So it appears to be the specific combination of Java and that host, not a general problem. Ubuntu 10.04 beta, Sun JDK 1.6.0_19 (same problem in Ubuntu's bundled OpenJDK 6b18~pre4). • Problem displaying custom error page in ASP.NET MVC 2

  This is customErrors section from my web.config file <customErrors mode="On"> <error statusCode="500" redirect="HTTP500.aspx" /> </customErrors> HTTP500.aspx is the same as standard /Views/Shared/Error.aspx page. When I get HTTP 500 error I see this page: Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed. Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on the local server machine, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "RemoteOnly". To enable the details to be viewable on remote machines, please set "mode" to "Off". Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL. But when I change the above customErrors section like this: <customErrors mode="On"> <error statusCode="500" redirect="HTTP500.htm" /> </customErrors> then HTTP500.htm page is displayed when HTTP 500 error occurs. Why HTTP500.aspx page isn't displayed?

• Spring Framework 3 and session attributes

  I have form object that I set to request in GET request handler in my Spring controller. First time user enters to page, a new form object should be made and set to request. If user sends form, then form object is populated from request and now form object has all user givern attributes. Then form is validated and if validation is ok, then form is saved to database. If form is not validated, I want to save form object to session and then redirect to GET request handling page. When request is redirected to GET handler, then it should check if session contains form object. • ASPNET MVC - Override Html.TextBoxFor(model.property) with a new helper with same signature?

  I want to override Html.TextBoxFor() with my own helper that has the exact same signature (but a different namespace of course) - is this possible, and if so, how? The reason for this is that I have 100+ views in an already existing app, and I want to change the behaviour of TextBoxFor so that it outputs a maxLength=n attribute if the property has a [StringLength(n)] annotation. The code for automatically outputting maxlength=n is in this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2386365/maxlength-attribute-of-a-text-box-from-the-dataannotations-stringlength-in-mvc2. But my question is not a duplicate - I am trying creating a more generic solution: where the DataAnnotaion flows into the html automatically without any need for additional code by the person writing the view. In the referenced question, you have to change every single Html.TexBoxFor to a Html.CustomTextBoxFor. I need to do it so that the existing TextBoxFor()'s do not need to be changed - hence creating a helper with the same signature: change the behaviour of the helper method, and all existing instances will just work without any changes (100+ views, at least 500 TextBoxFor()s - don't want to manually edit that).   Hi, I'm trying to create "imagemaps" on an image in wpf using codebehind. Is this implementation complete/correct and safe for multiple threads?   I'm having a WCF Service that uses wsHttpBinding. It works great if I have limited functions say 90 Operation Contract in my IService but if add one more OperationContract than I'm unable to Update the Service reference nor i'm able to add that service reference. In this article it's mentioned that by changing those config files(i.e devenv.exe.config, WcfTestClient.exe.config and SvcUtil.exe.config) it will work but even including those bindings in those config files still that error pops up saying There was an error downloading 'http://10.0.3.112/MyService/Service1.svc/mex'. The request failed with HTTP status 400: Bad Request. Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'http://10.0.3.112/MyService/Service1.svc/mex'. There is an error in XML document (1, 89549). The maximum nametable character count quota (16384) has been exceeded while reading XML data. The nametable is a data structure used to store strings encountered during XML processing - long XML documents with non-repeating element names, attribute names and attribute values may trigger this quota. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxNameTableCharCount property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader. Line 1, position 89549. If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the solution and adding the service reference again. Any idea how to solve this????

According to the Adobe <object> / <embed> element documentation, there are variety of methods to do this: 1) Add a Flash parameter inside the <object> tag: <param name="play" value="false"> 2) Add the attribute play inside the <embed> tag: <embed ... play="false"> 3) Add the attribute flashvars inside the <embed> tag: <embed ... flashvars="play=false"> Which is awesome.   I have trouble to add new item to my table view with core data. Here is the brief logic in my codes. [tv insertRowsAtIndexPaths:insertIndexPaths withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationFade]; [self.tableView setEditing:YES animated:YES]; // enable editing mode } else { ...} } In this block of codes, I added a new item to my current managed object context first, and then I added a new row to my tv. I think that both the number of objects in my data source or context and the number of rows in my table view should be 1. However, I got an exception in the event of tabView:numberOfRowsInSection: Invalid update: invalid number of rows in section 0. The number of rows contained in an existing section after the update (0) must be equal to the number of rows contained in that section before the update (0), plus or minus the number of rows inserted or deleted from that section (1 inserted, 0 deleted). The exception was raised right after the delegate event: - (NSInteger) tableView:(UITableView *) tableView numberOfRawsInSection:(NSInteger) section { // fetchedResultsController is class member var NSFetchedResultsController id <NSFechedResultsSectionInfo> sectionInfo = [[fetchedResultsController sections] objectAtIndex: section]; NSInteger rows = [sectionInfo numberOfObjects]; return rows; } In debug mode, I found that the rows was still 0 and the event invoked after the the even of toggleEditing. It looks like that sectionInfo obtained from fetchedResultsController did not include the new entity object inserted. Not sure if I miss anything or steps? I am not sure how it works: to get the fetcedResultsController notified or reflect the change when a new entity is inserted into the current managed object context?

• ASP.NET MVC DropDownList SelectedValue works on Edit action, but not Create action

  I have the following code in my controller (for Edit and Create): model.Templates = new SelectList(PageManagementService.PageTemplateFetchList(), "PageId", "Title", 213); the "213" is an Id for one of the pages - just using it for testing. And this is in my view (for Edit and Create): <%= this.Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.Page.TemplateId, this.Model.Templates)%> <%= this.Model.Templates.SelectedValue %> When I go to the Create form, I see the dropdown list, but the tag with value="213" is not selected. I even output the SelectedValue to make sure it's 213 - and I see 213. When I go to the Edit form, I see the dropdown list, and the tag with value="213" is selected. On the Create form, none of the tags have a "selected" attribute. On the Edit form, the tag with value="213" has the "selected" attribute. Am I missing something? What could be causing this? Anyone see this behavior before?

• Vaadin table hide columns and container customization

  Hello I am testing a project, using Vaadin and Hibernate. I am trying to use the HbnContainer class to show data into table. The problem is that I do not want to show all the properties of the two classes in the table. For example: @Entity @Table(name="users") class User { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) private Long id; private String name; @ManyToOne(cascade=CascadeType.PERSIST) private UserRole role; //getters and setters } and a second class: @Entity @Table(name="user_roles") class UserRole { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) private Long id; private String name; //getters and setters } Next, I retrieve my data using the HbnContainer, and connect it to the table: HbnContainer container = new HbnContainer(User.class, app); table.setContainerDataSource(container); The Table will only display the columns from User, and for the "role" it will put the role id instead. How can I hide that column, and replace it with the UserRole.name ? I managed to use a ColumnGenerator() to get the string value in the table, for the UserRole - but I couldn't remove the previous column, with the numerical value. What am I missing? Or, what is the best way to "customize" your data, before displaying a table (if i want to show data in a table from more than one object type.. what do I do?) If I can't find a simple solution soon, I think I will just build the tables "by hand".. So, any advice on this matter? Thank you, Alex

  Hi Telerik's RADGrid, basing on their example on http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/grid/examples/dataediting/programaticlinqupdates/defaultcs.aspx Problem: I can insert and delete, however updating doesn't work. No error trapped. Data just doesn't change. From the code below it looks like Telerik Grid is doing some kung-fu behind the scenes to wire things up. I can't see the db receiving any update statements. • Access variables between nested JSP tags

  I would like to exchange information between two nested JSP tagx artifacts. To give an example: list.jspx <myNs:table data="${myTableData}"> <myNs:column property="firstName" label="First Name"/> <myNs:column property="lastName" label="Last Name"/> </myNs:table> Now, the table.tagx is supposed to display the data columns as defined in the nested column tags. The question is how do I get access to the values of the property and label attributes of the nested column tags from the table tag. I tried jsp:directive.variable but that seems only to work to exchange information between a jsp and a tag, but not between nested tags. Note, I would like to avoid using java backing objects for both the table and the column tags at all. I would also like to know how I can access an attribute defined by a parent tag (in this example I would like to access the contents of the data attribute in table.tagx from column.tagx). So it boils down to how can I access variables between nested JSP tags which are purely implemented through the tag definitions themselves (no Java TagHandler implementation desired)?

• VS2010 RC: Add new domain service class wizard entities list is empty

  Greetings! I am going through Brad Abrams' SL4 + RIA Services series. Right now I am here: http://blogs.msdn.com/brada/archive/2010/03/15/silverlight-4-ria-services-ready-for-business-exposing-data-from-entity-framework.aspx. When I get to the "add domain service" step and the wizard asks you what entities you want to expose, the list is empty. The dropdown that let's me choose my Entity data context is there and the "DishViewEntities" is selected but it is not showing the "Restaurant" and "Plate" entities in the list below like it does in the picture. I found this thread here: http://forums.silverlight.net/forums/t/168724.aspx. The poster has the same problem as me. I have restarted VS, rebooted, regenerated the EDMX, tried creating it in different folders. Still the list is empty. When it is empty, it will not allow me to select individual entities or generate the class. Any ideas from the community? Thanks!

  We are in the process of upgrading to WebSphere 7.0 on Windows 2008 R2. Our applications currently run on WebSphere 6.1 on Windows 2003. We use custom controls we wrote using JSF 1.1 in our applications.   I have created an editor template for representing selecting from a dynamic dropdown list and it works as it should except for validation, which I have been unable to figure out. If the model has the [Required] attribute set, I want that to invalidate if the default option is selected.   I'm trying to get this script to work. It's basically supposed to mirror two sets of folders and make sure they are exactly the same. If a folder is missing, the folder and it's content should be copied. Then the script should compare the DateModified attribute and only copy the files if the source file is newer than the destination file. I'm trying to get together a script that does exactly that. And so far I've been able to check all subfolder if they exist and then create them if they don't. Then I've been able to scan the top source folder for it's files and copy them if they don't exist or if the DateModified attribute is newer on the source file. What remains is basically scanning each subfolder for its files and copy them if they don't exist or if the DateModified stamp is newer.   My task is to change the ErrorMessage property of the DataAnnotation validation attribute in MVC2.0. For example I should be able to pass an ID instead of the actual error message for the Model property and use that ID to retrieve some content(error message) from a another service e.g database, and display that error message in the View instead of the ID. In order to do this I need to set the DataAnnotation validation attribute’s ErrorMessage property. [StringLength(2, ErrorMessage = "EmailContentID.")] [DataType(DataType.EmailAddress)] public string Email { get; set; } It seems like an easy task by just overriding the DataAnnotationsModelValidatorProvider ‘s protected override IEnumerable GetValidators(ModelMetadata metadata, ControllerContext context, IEnumerable attributes) However it seems to be a complicated enough. a. MVC DatannotationsModelValidator’s ErrorMessage property is read only. So I cannot set anything here b. System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotationErrorMessage property(get and set) which is already set in MVC DatannotationsModelValidator so we cannot set again. • Deploying an MVC 2.0 .Net 4.0 application to Windows Server 2003

  I've spent the past couple of nights on this, and have come to the conclusions that I'm doing something wrong! Basically, I have my .Net 4.0 MVC 2.0 application deployed to my 2003 Server and it's constantly giving me the following error: The value for the 'compilerVersion' attribute in the provider options must be 'v4.0' or later if you are compiling for version 4.0 or later of the .NET Framework. To compile this Web application for version 3.5 or earlier of the .NET Framework, remove the 'targetFramework' attribute from the element of the Web.config file. I also have the .Net 3.5 MVC 1.0 application also deployed to the same server (from before the upgrade to .Net 4.0), and it works absolutely fine. I have re-run through Phil Haack's post on IIS6, making the necessary changes for .Net 4.0, but no luck. I have been through the steps in the British Developer's post too, but no joy. I have also tried the steps outlined in Johan's blog post, but the settings he mentions were already enabled. Obviously, I can't simply upgrade to a 2008 box, nor do I want to downgrade my software back to < 4.0 - any other ideas?

• NetBeans generates JpaController with errors

  Hi, I am using NetBeans 6.8 for building Spring MVC application. Techonologies : Spring MVC 2.5 Derby DB Hibernate for ORM GlassFish v3 server I use New JPA Controller Classes from Entity Classes for adding ORM file. It is supposed to generate class for managing queries with my POJO files. Problem is, that NetBeans generates following code, and won't compile : public int getBrandCount() { EntityManager em = getEntityManager(); try { CriteriaQuery cq = em.getCriteriaBuilder().createQuery(); Root<Brand> rt = cq.from(Brand.class); cq.select(em.getCriteriaBuilder().count(rt)); Query q = em.createQuery(cq); return ((Long) q.getSingleResult()).intValue(); } finally { em.close(); } } At the picture, there is NetBeans error : It looks like method getCriteriaBuilder of Entity Manager Interface is unimplemented. • JSP compilation error upon changing XML parser to Xerces

  All, I'm working on a java webapp that we deploy in the Resin web app server. I have been doing some XML parsing for a new part of the application, and realized that our app was using Resin classes to do the parsing. I wanted to get away from that and use something more standard for a number of reasons, so I set these system properties in my resin config file (and added the xerces jar to my classpath): <system-property javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory="org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl"/> <system-property javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory="org.apache.xerces.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl"/> And, now I'm getting JSP compilation errors on several pages (I guess Resin's built in parser was more lenient). The error reads: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The value of attribute "title" associated with an element type "display:column" must not contain the '<' character. And, the 'display:column' tag on some pages does indeed contain markup in the 'title' attribute. Here's an example: <display:column scope='col' class=" appealColorBG selectAllWidth" title="<span class='centerThis'><label for='selectAll'>Select All</label><br /> <input type='checkbox' name='selectAll' id='selectAll' onClick='selectAllCheckboxes();'/></span> " > That's some ugly JSP code, I know, but it's also code that's already in production, so I'm hesitant to change it. Does anyone know of a way that I can set xerces so that it will allow the JSP to compile as is?
