  • Improve backup performance by watching files added/modified in given directories?

    - by OverTheRainbow
I use SyncbackSE on Windows to back up files between two hard drives daily. Every time the application starts, it scans every single file in the directories that it watches before copying files that were added or modified. To improve performance, I was wondering if there were a Windows backup application that would hook into Windows to keep tracks of files that were added/modified in given directories, so that it only needs to go through this list when it comes time for a backup. Thank you.

  • Find rows that match multiple (two) criteria

    - by Scott Sanders
I am trying to get a list of items that match on two criteria. DATE PRODUCT CHANNEL DEC 13 Cat Chow DRUG NOV 13 Pupperoni DRUG DEC 13 Meow Mix DRUG DEC 13 Jerky Treats DRUG This is the data from A1 to C5. I want all the product sold on DEC 13 and in the DRUG channel. This is the formula that I have now, which is only bringing back the first example. INDEX($B$2:$B$5, MATCH(1, ("DRUG"=$C$2:$C$5)*("DEC 13"=$A$2:$A$5), 0) )

  • Ubuntu server users question

    - by Camran
I have read this article: https://help.ubuntu.com/9.04/serverguide/C/user-management.html But it doesn't go into depth with the privileges section. I need to know how to set privileges of me (as a user). I am the only user, but I want access to everything, but I don't want to manage my VPS logged in as root. So I am creating a username. Anybody have a list of privileges, what they mean and how to set them? Thanks

  • Cost of running colour laser printers.

    - by Ian Ringrose
Has anyone got a good list of the costs of running colour laser printers, both for colour and black that take into account different usage volumes. E.g if the dram needs replacing after 20,000 pages, but I am only do 10,000 in the next 3 years, I don’t care about the cost of a new dram. So a simple “cost per page” figure is each printer is not good enough to be useful in real life. (A spread sheet / website that I could type my own usage values into would be great.)

  • Is there a find and replace application with multiple rules?

    - by Joe
I'm looking for a search and replace tool that takes a list of rules and either a file (or directory) and runs those rules on the files. I have a bunch of different things that need to be changed in many files, and I'd like to be able to run all the rules in one shot. I was hoping I could put the rules separate file, and use the same set of rules over and over again. Does such a tool exist?

  • Removing folders from sycn parternships in Windows 7

    - by KE.
A while back I set my computer up to sync folders on a shared network drive. I didn't choose my folders carefully and ended up with a huge amount of files to sync, which took forever. I would like to stop sync on those folders, then later select some smaller subfolders to sync. I believe this means I first must delete the existing sync partnerships, but there is no "Delete" option when I list them in Sync Center. How can I delete existing sync partnerships?

    - by anasnakawa
I have a case that I would like to trigger an automatic download for a list of 114 file (recitation) for each reader, for example if i want to download the recitations for a reader called abkr, the urls for the files will look like the following.. http://server6.mp3quran.net/abkr/001.mp3 http://server6.mp3quran.net/abkr/002.mp3 ... http://server6.mp3quran.net/abkr/113.mp3 http://server6.mp3quran.net/abkr/114.mp3 simply these are Quran recitations, so they are always have a total of 114 is there an easy way to loop that using command line on Windows ?

  • Any software to remove $NtUninstallxxxxx

    - by Michael
Any commercial or free software to give me a list and descriptions of patch uninstalls and let me remove selected ones? I've tried Windows XP Update Remover, but seems it doesn't provide any information for majority of items and I have to delete one by one... I also know I can do it manually, but just wondering if there is more professional software to make it more accurate and quick.

  • What desktop boards support VT-D or IOMMU?

    - by Jeff Shattock
I'm looking for a desktop board that supports either VT-D (Intel) or IOMMU (AMD) technology. This is the IO virtualization technology, not VT-x for CPU virtualization. I've found a list of chipsets that are purported to have this, but every board I look at, the vendor has decided to not support that feature. I would really prefer a desktop board over a server board for this. Does anyone have a specific model that is known to support this technology?

  • batch file to strip numbers from filename and pad to two digits

    - by ss2k
I have a text file with a list of server names (servers.txt) that looks something like this: server1 server2 server3 I have a feeling this can be done with the FOR command as I use that to perform an action on each name in the file, but I'm not quite sure how to use the delimiters to accomplish this. for /F "tokens=*" %%G in (servers.txt) do ( SET machinenum = <magic here> ECHO %machinenum% ) expected output 01 02 03

  • How do I remove the selected tag filter when searching for Unanswered questions on Superuser?

    - by orangechicken
I've been looking for unanswered questions trying to build some reputation here. Once I select a tag filter in the sidebar, I'm shown all of the questions with that tag. Choosing more tags makes the filter more specific and choosing one of the tags from the set I've already chosen replaces the whole set with that one tag. But, how do I remove that lone tag so that I can return to the full list of Unanswered questions?

  • How to set start screen tiles' language in Windows 8

    - by Robert Koritnik
I've installed English Windows 8 x64 on my notebook and selected Slovenian as locale during installation. The problem I'm having now is that my tiles on start screen display in Slovenian even though my installation is English. I've also edited languages, adding English (British) on the list and putting it on top of Slovenian, but tiles still use Slovenian... All previous Windows versions were able to have English UI with a particular locale for input, time, dates, currency etc. How can I do the same in Windows 8?

  • Get changes to local config files with apt

    - by tstenner
When I'm updating a package and a new configuration file is shipped, I'm asked whether I want to keep my version, install the new one or view the differences. As I have to document an older server, I'd like to start by explaining what I did (and why), how can I get a list of changes to local config files?

  • Undo clicking chrome never save password on the mac

    - by IlDan
Sometimes you may want to undo your choice of "Never for this site" when Chrome asks if you want to save a password. But on the mac clicking on the "Show saved passwords" in the Preferences opens the Keychain Access app and you have no way to remove that site from the exceptions list. This is obviously a bug. I suppose that deleting all saved passwords will do but I don't want to delete them all. Is there any other workaround? (Chrome 6.0.472.63)
