  I'm trying to set up Subversion on Ubuntu Linux. It seems to be working, except that when I made one change and tried svn status, I found about 100 files had been changed, in the .metadata directory. My ~/.subversion/config file currently contains the following line: global-ignores = *.o *.lo *.la *.al .libs *.so *.so.[0-9]* *.a *.pyc *.pyo *.rej *~ .*.swp .DS_Store What do I need to add to ignore the .metadata files? The directory under consideration is used by Eclipse for Python development using PyDev, if that matters.

  I tried to find out how to move my working copy. I know SVN move can be used to move files and folders inside your working copy but what about the working copy itself? I want to move it because I created a branch in a folder location that's different from my branch and had updated therefore all my .NET project references. So when I go to merge back to the mainline trunk I get a bunch of tree conflicts.

• Getting "invalid XML in the response" while checking out my project from github

  I was trying to get fresh copy of my project from github using tortoise svn client. But I am getting following exception. The PROPFIND request returned invalid XML in the response: XML parse error at line 1: no element found (Checkout from https://github.com/anoopchaurasia/JavaScript-File-Manager.git) When I tried to checkout using subeclipse on Eclipse, it saying "Folder does not exist.". I am able to checkout same repository on my other system.

  What are some non commercial deployment tools that allows a developer to speficy: a branch/tag, a revision and a target machine to deploy code to?   Hello, I have setup an SVN repository for use with Apache 2 via svnadmin create command and appropriate vhost configuration. I found that, in order to correctly use the repository, this must be owned by wwwrun user (or www group) or chmodded to 777. I would like to ask if it's possible to explicitly tell Apache to impersonate another user when serving requests to a certain path (from vhost.conf), like with suphp extension, so I won't mess with permissions once I create a repository.
