  What PHP libraries would you recommend to implement the following: Three dependent drop-down lists Three XML data sources AJAX-based Essentially, I'd like to create an XML database and wire up a form that allows the user to select three different dependent parameters: User clicks Region User clicks District (filtered by Region) User clicks Station (filtered by District) Even though I would like to use PHP and XML, the general problem is: One XHTML form Three dependent, cascading drop-down lists Three flat files (no relational database) for the list data The solution must be efficient, simple, reliable, and cross-browser. • How can I enable Pascal casing by default when using Jackson JSON in Spring MVC?

  I have a project that uses Spring MVC to create and handle multiple REST endpoints. I'm currently working on using Jackson to automatically handle the seralization/deserialization of JSON using the @RequestBody and @ResponseBody annotations. I have gotten Jackson working, so I've got a starting point. My problem is that our old serialization was done manually and used Pascal casing instead of Camel casing ("MyVariable" instead of "myVariable"), and Jackson does Camel casing by default. I know that I can manually change the name for a variable using @JsonProperty. That being said, I do not consider adding "@JsonProperty" to all of my variables to be a viable long-term solution. Is there a way to make Jackson use Pascal casing when serializing and deserializing other than using the @JsonProperty annotation?

  I am starting getting used to Eclipse, but I have much more experience with Visual Studio. In Visual Studio it is possible to run auto commands after the build has finished. Now I am creating a GWT project and several other projects at once in one solution (or workspace) in Eclipse. Some files which are compiled with the GWT project needs to be copied to another location when they have been compiled. I am currently doing this manually and would like to do it automatically. I am not doing it often, since the project works fine in debug mode (...?gwt.codesvr=localhost:9997). But where is the location for executing a post build command for a GWT project in eclipse? Is it possible?

• mysql utf8 turkish characters not correct recognized

  Hello, In mysql utf8 coded turkish data i can't search "I" and "i". when i search its giving result contains "Y" or "y". Because in latin1 "I" displaying as "Ý" and "i" as "ý". in latin1 data i was used latin1_general_ci for correct result. but there is not alternative collation for utf8. its already utf8_general_ci. is there any other people have some problems or do you have a solution. thanks. i have tried stackoverflow search engine to for this problem. if its have mysql and utf8 then my work true. try search "alI" and "ali". both search give another result. but both same in turkish. the "I" is capital i and capital "I" is "i" in turkish.

• Why is ContextConfiguration location different in idea and eclipse

  Hello experts. In my team we work both in Eclipse and Idea. That works pretty good, except for one minor issue that I can't figure out how to solve. When setting the ContextConfiguration location in our tests and running them inside Eclipse everything works like a charm: @Test(groups = { "database" }) @ContextConfiguration(locations = {" file:src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml" }) But in my Idea env I get "could not find applicationContext" error. I need to set the location like this(project name is services): @Test(groups = { "database" }) @ContextConfiguration(locations = {" file:services/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml" }) The project structure is like this: parent.pom with two child poms: services.pom and other.pom. When running the test in the terminal from the service project like this: mvn -Dtest=com.mytest.service.somepackage.TheTest test there are no issues. I guess that since my project structure is parent-with-two-children the need of /service is necessary(The project is created by pointing out the parent pom). Is there a way to fix this? Could you please help me with a solution. thx

• High density Silverlight charting control

  I've been looking into Silverlight charting controls to display a large number of samples, (~10,000 data points in five separate series - ~50k points all up). I have found the existing options produced by Dundas, Visifire, Microsoft etc to be extremely poor performers when displaying more than a few hundred data points. I believe the performance issues with existing chart controls is caused by the heavy use of vector graphics. Ergo one solution would be a client-side chart control that uses the WritableBitmap class to generate a raster chart. Before I fall too far down the wheel re-invention rabbit hole - has anyone found a third party or OSS control that will manage large numbers of data points on a sparkline?

  HI, I have created a asp.net solution with two applications. They bothe use the same database which is setup with .net membership and roles. Application 1 uses the membership for sauthentication to an administration area - this works fine. Application 2 - has a different applicationID to App1. I want to be able to use the existing user account to manage App2's authentication needs. How is this best achieved? Do I just match App2 appliactionID to App1's or is there another way?   Hi, I have a module which uses Hibernate as an ORM solution with EHCache as second level cache. I have another seperate module which inserts and updates the database. What I need is to have the ability to trigger an event when a row is inserted or updated. Let's say I have a Customers table and it is mapped to a Customer entity. I want some procedure to notify me that a new Customer has been added. Regarding the second seperate module it uses Hibernate also but at least for the time being they are not connected (I'm pointing this out as if someone thinks that I must share the Hibernate session (or something of the sort) between them then this is something I will consider). Please note that I have limited experience with Hibernate. Thanks in advance

The decimal number given, and the new base, will both be integer values, separated by a space. The base to convert to will always be smaller than or equal to 30. Please create a program that will convert a decimal number to any base in this instance. • Visual Studio 2008 freezing when editing aspx/master pages

  Visual Studio freezes up continually when I'm editing master pages or aspx files. Here's what I've tried that have not helped: restarting VS only working with few files open at a time Disabled all addins (resharper etc.) deleted .suo and .user files changed default editor from Web Form Editor and Master Page Editor to HTML Editor installed SP1 I don't have tons of files - 3 Master pages and maybe 30 aspx files. It is a asp.net mvc project. All I have to do to get VS to freeze is type a little text or even just paste. The freezing lasts a good 5-10 seconds. My machine has 4GB of RAM and fast disks. Could it have anything to do with asp.net mvc? Would the amount and size of other projects in the solution affect the editor?

• Strategy Design Pattern -- *dynamic* !!!

  My application will have different strategies for my objects. What's the best way of implementing that? I would really love the case when we can make strategy classes implementation dynamically loaded from, say, some relational database. Not sure how do that better, though. What's the best approach? Idea is that say we want to apply to object MyObj strategy Strategy123 then we just load from database by ID 123 the object, deserialize it, get the Strategy class, and use it with MyObj. The maintenance while sounds easier from the first look can be a pain in the long run if Strategy interfaces changes, etc. What can I do also? I want to find solution when I should be keeping Strategy classes in codebase -- just for the sake that I don't need code change and re-deployment of the application if my Strategy changes, or I add new strategy. Please advise!

The situation is that the Plone instance is already in a "production" state because there are outside users that can access it any moment. I believe setting up a LDAP and binding both, the Plone and subversion instance, to it for authentication is the best solution. I've created a different project for both the apps I have, and I'm wondering the best way to share classes between them. There are several classes I've made that would be useful to both. This far I've been copying them around, but I feel like this isn't the best solution. How do I share classes effectively? Should I redo it as 1 project and just have two build targets? I'm currently using passenger with ree 1.8.7 in production for a rails 2.3.5 project using postgresql as a database. ab -n 10000 -c 100: 285.69 [#/sec] (mean) I read jruby should be the fastest solution, so I installed jruby-1.5.0.rc2 together with jdbc postgres adapter and glassfish. As the performance is really poor, I also started running my application using "jruby --server -J-Druby.jit.threshold=0 script/server -e production". Anyway, I only get ab -n 10000 -c 100: 43.88 [#/sec] (mean) Thread_safe! is activated in my rails config. Java seems to use all cores, cpu usage is around 350% (top). ruby -v: jruby 1.5.0.RC2 (ruby 1.8.7 patchlevel 249) (2010-04-28 7c245f3) (Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 1.6.0_16) [amd64-java] I wonder what I'm doing wrong and how to get better performancre with jruby than with ree?   Lets say I've implemented in openGL a crude model viewer with shading which renders a series of blocks, such that I have something that looks like this. http://i.imgur.com/TsF7K.jpg Whenever I rotate my model to the side, it causes an unwanted jagged effect along any surface with a steep viewing angle. http://i.imgur.com/Bgl9o.jpg I'm pretty sure this is due to the polygon offset I used to prevent z-fighting between the model and the wireframe, however I'm not able to find the factor/unit parameters in openGL which prevent this unwanted effect. what are the best values of factor and unit for glPolygonOffset to prevent this? would implementing anti-aliasing alleviate the problem? is the trade off in performance trivial/significant? is this perhaps a shading issue? should i try a solution along this line of thought?

  I'm using the following code to get an array with all sub directories from a given path. String[] subDirs = path.split(File.separator); I need the array to check if certain folders are at the right place in this path. This looked like a good solution until findBugs complains that File.separator is used as a regular expression. It seems that passing the windows file separator to a function that is building a regex from it is a bad idea because the backslash being an escape character. How can I split the path in a cross platform way without using File.separator? Or is code like this okay? String[] subDirs = path.split("/");

  I'm adding a user defined function to Excel with varargs-based signature in C++: XLFUNCTIONIMP(MyFunction)(...); When Excel calls MyFunction, it passes it 30 arguments regardless of how many the user entered in the sheet. The extraneous ones are blank strings. MyFunction, however, is designed to accept empty string arguments. As a result, I cannot tell valid empty strings apart from the extraneous ones sent by Excel. A solution could be to obtain the contents of the actual cell where the user entered the function. However, I can't find a way of doing that from within the implementation of my function. Could someone please suggest a way out?

  I've found lots of documentation on how to install com+ components with WiX or an exported msi from dcomcnfg but the problem with these approaches is I can't see where to specify the com+ server. Currently we register the components with clireg and the -s switch which allows us to specify the com+ server like so: clireg32.exe BLEH.VBR -s COMSERVER -t BLEH.TLB -d This is messy to say the least and I've been trying to get this into some automated form of installation that doesn't involve calling a batch file full of clireg32 calls. Currently WiX is the backbone of our packaging automation so a solution with WiX would be awesome. Thanks.
