  I'm getting the following error when trying to deploy a ZIP file to a remote FTP server. I tried connecting to the server using an FTP client (filezilla) and all goes well. Also, when connecting to a public ftp like ftp.belnet.be connections work fine. I'm trying to send the file to a VSFTPD server behind a router using port forwarding. Again, this works fine from any location using Filezilla, phing is not connecting though...   I am trying to copy a file using the following code: File targetFile = new File(targetPath + File.separator + filename); ... targetFile.createNewFile(); fileInputStream = new FileInputStream(fileToCopy); fileOutputStream = new FileOutputStream(targetFile); byte[] buffer = new byte[64*1024]; int i = 0; while((i = fileInputStream.read(buffer)) != -1) { fileOutputStream.write(buffer, 0, i); } For some users the targetFile.createNewFile results in this exception: java.io.IOException: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect at java.io.WinNTFileSystem.createFileExclusively(Native Method) at java.io.File.createNewFile(File.java:850) Filename and directory name seem to be correct. The directory targetPath is even checked for existence before the copy code is executed and the filename looks like this: AB_timestamp.xml The user has write permissions to the targetPath and can copy the file without problems using the OS. As I don't have access to a machine this happens on yet and can't reproduce the problem on my own machine I turn to you for hints on the reason for this exception.

  I'm trying to wire together Guice (Java), Quartz scheduler and iBatis (iBaGuice) to do the following: Start command line utility-scanner using main() Periodically scan directory (provided as argument) for files containing formatted output (XML or YAML) When file is detected, parse and output result to the database The problems: I used this example to wire Guice and Quartz. However I'm missing some important details which I'm asking in the comments but the post is somewhat dated so I'm quoting it here also: It's not obvious how to set-up the scheduler. Where and how would I wire the Trigger (I can use Trigger#makeMinutelyTrigger)? I really have just one type of job I will be executing, I understand that details in the JobFactory#newJob are coming from the TriggerFiredBundle parameter but where/how do I wire that? And where/how do I create or wire concrete Job?

  Hi, I can't figure out a way to bind several arguments and headers to one request parameter using annotations in Spring 3. For example, let's say I'm getting this request: Headers: Content-type: text/plain; POST Body: Name: Max Now I want it all to mysteriously bind to this object: class NameInfo { String name; } Using some code like this: String getName() { if ("text/plain".equals(headers.get("content-type"))) { return body.get("name"); } else if ("xml".equals(headers.get("content-type")) { return parseXml(body).get("name"); } else ... } So that in the end I would be able to use: @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.POST) void processName(@RequestAttribute NameInfo name) { ... } Is there a way to achieve something similar to what I need? • How to have onSearchRequested not open a web browser.

  I have a button in my app. When it is pressed I call the onSearchRequested() method. When this is called the stock search box comes up so the user can type some junk in there. When they press "Go" I need the results returned back to my application but instead the stock browser is opened and a google search is performed. How can I tell it to return the results to my application instead.   Hello, This is my messages_en_US.properties file in WEB-INF/classes folder :- Login=Login And then i created messages_fr_FR.properties :- Login=frenchLogin Then in my JSF page i wrote this :- <f:loadBundle basename="messages" var="msg"/> <h:commandButton id="btnLogin" value="#{msg.Login}" actionListener="#{IndexBean.doLogin}"/> I can correctly see the Login text by default. But when i go in firefox and change my default language to fr-fr, my text still remains the same i.e i can't see frenchLogin. I don't have anything in my faces-config.xml What am i doing wrong?   Trying to digest docs about design Multiple resolutions (http://d.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html#dips-pels) I found that it is possible to set dimensions of my interface elements in XML layouts using DIPs as in following fragment : "android:layout_width="10dip" But all Java interface takes integer as arguments and there is no way to specify dimensions in DIPs. What is the correct way to calculate this ? I figured that I have to use property density of DisplayMetrics class but is this a correct way ? May I relly that formula : pixels * DisplayMetrics.density = dip is always correct ? Will there be API in DIPs for Java ?

• NDepend: How to not display 'tier' assemblies in dependency graph?

  I was able to do this in an earlier version of nDepend by going to tools-options and setting which assemblies would be part of the analysis (and ignore the rest). The latest version of the trial version of nDepend lets me set it, but it seems to ignore the setting and always analyze all assemblies whether I want it to or not. I tried to delete the "tier" assemblies by moving them over to the "application assemblies" list, but when I delete them out of there, they just get added back to the "tier" list, which I can't ignore. I don't want my dependency graph to contain assemblies like "system," "system.xml," and "system.serialization!" I want only MY assemblies in the dependency graph! Or is that a paid-version feature now? Is there a way to do what I'm talking about?

• Is there a Java API for creating a XHTML document?

  I want to provide a simple XHTML representation of each of the resources in a REST web service. At the moment i'm using a StringBuilder to generate these which is both tedious and error prone. I don't see these changing after I publish the service but the process of coding each is a bit painful. Is there a XHTML document writer api? Should I just use an XML writer? Which one? Should I just roll my own basic HTML document class - doctype is the same each time, i just need to set the title, metatags and body content, most of which (but not all content) is already in HTML for the GETs. Or should I just use StringBuilder and stop whining? ;) Thanks.

• Using IvyDE with different workspaces on different branches

  I am having problems using IvyDE when I have different workspaces for different branches. I have "Resolve dependencies in workspace" switched on. But everytime I change to a different workspace I have to remember to manually clean the caches out. This is because IvyDE always uses the default cache for resolving dependencies within a workspace, so when switching between workspaces the cache can be polluted by different versions. It would seem that it is impossible to work with two different workspaces at the same time. I cannot find a way to configure the location that IvyDE uses to cache the project dependencies. It does not appear to use the caches defined in the ivysettings.xml

  I have some special parameters to all my wcf service methods that are handled inside a custom channel and are not exposed in the service method parameter list. This works fine for json/xml endpoints, but the I don't know how to use a SOAP endpoint with this setup because the generated WSDL doesn't include fields that are not in the service call parameter list. Is there a way I can centralize the handling of the special parameters that apply to all service methods (authentication, locale and other contextual information) and provide a SOAP endpoint that Just Works (tm)? Hand editing wsdl files is not an option.

• Alright to truncate database tables when also using Hibernate?

  Is it OK to truncate tables while at the same time using Hibernate to insert data? We parse a big XML file with many relationships into Hibernate POJO's and persist to the DB. We are now planning on purging existing data at certain points in time by truncating the tables. Is this OK? It seems to work fine. We don't use Hibernate's second level cache. One thing I did notice, which is fine, is that when inserting we generate primary keys using Hibernate's @GeneratedValue where Hibernate just uses a key value one greater than the highest value in the table - and even though we are truncating the tables, Hibernate remembers the prior value and uses prior value + 1 as opposed to starting over at 1. This is fine, just unexpected. Note that the reason we do truncate as opposed to calling delete() on the Hibernate POJO's is for speed. We have gazillions of rows of data, and truncate is just so much faster.

  These days I tried to apply a free third pary CA ( www.cacert.org & www.freeca.cn ) and then set up Tomcat SSL with the CA. My purpose is to eliminate the "Certificate Error" page when accessing https://... from a client browser. But it's a little hard for me to get around it. My steps to apply a free CA, from www.freeca.cn I used keytool to generate a cer file with command: keytool -genkey ... // Generate a key keytool -certreq ... // Generate a cert file and then I got some code from the cert file, and paste onto www.freeca.cn to generate a cer file. Then I imported the cer file keytool -import -alias abc -file MyABC.cer -keystore mykeystorefile.store And then I set up the mykeystorefile.store into tomcat /conf/server.xml, but it didn't work, sill pop "Certificate Error" page when trying to access https://.... Can someone help me? Thanks

  Hello! we are tying to port a J2EE app from OAS 9.0.4 (working perfectly) on OAS 10.1.3.5 the reson we do that is because we need the app compiled with java 1.5 and OAS 10.1.3.5 would be the single major version supporting that binaries which has oc4j/orion kernel. The issue is that the security constraints in matter of user/group/role are not read by the app server, and instead of asking for these sets of users, i have to use the oc4jadmin instead the selected users for auth. All xml files needed for describing these sets of rules are being checked with the OAS book, and it seems they are correctly filled in... anybody has an idea about this?

  Do we have to explicitly manage database resources when using Spring Framework.. liking closing all open connections etc? I have read that Spring relieves developer from such boiler plate coding...
