• Vmstat indicates memory is disappearing

  I wanted to profile the memory usage of a script. Here's the output before it was running: procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- -system-- ----cpu---- r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa 0 0 15624 186660 39460 439052 0 0 0 2 1 1 0 0 100 0 Here's the output while the script is running, at the point where free memory was at its lowest value: procs -----------memory---------- ---swap-- -----io---- -system-- ----cpu---- r b swpd free buff cache si so bi bo in cs us sy id wa 0 0 15624 11464 40312 473524 0 0 0 2 1 1 0 0 100 0 So free memory dropped by about 175 MB, and I expected that buff would increase by that amount. But it seems the other columns changed by relatively negligible amounts - how is this possible? Am I interpreting this wrong, or is some memory just not being accounted for in this output?

  Problem: When printing a report in CRM, I am asked by the UAC for admin credentials. There is a long URL: https://(crm_hostname)/reserved.ReportViewerWebcontrol.axd?ReportSession=(ID)ControlID=(ID)Culture=1333&UICulture=1033&ReportStack=1&OpType=PrintCab Info: There are three users that have the issue laied out here. They are not admins of any kind. It looks like it is asking for permission to allow SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 to run. When I put my credentials in, it just brings up the Print dialog box (this is fine, just stop asking for credentials). I know this might sound silly but I downloaded and installed "SQL Server Reporting Services 2008" hopping my credentials would give permission right from the beginning. Giving the users local admin, I was told is not an option. Note: I did post this on community (dot) dynamics (dot) com but, they are not a very active website. Thanks for any help even if it just points me in the right direction!

  I have setup Postfix and Dovecot on an Ubuntu box following the instructions http://www.exratione.com/2012/05/a-mailserver-on-ubuntu-1204-postfix-dovecot-mysql/ I can see that email is being delivered to and accepted by the server, but the email is not available for retrieval via POP3. What could be missing in my configuraton? It seems that email is not being properly handed off to Dovecot. • Move samba and ldap config to new machine

  I'm not advanced administrator so this may be n00b question but I'll be grateful for help. I have following problem: I have to move my server (ubuntu server) from old machine to new. I have samba & ldap on old server, so I've copied the configuration files from the old machine to new machine, made smbldap-populate, and when I use smbldap-userlist on the new machine it lists all users from the old machine. But when I try to log in as any of these users, or show its id (id username) I get no such user error. What more I have to do to use these accounts on the new machnie?

I do not want to use VBA, I was successful in sequencing the protection steps, but now can not repeat the process. • PowerPoint slide resolution? (Optimizing video playback)

  In PowerPoint 2007, there seems to be no way of changing the resolution slide (only the aspect ratio and the output resolution can be chnaged?). If this is the case, then how do I optimize an inserted video for playback using an HD projector? Can I simply insert a video at high resolution and scale it down to fit the slide? Will these extra pixels come to use if the output resolution is high? Thanks!

• Getting an boot error when starting computer

  I was in the middle of watching a movie on Netflix, then suddenly everything started crashing. First, explorer.exe closed down, then Google chrome. I had multiple things running in the background (Steam, Raptr, etc.). Individuality, each of those apps closed down also. When they did, a small dialog box popped up for each of them, one at a time, saying that it was missing a file, it couldn't run anymore, or something similar to that. It also had some jumbled up "code" with numbers and letters that I couldn't read. Ever since then, everytime I turn my computer on, it will run for a few seconds and give this error "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key_". No matter how many times I try to reboot it, it always gives me the same error. A day later after this happened I was able to start the computer, but before it booted, it told me that I didn't shut down the computer properly and asked how I wanted to run the OS (Run Windows in Safety Mode, Run Windows Normally, etc.). Once I logged, everything went SUPER slow and everything crashed almost instantly. The only thing I opened was Microsoft Security Essentials and only got in about two clicks before it was "Not Responding". Then, after that the whole computer froze and I had to restart it. Now, it's back to saying what it originally said, "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key_". I built this PC back in February 2012. Here are the specs: OS: Windows 7 Ultimate CPU: AMD 8-core GPU: Nvidia GTX Force 560 Ti RAM: 16GB Hard Drive: Hitachi Deskstar 750GB I'm usually very good taking care of my PC. I don't download anything that's not from a trusted site or source. I don't open up any spam email or such or go to any harmful websites like porn or stream movies. I am very clean with the things I do with my PC and don't do many DIFFERENT things with it. I use it pretty often especially for video games and doing homework in Eclipse. Also, good to note that I don't have any Norton or antisoftware installed. I have Microsoft Security Essentials installed but never did a scan. Thanks!

• How to disable System service from listening on port 80 in Windows Server 2003

  I'm trying to install a service on a Windows Server 2003 machine which is supposed to listen on port 80 but it fails to start because some other service is already listening on that port. So far I've disabled the IIS Admin service and the HTTP SSL service but no luck. When I run netstat -a -n -o | findstr 0.0:80 it gives me the process id 4 as the culprit, but when I look at the running processes that process id points to the "System" process. What can I do to get the System process to stop listening on port 80 and get my service to listen instead?

• What RSS Reader can handle item-updating (JIRA search) feeds?

  Thunderbird is a good rss reader in terms of being able to connect successfully to jira authenticated search feeds (where evolution-rss and Liferea can't), but really sucks when it comes to updating. A Jira search feed will give a link id to http://jira/browse/[ticket no], and if that ticket/feed-item is updated, thunderbird refuses to update it - it already has it! (even though the item date does not match). Also, if you delete the ticket update, it will never show up again for that news account. Has anybody found an RSS reader that can work with JIRA/updating RSS items?   I have an Alienware computer with one of the optical DVD drives that does not have a manual tray, just a slot to insert the disk. I recently inserted a disk that was apparently bad. It is unreadable does not show up in Windows Explorer. I tried right clicking on the Drive letter and hitting eject, but get an error message that there is no disk in the drive. How do I get the d--ned disk out so I can use the drive?

• How to add a Mac to Windows Active Directory

  I've gone into the Directory Utility on the mac, clicked on the services tab, entered the Active Directory Domain and Computer ID, clicked the Bind button and it showed a little status label which flickered through 5 of 5 steps and then said "An unknown error occurred". If I ignore the error and just click the OK button further down the screen and make sure the Active Directory service is ticked in the list of services, then go to the Directory Servers tab and try to add an Active Directory by entering my ad domain, computer id, admin username and password I get an error "Unable to add the domain. An unexpected error of type -14090 (eDSAuthFailed) occurred." Any ideas?

That SSL renegotiation is allowed?
