    Trying to validate models with DataAnnotations but DefaulModelBinder overrides my Required property error messages and never uses my error messages for invalid data entry. Always show 'value' is invalid for 'property name'. In another question I saw that MVC 2 uses DefaultModelBinder but I couldn't find any class in MVC 2 binaries. I downloaded the source for MVC futures and changed some source to compile it for .Net 4.0 but although I had success to compile, it has compatability problems and doesn't work as expected. Any help is aprreciated.

  • how to intercept processing when Session.IsNewSession is true

    I have a small 4-page application for my customers to work through. They fill out information. If they let it sit too long, and the Session timeout out, I want to pop up a javascript alert that their session has expired, and that they need to start over. At that point, then redirected to the beginning page of the application. I'm getting some strange behavior. I'm stepping through code, forcing my Sessioni.IsNewSession to be true. At this point, I write out a call to Javascript to a Literal Control placed at the bottom of the . The javascript is called, and the redirection occurs. However, what is happening is.. I am pressing a button which is more or less a "Next Page" button and triggering this code. The next page is being displayed, and then the Alert and redirection occurs. The result I was expecting was to stay on the same page I received the "Timeout", with the alert to pop-up over it, then redirection. I'm checking for Session.IsNewSession in a BaseClass for these pages, overriding the OnInit event. Any ideas why I am getting this behavior? Thanks!

    Hi all, Thru radio button i am selecting the data from gridview. Here all radio buttons are selectable at a time. Actually it should not happen at a time user can select only one button which i could not do. My second problem is when i am selecting particular radiobutton that details should be displayed in text box. I have Itemid, ItemName, Quantity, Rate and Total field in gridview. These values i have inserted thru textbox so i have all the corresponding text box for all. So once i select particular radiobutton those details should be displayed in corresponding textbox. I have done the insertion coding for this but couldn't do selecting thru radiobutton and dispalying in textbox. Pls somebody help me in coding for this problem. Thanks, sumit

    I'm looking for a way to export a Word document as a PDF. I would like to do this without the use of a "software printer" (such as CutePDF, etc.) and stick to reference assemblies if at all possible. I'm using Microsoft Office Interop Assemblies to generate a Word Document which I save to a temporary directory. So its not necessary for this solution to interact directly with Microsoft Office, unless it needs to. Any help or feedback you might have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Hello guys, I'm having a problem with the Create method of the NerdDinner tutorial, which is very good BTW. As you can see here http://nerddinnerbook.s3.amazonaws.com/Part5.htm in the Create method, he removed the ID field of the aspx page. I did that too, but I cannot add any dinners because I get a primary key violation. How is NerdDinner controlling the ids of each dinner? I revised the tutorial and could not see any references to identity fields on SQL database. I even created a method to get me the highest id in the table: public int GetHighestDinnerId() { int resultado = (from dinner in dataContext.Dinners select dinner.DinnerId).Max(); return resultado; } which does not work either.     Hi, I have a user control which encapsulates a NumericUpDownExtender. This UserControl implements the interface ICallbackEventHandler, because I want that when a user changes the value of the textbox associated a custom event to be raised in the server. By the other hand each time an async postback is done I shoe a message of loading and disable the whole screen. This works perfect when something is changed in for example an UpdatePanel through this lines of code: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().add_beginRequest( function (sender, args) { var modalPopupBehavior = $find('programmaticSavingLoadingModalPopupBehavior'); modalPopupBehavior.show(); } ); The UserControl is placed inside a detailsview which is inside an UpdatePanel in an aspx. When the custom event is raised I want another textbox in the aspx to change its value. So far, When I click on the UpDownExtender, it goes correctly to the server and raises the custom event, and the new value of the textbox is assigned in the server. but it is not changed in the browser. I suspect that the problem is the callback, since I have the same architecture for a UserControl with an AutoCompleteExtender which implement IPostbackEventHandler and it works. Any clues how can I solve this here to make the UpDownNumericExtender user control to work like the AutComplete one? Great. But while doing some research for speeding up my database access, I ran into this blog post... Improving Entity Framework Performance The post argues that EFs poor performance compared to other frameworks is often due to the EntityConnection object being created each time a new EntityContext object is needed. To test this I manually created a static EntityConnection in Global.asax.cs Application_Start(). I then converted all my context using statements to using( MyObjContext currContext = new MyObjeContext(globalStaticEFConnection) { .... } This seems to have sped things up a bit without any errors so far as far as I can tell. But is this safe? Does using a applicationwide static EntityConnection introduce race conditions? Best regards, Kervin

BTW, this is for a scenario where a person will drag an item from a panel into a shopping cart and I need to capture the Id of the dropped item and trigger a postback after the drop to update the quantity of that item in the cart.

    Hi My jQuery code hides a ddl under certain circumstances. When this is the case, after submitting the form, using the UpdateModel doesn't seem to work consistently. Debugging seems to reveal that the correct value is passed in to the action method: public ActionResult Edit(IllnessDetail ill) And the correct value is put into sick in the following line: IllnessDetailFormViewModel mfv = new IllnessDetailFormViewModel(ill); However, when all is said, done and returned to the client, what displays is the value of: sick.IdInfectiousAgent instead of the value of: ill.IdInfectiousAgent The only reason I can think of is that the ddlInfectiousAgent has been hidden by jQuery. Or am I barking up the wrong lamp post? Andrew

  • Yahoo Web Scrapes: What are the limits?

    We are using a web scraper and have it set up to have a sleep function which has a random function set up (so that it isn't the same time between each scrape) but we are still getting blocked from Yahoo after 20-30 requests. Does any one know if there is a limit (i.e: 20 requests per minutes, 200 an hour) Right now our average between each request is around 3-6 seconds. Thanks for any help

  • Pass MSBuild condition to library project

    I have tried several solutions for this problem. Enough to know I do not know enough about MSBuild to do this elegantly but I feel like there should be a method. I have a set of libraries for working with .net projects. A few of the projects utilize System.Web.Mvc - which recently released Version 2 - and we are looking forward to the upgrade. Currently sites which reference this library reference it directly by the project(csproj) on the developer's computer - not a built version of the library so that changes and source code case easily be viewed when dealing code from this library. This works quite well and would prefer to not have to switch to binary references (but will if this is the only solution). The problem I have is that because of some of the functionality that was added onto the MVC1 based library (view engines, model binders etc) several of the sites reliant on these libraries need to stay on MVC1 until we have full evaluated and tested them on MVC2. I would prefer to not have to fork or have two copies on each dev machine.     Does anyone know if there is a way to "transform" specific sections of values instead of replacing the whole value or an attribute? For example, I've got several appSettings entries that specify the Urls for different webservices. These entries are slightly different in the dev environment than the production environment. I know I could also split that URL into different sections and update them independently, but I rather have it all in one key. I've looked through the available web.config Transforms but nothings seems to be geared towars what I am trying to accomplish.
