  • Best use of Jquery sliders and PHP

    - by Coronier
    Hello there, I have two questions: What's the best way to send sliders' values to a PHP page ? I'm associating each slider (several per page) with an hidden form so far, but I wonder if there's a "cleaner" way to do this. Related to the 1st question; I've some trouble with the script: var score = $(this).slider( "option", "value" ); $(this).closest("input[type=='hidden']").val(score); It doesn't set the value of the hidden input. Can somebody tells me what's wrong ? Thanks

  • Problems deleting cookies, won't unset (PHP).

    - by RemiX
    I've tried searching the php manual and internet on how to delete cookies and I've tried it the exact same way they all say: setcookie("name", '', 1); or setcookie("name", '', time()-3600); But when I check the cookies in the cookies dialog in Firefox, it's still there with the same value. I set this cookie using the following line: setcookie("name", $value, time() + 259200, $path); I found this question on stackoverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2497501/cookie-wont-unset, but none of the answers solved the problem. I also tried putting all paramaters in, like the author said, but it had no effect. Does anyone see the problem?

  • Is it possible to embed C code in a C# project?

    - by Jonathan
    I know that it's possible to compile my C code into a dll, and then use P/Invoke to call that code. What I wondered if it was possible to have a chunk of C code embedded directly in my code, perhaps only available to one class... Something like this (non-working) example: public class MyClass { extern "C" { int do_something_in_c(int i) { return i*2; } } public int DoSomething(int value) { return do_something_in_c(value); } } I've been trying for a few hours using Visual Studio 2008, but I'm not getting anywhere, and I suspect that it isn't actually possible. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks.

  • Parameter pack aware std::is_base_of()

    - by T. Carter
    Is there a possibility to have a static assertion whether a type provided as template argument implements all of the types listed in the parameter pack ie. a parameter pack aware std::is_base_of()? template <typename Type, typename... Requirements> class CommonBase { static_assert(is_base_of<Requirements..., Type>::value, "Invalid."); ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ parameter pack aware version of std::is_base_of() public: template <typename T> T* as() { static_assert(std::is_base_of<Requirements..., T>::value, "Invalid."); return reinterpret_cast<T*>(this); } };

  • Long list of if statements in Java

    - by steve
    Hi, Sorry I can't find a question answering this, I'm almost certain someone else has raised it before. My problem is that I'm writing some system libraries to run embedded devices. I have commands which can be sent to these devices over radio broadcasts. This can only be done by text. inside the system libraries I have a thread which handles the commands which looks like this if (value.equals("A") { doCommandA() } else if (value.equals"B") { doCommandB() } else if etc. The problem is that there are a lot of commands to it will quickly spiral to something out of control. Horrible to look out, painful to debug and mind boggling to understand in a few months time.

  • [Scala] Applying overloaded, typed methods on a collection

    - by stephanos
    I'm quite new to Scala and struggling with the following: I have database objects (type of BaseDoc) and value objects (type of BaseVO). Now there are multiple convert methods (all called 'convert') that take an instance of an object and convert it to the other type accordingly - like this: def convert(doc: ClickDoc): ClickVO = ... def convert(doc: PointDoc): PointVO = ... def convert(doc: WindowDoc): WindowVO = ... Now I sometimes need to convert a list of objects. How would I do this - I tried: def convert[D <: BaseDoc, V <: BaseVO](docs: List[D]):List[V] = docs match { case List() => List() case xs => xs.map(doc => convert(doc)) } Which results in 'overloaded method value convert with alternatives ...'. I tried to add manifest information to it, but couldn't make it work. I couldn't even create one method for each because it'd say that they have the same parameter type after type erasure (List). Ideas welcome!

  • How to get just free heap size (not together w stack/method mem) in Java?

    - by Pentium10
    I want to calculate the heap usage for my app. I would like to get a procent value of Heap size only. How do I get the value in code for the current running app? EDIT The upvoted answer is NOT complete/correct. The values returned by those methods include stack and method area too, and I need to monitor only heap size. With that code I got HeapError exception when I reached 43%, so I can't use those methods to monitor just heap.

  • setfsuid() and python 2.5.4

    - by user331398
    Hi, I'm trying to use setfsuid() with python 2.5.4 and RHEL 5.4. Since it's not included in the os module, I wrapped it in a C module of my own and installed it as a python extension module using distutils. However when I try to use it I don't get the expected result. setfsuid() returns value indicating success (changing from a superuser), but I can't access files to which only the newly set user should have user access (using open()), indicating that fsuid was not truely changed. I tried to verify setfsuid() worked, by running it consecutively twice with the same user input The result was as if nothing had changed, and on every call the returned value was of old user id different from the new one. I also called getpid() from the module, and from the python script, both returned the same id. so this is not the problem. Just in case it's significant, I should note that I'm doing all of this from within an Apache daemon process (WSGI). Anyone can provide an explanation to that? Thank you

  • Multiply with negative integer just by shifting.

    - by stex
    Hi, I'm trying to find a way to multiply an integer value with negative value just with bit shifting. Usually I do this by shifting with the power of 2 which is closest to my factor and just adding / subtracting the rest, e.g. x * 7 = ((x << 3) - x) Let's say I'd want to calculate x * -112. The only way I can imagine is -((x << 7) - (x << 4), so to calculate x * 112 and negate it afterwards. Is there a "prettier" way to do this?

  • ASP.net PreInit() Vs Init()

    - by ASP.netBeginner
    From local forum i understood that PreInit can be used to handle the following PreInit() >Master pages can be called dynamically >Themes can be set dynamically >Programatically add controls to controls collection and i read Init() is for Init() In this event, we can read the controls properties (set at design time). We cannot read control values changed by the user because that changed value will get loaded after LoadPostData() event fires. Question I am not getting the point "We cannot read control values changed by the user".Where do users change the value of control?.Example would help me to understand the point.

  • Stringly typed values table in sql, is there a better way to do this? (we're using MSSQL)

    - by Jason Hernandez
    We have have a table layout with property names in one table, and values in a second table, and items in a third. (Yes, we're re-implementing tables in SQL.) We join all three to get a value of a property for a specific item. Unfortunately the values can have multiple data types double, varchar, bit, etc. Currently the consensus is to stringly type all the values and store the type name in the column next to the value. tblValues DataTypeName nvarchar Is there a better, cleaner way to do this?

  • What is Registry Condition?

    - by serhio
    I have a setup project and I add some registry keys. Say I have a key ..\MyApplication\ServerIp key. When installing the second time I'd like that the ancient value will not be overridden. 1) What kind of "Condition" should I set in the setup properties of ServerIp registry key. 2) Is it possible to recuperate the ancient value from registry and display it in the "ServerIp" textBox in the installer dialog box? In this case the override could be unconditional.

  • Does this type of function or technique have a name?

    - by DHR
    HI there, I'm slightly new to programming, more of a hobby. I am wondering if a the following logic or technique has a specific name, or term. My current project has 7 check boxes, one for each day of the week. I needed an easy to save which boxes were checked. The following is the method to saved the checked boxes to a single number. Each checkbox gets a value that is double from the last check box. When I want to find out which boxes are checked, I work backwards, and see how many times I can divide the total value by the checkbox value. private int SetSelectedDays() { int selectedDays = 0; selectedDays += (dayMon.Checked) ? 1 : 0; selectedDays += (dayTue.Checked) ? 2 : 0; selectedDays += (dayWed.Checked) ? 4 : 0; selectedDays += (dayThu.Checked) ? 8 : 0; selectedDays += (dayFri.Checked) ? 16 : 0; selectedDays += (daySat.Checked) ? 32 : 0; selectedDays += (daySun.Checked) ? 64 : 0; return selectedDays; } private void SelectedDays(int n) { if ((n / 64 >= 1) & !(n / 64 >= 2)) { n -= 64; daySun.Checked = true; } if ((n / 32 >= 1) & !(n / 32 >= 2)) { n -= 32; daySat.Checked = true; } if ((n / 16 >= 1) & !(n / 16 >= 2)) { n -= 16; dayFri.Checked = true; } if ((n / 8 >= 1) & !(n / 8 >= 2)) { n -= 8; dayThu.Checked = true; } if ((n / 4 >= 1) & !(n / 4 >= 2)) { n -= 4; dayWed.Checked = true; } if ((n / 2 >= 1) & !(n / 2 >= 2)) { n -= 2; dayTue.Checked = true; } if ((n / 1 >= 1) & !(n / 1 >= 2)) { n -= 1; dayMon.Checked = true; } if (n > 0) { //log event } } The method works well for what I need it for, however, if you do see another way of doing this, or a better way to writing, I would be interested in your suggestions.

  • PHP Math issue with negatives [closed]

    - by user1269625
    Possible Duplicate: PHP negatives keep adding I have this code here.... $remaining = 0; foreach($array as $value=>$row){ $remaining = $remaining + $row['remainingbalance']; } What its doing is that it is going through all the remaining balances in the array which are -51.75 and -17.85 with the code above I get -69.60 which is correct. But I am wondering how when its two negatives if they could subtract? Is that possible? I tried this $remaining = 0; foreach($clientArrayInvoice as $value=>$row){ $remaining = $remaining + abs($row['remainingbalance']); } but it gives me 69.60 without the negative. Anyone got any ideas? my goal is to take -51.75 and -17.85 and come up with -33.90 only when its a negative to do subtract. otherwise add

  • Help with enums in Java

    - by devoured elysium
    Is it possible to have an enum change its value (from inside itself)? Maybe it's easier to understand what I mean with code: enum Rate { VeryBad(1), Bad(2), Average(3), Good(4), Excellent(5); private int rate; private Rate(int rate) { this.rate = rate; } public void increateRating() { //is it possible to make the enum variable increase? //this is, if right now this enum has as value Average, after calling this //method to have it change to Good? } } This is want I wanna achieve: Rate rate = Rate.Average; System.out.println(rate); //prints Average; rate.increaseRating(); System.out.println(rate); //prints Good Thanks

  • JQuery updating label

    - by Zaps
    Hi, I have 2 textboxes and a label on my page. The 2 textboxes will contain numeric values. The label text will be the product of the 2 textbox values. Is there a way to do this using JQuery so that the value can get updated without having to do a postback? Also the textboxes may contain values with commas in it: e.g. 10,000. Is there a way I can extract the number from this so that it can be used to calculate the label value. Thanks in advance, Zaps

  • Javascript: Inherit method from base class and return the subclass's private variable

    - by marisbest2
    I have the following BaseClass defined: function BaseClass (arg1,arg2,arg3) { //constructor code here then - var privateVar = 7500; this.getPrivateVar = function() { return privateVar; }; } I want to have the following subclass which allows changing privateVar like so: function SubClass (arg1,arg2,arg3,privateVar) { //constructor code here then - var privateVar = privateVar; } SubClass.prototype = new BaseClass(); Now I want SubClass to inherit the getPrivateVar method. However, when I try this, it always returns 7500 which is the value in the BaseClass and not the value of privateVar. In other words, is it possible to inherit a BaseClass's public methods but have any references in them refer to the SubClass's properties? And how would I do that?

  • Excel Interop: Fastest way to change color of portions of text in a huge range of cells

    - by Kyopaxa
    There some articles about the fastest way to write data using Excel interop assigning directly an Array of data to the value of the range. Like: string[,] multidimensionalArrayData = new string[200, 3]; // (...) Fill multidimensionalArrayData with your data dataSheet.Range["A1:C200"].Value = multidimensionalArrayData; There are also some articles about how to change the Font color of a specific portion of text, for example (VB this time): With ActiveCell.Characters(Start:=3, Length:=3).Font .Name = "Arial" .FontStyle = "Regular" .Size = 10 .Color = "Red" .ThemeFont = xlThemeFontNone End With The question now is, what would be the fastest way to change the color of specific portions of text for thousands of cells? Currently, in my C# code, I have to do it cell by cell, with a horrible performance hit. Is there a way to fill an array of 'Characters' objects in C# and pass that array to a range in one go? Any other solutions?

  • Ruby ActiveRecord + Mongrel going slow

    - by stel
    I have a class like this: class Router :: Mongrel::HttpHandler def process(req, res) status, header, body = [200, {"Content-type"="text/html"}, Model.all.to_xml] res.start(status) do |head, out| header.each_pair { |key, value| head[key] = value } out.write body end end end It's an server and I use an ActiveResource front end on the other side. Every 3rd request is very slow (about 5 seconds, 1st and 2nd is ok, about 0.01 sec). The problem in Model.all.to_xml (it is ActiveRecord - SQLite). Why it is too slow? It only happens when I use it in Mongrel::HttpHandler.. This 100.times do a = Time.now Car.all.to_xml puts "#{Time.now - a}" sleep(1) end is always works good.

  • Changing the context of a self-executing function

    - by TaylorMac
    This code is copied directly from: http://www.bennadel.com/blog/2264-Changing-The-Execution-Context-Of-Your-Self-Executing-Function-Blocks-In-JavaScript.htm // Set the singleton value to the return value of the self- // executing function block. var singleton = (function(){ // Declare a private variable. var message = "Stop playing with your context!"; this.getMessage = function(){ return( message ); }; // Return this object reference. return( this ); }).call( {} ); // alert the singleton message. alert( "Message:", singleton.getMessage()); ?My thought is that I can use this to better contain the variables and functions in my programs. However, when I try to run the code in a JSfiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/xSKHh/ It does not return the message. What am I missing?
