• How to stop C++ console application from exiting immediately?

  Hello everybody. Lately, I've been trying to learn C++ from this website. Unfortunately whenever I try to run one of the code samples, I see that program open for about a half second and then immediately close. Is there any way to stop the program from closing immediately so that I can see the fruits of my effort? Thanks in advance.

  How do I kill a process which is running in bash - for example, suppose I open a file: $ gedit file.txt is there any way within the command prompt to close it? This example is fairly trivial, since I could just close the window, but it seems to come up a bit, particularly when I mistype commands. Also is there any way to escape an executable which is running? This probably has the same solution, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks

For example, let's say I open TFS to my clients so they can submit feature requests. As a normal user, you could edit the "User variables" but not the "System variables". In Windows Server 2008 R2, if I try to hit the Advanced System settings option in the System applet, it prompts for the Administrator password.

  I feel like there should be a simple way to do this but I can't figure it out. I have a JFileChooser that allows the user to select directories. I want to show all the files in the directories to give the user some context, but only directories should be accepted as selections (maybe the Open button would be disabled when a file is selected).   I'm working with Maven pom files, and I don't wish to source control iml files. When I open a project, IntelliJ seems to add some of the iml files it creates to the SVN source control. How can I prevent this? I have "*.iml" in an "svn:ignore" property on the repository root, but it doesn't seem to prevent IntelliJ from adding the imls.

• Copy and paste RESULTS of a file search

  In order for me to get the results of a file search in a readable format, I use the following command line in a command prompt: dir *.* /s > myResultList.txt I then open that list in Excel, use fixed width format to get rid of all the stuff I don't want and then I have my list. Seems like a lot to do for something so simple. Does anyone out there have any recommendations for something that would work better than this?
