• can I override/redefine "global" Javascript functions, like confirm() and alert()?

  I want to do some browser automation, and those pesky confirm/alert boxes are a real pain. Disabling javascript completely in this case is not an option, unfortunately. Well, so I was wondering, can I just change the definition of those methods as seen by my browser's javascript interpreter to basically do nothing and return true? Note that I do know about redefining them in the Javascript code directly, e.g. putting in function alert(message) { return true; } but AFAIK this is not a viable approach for this situation because when doing browser automation I have to work with other people's Javascript. Moreover, my program actually begins manipulating these websites already after the page has fully loaded into the browser, so I cannot just first automatically rewrite the javascript and then load the page. Well, so I was wondering if I could instead just "permanently" modify the way alert/confirm are implemented and executed in my browser. Sort of like the equivalent of dll injection and so forth in the realm of windows apps.

• LocalUser access for WCF hosted in IIS

  I have tried every combination to allow unauthenticated access to WCF as in "LocalUser" accounts, in IIS without success. Here is what I've most recently tried: wsHttpBinding with Message security and mode set to "None". IIS anonymous access enabled, all others disabled, folder level access at default (but granted read access to "Users" which is all users in our domain). I understand I may not have provided enough information to solve the issue, but perhaps somebody can point me in the right direction - is this likely to be a IIS configuration issue or a WCF configuration issue... if WCF, is it likely to be a client level or server level issue? The error I get when attempting to access here is "User is not authenticated". We have ASMX services in the domain which are behaving properly, I am the first developer using WCF here.

• Cropping an image, saving output to a new file and get crop coordinates

  I'm interfacing with a service that allows you to upload an image, and also upload coordinates of a thumbnail of that image. I'm thinking that (if there isn't some sort of prefab Activity specifically for this) that I can use Android's crop utility. The only problem is that I can't overwrite the original file, the crop window needs to have a custom message (instead of "crop image"), and I'll need the coordinates of the crop. Is this possible? Is there another way to do this without writing my own Activity?

• NSKeyedArchiver save method ( that i made) crashed the iphone simulator

  i saw this approach on a tutorial, and the message is working for their example but when i implement this it does not work. from what i can tell the iphone simulator crashes when i do a [ self saveSettingsData]. TheSettings is class object that i declare and initialize in the appdelagate with these methods. the error says terminating due to uncaught exception. i am new to the iphone sdk and objective, so i really can't figure out what is going on thanks to any one who can help, i am ready to literally pull my hair out. • Can't get Xdebug to work on Windows 7

  I installed the latest XAMPP package which includes PHP 5.3.0. I am trying to enable Xdebug, but it just won't work. Here's what I changed in the php.ini shipped with XAMPP: ; uncommented zend_extension = "X:\xampp\php\ext\php_xdebug.dll" ; added the following lines: xdebug.remote_enable=true xdebug.remote_host=localhost xdebug.remote_port=9000 xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp Apache starts fine, but when I open http://localhost/ in my browser, I get the following error If I click the Close the program button, the error message will reappear in a second as if it was in an infinite loop. This account exists in administrators role. after a few days I removed sadegh user from Windows and now I am using administrator user. • How to properly close a socket after an exception is caught?

  Hello, after my last project I had the problem that the client was expecting an object from the server, but while processing the clients input an exception that forces the server to close the socket for security reasons is caught. This causes the client to terminate in a very unpleasant way, the way I decided to deal with this was sending the client a Input status message after each recieved input so that he knows if his input was processed properly or if he needs to throw an exception. So my question: Is there a better/cleaner way to close the socket after an exception is caught?? thanks,

• Tomcat - Redirect to Error Page when ServletContextListener fails

  When Tomcat starts it calls my ServletContextListener to obtain a database connection, which I will later use in other servlets with getServletContext(). It is called in my web.xml as: listener listener-class org.ppdc.database.DBCPoolingListener /listener-class /listener (I removed the < because they wouldn't display properly in this message. If I cannot connect to the database when Tomcat starts up I get a 404 error, because Tomcat cannot start the application. How can I redirect the user to a custom error page at this point? I tried the following in my web.xml (I have the < brackets in the original): (error-page) (error-code404/error-code) (location/file_not_found.html/location) (/error-page) Any ideas on how to redirect a user to one of my error pages when Tomcat tries to start the application?   Hi, i got a weird problem regarding egrep and pipe I tried to filter a stream containing some lines who start with a topic name, such as "TICK:this is a tick message\n" When I try to use egrep to filter it : ./stream_generator | egrep 'TICK' | ./topic_processor It seems that the topic_processor never receives any messages However, when i use the following python script: ./stream_generator | python filter.py --topics TICK | ./topic_processor everything looks to be fine. I guess there need to be a 'flush' mechanism for egrep as well, is this correct? Can anyone here give me a clue? • How can I enable Vista/Win 7 theming/style for a ToolTip control?

  In Windows Vista and Windows 7, ToolTips have a new visual style or theme, they are shiny grey metallic. How can I enable the new style for a ToolTip control? Some controls, like ListViews and ToolBars, use the new tooltips automatically, but other tooltips are rendered with the old yellow XP style. I've tried sending an TTM_SETWINDOWTHEME message but nothing happens and I'm not sure what string I am supposed to use for the visual style name. SetWindowTheme doesn't work either, I've used it successfully on ListViews and TreeViews to set the "Explorer" style (see http://www.danielmoth.com/Blog/TreeViewVista.aspx), but that doesn't seem to work on ToolTips. I'm using the plain win32 C API.

• does PHP 5.3 change the way file_get_contents works?

  I'm having an odd issue with PHP's file_get_contents. In the past, file_get_contents on a remote file returns the text of that file regardless of the HTTP status code returned. If I hit an API and it sends back JSON error information with a status of 500, file_get_contents gives me that JSON (with no indication that an error code was encountered). I've just set up a Ubuntu 10.04 server, which is the first Ubuntu to have PHP 5.3. Instead of giving me the JSON, PHP throws a warning when a 500 error is present. As a result, I can't parse the JSON and give a nice error message. It's nice that PHP is noticing there's an error in the remote file, but I need the JSON even (especially!) if there's a 500 error. There doesn't appear to be any way to switch this off. Has anyone encountered this? Any tips?

  I am familiar with MVC/MVP though my question is simple, I'm about to program a simple Instant Messaging software when the engine and communication part is an open API. so my software will have about 3 forms, a splash screen with login details, the options form and a main form with all the functionality like: Friends List, Send message, Received messages (tabbed), search user, etc. In UI perspective, its important for the GUI to be in 1 form in my application. So my question is, for the only complicated form that I'm going to have, is it necessary to implement an MVP design pattern or in this case its better to just go straight forward and put all the logic in 1 place? • Access 2007 & 2003 : Creating an mde for 2003 users with a 2007 dev copy issues

  So i have an image on my computer that has office 2007, and I have the development copy of this database file where I corrected some code, added some fields, etc... I then converted the Access file (.mdb dev file) to Access 2002-2003 format to create an mde. So I then created the new mde, but when users try to open, it gives them the message that it is not the correct format and that they should upgrade to a newer version of access. So will i be able to get this done with having office 2007, and these other end users not having their new image pushed yet (so they still have office 2003)? I thought that if I converted the file to 2002-2003 then this should not be a problem Thanks Justin

The Help says: "You tried to link a Paradox table that was created with an international sort order that is not the same as the one you are using". What am I doing wrong? • Odd performance with C# Asynchronous server socket

  I'm working on a web server in C# and I have it running on Asynchronous socket calls. The weird thing is that for some reason, when you start loading pages, the 3rd request is where the browser won't connect. It just keeps saying "Connecting..." and doesn't ever stop. If I hit stop. and then refresh, it will load again, but if I try another time after that it does the thing where it doesn't load again. And it continues in that cycle. I'm not really sure what is making it do that. The code is kind of hacked together from a couple of examples and some old code I had. Any miscellaneous tips would be helpful as well.
