    I'm trying to make a huge Excel sheet reasonably maintainable, but it's huge in the "hundred-table-db" direction, rather than the "hundred-thousand-row-table" direction.   • What would I use to remove escaped html from large sets of data.

    Our database is filled with articles retrieved from RSS feeds. I was unsure of what data I would be getting, and how much filtering was already setup (WP-O-Matic Wordpress plugin using the SimplePie library). This plugin does some basic encoding before insertion using Wordpress's built in post insert function which also does some filtering. I've figured out most of the filters before insertion, but now I have whacko data that I need to remove. This is an example of whacko data that I have data in one field which the content I want in the front, but this part removed which is at the end: <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:V_sGLiPBpWU" border="0"></img> <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></img> &lt;img src=&quot;http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:D7DqB2pKExk&quot; Notice how some of the images are escape and some aren't. I believe this has to do with the last part being cut off so as to be unrecognizable as an html tag, which then caused it to be html endcoded. Another field has only this which is now filtered before insertion, but I have to get rid of the others: &lt;img src=&quot;http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2183/2289902369_1d95bcdb85.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;post_img&quot; width=&quot;80&quot; (all examples are on one line, but broken up for readability) Question: What is the best way to work with the above escaped html (or portion of an html tag)? I can do it in Perl, PHP, SQL, Ruby, and even Python. I believe Perl to be the best at text parsing, so that's why I used the Perl tag. And PHP times out on large database operations, so that's pretty much out unless I wanted to do batch processing and what not. PS One of the nice things about using Wordpress's insert post function, is that if you use php's strip_tags function to strip out all html, insert post function will insert <p> at the paragraph points. I need 3 actions. 1) When user click in textarea i want display DIV what will contain preview, i want animate opening. 2) When user typing, i want dynamical load parsed by PHP code to DIV. (i'm still thinking what will be best option... refresh every 2 seconds, or maybe we can detect and refresh after 1 second of inactivity [stop typing]) 3) When user click outside textarea i want close preview div with animation. For example the PHP parser will have patch /api/parser.php and variable by POST called $_POST['message']. Any idea my digital friends ?

    A long time ago, I thought I saw a proposal to add an else clause to for or while loops in C or C++... or something like that. I don't remember how it was supposed to work -- did the else clause run if the loop exited normally but not via a break statement? Anyway, this is tough to search for, so I thought maybe I could get some CW answers here for various languages. What languages support adding an else clause to something other than an if statement? What is the meaning of that clause? One language per answer please.

  • How can I write a "user can only access own profile page" type of security check in Play Framework?

    I have a Play framework application that has a model like this: A Company has one and only one User associated with it. I have URLs like http://www.example.com/companies/1234, http://www.example.com/companies/1234/departments, http://www.example.com/companies/1234/departments/employees and so on. The numbers are the company id's, not the user id's. I want that normal users (not admins) should only be able to access their own profile pages, not other people's profile pages. So a user associated with the company with id 1234 should not be able to access the URL http://www.example.com/companies/6789 I tried to accomplish this by overriding Secure.check() and comparing the request parameter "id" to the ID of the company associated with the logged in user. However, this obviously fails if the parameter is called anything else than "id". Does anyone know how this could be accomplished?

All I really want the application to do is when I point my mouse pointer over any text on the screen (in any window), it would identify the text I am pointing at and then display a small form over it, which would the chinese transaction. Is that possible to do? Can WinForms apps interact with windows outside of it's own application?

I want to see the text fields but do not need to publish the results to any other system so if some characters do not get converted perfectly I do not have a problem with that.     Hello, I am trying to replace some text in a string with different text while retaining some of the text and I am having trouble doing it. My code is: StreamReader reader = new StreamReader(fDialog.FileName.ToString()); string content = reader.ReadToEnd(); reader.Close(); /Replace M2 with M3 (this works fine) content = Regex.Replace(content, "M2", "M3"); I want to replace a string that contains this: Z0.1G0H1E1 and turn it into: G54G43Z.1H1M08 (Note the Z value and the H value contain the same numeric value before the text change) The trouble I am having is that when I replace the values, I need to retain the H value and the Z value from the first set of text. For example, Z0.5G0H5E1 I need to add the new text, but also add the H5 and Z0.5 back into the text such as: G54G43Z0.5H5M08 But the Z values and H values will be different every time, so I need to capture those values and reinsert them back into the string when add the new G54G43 values. Can someone please show me how to do this using Regex.Replace? Thanks so much, Shawn

    I have a WCF service that takes a stream: [ServiceContract] public class UploadService : BaseService { [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(BodyStyle=WebMessageBodyStyle.Bare, Method=WebRequestMethods.Http.Post)] public void Upload(Stream data) { // etc. } } This method is to allow my Silverlight application to upload large binary files, the easiest way being to craft the HTTP request by hand from the client. Here is the code in the Silverlight client that does this: const int contentLength = 64 * 1024; // 64 Kb var request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create("http://localhost:8732/UploadService/"); request.AllowWriteStreamBuffering = false; request.Method = WebRequestMethods.Http.Post; request.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"; request.ContentLength = contentLength; using (var outputStream = request.GetRequestStream()) { outputStream.Write(new byte[contentLength], 0, contentLength); outputStream.Flush(); using (var response = request.GetResponse()); } Now, in the case above, where I am streaming 64 kB of data (or less), this works OK and if I set a breakpoint in my WCF method, and I can examine the stream and see 64 kB worth of zeros - yay! The problem arises if I send anything more than 64 kB of data, for instance by changing the first line of my client code to the following: const int contentLength = 64 * 1024 + 1; // 64 kB + 1 B This now throws an exception when I call request.GetResponse(): The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request. In my WCF configuration I have set maxReceivedMessageSize, maxBufferSize and maxBufferPoolSize to 2147483647, but to no avail.     I just hit very strange (to me) behaviour of java. Constructors are private, so they can't be initialized anywhere else. 2) Unit class contains static final references to MKUnit.INSTANCE and MeterUnit.INSTANCE I would expect that: KMUnit class is loaded and instance is created. MeterUnit class is loaded and instance is created. Unit class is loaded and both KM and METERS variable are initialized, they are final so they cant be changed. But when I run my test case in console with maven my result is: T E S T S Running de.audi.echargingstations.tests.TestMetricUnits Unit.METERS: m Unit.KM: null Tests run: 3, Failures: 0, Errors: 1, Skipped: 0, Time elapsed: 0.089 sec <<< FAILURE! - in de.audi.echargingstations.tests.TestMetricUnits testConversion(de.audi.echargingstations.tests.TestMetricUnits) Time elapsed: 0.011 sec <<< ERROR! java.lang.NullPointerException: null at de.audi.echargingstations.tests.TestMetricUnits.testConversion(TestMetricUnits.java:29) Results : Tests in error: TestMetricUnits.testConversion:29 NullPointer And the funny part is that, when I run this test from eclipse via JUnit runner everything is fine, I have no NullPointerException and in console I have: Unit.METERS: m Unit.KM: km So the question is: what can be the reason that KM variable in Unit is null (and in the same time METERS is not null)

What I´m doing wrong? Edit I wasn´t declaring my methods with double colons, it was just for denoting that it was a public method (interface). Updated to full class/methods declarations. Edit 2 I should have said that I´m testing some method implementations in an abstract class (edited the code to reflect this). Since I can not instantiate the class, how can I test this? I´m thinking in creating an SomeClassSimple extending SomeClassAbstract and testing this one instead. Is it the right approach?
