  • Struts 1 - problem in showing ActionMessages through a JSP page

    I am using Struts 1.3.10. I am trying to display ActionMessage and ActionError set by Action class through a JSP page. The problem is that the ActionErrors are displaying well but ActionMessages are not displaying. When I debug the application, I found that the messages (reference variable of ActionMessages) contains messages. I also saved those messages through saveMessages(request, messages) method of Action class. So, I think that the problem is in the JSP code through which I am trying to display those messages.   • JSON is not nested in rails view

    I have a several models in a heirarchy, 1:many at each level. Each class is associated only with the class above it and the one below it, ie: L1 course, L2 unit, L3 unit layout, L4 layout fields, L5 table fields (not in code, but a sibling of layout fields) I am trying to build a JSON response of the entire hierarchy. def show @course = Course.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| format.html # show.html.erb format.json do @course = Course.find(params[:id]) @units = @course.units.all @unit_layouts = UnitLayout.where(:unit_id => @units) @layout_fields = LayoutField.where(:unit_layout_id => @unit_layouts) response = {:course => @course, :units => @units, :unit_layouts => @unit_layouts, :layout_fields => @layout_fields} respond_to do |format| format.json {render :json => response } end end end end The code is bring back the correct values, but the units, unit_layouts and layout_fields are all nested at the same level under course. I would like them to be nested inside their parent.

  • Why won't my images align properly?

    I'm trying to make a dynamically sizable title banner, using fairly simple image tricks. I place the banner image in a table cell, and set the background-image of the table row to a one-pixel-wide repeat of the banner's right-most pixel column. Thus, the banner image appears to stretch to fit the screen width without stretching the logo. The code below is my entire page so far, and the problem is shown in a red circle in the screenshot. This is the transition where the main image ends and the one-pixel-wide background image begins. It appears that the one-pixel-wide bar at the end is compressed by one pixel - making the tops align properly, while the bottoms are one pixel off. I should add that I have checked the images more than once to make cure they the image data is correct.   • why is link generated in YUI javascript failing to render in rails?

    Using YAHOO.widget.treeview to generate a table with three levels of data: module, submodule, and detail. If there is an image associated with a detail row the javascript generates a link: "<td><a href=\"/screenshot/show/" + rowData.id + "\">Screenshot</a></td>" that is appended to the html for the row. The url is generated correctly and the link appears. When clicked nothing happens except the word 'Done' appears in the browser status bar. Am calling the very same url from another page that does not use javascript and the screenshot page appears as expected. If i press button in initial page which redirects to another page, OnDeviceReady function is never called. Anybody has any ideas?

Currently, I get the following error, which makes sense. [error] found : Seq[scala.xml.Node] [error] required: scala.xml.Node [error] Elem(prefix, "html", attribs, scope, child) I'm not wedded to this either, so if there's a better way to simply change the element name of a specific node, let's here it...     I am a little bit puzzled about something. I am creating a ASP.NET MVC eCommerce application and currently I have written all the back end in ASP.NET MVC. I was thinking if its better to write all the management in WPF instead of HTML, as its probably even less prone to be exploited by hackers. I am a Windows user so I am not really bothered about using Linux/Mac at the moment so I am quite aware that having all the back-end written in HTML will allow users to have access to the admin area using other OS. I would like to see what are the advantages and disadvantages of having WPF to manage the content of the website as its probably much easier to develop and manage (think about Live Writer).

    I'm trying to create a perma link for a nested attribute. For example, look at the links for the answers in SO. I would like to do something similar in rails: I have Project model with multiple tasks and I would like to create a perma link to a task. The task can only viewed with the project, just like Q & A on SO. Ideally, i would do something like: task_helper.rb: def GetTaskURL project = Project.find(:project_id) return project_url(project,:html) + "#" + id end However, i get a method not found. So it seems the only way is to hard-code it: domain.com url + Projects/show/id.html#task.id Must be a better way?

  • Weird behavior in referring to global variable. Is this a bug in javascript? Surely it isn't!

    Consider the following piece of code. <html> <body> <script> var x = 5; //globally declared function showX() { alert("x="+x); //trying to display global value var x=10; //trying to create and initialize a local x } </script> <input type = "button" value="Show X" onclick="showX()"> </body> </html> The alert statement shows 'x=undefined'. And doesn't print the global value of x as expected. An equivalent java code would display 5! So, is it a bug? If not then how does one explain that behavior?

  • PHP speed optimisation.

    Hi, Im wondering about speed optimization in PHP. I have a series of files that are requested every page load. On average there are 20 files. Each file must be read an parsed if they have changed. And this is excluding that standard files required for a web page (HTML, CSS, images, etc). EG - client requests page - server outputs html, css, images - server outputs dynamic content (20+/- files combined and minified). What would be the best way to serve these files as fast as possible?

    I need for html file/ ajax code to take the JSON message and store the PATHS as a javaScript array. Then my buildImage function can display the first image in the array. I'm new to AJAX and believe my misunderstanding lies within the converting of the JSON to Javascript. I'm confused also about if my code creates a JSON array or object or either. I might need also to download a library to my app to understand JSON? Below is a PHP file loading the paths of the images.     When I place an image followed by text in a table cell, the vertical alignment of the text shifts down compared to text in adjacent cells. I tried using a line-height CSS property, but it didn't seem to have an affect. In the following example, I need "123 Description" to be flush with "cell one." Also, there is a space between the image and "123" by default.   • App Engine - Save response from an API in the data store as file (blob)

    Hi there, I'm banging my head against the wall with this one: What I want to do is store a file that is returned from an API in the data store as a blob. Here is the code that I use on my local machine (which of course works due to an existing file system): client.convertHtml(html, open('html.pdf', 'wb')) Since I cannot write to a file on App Engine I tried several ways to store the response, without success. Any hints on how to do this? I was trying to do it with StringIO and managed to store the response but then weren't able to store it as a blob in the data store. Thanks, Chris

    I've spent hours scouring the net for anything to do with VBA calling data from the web in excel and nothing provides a tutorial on how to do so, only complicated examples un-related to what I want to do. I want to pull data from either a .html or .xml site, doesn't matter, via Excel and find specific points in that data. I can find specific points but don't know how to get the data or scroll through multiple lines. I've done this exact sort of thing in mIRC (sort of C code). http://eve-central.com/home/quicklook.html?typeid=438 http://api.eve-central.com/api/quicklook?typeid=438 Those are two examples, using roughly the same data I'd like to retrieve. It'd be FAR more specific with at most 100 or so different values. I'd like to be TAUGHT how to do it, not given the code to do it, or if you must explain each part with comments in-depth please. I think this is what is causing the problem but it doesnt make sense I just want to return it as a string. It is only happening on this one field name, I can get every other field in the row but this one it gives me the error. I am getting an exception. The exception I am getting is No Dialect mapping for JDBC type: -1; nested exception is org.hibernate.HibernateException How do you query for a specific column on a row in hibernate?
