I have some procedures to execute in the database that has an OUT REFCURSOR parameter.
When I am connecting with the JDBC thin client, everything works fine. However, if I were to change the connection string to refer to the ODBC data source pointing to the same database, those procedures will fail. The procedures that do not use an OUT REFCURSOR will still work fine though.
Is this situation the result of an error on my part or expected?
I'm creating a website using ASP.NET MVC 2 and I'm thinking of using the default AccountController and Views to take care of the Users.
The only problem is that, for all the rest, I'm using a Postgres database.
Is there a way to link The account controller to a User class defined by me?
I'm using Nhibernate to connect to the database, so I'll have a User class with whatever fields necessary.
Thanks very much.
Hi Guys,
In my iPhone app, I have many ASCII arts which I need to insert into the database.
I am using the simulator and pasting the textpic in the textview to insert the ASCII art to database.
Here the clipboard of simulator once pastes the art properly but when I copy another art then too it pastes the previous art into textview.
How to solve this problem?
Is there a work around for this or any better approach?
Please Help and Suggest
Thanks
Hi,
I am using the code from this tutorial to parse a CSV file and add the contents to a database table. How would I ignore the first line of the CSV file? The controller code is below:
def csv_import
@parsed_file=CSV::Reader.parse(params[:dump][:file])
n = 0
@parsed_file.each do |row|
s = Student.new
s.name = row[0]
s.cid = row[1]
s.year_id = find_year_id_from_year_title(row[2])
if s.save
n = n+1
GC.start if n%50==0
end
flash.now[:message] = "CSV Import Successful, #{n} new students added to the database."
end
redirect_to(students_url)
end
I am using JPA and I need to make the "tableName" a variable.
In a database, I have many tables, and my code needs to access the table where I specify it to read.
@Entity
@Table(name = "tableName")
public class Database implements Serializable {...............}
Any ideas?
For the warehouse work under progress, we have a single solution with multiple projects in it
OLTP Database Project
Warehouse Database Project
SSIS ETL project
After the SSIS project is built, I want to move the binaries (XML, really) from the Bin folder to "C:\AutomatedTasks\ETL.Warehouse\" and "C:\AutomatedTasks\ETL"
I cannot find the Post-Build events to do that for the SSIS project. Where are they? If they aren't available, how do I achieve this?
I have an existing web application using Castle Activerecord to interact with a single MySQL database. The Database has recently been reconfigured to replicate to a number of Slaves.
How do you configure Castle Activerecord to direct writes to the MySQL Master and reads to the MySQL Slaves?
Can anyone recommend a tutorial on how to write a java servlet which connects to ms sql server and manages data?
I'm trying to write something which pulls products out of one database and inserts them into a stored procedure located on another database.
thanks in advance
I have two servers - one Django, the other likely to be written in Python - and one is putting 'tasks' into a database and another is processing these tasks.
They share a database, but I want the processor to react quickly to new tasks rather than polling periodically.
Are there any straightforward ways for two Python servers to talk to one another, or does the task processor have to have web-hooks or something?
It feels there ought to be a blessed way to do this...
I am developing a Eclipse RCP plugin which uses JPA.
I tried to specify the database path via a variable give to the JVM on runtime.
The property is set correctly but the database is created in a folder named after the variable name (here: ${DBHOME}).
<property name="javax.persistence.jdbc.url" value="jdbc:derby:${DBHOME};create=true"/>
Is there a possibility to fix this?
Thx
I am building a django based application and its time to add the DHTML stuff.
One of my fields represent a database field with this format databaseName.tableName.fieldName
I would like to have javascript autocompletion in three levels, say once I type part of the database names I get a list of all matching databases, one that is selected I get a list of all tables, and once that is selected I get a list of all fields in that table, all in the same textfield.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

In my web application, I have a dynamic query that returns huge data to datatable, and this query is often recalled with different parameters. So database is exhausted.
I want to get all record with no parameters to an object, and perform queries (may be with linq) on this object. So database will not be exthausted.
Which objects can be used instead of datatable?
I have a field aliases of type java.util.Set in one Entity. This Set doesn't denote any relationship to an Entity.
Q1. How can I store this aliases field through JPA?
Q2. How this field get stored in database? I think that for the database, this field is a multi-valued attribute.

Hi ,
my doubt is the following, I have a network with 5 pcs, each machine has XP installed, I don't know much about distributed desktop applications, so what i want is to create a C# application using sql server 2005 database and visual studio 2008. I want that each pc can have access to create/update/delete data on the one XP machine that will store the database files. Do i need WServer2003 or any special network technology??
thanks in advance
We use SQL server 2008 as our RDBMS and we have a database that has a different user rather than dbo as its owner.
The problem is in one machine a stored procedure can not run unless its owner is mentioned.
If we connect to our database using this user and try to execute the following :
exec ourSP
we get a "could not find ourSP" error but this works fine:
exec user.ourSP
Does anybody knows what can lead to such a strange behavior?

I need to manage the trace files for a database on Sql Server 2005 Express Edition. The C2 audit logging is turned on for the database, and the files that it's creating are eating up a lot of space.
Can this be done from within Sql Server, or do I need to write a service to monitor these files and take the appropriate actions?
I found the [master].[sys].[trace] table with the trace file properties. Does anyone know the meaning of the fields in this table?
I have sql server script and i want to automatic run it on the database every week.

I am building a c# - linq - sql server winforms/asp.net application, accessing a database. I would like my business logic layer to be easily testable, and that means not littering it with Linq database queries everywhere. What design patterns/ best practices are available for the following use cases
- inserting/updating a new object
- searching for an object
- loading a bunch of related data into a sort of "presentation" object that could be displayed by various views ?
After creating an EF4 model from a SQL Server database I noticed that all the relationships of my Users table were not imported into the model as associations. All the other relationships were imported fine.
My Users table has a PK userId which is a char(7) field and it is integrated into several other tables in the database as an FK but for some reason EF4 does not import these relationships as associations during the model generation process...
Does anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?
I am developing a site where I am sending parameters like ids by url. I have used urlencode and base64encode to encode the parameters.
My problem is that how can I prevent the users or hackers to play with url paramenters Or give access only if the parameter value is exist in database?
I have at least 2 and at most 5 parameter in url so is this feasible to check every parameter is exist in database on every page?
Thanks
I need to find the path of the database (MDF) or at least the database logs loaded but for some reasons I cannot login through the MSSQL server so I need to know if you know any file/config file that keeps the path of the databases or log file .
