  • (Ordered) Set Partitions in fixed-size Blocks

    Here is a function I would like to write but am unable to do so. Even if you don't / can't give a solution I would be grateful for tips. For example, I know that there is a correlation between the ordered represantions of the sum of an integer and ordered set partitions but that alone does not help me in finding the solution. So here is the description of the function I need: The Task Create an efficient* function List<int[]> createOrderedPartitions(int n_1, int n_2,..., int n_k) that returns a list of arrays of all set partions of the set {0,...,n_1+n_2+...+n_k-1} in number of arguments blocks of size (in this order) n_1,n_2,...,n_k (e.g. n_1=2, n_2=1, n_3=1 -> ({0,1},{3},{2}),...). Here is a usage example: int[] partition = createOrderedPartitions(2,1,1).get(0); partition[0]; // -> 0 partition[1]; // -> 1 partition[2]; // -> 3 partition[3]; // -> 2 Note that the number of elements in the list is (n_1+n_2+...+n_n choose n_1) * (n_2+n_3+...+n_n choose n_2) * ... * (n_k choose n_k). Also, createOrderedPartitions(1,1,1) would create the permutations of {0,1,2} and thus there would be 3! = 6 elements in the list. * by efficient I mean that you should not initially create a bigger list like all partitions and then filter out results. You should do it directly. Extra Requirements If an argument is 0 treat it as if it was not there, e.g. createOrderedPartitions(2,0,1,1) should yield the same result as createOrderedPartitions(2,1,1). But at least one argument must not be 0. Of course all arguments must be = 0. Remarks The provided pseudo code is quasi Java but the language of the solution doesn't matter. In fact, as long as the solution is fairly general and can be reproduced in other languages it is ideal. Actually, even better would be a return type of List<Tuple<Set>> (e.g. when creating such a function in Python). However, then the arguments wich have a value of 0 must not be ignored. createOrderedPartitions(2,0,2) would then create [({0,1},{},{2,3}),({0,2},{},{1,3}),({0,3},{},{1,2}),({1,2},{},{0,3}),...] Background I need this function to make my mastermind-variation bot more efficient and most of all the code more "beautiful". Take a look at the filterCandidates function in my source code. There are unnecessary / duplicate queries because I'm simply using permutations instead of specifically ordered partitions. Also, I'm just interested in how to write this function. My ideas for (ugly) "solutions" Create the powerset of {0,...,n_1+...+n_k}, filter out the subsets of size n_1, n_2 etc. and create the cartesian product of the n subsets. However this won't actually work because there would be duplicates, e.g. ({1,2},{1})... First choose n_1 of x = {0,...,n_1+n_2+...+n_n-1} and put them in the first set. Then choose n_2 of x without the n_1 chosen elements beforehand and so on. You then get for example ({0,2},{},{1,3},{4}). Of course, every possible combination must be created so ({0,4},{},{1,3},{2}), too, and so on. Seems rather hard to implement but might be possible.   • How do you place an Excel Sheet/Workbook onto a C# .NET Winform?

    I am trying to create a stand alone application in Visual Studio 2008 C# .Net that will house Excel Workbooks (2007). I am using Office.Interop in order to create the Excel application and I open the workbooks via Workbooks.Open(...). The Interop does not provide any functionality to "move" the workbooks onto a form so I turned to P/Invoke Win32 library. I am able to move the entire excel application onto a WinForm with great success: // pseudo code to give you the idea excel = new Excel.ApplicationClass(); SetParent(excel.Hwnd, form.handle); This allows me to customize the form and control user input. All right click commands and formula editing work properly. Now, the issue I run into is when I want to open two workbooks in two separate forms. I do this by creating two excel application classes and placing each of those in their own form. When I try to reference one workbook to another workbook via =[Book2]Sheet1!A1, for example, it does not update. This is expected as each application is running under its own thread/process. Here are the alternatives I have tried. If you have any suggestions I would be greatly appreciative.(OLE is not an option. VSTO must be available) Create a single application class and move the workbook window into my form. Results: The window moves into my form and displays correctly, however, no right click or left click works on the form and it never gains focus. (I have tried to manually set focus and it does not work either). My guess is, by moving the window outside of the XLDESK application (viewable in Spy++ for Excel Application), the workbook application (EXCEL7) does not receive the correct window messages to gain focus and to behave properly. This leads me to: Move the XLDESK window handle into my form. Results: This allows the workbook to be click-able again but also has an undesired result of moving all child windows into the same form. Create a main excel application that creates workbooks. Create a new excel application for each new window. Move the workbook under the new excel application XLDESK window. Results: This also has the same effect of the 1st option. Unable to click in the workbook. This must mean that the thread that created the workbook is also responsible for the events. Create a windows hook that watches the WndProc procedure. Results: No events watched. The targeted thread must export the hook proc in a DLL export call. Excel does not do this and thus you cannot inject into it's DLL (unless someone can prove me wrong). I am able to watch all threads within my own process but not from an outside process. Excel is created as a separate process. Subclass NativeWindow. Results: Same as #4. After I move the window into my form, all events are captured up until the mouse is directly over the excel sheet making the sheet seem unclickable. One idea I haven't tried yet is just to continually save the excel sheet as the user edits it. This should update all references but I would feel this would cause poor system performance. There will be numerous chart references as well and I'm not sure if this solution would cause problems further down the road. I think in the end, all the workbooks need to be created by the same Excel Application and then moved to get the desired results but I can't seem to find the correct way to move the windows without disabling the user input in the process. Any suggestions?

    Hi, I've managed to read some values into a table view and display them in the Master View of a SplitViewController. What I would like to do is to tap on a row of the Master View and display the details on the detailViewController but in a TableView.   • Memory leak involving jQuery Ajax requests

    I have a webpage that's leaking memory in both IE8 and Firefox; the memory usage displayed in the Windows Process Explorer just keeps growing over time. The following page requests the "unplanned.json" url, which is a static file that never changes (though I do set my Cache-control HTTP header to no-cache to make sure that the Ajax request always goes through). When it gets the results, it clears out an HTML table, loops over the json array it got back from the server, and dynamically adds a row to an HTML table for each entry in the array. Then it waits 2 seconds and repeats this process. So you can't give it a query like `$("#content tbody tr")` and expect it to remove all of the elements you've specified. Any element that you remove with it must have an `id` attribute. So if I want to remove my `tbody`, then I must assign an `id` to my `tbody` tag or else it will give an error. It removes the element itself and all of its descendants, so if you simply want to empty that element then you'll have to re-create it afterwards (or modify the plugin to empty instead of remove). So here's my page above modified to use Toran's plugin. For the sake of simplicity I didn't apply any of the general performance advice offered by Peter. FullScreenImage class inherits QLabel. After some delay, the fullscreen picture should be hidden, so I use QTimer to trigger an event after some delay. The event handler is the hideOnScreen method which hides the label and should clear the memory. The problem is the following: Whenever I call QPixmap::fromImage, it allocates the memory for the pixmap data and copies the data from QImage memory buffer to the QPixmap memory buffer. After the label is hidden, the QPixmap data still remains allocated, and even worse, after the new QPixmap::fromImage call the new chunk of memory is allocated for the new picture, and the old data is not freed from memory. This causes a memory leak (cca 10 MB per method call with my testing pictures). How can I solve that leak? I've even tried to create a private QPixmap variable, store pixmap created by the QPixmap::fromImage to it, and then tried to call its destructor in hideOnScreen method, but it didn't help. Is there a non-static way to create QPixmap from QImage? Or even better, is there a way to create QPixmap directly from IplImage* ? Thank you in advance for your answers.

    I have been trying to figure out how to highlight the selected row in a table. In my jsp I have jsp scriplet that can get access to the id of the row the displaytag library is creating. I want to compare it to the the id of the current row selected by the user ${currentNoteId}. Right now if the row id = 849 (hardcoded) the class "currentClass" is added to just that row of the table. I need to change the 849 for the {$currentNoteId} and I don't know how to do it. I am using java, Spring MVC.     I have an ASP.NET GridView which has columns that look like this: | Foo | Bar | Total1 | Total2 | Total3 | Is it possible to create a header on two rows that looks like this? | | Totals | | Foo | Bar | 1 | 2 | 3 | The data in each row will remain unchanged as this is just to pretty up the header and decrease the horizontal space that the grid takes up. The entire GridView is sortable in case that matters. I don't intend for the added "Totals" spanning column to have any sort functionality.     Basically, i need the equivalent of T-SQL CONVERT(NVARCHAR(10), datevalue, 126) I've tried: from t in ctx.table select t.Date.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd") but it throws not supported exception from t in ctx.table select "" + t.Date.Year + "-" + t.Date.Month + "-" + t.Date.Day but i don't think it's an usable solution, because i might need to be able to change the format. The only option I see is to use Convert.ToString(t.Date, FormatProvider), but i need a format provider, and I'm not sure it works either.

  • Wrap words in uitableview, iphone

    I am creating an rss feed application. As a sample i have downloaded apples rss feed, but the problem with it is that the words in the table cells are not wrapped. As the contents are of very lengthy, the users may not be able to read the full text from the table unless by going to that link. Instead, I need to display that in 2 or 3 lines, otherwise saying, need to use word wrap in the tables. How to implement that? pls reply

  • Run MySQL INSERT Query multiple times (insert values into multiple tables)

    Hi, basically, I have 3 tables; users and projects (which is a many-to-many relationship), then I have 'usersprojects' to allow the one-to-many formation. When a user adds a project, I need the project information stored and then the 'userid' and 'projectid' stored in the usersprojects table. It sounds like its really straight forward but I'm having problems with the syntax I think!? As it stands, I have this as my INSERT queries (values going into 2 different tables): $project_id = $_POST['project_id']; $projectname = $_POST['projectname']; $projectdeadline = $_POST['projectdeadline']; $projectdetails = $_POST['projectdetails']; $user_id = $_POST['user_id']; $sql = "INSERT INTO projects (projectid, projectname, projectdeadline, projectdetails) VALUES ('{$projectid}','{$projectname}','{$projectdeadline}','{$projectdetails}')"; $sql = "INSERT INTO usersprojects (userid, projectid) VALUES ('{$userid}','{$projectid}')"; None of the information is being stored in the projects table, but the user ID is being stored in the usersprojects table (but not project ID!?)...   • Howto - Running Redmine on mongrel as a service on windows

    I use Redmine on Mongrel as a project manager and I use a batch file (start-redmine.bat) to start the redmine in mongrel. There are 2 issues with my setup: 1. I have a running IIS on the server that occupies the HTTP port (80) 2. The start-redmine.bat must be periodically checked to see if it's stopped after a restart that is caused by windows update service. for the first issue, I have no choice but running mongrel on a port like 3000 and for the second issue I have to create a windows service that runs automatically in the background when the windows starts; and here comes the trouble! There are at least 3 ways to run redmine as a service that I'm aware of; none of them can satisfy a performance view on this subject. you may read about them on http://stackoverflow.com/questions/877943/how-to-configure-a-rails-app-redmine-to-run-as-a-service-on-windows I tried them all. The easiest way to setup such a service is using mongrel_service approach; in 3 lines of command you're done. but the performance is significantly lower than running that batch file... Now, I wanna show you my approach: First suppose we have ruby installed into c:\ruby and we have issued the command gem install mongrel to get the mongrel gem installed into c:\ruby\bin Also, suppose we have installed the Redmine into a folder like c:\redmine; and we have ruby's path (i.e. c:\ruby\bin) in our PATH environment variable. Now Download and install the Windows NT Resource Kit Tools from microsoft website. Open the command-line tool that comes with the Resource Kit (from start menu). Use instsrv to install a dummy service called Redmine using the following command: "[path-to-instsrv.exe]\instsrv" Redmine "[path-to-srvany.exe]\srvany.exe" in my case (which is the default case) it was something like this: "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\instsrv" Redmine "C:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools\srvany.exe" Now create the batch file. Open a notepad and paste these instructions into it and then save it as "c:\redmine\start-redmine.bat" @echo off cd c:\redmine\ mongrel_rails start -a 0.0.0.0 -p 3000 -e production Now we need to configure that dummy service we had created before. WATCH OUT WHAT YOU'RE DOING FROM HERE ON, OR YOU MAY CORRUPT YOUR WINDOWS. To configure that service, open windows registry editor (Start - Run - regedit) and navigate to this node: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Redmine Right-Click on "Redmine" node and using the context menu, create a new key called Parameters (New - Key) Right-Click on "Parameters" and create a String Value property called Application. Do this again and create another String Value called AppParameters. Now Double-click on "Application" and put cmd.exe into "Value data" section. Then Double-click on "AppParameters" and put /C "C:\redmine\start-redmine.bat" into Value data section. We're done! issue this command to run the redmine on mongrel as a service: net start Redmine

    The table videos has the following fields: id | average | name How can i write the query, to update the name of video, which have the max average, or the second by size average!!! i can do that with two queries, by selecting the max(average) from the table, and then update the name, where ite average equal to max or to second value, but i want to do that in one query. i think the query must look like this UPDATE videos SET name = 'something' WHERE average = MAX(average) Any suggestions?

    I have wpf datagrid with multiple selection (model has properties IsSelected...) and it works fine, but when I start program, I have to click on the table first and after that work multiple selection. When I first click on the table it select item under cursor (if i have pressed shift, it select the item too, not do multiple selection). I supposed it can be because of datagrid hasnt focus, but when I do datagrid.Focus() on loaded window, it doesnt helped. Thanks a lot

    Howdy all, I've got a table, which won't delete a row. Specifically, when I try to delete any row with a GEO_SHAPE_ID over 150000000 it simply does not disappear from the DB. I have tried: SQLyog to erase it. DELETE FROM TABLE WHERE GEO_SHAPE_ID = 150000042 (0 rows affected). UNLOCK TABLES then 2. As far as I am aware, bigint is a valid candidate for auto_increment. Anyone know what could be up? You gotta help us, Doc. We’ve tried nothin’ and we’re all out of ideas! DJS. PS. Here is the table construct and some sample data just for giggles.     Hi there, I'm having trouble with a query in SQL Server 2008 on some forex trading data. I have a trades table and an orders table. A trade needs to comprise of 2 or more orders. DDL schema and sample data below. What I want to do is write a query that shows the profit/loss in pips for each trade. A pip is 1/1000th of a currency. So the difference between USD 1.3441 and 1.3442 is 1 pip in forex-speak. A trade usually has one entry order and multiple exit orders. So for example if I buy 3 lots of the currency pair GBP/USD at the exchange rate of 1.6100 and then sell 1 lot at 1.6150, 1 lot at 1.6200 and 1 lot at 1.6250 then the profit is (1.6150 - 1.6100) + (1.6200 - 1.6100) + (1.6250 - 1.6100), or 50 + 100 + 150 = 300 pips profit. The trade could also go the other way (Shorting). For example the currency pair can be sold first before it's bought back later at a cheaper price. I would like a query that returns the following: tradeId, currencyPair, profitInPips It seems like a pretty straightforward query, but it's eluding me right now.     Guys, I have a set of tables (say Account, Customer) in a schema (say dbo) and I have some other tables (say Order, OrderItem) in another schema (say inventory). There's a relationship between the Order table and the Customer table. I want to delete all the relationships between the tables in the first schema (dbo) and the tables in the second schema (inventory), without deleting the relationships between tables inside the same schema. Is that possible? Any help appreciated.
