  Anyone had success installing and using PySide on OSX? I am following the install instructions on the PySide site, though I'm running into issues building the API Extractor. I run cmake on the CMakeLists.txt file inside the api extractor dir and: This error is thrown- CMake Error at /Applications/CMake 2.8-0.app/Contents/share/cmake-2.8/Modules/FindBoost.cmake:894 (message): Unable to find the requested Boost libraries. Unable to find the Boost header files. Please set BOOST_ROOT to the root directory containing Boost or BOOST_INCLUDEDIR to the directory containing Boost's headers. Call Stack (most recent call first): CMakeLists.txt:5 (find_package) I am new to building source w/ cmake and I'm not event really sure what Boost is.   I want to change the cursor to an hourglass in my asp.net application to let my users know that the process is running. I searched for an answer and was advised to use javascript as follows. 1) Add this javascript function hourglass() { document.body.style.cursor = "wait"; } 2) then in my code in the page load event: btnImport.Attributes.Add("onclick", "javascript: hourglass();"); When btnImport is the button they click on However this does not work.   Hi I'm developing an Eclipse product. In my plugin i have added an executable file (.exe) which i need to execute. When i launch the product from the eclipse, the file is referenced using the path of the executable on my file system and all went ok. When i export the product the plugin is packaged in a jar file which contains the executable file too. When it references the file the path is something like : $path_to_the_plugin_jar!/$path_to_exe_file_inside_the_jar Using this path to launch a new Process Thrown an exception. How can i refer to a file inside a jar?How could i execute the file? Can i extract the file when i export the product with eclipse? thanks

If my application "phones home" to provide the unique device ID on which it runs, what other information would I need to collect (e.g., the Apple ID used to purchase the application) to create a valid registration token that authorizes use of the application? Likewise, what code would I use to access that extra data? What seem to be the best available technical approaches to this problem, at the present time?   i will be analysing vast amount of network traffic related data shortly. i will pre-process the data in order to analyse it. i have found that R and SPSS are among the most popular tools for statistical analysis. i will also be generating quite a lot of graphs and charts. so i was wondering what is the basic difference between these two softwares. i am not asking which one is better. i just wanted to know what are the difference in terms of workflow between the two besides the fact that SPSS has a GUI. I will be mostly working with scripts in either case anyway so i wanted to know about the other differences.

• Visual studio asp.net code behind file not showing errors

  Hi, I am developing a web application in which I am suddenly facing an issue. I have a webpage which contains many controls, one of the control is JQuery color picker. Now, I am upgrading my system with telerik controls. As part of this process, I replaced textbox(txtcolor) with radcolorpicker with a different id(colorPicker). Suddenly, my code behind file is not throwing any errors like 'unable to find txtColor'. It is running successfully without build errors. But, when I open the page, system is throwing runtime exception(txtColor not found) which is correct. I tried to change other controls with asp.net controls, still the problem persists. So, I dont think it is anything to do with telerik. Could you please let me know how can fix this issue?? Thanks, Mahesh

• How to handle a C# console application terminating?

  If I have a console application, is there any way I can handle the following: Ctrl-C (I know the answer to this. Using Console.TreatControlCAsInput and Console.CancelKeyPress) Session termination, such as when someone logs off Process exit, such as when someone uses the task manager to close the application. I know that if I was writing a unix application, I would handle various signals to catch the request to close (SIGTERM from memory), but I also know I need to handle these messages pretty quickly and exit before the system does a kill -9 (SIGKILL). But for a C# console application, I'm not sure how to do this.

• RabbitMQ serializing messages from queue with multiple consumers

  Hi there, I'm having a problem where I have a queue set up in shared mode and multiple consumers bound to it. The issue is that it appears that rabbitmq is serializing the messages, that is, only one consumer at a time is able to run. I need this to be parallel, however, I can't seem to figure out how. Each consumer is running in its own process. There are plenty of messages in the queue. I'm using py-amqplib to interface with RabbitMQ. Any thoughts?

  I came across this RDMS via the advert on stackoverflow. Seems to be in the vein of MS Access / Filemaker / Apex database development tools but focused on web based applications. It quotes rave reviews from EWeek and a favourable mention from Dr Dobbs regarding its ability to create AJAX web applications without coding. The Eweek review, apparently written by an ASP.NET programmer, goes on to proclaim the ease at which apps can be extended using the inbuilt XBasic language and how custom javascript can easily be added without wading through code. Has anyone here built a web app with Alpha 5? Does anyone have comments on the development process, the speed of it or limitations they encountered along the way? To me it seems Oracle APEX comes closest to the feature set, has anyone programmed in both and have any comments?

  Hi StackOverflow, I have a Java application that makes heavy use of a large file, to read, process and give through to SolrEmbeddedServer (http://lucene.apache.org/solr/). One of the functions does basic HTML escaping: private String htmlEscape(String input) { return input.replace("&", "&amp;").replace(">", "&gt;").replace("<", "&lt;") .replace("'", "&apos;").replaceAll("\"", "&quot;"); } While profiling the application, the program spends roughly 58% of the time in this function, a total of 47% in replace, and 11% in replaceAll. Now, is the Java replace that slow, or am I on the right path and should I consider the program efficient enough to have its bottleneck in Java and not in my code? (Or am I replacing wrong?)   Any advice on the best way to strike a balance between the work methods of an offshore supplier and the work methods of a new onshore team? We have an offshore supplier with about 2 years who have their own working practices and methods. I was bought in as the first onshore developer for my company with the view to vetting the code that comes in and putting together some best practices. Now from what I've seen there are lots of holes in their process (e.g. estimation, planning, code reviews, coding standards from about 10 years ago, no concept of mocking, refactoring etc). I need to be seen as a problem solver and not a problem creator but also I need to try and be somewhat forceful of what they are doing needs improving and at the end of the day they are a supplier.   Hello all . here is a code that i got over the net ,and it is supposed to embed a watermark of size(50*20) called _copyright.bmp in the Code below . the size of the cover object is (512*512), it is called _lena_std_bw.bmp.What we did here is we did DWT2 2 times for the image , when we reached our second dwt2 cA2 size is 128*128. You should notice that the blocksize and it equals 4, it is used to determine the max msg size based on cA2 according to the following code:max_message=RcA2*CcA2/(blocksize^2). in our current case max_message would equal 128*128/(4^2)=1024. i want to embed a bigger watermark in the 2nd dwt2 and lets say the size of that watermark is 400*10(i can change the dimension using MS PAINT), what i have to do is change the size of the blocksize to 2. so max_message=4096.Matlab gives me 3 errors and they are : ???   I have an assembly that when accessed spins up a single thread to process items placed on a queue. In that assembly I attach a handler to the DomainUnload event: AppDomain.CurrentDomain.DomainUnload += new EventHandler(CurrentDomain_DomainUnload); That handler joins the thread to the main thread so that all items on the queue can complete processing before the application terminates. The problem that I am experiencing is that the DomainUnload event is not getting fired when the console application terminates. Any ideas why this would be? Using .NET 3.5 and C#

• How to debug unreleased COM references from managed code?

  I have been searching for a tool to debug unreleased COM references, that usually cause e.g. Word/Outlook processes to hang in memory in case the code does not call Marshal.ReleaseCOMObject on all COM instances correctly. (Outlook 2007 partially fixes this for outlook addins, but this is a generic question). Is there a tool that would display at least a list of COM references (by type) held by managed code? Ideally, it would also display memory profiler-style object trees helping to debug where the reference increment occured. Debugging at runtime is not that important as being able to attach to a hung process - because the problem typically occurs when the code is done with the COM interface and someone forgot to release something - the application (e.g. winword) hangs in memory even after the calling managed application quits. If such tool does not exist, what is the (technical?) reason? It would be very useful for debugging a lot of otherwise very hard to find problems when working with COM interop.

  Hello all, After a button is clicked to start a process on my web app, I show a small loading gif (animated) that rotates to indicate to the user something is happening. I put the gif img in place of the button like this using JQuery: $('#btn_holder').html('<img src="images/loading2.gif" style="margin-left:40px; margin-top:7px;" />'); This works great in all browsers (Firefox, IE8, Chrome) except IE7 on a windows server 2003. In IE, the gif appears but it is not animated. What's going on with IE7? How can I test what the problem is? Thanks all

  I am trying to build a standalone qt application (built on ubuntu and deployed on Red Hat 5.3, both 64 bits) after building a qt application that is statically linked to the qt library I tried to run the program on red hat and got an error saying libc.so.6 was not found and that GLIBC_2.9 or GLIBC_2.10 is not installed and needed. I tried doing a yum install glibc but then I get a message saying that glibc is up to date (its version is 2.0) I guees I am going to restart the build process but this time from a red hat installation. What do you sugges I should do in this case. My goal is to build a standalone qt application that only needs to run on red hat 5 (im pretty sure there is also going to be an issue with fontconfig.so but I can simply provide this library directly in the same directory as the app)

  I have just started to develop for the iPhone and am in the process of learning Objective-C. I have seen some code that implements a method in the @implementation side of a class like this: -(void)myMethod; { // method body } What makes this interesting is that there is no mention of myMethod in the @interface for the class. I tried a sample project with this and when I compile I get a warning from XCode that myMethod may not be seen by the calling code. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Thanks!

  A there any g++ options which can detect improper initialization of std::string with NULL const char*? I was in the process of turning some int fields into std::string ones, i.e: struct Foo { int id; Foo() : id(0) {} }; ...turned into: struct Foo { std::string id; Foo() : id(0) {} //oooops! }; I completely overlooked bad 'id' initialization with 0 and g++ gave me no warnings at all. This error was detected in the run time(std::string constructor threw an exception) but I'd really like to detect such stuff in the compile time. Is there any way?
