Somehow I don't like IDE very much,
but I don't find a particular good tool to build java applications from source yet.
I welcome all kinds of feedbacks!
I have plenty of RAM, however, after starting and finishing a large number of processes, it seems that most of the applications' virtual memory has been paged to disk, and switching to any of the older processes requires a very long time to load the memory back into RAM.
Is there a way, either via Windows API or via kernel call, to get Windows to unpage all (or as much as possible) memory? Maybe by stepping through the list of running processes and get the memory manager to unpage each process's memory?
I am starting my first "programming" project in PHP making some sort of web application that give the linux program, Motion, a decent web interface.
Anyways, I was curious as to how when real applications are programmed, do y'all go for a class for each view or one single class for the application altogether? I know this is more of a preference thing, I was just curious as to how it happens in real software.
Shared libraries .so files are placed in lib/armeabi in an apk file.
I have read after installation the libs gets extracted to /data/data/application_package/lib
How can I get the exact path to this directory in my application at run time?
Is this directory readable by the application? Or is only executeable access allowed?
If it is readable - Is this still true for copy protected applications?
I have been using CouchDB on some prototype applications and it has been brilliant, very easy to use and extremely quick. I was wondering if anyone has been using it in production and have any views on it's reliability, performance suitability for operational management etc ?? I am considering using it to support a service layer and would make use of its replication functionality.
Any comments/experiences would be most welcome.
Is it a good practice to return a byte[] in a WCF service which will be invoked by many applications
below is the code
public byte[] GetDoc(string docParam)
{
byte[] doc;
doc = GenerateDoc(docParam);
}
Thanks
The application I am developing is in large parts a background-only Service BUT requires some settings that the user must add. Is there a way to integrate applications with the common Settings application/view/activity?
I am writed an automated test in Selenium IDE to test one of our applications. Our app throws one of those confirmation dialogs "Are you sure you want to continue."
Click OK or Cancel
Selenium does not support the clicking of these dialog boxes. I have
tried the following SeleniumIDE functions with no success:
chooseOkOnNextConfirmation
chooseOkOnNextConfirmationAndWait
Is there a javascript funtion I can call within SeleniumIDE to do
this, or am I out of luck.
Are there any professional Java desktop applications in use? I'm asking this because I started to study Java and would like to know it's possibilities and/or domains in which java is used.
Based the article (http://blogs.msdn.com/brada/archive/2009/03/17/mix09-building-amazing-business-applications-with-silverlight-3.aspx) I've tried to start-up the RIA services.
At the moment there are 2 blockers:
1. On the client side I don't have "
Could anybody help to resolve problems?
Thank you.
P.S. I have VS2008, SP1, Silverlight, RIA Services installed.
I was recently asked "Do you know when to decide between going for more RAM or more servers?" (in the context of scaling data mining applications).
I had no idea, so what are some ways to decide? I have very little knowledge of architecture and scaling (my understanding of computer memory and what a server does is limited to the high-level basics), so tips on learning more about these things in general are also very welcome.
Maybe this cannot be done, but please help or suggest how this can be achieved without writing something to disk.
Lets suppose there are two string values that I want to share between two independent applications.
You are welcome to provide code sample in any programming language.
I just usually do applications for myself as a hobby. It looks like DI frameworks have a big momentum in the community, so I thought maybe I should learn it to improve my coding skills. From what I understand, it seems to be geared more towards big projects. Is it still a good idea to use it for example in a 5k lines project?
Thanks
What is the most efficient way to start learning develop Facebook applications? Any web resource or book that you would recommend to start from? Any MUST READ or Bibles available for this? There are plenty of them in Amazon, but which one really worth to spend time?
What kind of development technologies are used in this? Is PHP/MySQL/JS enough to jump in?
Thanks
We are running our applications on .NET 3.5 and are planning on either updating to .NET 4.0 or switching entirely to the Java platform, J2EE v6, as we've heard from some clients that "it's better."
Can anyone either explain some of the large differences between the two platforms and maybe what kind of costs would be associated with switching to Java rather than just updating, or point me to some articles or papers that make such comparisons?
Thanks!
Can anyone please explain for developing rich internet applications which one of these two technologies (Flash VS Jquery) is better to use and why? Please explain in details, it is very confusing. Thank you.
hi

Hi
I am having one applications and I have to implement failover using terracotta.I have gone through the Documentation of terracotta.org for websession.I even run the provided examples but I am not getting any idea to use that with my application.
I have two different C# applications that are running at the same time.
I would like both of them to be able to access the same instance of a DLL (also in C#).
My DLL is thread-safe so I was hoping this would be possible but I'm not sure how.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
I wanted to set up a simple data communication between two C# applications, and I'm not sure what the best method is in doing so. I've previously used Java Sockets and ServerSockets to get the job done, but I'm new to C#, so I've come for advice :) It's going to be two way communication with two clients exchanging strings or something of the like.
I am trying to figure out what is needed for the CONTACTS_IMPORT_CALLBACK variable in django-friends or django-contacts-import applications (contact import is built from friends). I have tried view models, etc.. but everything throws errors. Neither application has documentation so I am just grasping at straws for what is needed. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I've been trying to explain Java threading to a colleague who has never been exposed to multi-threaded applications, but apparently I'm not a very good teacher.
Can anyone recommend a good online or offline resource that can explain threading in a simple, step-by-step manner? I know it's a complex topic, but surely there exists an article, book, or other explanation that can result in an "Aha! I get it, finally!" moment.
