  • How to Display a Bmp in a RTF control in VB.net

    I Started with this C# Question I'm trying to Display a bmp image inside a rtf Box for a Bot program I'm making. This function is supposed to convert a bitmap to rtf code whis is inserted to another rtf formatter srtring with additional text. Kind of like Smilies being used in a chat program. For some reason the output of this function gets rejected by the RTF Box and Vanishes completly.     I'm trying to use MODI to OCR a window's program. Why can MODI handle the original bitmap but not the smaller version taken from it?

  • VB.NET Folder location

    Hello, My program uses some external programs that i included in the Files folder. In my code im reffering to Files/external_program.exe Windows Vista & Windows 7 knows how to handle this and starts the program on the same location as my program in the Files folder. But Xp doesnt know where it is, and Windows XP will think im reffering to the C:\Files folder. So im getting an error and the app crashes. How can i fix this? so windows xp will know that i'm reffering to the Files folder on the same location as my program.

    I've got a report form designer written long ago for a database project. It used a lot of winapi magic hence i was forced to rewrite some parts 'in proper way'. Thanks to some articles from MSDN magazine (here and here) and CodeProject i was able to implement designer surface, toolbox and undo/redo engine. Every resource i discovered on the topic so far is a bit outdated. Can you point to fresh/comprehensive article? Code from article mentioned above seems not working. MenuCommandService.ShowContextMenu is called but nothing appears since there aren't any DesignerVerbs in globalVerbs collection. Should i add 'standard' ones, corresponded to designer actions such as cut/paste, manually? If yes, how can i accomplish this?

    Hi. I can not make NHibernate 2.1 work in machines without framework 3.X (basically, windows 2000 SP4, although it happens with XP too). NHibernate doc do no mention this. Maybe you can help?   • .net difference between right shift and left shift keys

    I am currently working on an application which requires different behaviour based on whether the user presses the right or left shift key (RShiftKey, LShiftKey), however when either of these keys is pressed I only see ShiftKey | Shift. Is there something wrong with my keyboard? (laptop) do I need a new keyboard driver/keyboard in order to send the different key commands maybe... This is a pretty massive problem at the moment, as there is no way of testing that the code works (apart from unit tests). Anyone had any experience of the different shift/alt/ctrl keys?

    Hello, I have a folder with .txt files in it. How can i make my menuitem get those .txt files and put the filenames in the menuitem, so that it creates a list of all .txt files in that folder. So when i put a .txt in the folder the program automaticly creates the menu item. Does someone knows how to do this, or perhaps an example?

  • Fast search in XMl files in .NET (or How to index XML files)

    I have to implement a search feature which is able to quickly perform arbitrary complex queries to XML-data. If the user makes a query, all XML files must be searched to find possible matches. The users will have lots of XML-Files (a few 10000 or more) which are typically a few kilobytes in size. All the XML-files have almost the same structure. I already benchmarked XPath, it is too slow for my needs. How can it be done most efficiently? Is is possible to create indexes for the contents of the XML files (preserving content semantics, not just plain fulltext search)? Will it be useful to put the XML data into an (embedded) SQL database and do the queries with SQL? What other possibilities do I have?

  • How to make designer generated .Net application settings portable

    Hello, I've been looking at modifying the source of the Doppler podcast aggregator with the goal of being able to run the program directly from my mp3 player. Doppler stores application settings using a Visual Studio designer generated Settings class, which by default serializes user settings to the user's home directory. I'd like to change this so that all settings would be stored in the same directory as the exe. It seems that this would be possible by creating a custom provider class which inherits the SettingsProvider class. Has anyone created such a provider and would like to share code? Update: I was able to get a custom settings provider nearly working by using this MSDN sample, i.e. with simple inheritance. I was initially confused as Windows Forms designer stopped working until I did this trick suggested at Codeproject: internal sealed partial class Settings { private MySettingsProvider settingsprovider = new MySettingsProvider(); public Settings() { foreach (SettingsProperty property in this.Properties) { property.Provider = settingsprovider; } ... The program still starts with window size 0;0 though. Anyone with any insight to this? Why the need to assing the provider in runtime---instead of using attributes as suggested by MSDN?     I have a datagridview(dgv) with a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn(colLocation) colLocation.AutoComplete = False colLocation.HeaderText = "Stored to" colLocation.DataSource = DB.getLocation() colLocation.DisplayMember = "description" colLocation.ValueMember = "id" I added the colLocation to dgv. "descirption" contains Unicode characters. I can see the comboBox correctly and choose the item. The problem is when the comboBox lost the focus, the value is changed to first item of the comboBox. Any suggestion? Updated: I found out that the ComboBox doesn't change the data when the DisplayMember is in English characters. It changes only when the DisplayMember is in Unicode chracter.     hi, I've got problem. I'm using ListView to show some data and I need to make two lines in one row. I've found solution to make row higher by adding ImageList with specified height and then I add Environment.NewLine to my text. It works in Vista and 7 but in XP instead of new line there are shown squares. I've been trying to add "\n" "\r\n" and ASCII char 10 but ther were still squares! After few days I still don't know what's wrong and I need your help.

  • .net ViewState in page lifecycle

    I have a page containing a control called PhoneInfo.ascx. PhoneInfo is dynamically created using LoadControl() and then the initControl() function is called passing in an initialization object to set some initial textbox values within PhoneInfo. The user then changes these values and hits a submit button on the page which is wired up to the "submit_click" event. This event invokes the GetPhone() function within PhoneInfo. The returned value has all of the new user entered values except that the phoneId value (stored in ViewState and NOT edited by the user) always comes back as null. I believe that the viewstate is responsible for keeping track of user entered data across a postback, so I can't understand how the user values are coming back but not the explicitly set ViewState["PhoneId"] value! If I set the ViewState["PhoneId"] value in PhoneInfo's page_load event, it retrieves it correctly after the postback, but this isn't an option because I can only initialize that value when the page is ready to provide it. I'm sure I am just messing up the page lifecycle somehow, any suggestion or questions would really help! I have included a much simplified version of the actual code below.     Im trying to write down an UTF8 string (Vietnamese) into C# Console but no success. Im running on windows 7. I tried to use the Encoding class that convert string to char[] to byte[] and then to String, but no help, the string is input directly fron the database. Here is some example Tôi tên là Ð?c, cu?c s?ng th?t vui v? tuy?t v?i It does not show the special character like : Ð or ?... instead it show up ?, much worse with the Encoding class. Does anyone can try this out or know about this problem?   • .NET CF -- Set Form height based on InputPanel state

    Hi, So, I've got a C# project for Windows Mobile phones and I'm trying to work with the InputPanel. Specifically, I've got one form with a stack of Labels and TextBoxes that collect user input. I have an InputPanel that alerts me when the user opens the SIP. Everything works fine so far. When I get messages that the SIP status has changed, I want to change the height of the Form, which doesn't seem possible. Here's my event handler for my InputPanel: void m_InputPanel_EnabledChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { // :( this assignment operation doesn't work and it doesn't this.ClientSize = inputPanel1.VisibleDesktop.Size; // doesn't work this.Size = inputPanel1.VisibleDesktop.Size; // assignment operation works, but isn't very useful this.visibleHeight = inputPanel1.VisibleDesktop.Height; this.InitializeUI(); } When I say that the assignment operation doesn't work, I mean that the values don't change in the debugger. I can understand that maybe I can't change the size of a Form, but I can't understand why trying to change it wouldn't throw an exception, or give a compiler error. I have my Form WindowState set to Normal instead of Maximized, but it doesn't make a difference. Also, I have read http://www.christec.co.nz/blog/archives/42 this page that tells me how I'm supposed to do this, but I can't easily put all of my controls in a Panel because I'm using a bunch of custom stuff to do alpha background controls.

I have written a custom search page that provides faster, more user friendly searches than the default Contacts view and also allows searching of Leads and Contacts simultaneously. It uses GridViews bound to SqlDataSources that query filtered views. I'm sure someone will complain that I'm not using the web services for this, but this is just the design decision we made. These GridViews live in UpdatePanels to enable very slick AJAX updates upon search. It's all working great. I was only able to get the full error message by using the JavaScript debugger in IE. Having found this error, I thought the solution would be simple. I just needed to wrap my databind calls in try/catch blocks to capture any errors. Unfortunately it seems CRM's IIS configuration has the magic ability to capture this error before it ever gets back to my code. Using the debugger I never see it. It never gets to my catch blocks, but it's clearly happening in the SQL Data Source which is clearly (by the stack trace) being triggered by my GridView bind. Any ideas on this? It's driving me crazy.   • window.location.href not working in Safari when using onkeypress

    I'm using an asp textbox and a search button. In Safari if I click the search button i get redirected to the search results page using javascript window.location.href. But strangely the same javascript will not redirect to the page if I press return in the textbox. Using the alert function I can see that window.location.href has the the correct url and the location bar at the top changes from the search page(default.aspx) to the search results url however when I click OK to the alert box the url at the top reverts back to the default.aspx page. It works on ie7/8/firefox/chrome but not safari.
