  • style a navigation link when a particular div is shown

    - by Matt Meadows
    I have JQuery working to show a particular div when a certain link is clicked. I have managed to apply the effect I'm after with the main navigation bar through id'ing the body tag and using css to style when the id is found. However, i'd like to apply the same effect to the sub navigation when a certain div is present. How the main navigation is styled: HTML: <nav> <ul> <li id="nav-home"><a href="index.html">Home</a></li> <li id="nav-showreel"><a href="showreel.html">Showreel</a></li> <li id="nav-portfolio"><a href="portfolio.html">Portfolio</a></li> <li>Contact</li> </ul> </nav> CSS: body#home li#nav-home, body#portfolio li#nav-portfolio { background: url("Images/Nav_Underline.png") no-repeat; background-position: center bottom; color: white; } (Other links havent been added to styling as those pages are still in development) How the sub navigation is structured: <nav id="portfolioNav"> <ul> <li id="portfolio-compositing"><a id="compositingWork" href="#">Compositing</a></li> <li id="portfolio-animation"><a id="animationWork" href="#">Animation</a></li> <li id="portfolio-motionGfx"><a id="GFXWork" href="#">Motion Graphics</a></li> <li id="portfolio-3D"><a id="3DWork" href="#">3D</a></li> </ul> </nav> As you can see, its similar format to the main navigation, however i've tried the same approach and it doesn't work :( The Javascript that switches the divs on the navigation click: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#3DWork').click(function(){ $('#portfolioWork').load('portfolioContent.html #Portfolio3D'); }); $('#GFXWork').click(function(){ $('#portfolioWork').load('portfolioContent.html #motionGraphics'); }); $('#compositingWork').click(function(){ $('#portfolioWork').load('portfolioContent.html #PortfolioCompositing'); }); $('#animationWork').click(function(){ $('#portfolioWork').load('portfolioContent.html #PortfolioAnimation'); }); }); </script> JSFiddle for full HTML & CSS : JSFiddle File The effect I'm After:

  • Block an Order Button

    - by Frank G.
    I am looking for a script that will block or remove an order button to prevent customers from double or triple ordering but clicking the button more then once. I don't know what something like this would be called. But the site was developed in Classic .asp. However I'm going to guess and say this would be javascript or jquery on an image button? Any suggestion or points for this would be a big help!!!! Thanks,

  • html/javascript automaticly getting link from submit button (maybe automating with python?)

    - by user317955
    I have a website where I have to click a submit button on a form. This gives me a link. I know the link is made up with the paramter that is passed through a hidden value. I was wondering if I could make a python script or something else that would go to the website and click some buttons returning the link that the submit button generates, if so how could I pass the extra parameter that influences the creation of the link? thanks in advance.

  • cycle through list, change style every x seconds

    - by kjarsenal
    I have a simple slideshow (jQuery Cycle) that displays an image every ten seconds (7 total images). In an adjacent div, I have a list with 7 bullet points. What's the easiest way to script a method in which the css/style of the appropriate bullet point changes as its accompanying image. The idea is to have all list items displayed, but 1 highlighted every 10 seconds?

  • Ajax posting to PHP

    - by JQonfused
    Hi guys, I'm testing a jQuery ajax post method on a local Apache 2.2 server with PHP 5.3 (totally new at this). Here are the files, all in the same folder. html body (jQuery library included in head): <form id="postForm" method="post"> <label for="name">Input Name</label> <input type="text" name="name" id="name" /><br /> <label for="age">Input Age</label> <input type="text" name="age" id="age" /><br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" id="submitBtn" /> </form> <div id="resultDisplay"></div> <script src="queryRequest.js"></script> queryRequest.js $(document).ready(function(){ $('#s').focus(); $('#postForm').submit(function(){ var name = $('#name').val(); var age = $('#age').val(); var URL = "post.php"; $.ajax({ type:'POST', url: URL, datatype:'json', data:{'name': name ,'age': age}, success: function(data){ $('#resultDisplay').append("Value returned.<br />name: "+data.name+" age: "+data.age); }, error: function() { $('resultDisplay').append("ERROR!") } }); }); }); post.php <?php $name = $_POST['name']; $age = $_POST['age']; $return = array('name' => $name, 'age' => $age); echo json_encode($return); ?> After inputting the two fields and pressing 'Submit', the success method is called, text appended, but the values returned from ajax post are undefined. And then after less than a second, the text fields are emptied, and the text appended to the div is gone. Doesn't seem like it's a page refresh, though, since there's no empty page flash. What's going on here? I'm sure it's a silly mistake but Firebug isn't telling me anything.

  • Javascript .removeChild() only deletes even nodes?

    - by user1476297
    first posting. I am trying dynamically add children DIV under a DIV with ID="prnt". Addition of nodes work fine no problem. However strange enough when it comes to deleted nodes its only deleting the even numbered nodes including 0. Why is this, I could be something stupid but it seem more like a bug. I could be very wrong. Please help Thank you in advance. <script type="text/javascript"> function displayNodes() { var prnt = document.getElementById("prnt"); var chlds = prnt.childNodes; var cont = document.getElementById("content"); for(i = 0; i < chlds.length; i++) { if(chlds[i].nodeType == 1) { cont.innerHTML +="<br />"; cont.innerHTML +="Node # " + (i+1); cont.innerHTML +="<br />"; cont.innerHTML +=chlds[i].nodeName; cont.innerHTML +="<br />"; } } } function deleteENodes() { var prnt = document.getElementById("prnt"); var chlds = prnt.childNodes; for(i = 0; i < chlds.length; i++) { if(!(chlds[i].nodeType == 3)) { prnt.removeChild(chlds[i]); } } } function AddENodes() { var prnt = document.getElementById("prnt"); //Only even nodes are deletable PROBLEM for(i = 0; i < 10; i++) { var newDIV = document.createElement('div'); newDIV.setAttribute("id", "c"+(i)); var text = document.createTextNode("New Inserted Child "+(i)); newDIV.appendChild(text); prnt.appendChild(newDIV); } } </script> <title>Checking Div Nodes</title> </head> <body> <div id="prnt"> Parent 1 </div> <br /> <br /> <br /> <button type="button" onclick="displayNodes()">Show Node Info</button> <button type="button" onclick="deleteENodes()">Remove All Element Nodes Under Parent 1</button> <button type="button" onclick="AddENodes()">Add 5 New DIV Nodes</button> <div id="content"> </div> </body>
