• How to display panel which is of Singleton class in two different frames at a time?

  I am trying to display a singleton obj on two different Jframe, but it is displayed only in the Jframe in which the object is added at last ( in example Frame2). Other Jframe is empty. This Singleton class is inherited from Panel and contains a label in it. • In which year was the date the same as the original year?

  It's my first question on this site, but I always found this site really useful. What I mean with my question is: you ask the person to give a date (eg. Fill in a date [dd-mm-yyyy]: 16-10-2013) you than have to ask an interval between 2 years (eg. Give an interval [yyyy-yyyy]:1800-2000) When the program runs, it has to show what day of the week the given date is. In this case it was a Wednesday. Than the program has to look in which year, in between the interval, the date 16 October also fell on a Wednesday. So in the end it has to look something like this: Fill in a date: [dd-mm-yyyy]: 16-10-2013 Give an interval [yyyy-yyyy]: 1900-2000 16 October was a wednesday in the following years: 1905 1911 1916 1922 1933 1939 1944 1950 1961 1967 1972 1978 1989 1995 2000 The full date is Wednesday 16 October, 2013 The small (or biggest) problem is, I am not allowed to use the DATE.function in java. If this is false, let me know, it seems like the most obvious and simple route to take. I know I can add a validation function to the dependency property but I assume that it shouldnt be used for this? I need to communicate the change to legacy systems that cannot yet be bound in XAML. Whats the best way to approach this problem?

• problem with kCFSocketReadCallBack

  Hello. I have a problem with my program. I created a socket with "kCFSocketReadCallBack. My intention was to call the "acceptCallback" only when it receives a string to the socket. Instead my program does not just accept the connection always goes into "startReceive" stop doing so and sometimes crash the program. Can anybody help? • Flash compiler error 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method run... but run exists!

  So I've been working on making a game in Processing but I think Flash would be a better way to get more people playing it, so I've decided to learn Flash. The problem is that I keep getting really stupid errors on incredibly simple things. For instance, I want to make a 'Block' object to use in a platform game. So I make a new .as file, name it Block.as, and define the Block class within it like so: package { public class Block { public function Block() { // constructor code } public function run() { } } } I don't want to add the code yet, I just want to ensure that this works. So in my main timeline code, I try to create an instance of the Block object and execute its run method: var block1:Block = new Block(); block1.run(); Every time it gives me this inane error: Scene 1, Layer 'Layer 1', Frame 1, Line 2 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method run through a reference with static type Block. What undefined method!? It's defined RIGHT THERE in Block.as. The class file is even in the same folder and everything. I'm getting REALLY annoyed at how poorly Flash handles such a ridiculously simple project. Does anyone know why Flash hates me?

• Inconsistent GWT behavior in IE 8

  All, I have a web site that's built with GWT at https://penwag.com/penwag/. If you just hit the site and see the main page, there's supposed to be a login/registration area that displays, along with a teaser for the site. I've tried the site with most of the main browsers - FF 3 & 3.5, IE 6 & 8, Safari, and Chrome, and all appears well to me. However, I have a non-geek user that has visited the site from both work and home. The work computer can see the intro page fine, but the home computer shows only the static content, and non of the javascript-based portion, that is the login/registration and teaser. Both computers are using IE 8. He checked the computer where the site fails, and scripting is enabled. Can anyone else see the problem? (You don't have to register to see the problem, just hit the main page.) Anything else I should check or have him try? Thanks! Edit: The site is implemented using GWT 1.7.0. I'll have to find out about the OS versions. Edit: The one that works is running Windows XT, the failing one is running Windows Vista. (There's a shocker!) I myself have viewed it successfully with both OSs. Edit: I've since completely re-structured the site, and documented the changes here: http://penwag.blogspot.com/2010/04/april-penwag-update.html So, the site is no longer the same as when I asked this question.

The file.createNewFile(); creates the temp.htm file outside the .jar file So when editorPane.setPage(Program.class.getResource("temp.htm")); is called the file is not found as it searches for file inside the test package. How to setPage() the temp.htm file whiich is outside the .jar file but in the same folder as the .jar file? As the temp.htm is a localfile and I want a relative path instead of an absolute path.   Right now I have a function which takes my uploaded file, checks the extension, and if it matches an array of valid extensions it's processed. It's a contact list importer. What I need to figure out is how to be sure that file (in this case a .csv) is actually what it says it is (ex. not an excel file that just got renamed as a .csv). • Does running IIS7 in classic mode affect MVC output caching?

  I have a need to run an application in classic mode for backwards compatibility with a specific application, and am trying to understand what kind of impact that will have on the performance of an MVC application that is running on the site. If we put a few static file maps (for .js, .css, .png, etc) above the ASP.NET wildcard map to reduce the amount of processing by the ASP.NET handler, will we be approaching the integrated mode in terms of performance? The thing i'm primarily concerned with is any effect this might have on output caching. I understand that integrated mode might (?) allow for the output cache to handle non ASP.NET content, but that isn't really a concern. We're more interested in ensuring that the MVC application has full use of the output cache. Empirically i've found that the two configurations operate on par when things go well, but if the page references resources that are not available, the integrated mode tends to fail much more quickly than the classic mode (e.g. 500 ms vs 10 seconds), reducing 'hang time' on the page load. Now I want to access theses values not by a collection, because I cannot remember all the values, let's say for the name. So this is not what I want: Values.Where(v = v.Name == "Currency").Select(v = v.KeyId); The table content changes rarely but still it is not a nice solution having a struct with all "Names" and getting the KeyId like this. struct Values { public static int Currency { get { return GetKeyId("Currency"); } } } I'm looking for a solution that creates me automatically properties out of this table. So that I can access the KeyId with intellisense. As you have for Resources in ASP.NET. There the class is automatically updated as soon as you add a new entry in the RESX file.   I am having a table which has three fields, namely LM_code,M_Name,Desc. LC_code is a autogenerated string Id, keeping this i am updating M_Name and Desc. I used normal update command, the value is passing in runtime but the fields are not getting updated. I hope using oledb parameters the fileds can be updated. Any help will be appreciated... • Load Testing Java Web Application - find TPS / Avg transaction response time

  I would like to build my own load testing tool in Java with the goal of being able to load test a web application I am building throughout the development cycle. The web application will be receiving server to server HTTP Post requests and I would like to find its starting transaction per second (TPS) capacity along with the avgerage response time. The Post request and response messages will be in XML (I dont' think that's really applicable though :) ). I have written a very simple Java app to send transactions and count how many transactions it was able to send in one second (1000 ms) however I don't think this is the best way to load test. Really what I want is to send any number of transactions at exactly the same time - i.e. 10, 50, 100 etc. Any help would be appreciated!   i'm currently working on a android project where i need to encrypt a string using 128 bit AES, padding PKCS7 and CBC. I don't want to use any salt for this. I've tried loads of different variations including PBEKey but i can't come up with working code. • On XP, how do I get the tooltip to appear above a transclucent form?

  I have an form with an Opacity less then 1.0. I have a tooltip associated with a label on the form. When I hover the mouse over the label, the tooltip shows up under the form instead of over the form. If I leave the Opacity at its default value of 1.0, the tooltip correctly appears over the form. However, my form is obviously no longer translucent. ;-) I have tried manually adjusting the position of the ToolTip with SetWindowPos() and creating a ToolTip "by hand" using CreateWindowEx(), but the problem remains. This makes me suspect its a Win32 API problem, not a problem with the Windows Forms implementation that runs on top of Win32. Why does the tooltip appear under the form, and, more importantly, how can I get it to appear over the form where it should? Edit: this appears to be an XP-only problem. Vista and Windows 7 work correctly. I'd still like to find a workaround to get the tooltip to appear above the form on XP. • ADO.NET: Can't connect to mdf database file

  I'm writing an application that uses a SQL Server 2005 database. In the connection string i'm specifying the mdf file like this: connstr = @"Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS; AttachDbFilename=" + fileLocation + "; Integrated Security=True; User Instance=True"; When i execute the code: public static void forceConnection() { try { conn = new SqlConnection(connstr); conn.Open(); } catch (Exception e) { MessageBox.Show(e.Message, "Erro", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Error); } finally { if(conn != null) conn.Close(); } } I receive an exception: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) This code works on XP but not in Vista.. I tryed run Visual Studio in admin mode and moved the mdf file to "user data" folders but the error persists.. Any help? Thanks!

• Entity Framework LINQ Query using Custom C# Class Method - Once yes, once no - because executing on the client or in SQL?

  I have two Entity Framework 4 Linq queries I wrote that make use of a custom class method, one works and one does not: The custom method is: public static DateTime GetLastReadToDate(string fbaUsername, Discussion discussion) { return (discussion.DiscussionUserReads.Where(dur => dur.User.aspnet_User.UserName == fbaUsername).FirstOrDefault() ?? new DiscussionUserRead { ReadToDate = DateTime.Now.AddYears(-99) }).ReadToDate; } The linq query that works calls a from after a from, the equivalent of SelectMany(): from g in oc.Users.Where(u => u.aspnet_User.UserName == fbaUsername).First().Groups from d in g.Discussions select new { UnReadPostCount = d.Posts.Where(p => p.CreatedDate > DiscussionRepository.GetLastReadToDate(fbaUsername, p.Discussion)).Count() }; The query that does not work is more like a regular select: from d in oc.Discussions where d.Group.Name == "Student" select new { UnReadPostCount = d.Posts.Where(p => p.CreatedDate > DiscussionRepository.GetLastReadToDate(fbaUsername, p.Discussion)).Count(), }; The error I get is: LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.DateTime GetLastReadToDate(System.String, Discussion)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression. My question is, why am I able to use my custom GetLastReadToDate() method in the first query and not the second? I suppose this has something to do with what gets executed on the db server and what gets executed on the client? These queries seem to use the GetLastReadToDate() method so similarly though, I'm wondering why would work for the first and not the second, and most importantly if there's a way to factor common query syntax like what's in the GetLastReadToDate() method into a separate location to be reused in several different places LINQ queries. Please note all these queries are sharing the same object context.

But I need a ListView or other ItemsControl to bind to it in XAML file like this: But I can't figure it out how to pass the ObservableCollection to the ItemsSource of that control. I tried to create a class and then create an instance of a class in xaml file but it did not work. Should I create a static resource somehow Any help will be greatly appreciated.

• How to make a program not show up in Alt-Tab or on the taskbar.

  I have a program that needs to sit in the background and when a user connects to a RDP session it will do some stuff then launch a program. when the program is closed it will do some housekeeping and logoff the session. The current way I am doing it is like this I have the terminal server launch this application. I have it set as a windows forms application and my code is this public static void Main() { //Do some setup work Process proc = new Process(); //setup the process proc.Start(); proc.WaitForExit(); //Do some housecleaning NativeMethods.ExitWindowsEx(0, 0); } I really like this because there is no item in the taskbar and there is nothing showing up in alt-tab. However to do this I gave up access to functions like void WndProc(ref Message m) So Now I can't listen to windows messages (Like WTS_REMOTE_DISCONNECT or WTS_SESSION_LOGOFF) and do not have a handle to use for for bool WTSRegisterSessionNotification(IntPtr hWnd, int dwFlags); I would like my code to be more robust so it will do the housecleaning if the user logs off or disconnects from the session before he closes the program. Any reccomendations on how I can have my cake and eat it too?
