  • Can a native-looking GUI be made with Python

    - by Matt
I haven't gotten far enough into Python to make GUIs yet, so I thought I'd ask here. Can a python app be made with the windows default style GUI, or will it have its own style? The only screenshots I've seen of a python app running with a GUI had this ugly win95 look to it.

  • Doing will_paginate pages calculation around a record

    - by Anderson De Andrade
I'm displaying a list of events. I wanted displayed the page with the events for today by default. That was easy accomplished by: page = number_of_records_before_RECORD / number_of_pages + 1 Now I want to display the first item of today's events as the first item in that page. Maybe there is a way to generate page numbers around a record with negative values to get back.

  • Django Commenting framework and voting

    - by Hellnar
Hello, I want to implement a commenting system for some pages by using the build-in commenting framework of Django. The only addition to the default commenting framework is that other registered users can up/down vote comments (one time allowed indeed), just like Digg or Reddit style. I have found RedditStyleVoting however it seems out of date and not really covering what I am looking for.

  • How to configure Beyond Compare 3 for Eclipse conflict resolution?

    - by Peter Boughton
What is the correct parameters to get Beyond Compare 3 working with Eclipse/Subclipse conflict resolution? In Preferences > Team > SVN > Diff/Merge there's the option to specify an external program to resolve conflicts. The default parameters are: "${yours}" "${theirs}" "${base}" "${merged}" And it suggests TortoiseMerge settings of this: /theirs:"${theirs}" /base:"${base}" /mine:"${yours}" /merged:"${merged}" But what is the appropriate config for Beyond Compare?

  • rails declarative authorization, permit all actions for controller?

    - by SooDesuNe
using the delcarative_authorization gem for rails, is there a shortcut to allow a role access to all controller actions? privileges do # default privilege hierarchies to facilitate RESTful Rails apps privilege :manage, :includes => [:create, :read, :update, :delete] end isn't sufficient, because I have more controlling methods than just CRUD in my controllers. Something like: role :foo do has_permission_on :bar, :to =>[:all] end would be perfect, but I'm not finding it in the docs.

  • ASP.NET GridView Sort?

    - by Curtis White
I'm performing a query with a sort in the Selecting event of the LinqDataSource. I'm then casting my query to a list and assigning it to the result. I'm using this data source in an ASP.NET gridview. I can see the list is sorted but when the ASP.NET gridview does not seem to be respecting the sort order. How can I get the gridview to respect my default sort order?

    - by leduchuy89vn
Normally, a Java p'rogram starts from an object, then that object will create some GUI objects (window) and call the "Show" method So, is there any way to do the same thing in Android, since, by default in Android, a program runs from an object created by a class which extended from Activity class?

  • Image Resize Aliasing in WPF v4 but not under v3.5

    - by McKAMEY
I am using WPF for an image resizing pipeline which has been working beautifully under .NET v3.5. I just upgraded the project to target v4.0 and now all of my resized images are heavily aliased. None of the image pipeline code has changed. Has a default setting changed between v3.5 and v4.0? How do I control the dithering of my resized bitmap images in WPF?

  • What should a Django user know when moving from MySQL to PostgreSQL?

    - by tmitchell
Most of my experience with Django thus far has been with MySQL and mysqldb. For a new app I'm writing, I'm dipping my toe in the PostgreSQL water, now that I have seen the light. While writing a data import script, I stumbled upon an issue with the default autocommit behavior. I would guess there are other "gotchas" that might crop up. What else should I be on the lookout for?

  • Classloading order in JBoss

    - by Spiderman
I'd like to know if the default behavior of JBoss server (4.2.3.GA in my case) is loading the classes in parent-first or parent-last mode. And in case it work as I suspect in parent-last mode (i.e. first trying to load classes from the application's WEB-INF/lib and only if they are not found go to server\lib), how can I configure it to work in the opposite- first trying to load classes from outside and only looking inside the application afterwards.

  • How do I search for a phrase using search logic?

    - by fivetwentysix
Imagine case scenario, you have a list of recipes that have ingredients as a text. You want to see how many recipes contain "sesame oil". The problem with default searchlogic searching using Recipe.ingredients_like("sesame oil") is that any recipe with sesame OR oil would come up, when I'm searching for sesame+oil.

  • How do I enable spell checking within an NSTextField on Mac OS X?

    - by Luke
I have an NSTextField that I would like to enable "as-you-type" spell checking. When I load my application I can do this from the Menu Bar Edit Spelling and Grammar Check Spelling While Typing. I would like this option to be enabled by default. Within IB I can enable this for a NSTextView but I would like to use NSTextField for this part of the UI. Thank you.

  • Backbone.js Adding Model to Collection Issue

    - by jtmgdevelopment
I am building a test application in Backbone.js (my first app using Backbone). The app goes like this: Load Data from server "Plans" Build list of plans and show to screen There is a button to add a new plan Once new plan is added, add to collection ( do not save to server as of now ) redirect to index page and show the new collection ( includes the plan you just added) My issue is with item 5. When I save a plan, I add the model to the collection then redirect to the initial view. At this point, I fetch data from the server. When I fetch data from the server, this overwrites my collection and my added model is gone. How can I prevent this from happening? I have found a way to do this but it is definitely not the correct way at all. Below you will find my code examples for this. Thanks for the help. PlansListView View: var PlansListView = Backbone.View.extend({ tagName : 'ul', initialize : function() { _.bindAll( this, 'render', 'close' ); //reset the view if the collection is reset this.collection.bind( 'reset', this.render , this ); }, render : function() { _.each( this.collection.models, function( plan ){ $( this.el ).append( new PlansListItemView({ model: plan }).render().el ); }, this ); return this; }, close : function() { $( this.el ).unbind(); $( this.el ).remove(); } });//end NewPlanView Save Method var NewPlanView = Backbone.View.extend({ tagName : 'section', template : _.template( $( '#plan-form-template' ).html() ), events : { 'click button.save' : 'savePlan', 'click button.cancel' : 'cancel' }, intialize: function() { _.bindAll( this, 'render', 'save', 'cancel' ); }, render : function() { $( '#container' ).append( $( this.el ).html(this.template( this.model.toJSON() )) ); return this; }, savePlan : function( event ) { this.model.set({ name : 'bad plan', date : 'friday', desc : 'blah', id : Math.floor(Math.random()*11), total_stops : '2' }); this.collection.add( this.model ); app.navigate('', true ); event.preventDefault(); }, cancel : function(){} }); Router (default method): index : function() { this.container.empty(); var self = this; //This is a hack to get this to work //on default page load fetch all plans from the server //if the page has loaded ( this.plans is defined) set the updated plans collection to the view //There has to be a better way!!
