Both SUN and JROCKIT 32 bit JDKs come bundled with "OS-specific Package installer", so no need to install the JDK in advance. There are three different ways of installing Oracle Weblogic Server: Graphical mode Console mode Silent mode For Windows: 1) Graphical mode:Installer: wls_<version>_win32.exe (E.g. wls1036_win32.exe)Steps to Install:1) Log in to the Windows system.2) Go to the directory that contains the installation program.3) Double-click the installation file.(wls1036_win32.exe)As soon as you double-click on the installation file you wold see the following screens: Once the installation preparation is complete you will see the welcome screen:  Click Next If there are existing Middleware Home Directories it will list all of them.   Hi, how do I pass a 2-dimensional array from javascript to ruby, please? I have this on client side: function send_data() { var testdata = { "1": { "name": "client_1", "note": "bigboy" }, "2": { "name": "client_2", "note": "smallboy" } } console.log(testdata); $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'test', dataType: 'json', data: testdata }); } and this on server side: post '/test' do p params end but I can't get it right. The best I could get on server side is something like {"1"=>"[object Object]", "2"=>"[object Object]"} I tried to add JSON.stringify on client side and JSON.parse on server side, but the first resulted in {"{\"1\":{\"name\":\"client_1\",\"note\":\"bigboy\"},\"2\":{\"name\":\"client_2\",\"note\":\"smallboy\"}}"=>nil} while the latter has thrown a TypeError - can't convert Hash into String. Could anyone help, or maybe post a short snippet of correct code, please? Thank you

• C# Win Forms Thread Pool - Unresponsive UI

  Scenario I have a Windows Form Application. Inside the main form there is a loop that iterates around 3000 times, Creating a new instance of a class on a new thread to perform some calculations. Baring in mind that this setup uses a Thread Pool, the UI does stay responsive when there are only around 100 iterations of this loop (100 Assets to process). But as soon as this number begins to increase heavily, the UI locks up into eggtimer mode and the thus the log that is writing out to the listbox on the form becomes unreadable. Question Am I right in thinking that the best way around this is to use a Background Worker? And is the UI locking up because even though I'm using lots of different threads (for speed), the UI itself is not on its own separate thread? Suggested Implementations greatly appreciated.

  For performance tests I need a way to measure the time needed for a form to load its definition from the DFM. All existing forms inherit a custom form class. To capture the current time, this base class needs overriden methods as "extension points": start of the deserialization process after the deserialization (can be implemented by overriding the Loaded procedure) the moment just before the execution of the OnFormCreate event So the log for TMyForm.Create(nil) could look like: - 00.000 instance created - 00.010 before deserialization - 01.823 after deserialization - 02.340 before OnFormCreate Which TObject (or TComponent) methods are best suited? Maybe there are other extension points in the form creation process, please feel free to make suggestions. Background: for some of our app forms which have a very basic structure (with some PageControls and QuantumGrids) I realized that it is not database access and other stuff in OnFormShow but the construction which took most of the time (around 2 seconds) which makes me wonder where this time is spent. As a reference object I will also build a mock form which has a similar structure but no code or datamodule connections and measure its creation time.

• Why is XCode Organizer console sometimes empty when I connect my iPhone

  When testing my iPhone app I have found it incredibly useful to log information to the console window. I think it is amazing that I can send out an adhoc build to my co-workers and if they experience problems I am able to plug their iPhone into my mac and grab their console output. However, sometimes the console window is blank when we do this. Why is this the case? The code has been built with logging enabled. Besides that, it seems that the console output, when I see it, contains information about not only my app, but other iphone system logging. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

I have looked at the first 50 top google links for this, and they seem to agree that doctest uses it's own copy of the stdout. If print is used it works if logger is used it logs to the root console. Can someone please demonstrate a working example with a code snippet that will allow me to combine. Note running nose to test doctest will just append the log output at the end of the test, (assuming you set the switches) it does not treat them as a print statement.

  Hi Guys, I am using a wrapper class A which initializes the java.util.logger static class A { public static Logger logger; public static void init(){ logger = Logger.getLogger("test"); } Now, everywhere in my program I call A.init() and then logger.log("Message+uniqid"). But recently I moved to HTTP servlets and I am having problems. Basically, If a app is already running and the logger is logging... and someone else runs the app again, the logger from the previous instance stops and starts logging for the second one. Can anyone have a solution to how I should go about fixing this static variable issue? I can pass the logger into all constructor classes but thats really tedious. Any better solution would be appreciated..

• The standards that fail us and the intellectual bubble

  There has been a great deal of noise in the techie community about standards, and a sudden and unexplainable hate for Flash. This noise isn't coming from consumers... the countless soccer moms, teens and your weird uncle Bob, it's coming from the people who build (or at least claim to build) the stuff those consumers consume. If you could survey the position of consumers on the topic, they'd likely tell you that they just want stuff on the Web to work.The noise goes something like this: Web standards are the correct and right thing to use across the Intertubes, and anything not a part of those standards (Flash) is bad. Furthermore, the more recent noise is centered around the idea that HTML 5, along with Javascript, is the right thing to use. The arguments against Flash are, well, the truth is I haven't seen a good argument. I see anecdotal nonsense about high CPU usage and things I'd never think to check when I'm watching Piano Cat on YouTube, but these aren't arguments to me. Sure, I've seen it crash a browser a few times, but it's totally rare.But let's go back to standards. Yes, standards have played an important role in establishing the ubiquity of the Web. The protocols themselves, TCP/IP and HTTP, have been critical. HTML, which has served us well for a very long time, established an incredible foundation. Javascript did an OK job, and thanks to clever programmers writing great frameworks like JQuery, is becoming more and more useful. CSS is awful (there, I said it, I feel SO much better), and I'll never understand why it's so disconnected and different from anything else. It doesn't help that it's so widely misinterpreted by different browsers. Still, there's no question that standards are a good thing, and they've been good for the Web, consumers and publishers alike.HTML 4 has been with us for more than a decade. In Web years, that might as well be 80. HTML 5, contrary to popular belief, is not a standard, and likely won't be for many years to come. In fact, the Web hasn't really evolved at all in terms of its standards. The tools that generate the standard markup and script have, but at the end of the day, we're still living with standards that are more than ten years old. The "official" standards process has failed us.The Web evolved anyway, and did not wait for standards bodies to decide what to do next. It evolved in part because Macromedia, then Adobe, kept evolving Flash. In the earlier days, it mostly just did obnoxious splash pages, but then it started doing animation, and then rich apps as they added form input. Eventually it found its killer app: video. Now more than 95% of browsers have Flash installed. Consumers are better for it.But I'll do it one better... I'll go out on a limb and say that Flash is a standard. If it's that pervasive, I don't care what you tell me, it's a standard. Just because a company owns it doesn't mean that it's evil or not a standard. And hey, it pains me to say that as a developer, because I think the dev tools are the suck (more on that in a minute). But again, consumers don't care. They don't even pay for Flash. The bottom line is that if I put something Flash based on the Internet, it's likely that my audience will see it.And what about the speed of standards owned by a company? Look no further than Silverlight. Silverlight 2 (which I consider the "real" start to the story) came out about a year and a half ago. Now version 4 is out, and it has come a very long way in its capabilities. If you believe Riastats.com, more than half of browsers have it now. It didn't have to wait for standards bodies and nerds drafting documents, it's out today. At this rate, Silverlight will be on version 6 or 7 by the time HTML 5 is a ratified standard.Back to the noise, one of the things that has continually disappointed me about this profession is the number of people who get stuck in an intellectual bubble, color it with dogmatic principles, and completely ignore the actual marketplace where this stuff all has to live. We aren't machines; Binary thinking that forces us to choose between "open standards" and "proprietary lock-in" (the most loaded b.s. FUD term evar) isn't smart at all. The truth is that the <object> tag has allowed us to build incredible stuff on top of the old standards, and consumers have benefitted greatly. Consumer desire, capitalism, and yes, standards ratified by nerds who think about this stuff for years have all played a role in the broad adoption of the Interwebs.We could all do without the noise. At the end of the day, I'm going to build stuff for the Web that's good for my users, and I'm not going to base my decisions on a techie bubble religion. Imagine what the brilliant minds behind the noise could do for the Web if they joined me in that pursuit.

• Amazon EC2 EBS automatic backup one-liner works manually but not from cron

  I am trying to implement an automatic backup system for my EBS on Amazon AWS. When I run this command as ec2-user: /opt/aws/bin/ec2-create-snapshot --region us-east-1 -K /home/ec2-user/pk.pem -C /home/ec2-user/cert.pem -d "vol-******** snapshot" vol-******** everything works fine. But if I add this line into /etc/crontab and restart the crond service: 15 12 * * * ec2-user /opt/aws/bin/ec2-create-snapshot --region us-east-1 -K /home/ec2-user/pk.pem -C /home/ec2-user/cert.pem -d "vol-******** snapshot" vol-******** that doesn't work. I checked var/log/cron and there is this line, therefore the command gets executed: Dec 13 12:15:01 ip-10-204-111-94 CROND[4201]: (ec2-user) CMD (/opt/aws/bin/ec2-create-snapshot --region us-east-1 -K /home/ec2-user/pk.pem -C /home/ec2-user/cert.pem -d "vol-******** snapshot" vol-******** ) Can you please help me to troubleshoot the problem? When I split it up into separate modules in a requirejs application, I do not seem to get a handle on the event object & it shows up as undefined (testing in firefox 29.0.1). I was able to take some of his time to get an interview on this thoughts about theMySQL Connect conference. Keith Larson: What where your thoughts when you heard that Oracle was going to provide the community the MySQL Conference ?Ronald Bradford: Oracle has already been providing various different local community events including OTN Tech Days and  MySQL community days. These are great for local regions both in the US and abroad.  In previous years there has been an increase of content at Oracle Open World, however that benefits the Oracle community far more then the MySQL community.  It is good to see that Oracle is realizing the benefit in providing a large scale dedicated event for the MySQL community that includes speakers from the MySQL development teams, invested companies in the ecosystem and other community evangelists.I fully expect a successful event and look forward to hopefully seeing MySQL Connect at the upcoming Brazil and Japan OOW conferences and perhaps an event on the East Coast.Keith Larson: Since you are part of the content committee, what did you think of the submissions that were received during call for papers?Ronald Bradford: There was a large number of quality submissions to the number of available presentation sessions. As with the previous years as a committee member for the annual MySQL conference, there is always a large variety of common cornerstone MySQL features as well as new products and upcoming companies sharing their MySQL experiences. All of the usual major players in the ecosystem will in presenting at MySQL Connect including Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Continuent, Percona, Tokutek, Sphinx and Amazon to name a few.  This is ensuring the event will have a large number of quality speakers and a difficult time in choosing what to attend. The first will include the techniques available for creating better indexes where I will be touching on some aspects of the first Effective MySQL book on Optimizing SQL Statements.  In my second presentation from experiences of managing 500+ AWS MySQL instances, I will be touching on areas including SQL tuning, backup and recovery and scale out with replication.   These are the key topics of the initial books in the Effective MySQL series that focus on performance, scalability and business continuity.  The books however cover a far greater amount of detail then can be presented in a 1 hour session. Keith Larson: What features of MySQL 5.6 do you look forward to the most ?Ronald Bradford: I am very impressed with the optimizer trace feature. The ability to see exposed information is invaluable not just for MySQL 5.6, but to also apply information discerned for optimizing SQL statements in earlier versions of MySQL.  Not everybody understands that it is easy to deploy a MySQL 5.6 slave into an existing topology running an older version if MySQL for evaluation of many new features.  You can use the new mysqlbinlog streaming feature for duplicating master binary logs on an older version with a MySQL 5.6 slave.  The improvements in instrumentation in the Performance Schema are exciting.   However, as with my upcoming Replication Techniques in Depth title, that will be available for sale at MySQL Connect, there are numerous replication features, some long overdue with provide significant management benefits. Crash Save Slaves, Global transaction Identifiers (GTID)  and checksums just to mention a few.Keith Larson: You have been to numerous conferences, what would you recommend for people at the conference? Ronald Bradford: Make the time to meet and introduce yourself to the speakers that cover the topics that most interest you. The MySQL ecosystem has a very strong community.  The relationships you build with presenters, developers and architects in MySQL can be invaluable, however they are created over time. Get to know these people, interact with them over time.  This is the opportunity to learn more then just the content from a 1 hour session. Keith Larson: Any additional tips to handling the long hours ? Ronald Bradford: Conferences can be hard, especially with all the post event drinking.  This is a two day event and I am sure will include additional events on Friday and Saturday night so come well prepared, and leave work behind. Take the time to learn something new.   You can always catchup on sleep later. • PDO and SQL IN statements

  Im using a sequel for search like this using PDOs $states = "'SC','SD'"; $sql = "select * from mytable where states in (:states)"; $params = array(':states'=>$states); and I use my function $result = $this->selectArrayAssoc($sql, $params); where my selectArrayAssoc function as following public function selectArrayAssoc($sql, $params = array()){ try{ $sth = $this->db->prepare($sql); $sth->execute($params); $result = $sth->setFetchMode(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); return $sth->fetchAll(); }catch(PDOException $e){ print $e->getMessage(); //Log this to a file later when in production exit; } } it does not take the quoted variables, I think it is suppressing, in such cases how to deal with this.

• Rails eager loading

  HI, I have a Test model, which has_many questions, and Question, which has_many answers... When I make a query for a Test with :include = [:questions, {:questions = :answers}] ActiveRecord makes two more queries to fetch the questions and then to fetch the answers - it doesn`t join them!!! When I do the query with :joins ActiveRecord makes the query, but later when I need the Test.questions or Test.questions.answers ActiveRecord makes again those 2 extra queries!!! And later when I enumerate the questions or answers in the log I see other queries for each object, but it has Cache tag... Is this normal?

• Making an Ajax request to a page method in ASP.NET MVC 2

  I'm trying to call a page method belonging to a MVC Controller from another site, by means of: $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: "http://localhost:54953/Home/ola", data: "", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(data) { console.log(data.Name); } }); the method code is as follows, really simple, just to test: public ActionResult ola() { return Json(new ActionInfo() { Name = "ola" },JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } I've seen this aproach being suggested here, and I actually like it a lot, should it work... When I run this, firebug gets a 200 OK, but the data received is null. I've tried a lot of different approaches, like having the data in text (wish grants me "(an empty string)" instead of just "null") or returning string in the server method... Can you tell me what am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance, João

• Cannot combine commits using TortoiseGit

  I have two branches with several commits each. On one branch, I can go to the log, select two commits, and TortoiseGit shows "combine to one commit" in the context menu. On the other branch this option does not show in the context menu. Both sequence of commits is very similar; add file then modify it, so there is no difference really between the branches. What factors would cause this "combine to one commit" to not be available? I'm wondering if I should just switch to the command line.

  Hello i have a login page so once the user enters the correct details he enters into the home page. Now i want to implement 3 things once he clicks the button 'log out' he must be redirected to a page saying" logged out successfully " n even if clicks the back button in the browser, he should not be able to access. if the user leaves the homepage idle for a specific amount of time say 10minutes and then he tries to navigate after 10 mins a msg should display saying "Your Session has been expired login again" if given the url of homepage he shouldnt be able to access unless logged in. I am not sure about what exactly i need to do and how to do. Plz Help Regards Indranil Mutsuddy
