes with buttons beside them, which when clicked will invoke the file browser dialogue. Later, I thought I'd extend this to other scripts which would sure require a different set of GUI elements. This made me think if there's any existing app that would let me create a GUI dialog, after parsing some kind of description of the items that I want that window should contain. I know of programs like Zenity, but I think it's doesn't give me what I want. For example, if I were to use it for the first script, it'll end up flashing sequence of windows in succession rather than getting everything done from a single window. So, basically I'm looking at some program that lets me create a window from a text description, probably XML or the like. Please suggest. Thanks Jeenu

  • Refactoring method that was previously injected with implement

    - by ryber
    Greetings, I'm trying to override or extend the Element.show() and .hide() methods in mootools in order to add some WAI-Aria toggling. I was trying to use the Class.Refactor() method like this: Element = Class.refactor(Element, { show: function(displayString) { result = this.previous(displayString); // Do my thing return result; }, hide: function() { result = this.previous(); // Do my thing return result; } }); however, this is not working, previous is null and I think the reason is that Mootools injects those methods through Element.implement. So the methods are not native? I have figured out how to completely replace .show and .hide but I would like to retain all of their existing functionality and just add to it. Any ideas?

  • NHibernate: Dynamically swapping a single domain model between multiple physical data models

    - by Nigel
    Hi In this article Ayende describes how to map a single domain model to multiple physical data models. Is it possible to extend this principle such that the mapping can chosen dynamically? So for example, imagine we had an entity that could be written to the same physical schema in three ways depending on its current status, and lets assume that regardless of status each entity had a unique identifier. One solution would be to represent the entity in its different states with three separate classes: one for each mapping. Then the entity could be loaded and in order to change its state the entity could be mapped to a class representing one of its other states and then saved back to the schema, making use of a different mapping. I was wondering if it is at all possible to have the same entity represented by one class that held a status flag (kind of like a discriminator), and any save to the schema would choose the appropriate mapping based on the value of the status flag. Hopefully that made sense! Many thanks.

  • Call methods on native Javascript types without wrapping with ()

    - by Anurag
    In Javascript, we can call methods on string literals directly without enclosing it within round brackets. But not for other types such as numbers, or functions. It is a syntax error, but is there a reason as to why the Javascript lexer needs these other types to be enclosed in round brackets? For example, if we extend Number, String, and Function with an alert method and try calling this method on the literals, it's a SyntaxError for Number and Function, while it works for a String. function alertValue() { alert(this); } Number.prototype.alert = alertValue; String.prototype.alert = alertValue; Function.prototype.alert = alertValue; We can call alert directly on a string object: "someStringLiteral".alert() // alerts someStringLiteral but it's a SyntaxError on numbers, and functions. 7.alert(); function() {}.alert(); To work with these types, we have to enclose it within brackets: (7).alert(); // alerts "7" (function() {}).alert(); // alerts "function() {}"

  • What is __path__ useful for?

    - by Jason Baker
    I had never noticed the __path__ attribute that gets defined on some of my packages before today. According to the documentation: Packages support one more special attribute, __path__. This is initialized to be a list containing the name of the directory holding the package’s __init__.py before the code in that file is executed. This variable can be modified; doing so affects future searches for modules and subpackages contained in the package. While this feature is not often needed, it can be used to extend the set of modules found in a package. Could somebody explain to me what exactly this means and why I would ever want to use it?

  • C++: Overload != When == Overloaded

    - by Mark W
    Say I have a class where I overloaded the operator == as such: Class A { ... public: bool operator== (const A &rhs) const; ... }; ... bool A::operator== (const A &rhs) const { .. return isEqual; } I already have the operator == return the proper Boolean value. Now I want to extend this to the simple opposite (!=). I would like to call the overloaded == operator and return the opposite, i.e. something of the nature bool A::operator!= (const A &rhs) const { return !( this == A ); } Is this possible? I know this will not work, but it exemplifies what I would like to have. I would like to keep only one parameter for the call: rhs. Any help would be appreciated, because I could not come up with an answer after several search attempts.
