• How to force div to appear below not next to another?

    - by Vafello
    I would like to place my div below the list, but actually it is placed next to the list.The list is generated dynamically, so it doesn't have a fixed hight. I would like to have the map div on the right, and on the left (next to the map) the list placed on top and the second div below the list. #map { float:left; width:700px; height:500px; } #list { float:left; width:200px; background:#eee; list-style:none; padding:0; } #similar { float:left; width:200px; background:#000; }

this text should be below, not next to ul.
Any ideas?

  • Java Box Class: Unsolvable: aligning components to the left or right

    - by user323186
I have been trying to left align buttons contained in a Box to the left, with no success. They align left alright, but for some reason dont shift all the way left as one would imagine. I attach the code below. Please try compiling it and see for yourself. Seems bizarre to me. • Pointing layout_above to an external ID?

    - by Joren
When I try to use layout_above to position a view above another view, it can't find the ID if it's not in the same XML file. I'm adding my XML files at run time but I still want to be able to position them relative to eachother. Any suggestions?

  • CSS/JS: Evenly spreading elements across multiple lines

    - by David Lawson
How would you go about evenly spreading elements across multiple lines, for example: wrapper div:
elements inside:
Element
Instead of only having one element on the next line (wrapped): Element 1 Element 2 Element 3 Element 4 Element 5 Element 6 It does this, spreading out the elements: Element 1 Element 2 Element 3 Element 4 Element 5 Element 6

  • disable scrolling in an iframe

    - by timkl
Is there a way to disable scrolling all together in an iframe? I have an iframe where the content exceeds the iframe dimensions, setting scrolling=no only removes the scrollbars but doesn't disable scrolling. I don't have control over the head of the iframe-html, so I can't style my way out it. Any ideas?

  • div content margin pushing container

    - by jef2904
    Hi, Im running into an issue that's really baffleing me. I have a container that I want to apply a background to an postion it in the top right of the browser screen. The div inside has a top margin of 4em and this is pushing the container div here is the CSS #container { background: transparent url("../images/house-bg.png") top right no-repeat scroll; } #wrapper { background: #FFF; width: 960px; height: 600px; margin: 4em auto 0; border: 10px solid #C3CF21; -moz-border-radius: 20px; -webkit-border-radius: 20px; border-radius: 20px; -moz-box-shadow: 0 0 25px #444; -webkit-box-shadow: 0 0 25px #444; box-shadow: 0 0 25px #444; } and heres the HTML

© Copyright <?php echo date("Y");?> Company, Inc.

I want the margin of the wrapper to be inside the container div instead of outside. I've tried multiple display properties and position properties to no avail. The only thing that fixes it is inserting an " " before the start of the #wrapper but theres got to be a CSS fix to this. Thanks in Advanced, Jorge

  • Float multiple fixed-width / varible-height boxes into 2 columns

    - by Jeremy H
    I'll try to explain this as best I can. I have multiple divs that are fixed-width but variable height. I want to float these boxes into two columns inside a fixed-width container. What happens when a give them all a float: left value, I get something like this: ######### ######### # box 1 # # box 2 # ######### # ..... # ......... # ..... # ......... ######### ######### ######### # box 3 # # box 4 # # ..... # # ..... # ######### ######### ######### ######### # box 5 # # box 6 # # ..... # ######### # ..... # ######### (The periods are white space) What I really would really like is the top of box 3 to touch the bottom of box 1. Any easy way to acheive this?

  • Evenly distribute items on the screen

    - by abolotnov
I am trying to solve this little puzzle (the algorithm): I have N image icons and I want to distribute them evenly on users screen. Say, I put them in a table. If there is one image, there will be one cell in a table. If two - one row with two columns, if three - one row and three columns, if four - two rows, two columns... and so on until row space is gone and since then the table should only grow in columns without adding extra rows. I'm trying to figure an algorithm for this and perhaps this is something that has a solution already somewhere? My attempt is so far something like this: obtain_max_rows() obtain_visible_columns() if (number_of_pictures > max_rows*max_columns) { columns = roundup(number_of_pictures/max_rows) for(max_rows){generate row;for columns{generate column}} } else { **here comes to trouble...** } This logic is bit silly though - it somehow needs to think cases where there are 12 pictures on first screen and 2 on the other trying to balance it say 8/6 or somehow like that.

  • What is the best way to clear the CSS style "float"?

    - by Sam Saffron
I'm pretty accustomed to clearing my floats by using
but stuff keeps on changing and I am not sure if this is the best practice. There is a CSS hack (from positioneverything) available that lets you achieve the same result without the clearing div. But... they claim the hack is a little out of date and instead you perhaps should look at this hack. But.. after reading through 700 pages of comments :) it seems there may be some places the latter hack does not work. I would like to avoid any javascript hacks cause I would like my clearing to work regardless of javascript being enabled. What is the current best practice for clearing divs in a browser independent way?

  • popup panel that docks to the bottom of the screen

    - by Michael Wiles
How do I create a pop panel that docks to the bottom of the screen... The way that I'm doing this is by setting the styling as such: bottom: 10px; position: absolute; This will always set the panel to 10 px from the bottom of the browser window. The problem is that gwt (or gwtp for that matter) is insisting on setting the right and the top of the panel and thus overriding my styling. If I use chrome's element explorer and disable the right and top style rules I get the correct behaviour so one way of doing it is somehow disabling gwt setting of the location of the panel on the screen...?

  • Simulating click with javascript on document

    - by Charlie
    Is it possible to simulate a click on a webpage using javascript but without defining a specific element, but rather just specifying the document? I would have liked to do something like this, and if the location happens to have a link, then this will be pressed: function simulateClick(x, y) { var evt = window.createEvent("MouseEvents"); evt.initMouseEvent("click", true, true, window, x, y, x, y, 1, false, false, false, false, 0, null); window.dispatchEvent(evt); }

  • Given this demo, How do I make HTML content area fit to viewport height?

    - by viatropos
I just made this demo extracting out what I'm trying to accomplish: Autosize Main Content Area I want the pink/yellow area to act according to these rules: Minimum height is the size of its content (which is variable) IF content size is smaller than viewport size Otherwise minimum height is such that it adjusts to fill the window. Checking out the source to that demo, what am I missing? I feel like this is a pretty easy case that shouldn't require javascript. Any ideas?

  • How to Use border as an image in android xml

    - by Ethan Hunt
    I have a popup to show in my xml. It should have a border. Following is the code:- <RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/rl_parent" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:paddingBottom="20dp" > <RelativeLayout android:id="@+id/rl_startpopup" android:layout_width="340dp" android:layout_height="320dp" android:layout_marginLeft="10dp" android:layout_marginRight="10dp" android:background="@drawable/popup_outline" android:orientation="vertical" /> </RelativeLayout> The popup_outline is a shape <shape xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:shape="rectangle" > <gradient android:angle="270" android:endColor="#192423" android:startColor="#4a7669" android:type="linear" /> <corners android:radius="8dp" /> <stroke android:width="2dp" android:color="#e4f4d3" /> </shape> here is the image of the popup:- This "popup_outline" is the white border shown. • Rendering blocks side-by-side with FOP

    - by Rolf
I need to generate a PDF from XML data using Apache FOP. The problem is that FOP doesn't support fo:float, and I really need to have items (boxes of rendered data) side-by-side in the PDF. More precisely, I need them in a 4x4 grid on each page, like so: In HTML, I would simply render these as left-floated divs with appropriate widths and heights. My data looks something like this:
foo bar <c>baz</c>

...
...
...
I considered using a two-column region-body, but then the order of items would be 1, 3, 2, 4 (reading from left to right) since they would be rendered tb-lr instead of lr-tb, and I need them to be in the correct order (id in above xml). I suppose I could try using a table, but I'm not quite sure how to group the items into table rows. So, some kind of workaround for the lack of fo:float would be greatly appreciated.

  • What is causing that nasty horizontal scrollbar?

    - by fmz
I am wrapping up a few touches on a site and notice that something is forcing the horizontal scrollbar to appear way beyond the container boundaries here. I have Firebugged it to death, but still can't figure out what the offending party is. I offer quick kudos to anyone that can tell me what is wrong here. Thanks!

  • How to center drawableTop and text vertically on the Button in Android?

    - by Gaks
I have the Button defined as follows: The problem is that 'drawableTop' image is aligned to the top border of the Button view. I would like to center it (together with text label) vertically on the button. 'android:gravity' seems to work only on text label. It does not affect 'drawableTop' positioning. I was able to center it vertically using 'android:paddingTop' - but that does not seem to be a good idea. I guess it would not work properly on different screen resolution/size.

  • GroupLayout: JScrollPane in TextArea is not working

    - by Dozent
i'm new in java and recently started to develop an simple application. For the moment i have a problem with JScrollPanne, it's not able to scroll down (or up) when the text in textarea more than size of area. I have looked to some solutions, but all of them were for FlowLayot (GridLayout and BoxLayout), but not for GroupLayout. Here is the code: JPanel conent_p = new JPanel(); conent_p.setBorder(new TitledBorder(null, "", TitledBorder.LEADING, TitledBorder.TOP, null, null)); JLabel lblItemName = new JLabel("Item name:"); itemField = new JTextField(); itemField.setColumns(10); JLabel lblMxPrice = new JLabel("Max price:"); mpriceField = new JTextField(); mpriceField.setColumns(10); JLabel lblQuantity = new JLabel("Quantity:"); quanField = new JTextField(); quanField.setColumns(10); JLabel lblDelivery = new JLabel("Delivery:"); delivField = new JTextField(); delivField.setColumns(10); JLabel lblLogcat = new JLabel("LogCat:"); final JTextArea txtConsole = new JTextArea(); txtConsole.setEditable(false); txtConsole.setLineWrap(true); txtConsole.setWrapStyleWord(true); sbrText = new JScrollPane(txtConsole); sbrText.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS); // Now create a new TextAreaOutputStream to write to our JTextArea control and wrap a // PrintStream around it to support the println/printf methods.
