• How can I find the boundaries of a subset of a sorted list?

  I have the following dilemma: I have a list of strings, and I want to find the set of string which start with a certain prefix. The list is sorted, so the naive solution is this: Perform binary search on the prefixes of the set, and when you find an element that starts with the prefix, traverse up linearly until you hit the top of the subset. This runs in linear time, however, and I was wondering if anyone can suggest a more efficient way to do it.

• Need to write a daemon in linux, not sure what to use C++ or C

  In a .cpp file, if I decare a constant as follows: namespace { const int UDP_PORT_MIN = 1024; const int UDP_PORT_MAX = 65535; } vs. just: const int UDP_PORT_MIN = 1024; const int UDP_PORT_MAX = 65535; What's the difference between these two? I often see constant definitions declared in an unnamed namespace, so I was wondering what's the purpose of the unnamed namespace in this context?

• Apache + mod_wsgi + django - large uploads timeout on IE but not on FF

  I'm running Apache, mod_wsgi and Django. Uploading a file over 100mb causes a timeout on IE 7 and 8, but successfully uploaded on Firefox 3.5. Specifically the error is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". The timeout is not immediate, it runs for quite some time before it fails. Any suggestions? UPDATE: I set TimeOut to 1200 and it made no difference

  I have three date ranges in mysql table as follow from 2013-09-29 to 2013-10-02 from 2013-10-14 to 2013-10-16 from 2013-10-28 to 2013-11-05 I want to count only days that occur in Month of October, for example from first range (2013-09-29 to 2013-10-02) I should get difference of two days (1st and 2nd October) , and it should ignore days from September month, Finally i want to count total days in a given month from above date ranges. However, I can't get this to work for me. The only difference I can think of is that my URL is a text file (http://mycrossdomain.com/sometext.txt) and not HTML.I think the YQL query needs to be adjusted accordingly. Any help is appreciated.

  I have searched through the google and also joomla forums but didn't got what exactly I was looking for. My main purpose is to set the joomla session live for ever. Many forums says its not good to keep a higher value (security issues) but I don't want to consider that right now.
