  • how send data record using SendMessage(..) in separate process

    - by XBasic3000
    i use to send a data on two separate process but it fails. it works only under same process... this is concept. //----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MainApps //----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Type PMyrec = ^TMyrec; TMyrec = Record name : string; add : string; age : integer; end; :OnButtonSend var aData : PMyrec; begin new(aData); aData.Name := 'MyName'; aData.Add := 'My Address'; aData.Age : 18; SendMessage(FindWindow('SubApps'),WM_MyMessage,0,Integer(@aData)); end; //----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SubApps //----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Type PMyrec = ^TMyrec; TMyrec = Record name : string; add : string; age : integer; end; :OnCaptureMessage var aData : PMyrec; begin aData := PMyrec(Msg.LParam); showmessage(aData^.Name); end;

  • How would I structure the loop to go through inputs?

    - by dmanexe
    I am attempting to make a loop that will go through an array structured like this: $input[n][checked] $input[n][input] The 2nd input acts as a price multiplier, but doesn't have to exist (field can be blank). I don't think a foreach loop is right because I don't think it handles the inputs from the form in the correct dimensional array order to keep the information together. I have inputs on a form that look like this: <input type="checkbox" name="measure[<?php echo $item->id; ?>][checked]" value="<?php echo $item->id; ?>"> <input class="item_mult" type="text" name="measure[<?php echo $item->id; ?>][input]" /> I am attempting to make the loop go through and act as a multiplier on the input relative to its sibling field. (i.e. input[1][input] would be an integer that I want to retrieve later, grouped with input[1][checked]) <? $field = $this->input->post('measure',true); $totals = array(); foreach($field as $value): if ($value['input'] == TRUE) { $query = $this->db->get_where('items', array('id' => $value['input']))->row(); $totals[] = $query->price; ?> <p><?=$query->name?> - <?=money_format('%(#10n', $query->price)?></p> <?php } else { } endforeach; ?> And finally, the last code to array_sum and print the grand total: <? $grand_total = array_sum($totals); ?> <p><?=money_format('%(#10n', $grand_total)?></p> Eventually, I will need to store these records in a database, so I am sending complete item IDs through, etc.

  • Java method keyword "final" and its use

    - by Lukas Eder
    When I create complex type hierarchies (several levels, several types per level), I like to use the final keyword on methods implementing some interface declaration. An example: interface Garble { int zork(); } interface Gnarf extends Garble { /** * This is the same as calling {@link #zblah(0)} */ int zblah(); int zblah(int defaultZblah); } And then abstract class AbstractGarble implements Garble { @Override public final int zork() { ... } } abstract class AbstractGnarf extends AbstractGarble implements Gnarf { // Here I absolutely want to fix the default behaviour of zblah // No Gnarf shouldn't be allowed to set 1 as the default, for instance @Override public final int zblah() { return zblah(0); } // This method is not implemented here, but in a subclass @Override public abstract int zblah(int defaultZblah); } I do this for several reasons: It helps me develop the type hierarchy. When I add a class to the hierarchy, it is very clear, what methods I have to implement, and what methods I may not override (in case I forgot the details about the hierarchy) I think overriding concrete stuff is bad according to design principles and patterns, such as the template method pattern. I don't want other developers or my users do it. So the final keyword works perfectly for me. My question is: Why is it used so rarely in the wild? Can you show me some examples / reasons where final (in a similar case to mine) would be very bad?

  • Collections of generics

    - by Luis Sep
    According to what I've read, I think this can't be done, but I'd like to be sure. I have a class OpDTO and several other *DTO extends OpDTO. Then, I want to have a method to extract just certain elements from lists of these child DTOs, and return the extracted elements in another list: public List<? extends OpDTO> getLastOp (List<? extends OpDTO> listDTOs) { List<? extends OpDTO> last = new ArrayList<? extends OpDTO>(); //compile error: Cannot instantiate the type ArrayList<? extends OpDTO> //processing return last; } I want ult to be a list of elements of the same kind as elements in listDTOs, and use only OpDTO's methods, but it produces a compile error: Cannot instantiate the type ArrayList<? extends OpDTO> I also tried doing something like: public <T> List<T> getLastOp (List<T> listDTOs) { List<T> last = new ArrayList<T>(); //processing return last; } But then I can't enforce elements in listDTOs to be a subclass of OpDTO, and can't instantiate T. Any idea?

  • Python OOP and lists

    - by Mikk
    Hi, I'm new to Python and it's OOP stuff and can't get it to work. Here's my code: class Tree: root = None; data = []; def __init__(self, equation): self.root = equation; def appendLeft(self, data): self.data.insert(0, data); def appendRight(self, data): self.data.append(data); def calculateLeft(self): result = []; for item in (self.getLeft()): if (type(item) == type(self)): data = item.calculateLeft(); else: data = item; result.append(item); return result; def getLeft(self): return self.data; def getRight(self): data = self.data; data.reverse(); return data; tree2 = Tree("*"); tree2.appendRight(44); tree2.appendLeft(20); tree = Tree("+"); tree.appendRight(4); tree.appendLeft(10); tree.appendLeft(tree2); print(tree.calculateLeft()); It looks like tree2 and tree are sharing list "data"? At the moment I'd like it to output something like [[20,44], 10, 4], but when I tree.appendLeft(tree2) I get RuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded, and when i even won't appendLeft(tree2) it outputs [10, 20, 44, 4] (!!!). What am I missing here? I'm using Portable Python 3.0.1. Thank you

  • Rails - handling global site settings

    - by egarcia
    I'm developing a new rails application which is supposed to be installed several times in order to implement several sites. There are some things, like the "Site Title" or the "Default Number of Items per Page" that clearly belong to a "global settings" table / config file. I've made a list of the things I think I'll need: ActiveRecord model that is capable of: Storing different kinds of data. I suppose this would be accomplished encoding the values on a string on the db, probably with a "type" field. Indexing settings by name Validations based on a "type" attribute (i.e. don't accept invalid dates on "date" settings) Validations based on a allows_nil property. A controller that allows me to change settings via views. I'm pretty sure I could implement this myself, but I'm not willing to reinvent the wheel. I've done some searching, but I could only find rails-settings, which doesn't really serve me: I need a proper model & controller so I can use declarative-authorization, and it does not provide any controller or view facilities. Is there a gem or plugin out there that implements what I want, or any library I should look at? Thanks a lot.

  • Ruby and duck typing: design by contract impossible?

    - by davetron5000
    Method signature in Java: public List<String> getFilesIn(List<File> directories) similar one in ruby def get_files_in(directories) In the case of Java, the type system gives me information about what the method expects and delivers. In Ruby's case, I have no clue what I'm supposed to pass in, or what I'll expect to receive. In Java, the object must formally implement the interface. In Ruby, the object being passed in must respond to whatever methods are called in the method defined here. This seems highly problematic: Even with 100% accurate, up-to-date documentation, the Ruby code has to essentially expose its implementation, breaking encapsulation. "OO purity" aside, this would seem to be a maintenance nightmare. The Ruby code gives me no clue what's being returned; I would have to essentially experiment, or read the code to find out what methods the returned object would respond to. Not looking to debate static typing vs duck typing, but looking to understand how you maintain a production system where you have almost no ability to design by contract. Update No one has really addressed the exposure of a method's internal implementation via documentation that this approach requires. Since there are no interfaces, if I'm not expecting a particular type, don't I have to itemize every method I might call so that the caller knows what can be passed in? Or is this just an edge case that doesn't really come up?

  • Storing an object to use in multiple classes

    - by Aaron Sanders
    I am wondering the best way to store an object in memory that is used in a lot of classes throughout an application. Let me set up my problem for you: We have multiple databases, 1 per customer. We also have a master table and each row is detailed information about the databases such as database name, server IP it's located and a few config settings. I have an application that loops through those multiple databases and runs some updates on them. The settings I mentioned above are updated each loop iteration into memory. The application then runs through series of processes that include multiple classes using this data. The data never changes during the processes, only during the loop iteration. The variables are related to a customer, so I have them stored in a customer class. I suppose I could make all of the members shared or should I use a singleton for the customer class? I've never actually used a singleton, only read they are good in this type of situation. Are there better solutions to this type of scenario? Also, I could have plans for this application to be multithreaded later. Sorry if this is confusing. If you have questions, let me know and I will answer them. Thanks for your help.

  • What is the best database structure for this scenario?

    - by Ricketts
    I have a database that is holding real estate MLS (Multiple Listing Service) data. Currently, I have a single table that holds all the listing attributes (price, address, sqft, etc.). There are several different property types (residential, commercial, rental, income, land, etc.) and each property type share a majority of the attributes, but there are a few that are unique to that property type. My question is the shared attributes are in excess of 250 fields and this seems like too many fields to have in a single table. My thought is I could break them out into an EAV (Entity-Attribute-Value) format, but I've read many bad things about that and it would make running queries a real pain as any of the 250 fields could be searched on. If I were to go that route, I'd literally have to pull all the data out of the EAV table, grouped by listing id, merge it on the application side, then run my query against the in memory object collection. This also does not seem very efficient. I am looking for some ideas or recommendations on which way to proceed. Perhaps the 250+ field table is the only way to proceed. Just as a note, I'm using SQL Server 2012, .NET 4.5 w/ Entity Framework 5, C# and data is passed to asp.net web application via WCF service. Thanks in advance.

  • SQL query to get latest record for all distinct items in a table

    - by David Buckley
    I have a table of all sales defined like: mysql> describe saledata; +-------------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------+-------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +-------------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------+-------+ | SaleDate | datetime | NO | | NULL | | | StoreID | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | | NULL | | | Quantity | int(10) unsigned | NO | | NULL | | | Price | decimal(19,4) | NO | | NULL | | | ItemID | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | | NULL | | +-------------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------+-------+ I need to get the last sale price for all items (as the price may change). I know I can run a query like: SELECT price FROM saledata WHERE itemID = 1234 AND storeID = 111 ORDER BY saledate DESC LIMIT 1 However, I want to be able to get the last sale price for all items (the ItemIDs are stored in a separate item table) and insert them into a separate table. How can I get this data? I've tried queries like this: SELECT storeID, itemID, price FROM saledata WHERE itemID IN (SELECT itemID from itemmap) ORDER BY saledate DESC LIMIT 1 and then wrap that into an insert, but it's not getting the proper data. Is there one query I can run to get the last price for each item and insert that into a table defined like: mysql> describe lastsale; +-------------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------+-------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +-------------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------+-------+ | StoreID | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | | NULL | | | Price | decimal(19,4) | NO | | NULL | | | ItemID | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | | NULL | | +-------------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------+-------+

  • Creating a property setter delegate

    - by Jim C
    I have created methods for converting a property lambda to a delegate: public static Delegate MakeGetter<T>(Expression<Func<T>> propertyLambda) { var result = Expression.Lambda(propertyLambda.Body).Compile(); return result; } public static Delegate MakeSetter<T>(Expression<Action<T>> propertyLambda) { var result = Expression.Lambda(propertyLambda.Body).Compile(); return result; } These work: Delegate getter = MakeGetter(() => SomeClass.SomeProperty); object o = getter.DynamicInvoke(); Delegate getter = MakeGetter(() => someObject.SomeProperty); object o = getter.DynamicInvoke(); but these won't compile: Delegate setter = MakeSetter(() => SomeClass.SomeProperty); setter.DynamicInvoke(new object[]{propValue}); Delegate setter = MakeSetter(() => someObject.SomeProperty); setter.DynamicInvoke(new object[]{propValue}); The MakeSetter lines fail with "The type arguments cannot be inferred from the usage. Try specifying the type arguments explicitly." Is what I'm trying to do possible? Thanks in advance.

  • Button Visibility Converter

    - by developer
    Hi All, I have a requirement wherein I need to display on a User form, a Create Button if that user has doesnt have a profile and a Edit Button if he does have a profile. I am using a converter to change the visibility of the button. Below is my code, <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <Button Content="Create Profile" Visibility="{Binding Profile,Converter={StaticResource ButtonVisibilityConverter}, ConverterParameter='Create'}" Command="local:LaunchEditor" CommandParameter="{Binding}"/> <Button Content="Edit Profile" Visibility="{Binding Profile,Converter={StaticResource ButtonVisibilityConverter}, ConverterParameter='Edit'}" Command="local:LaunchEditor" CommandParameter="{Binding}"/> </StackPanel> Below is my converter code public class ButtonVisibilityConverter : IValueConverter { public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { string btName = null; btName = (string)parameter; if ((value==null)&&(btName=="Create")) { return Visibility.Visible; } else if ((value != null) && (btName=="Edit")) { return Visibility.Visible; } else { return Visibility.Collapsed; } } public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, CultureInfo culture) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } Everything works fine initially, but the moment I click on the Create Profile window, and it is the constructor that loads the profile window, after that even if I close that window without doing anything, the Create button turns to edit. My guess is that, it is because the constructor would have create the profile object and so even though the object is empty it shows me edit button instead of create. Is there any other way I could display button visibility??

  • curios about CCSpriteBatchNode's addchild method

    - by lzyy
    when diving into "learn cocos2d game development with ios5", in ch08 in EnemyCache.m -(id) init { if ((self = [super init])) { // get any image from the Texture Atlas we're using CCSpriteFrame* frame = [[CCSpriteFrameCache sharedSpriteFrameCache] spriteFrameByName:@"monster-a.png"]; batch = [CCSpriteBatchNode batchNodeWithTexture:frame.texture]; [self addChild:batch]; [self initEnemies]; [self scheduleUpdate]; } return self; } so batch is with texture "monster-a.png" in EnemyEntity.m's initWithType method switch (type) { case EnemyTypeUFO: enemyFrameName = @"monster-a.png"; bulletFrameName = @"shot-a.png"; break; case EnemyTypeCruiser: enemyFrameName = @"monster-b.png"; bulletFrameName = @"shot-b.png"; shootFrequency = 1.0f; initialHitPoints = 3; break; case EnemyTypeBoss: enemyFrameName = @"monster-c.png"; bulletFrameName = @"shot-c.png"; shootFrequency = 2.0f; initialHitPoints = 15; break; default: [NSException exceptionWithName:@"EnemyEntity Exception" reason:@"unhandled enemy type" userInfo:nil]; } if ((self = [super initWithSpriteFrameName:enemyFrameName])) { //... } so the returned object may be in 3 different frame. since Only the CCSprites that are contained in that texture can be added to the CCSpriteBatchNode, obviously, 'monster-b.png' is not contained in 'monster-a.png', why the different enemy can still be added to the batch?

  • How to set the RelativeSource in a DataTemplate that is nested in a HierarchicalDataTemplate?

  • How do I utilize REST to post GPS data from an Android device into a Ruby on Rails application?

    - by joecan
    I am a student in the process a building an Android app that can post a GPS track into a Rails application. I would like to do things the "Rails" way and take advantage of the REST. My rails application basically has 3 models at this point: users, tracks, and points. A user has_many tracks and a track has_many points. A track also has a total distance. Points have a latitude and longitude. I have successfully been able to create an empty track with: curl -i -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/xml' -d '<track><distance>100</distance></track>' http://localhost:3000/users/1/tracks Whoo hoo! That is pretty cool. I am really impressed that rails do this. Just to see what would happen I tried the following: curl -i -X POST -H 'Content-Type: application/xml -d '<track><distance>100</distance><points><point><lat>3</lat><lng>2</lng></point></points></track>' http://localhost:3000/users/1/tracks Fail! The server spits back: Processing TracksController#create (for 127.0.0.1 at 2010-04-14 00:03:25) [POST] Parameters: {"track"={"points"={"point"={"lng"="2", "lat"="3"}}, "distance"="100"}, "user_id"="1"} User Load (0.6ms) SELECT * FROM "users" WHERE ("users"."id" = 1) ActiveRecord::AssociationTypeMismatch (Point(#-620976268) expected, got Array(#-607740138)): app/controllers/tracks_controller.rb:47:in `create' It seems my tracks_controller doesn't like or understand what it's getting from the params object in my tracks_controller.rb: def create @track = @user.tracks.build(params[:track]) My xml might be wrong, but at least Rails seems to be expecting a Point from it. Is there anyway I can fix TracksController.create so that it will be able to parse xml of a track with nested multiple points? Or is there another way I should be doing this entirely?

  • Creating circular generic references

    - by M. Jessup
    I am writing an application to do some distributed calculations in a peer to peer network. In defining the network I have two class the P2PNetwork and P2PClient. I want these to be generic and so have the definitions of: P2PNetwork<T extends P2PClient<? extends P2PNetwork<T>>> P2PClient<T extends P2PNetwork<? extends T>> with P2PClient defining a method of setNetwork(T network). What I am hoping to describe with this code is: A P2PNetwork is constituted of clients of a certain type A P2PClient may only belong to a network whose clients consist of the same type as this client (the circular-reference) This seems correct to me but if I try to create a non-generic version such as MyP2PClient<MyP2PNetwork<? extends MyP2PClient>> myClient; and other variants I receive numerous errors from the compiler. So my questions are as follows: Is a generic circular reference even possible (I have never seen anything explicitly forbidding it)? Is the above generic definition a correct definition of such a circular relationship? If it is valid, is it the "correct" way to describe such a relationship (i.e. is there another valid definition, which is stylistically preferred)? How would I properly define a non-generic instance of a Client and Server given the proper generic definition?

  • can't increment Glib::ustring::iterator (getting "invalid lvalue in increment" compiler error)

    - by davka
    in the following code: int utf8len(char* s, int len) { Glib::ustring::iterator p( string::iterator(s) ); Glib::ustring::iterator e ( string::iterator(s+len) ); int i=0; for (; p != e; p++) // ERROR HERE! i++; return i; } I get the compiler error on the for line, which is sometimes "invalid lvalue in increment", and sometimes "ISO C++ forbids incrementing a pointer of type etc... ". Yet, the follwing code: int utf8len(char* s) { Glib::ustring us(s); int i=0; for (Glib::ustring::iterator p = us.begin(); p != us.end(); p++) i++; return i; } compiles and works fine. according the Glib::ustring documentation and the include file, ustring iterator can be constructed from std::string iterator, and has operator++() defined. Weird? BONUS QUESTION :) Is there a difference in C++ between the 2 ways of defining a variable: classname ob1( initval ); classname ob1 = initval; I believed that they are synonymous; yet, if I change Glib::ustring::iterator p( string::iterator(s) ); to Glib::ustring::iterator p = string::iterator(s); I get a compiler error (gcc 4.1.2) conversion from ‘__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator ’ to non-scalar type ‘Glib::ustring_Iterator<__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator, std::allocator ’ requesed thanks a lot!

  • Form Validation using Java inside PHP

I have a form on a php page and I need to validate the qty value on my form so that it doesn't exceed $qty (value pulled from mySQL) and is not less than zero. Sounds easy--hmm wish it were..lol! I had it checking if the value was numeric and in my attempts to make this work I even broke that--not a good morning..lol! Here's a snip of my Java Fn: <script type='text/javascript'> function checkQty(elem){ var numericExpression = /^[0-9]+$/; if(elem.value.match(numericExpression)){ return true; }else{ alert("Quantity for RMA must be greater than zero and less than original order!"); elem.focus(); return false; } } </script> The function is called from the submit button, onClick: <input type="submit" name="submit" onclick="checkQty(document.getElementById('qty')";"> I've tried: var numericExpression = /^[0-9]+$/; if(elem.value.match(numericExpression) || elem.value < 0 || elem.value > <? int($qty) ?>){ No dice....HELP!?!

    I'm trying to produce a page with a list of specific nodes but the node_view returns an empty string. This is my query: function events_upcoming() { $output = ''; $has_events = false; $res = pager_query(db_rewrite_sql("SELECT n.nid, n.created FROM {node} n WHERE n.type = 'events' AND n.status = 1 ORDER BY n.sticky DESC, n.created DESC"), variable_get('default_nodes_main', 10)); while ($n = db_fetch_object($res)) { $output .= node_view(node_load($n->nid), 1); $has_events = true; } if ($has_events) { $output .= theme('pager', NULL, variable_get('default_nodes_main', 10)); } return $output; } hook_menu (part of): 'events/upcoming' => array( 'title' => t('Upcoming Events'), 'page callback' => 'events_upcoming', 'access arguments' => array('access content'), 'type' => MENU_SUGGESTED_ITEM ), the implementation of hook_view: function events_view($node, $teaser = false, $page = false) { $node = node_prepare($node, $teaser); if ($page) { // TODO: Handle breadcrump } return $node; } now, if I add a var_dump($node) inside events_view the node is present and I can see the values I want, and if I add a var_dump inside while loop in events_upcoming I also get a node id from the query. the strange thing is, when I load localhost/events/upcoming I see the pager and nothing else. I have used the blog.module as a reference, but what am I missing here?

    - by nCdy
    <siteMapNode roles="*"> <siteMapNode url="~/Default.aspx" title=" Main" description="Main" roles="*"/> <siteMapNode url="~/Items.aspx" title=" Adv" description="Adv" roles="Administrator"/> .... any user can see Adv page. That is a trouble and a qustion : why and how to hide out of role sitenodes. but if I do HttpContext.Current.User.IsInRole("Administrator") it shows me if user in Administrator role or not. web config : <authentication mode="Forms"/> <membership defaultProvider="SqlProvider" userIsOnlineTimeWindow="20"> <providers> <add connectionStringName="FlowWebSQL" enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="true" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="true" passwordFormat="Hashed" applicationName="/" name="SqlProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider"/> </providers> </membership> <roleManager enabled="true" defaultProvider="SqlProvider"> <providers> <add connectionStringName="FlowWebSQL" name="SqlProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlRoleProvider" /> </providers> </roleManager>
