In XCode - Is there a way of running just one test(one test case or preferably one test method). What I do today is to run the 'Test' task which runs all tests and takes up a lot of time.
Thanks
I have implemented a custom wizard control in C# windows forms by creating a base form which has the shared components and then making child forms for each step of the process. I then have a class which hides/shows the child forms when you move from one step to another. The problem is that flickering is bad when moving between forms. Does anyone know a way to either keep this method and reduce the flicker or refactor it to make it use a single form (which should definitely reduce the flicker)?
I have a Database named CarsType.accdb there are four fields in the data base Item_Name, Item_Num, Item_Qty, Item_Cost.
I am able to get the database to display my data in VisualBasic but I am not sure how to get the total cost to appear in my label (lblTotalCost). I prefer doing it in VB versus writing in my access program. All I am wanting to do it multiply item_qty * Item_Cost How would I go about doing that?
I am in need of an outline on teaching VB6/VBA to some co-workers. The material I am pretty confident I can fill in, just need a sense of how to order the class material. Its not going to be hard core programming [nix the VB6 jokes please :) ] but do want to touch the basics. Any free outlines or even entire presentations out there that I can use? I've been looking but nothing concrete so far.
thanks
My XP machine has become terribly slow and I want to identify the application at fault. It seems to be related to disk access rather than processor hogging. I can look at the task manager to get a good idea but it's not ideal. I was wondering if there was some application that can monitor all aspects of processes effectively. Is Process Explorer my only hope?
I happened upon this in an NHibernate class definition:
public class SQLiteConfiguration : PersistenceConfiguration<SQLiteConfiguration>
So this class inherits from a base class that is parameterized by... the derived class? My head just exploded.
Can someone explain what this means and how this pattern is useful?
(This is NOT an NHibernate-specific question, by the way.)
Hi,
i don't understand this little thing:
Suppose, we have "Person" model
class Person < ActiveRecord::Base
end
Why Person.all works ?
Person.all.each { |p| do_something }
This syntax tells us, that we have Person class-object instanciated somewhere ?
Or is it some convention over configuration case ?
Please, have a look at: http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/base-css.html
There are many examples like this one:
if you look closer to the block borders, you can see that the gray block is under the white one. Using the browser's developer tools you can see that both boxes have an inherited z-index: auto;
I can't reproduce this effect on my website (without using z-index).
So, my question is: Why is the gray block under the white one?
With the help of people on stackoverflow I was able to get the following working code of the simples GUI countdown (it just displays a window counting down seconds). My main problem with this code is the invokeLater stuff.
As far as I understand the invokeLater send a task to the event dispatching thread (EDT) and then the EDT execute this task whenever it "can" (whatever it means). Is it right?
To my understanding the code works like that:
In the main method we use invokeLater to show the window (showGUI method). In other words, the code displaying the window will be executed in the EDT.
In the main method we also start the counter and the counter (by construction) is executed in another thread (so it is not in the event dispatching thread). Right?
The counter is executed in a separate thread and periodically it calls updateGUI. The updateGUI is supposed to update GUI. And GUI is working in the EDT. So, updateGUI should also be executed in the EDT. It is why the code for the updateGUI is inclosed in the invokeLater. Is it right?
What is not clear to me is why we call the counter from the EDT. Anyway it is not executed in the EDT. It starts immediately a new thread and the counter is executed there. So, why we cannot call the counter in the main method after the invokeLater block?
import javax.swing.JFrame;
import javax.swing.JLabel;
import javax.swing.SwingUtilities;
public class CountdownNew {
static JLabel label;
// Method which defines the appearance of the window.
public static void showGUI() {
JFrame frame = new JFrame("Simple Countdown");
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
label = new JLabel("Some Text");
frame.add(label);
frame.pack();
frame.setVisible(true);
}
// Define a new thread in which the countdown is counting down.
public static Thread counter = new Thread() {
public void run() {
for (int i=10; i>0; i=i-1) {
updateGUI(i,label);
try {Thread.sleep(1000);} catch(InterruptedException e) {};
}
}
};
// A method which updates GUI (sets a new value of JLabel).
private static void updateGUI(final int i, final JLabel label) {
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(
new Runnable() {
public void run() {
label.setText("You have " + i + " seconds.");
}
}
);
}
public static void main(String[] args) {
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
public void run() {
showGUI();
counter.start();
}
});
}
}
In task manager, I am only able to see the resources w3wp.exe is using, but this is too vague.
Can I see the resources each website and app pool is using? Would also be nice if I can see what pages are taking up the most resources (all in real-time). Does anything exist like this?
So i want to join strings with relative urls in Javascript.
base url = "http://www.adress.com/more/evenmore"
with
relative url = "../../adress" = "http://www.adress.com/adress"
relative url = "../adress" = "http://www.adress.com/more/adress"
What would be the best way? I was thinking of using regexp and checking
how many "../" i find, then subtracting that amount from the baseurl and adding them to what is left.
Hi
Why inheritance is not provided for static classes in C#? I know C# has a good reason for everything he implements or doesn't implement. I just wondered, what’s that “good reason” here? semantically, what would be happened if I was able to write a static class that inheritances from another static one? is this an ODD issue? or just programming?
I'm not necessarily for Apple, but I am sort of against the need for 3rd party vendors, if a browser can accomplish the same task, efficiently.
What are the advantages of HTML5 over HTML4, will there be a new XHTML, and will HTML5 have any interactive features that may replace Flash?
Programming challenge: Given a set of integers [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] I would like to generate all possible k-combinations in ascending size order in Java; e.g.
[1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [1, 2], [1, 3] ... [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
It is fairly easy to produce a recursive solution that generates all combinations and then sort them afterwards but I imagine there's a more efficient way that removes the need for the additional sort.
I have a model with a completed:boolean column that I'd like override so I can add some conditional code.
I've never override an ActiveRecord attribute before and wanted to know if the method below is good practice?
class Article < ActiveRecord::Base
def completed=(b)
write_attribute(:completed, b)
# IF b is true then do something
end
end
Given a PDF document, is it possible to generate a XSL-FO (FOP) template?
Obviously, this would be a one-time thing - the generated template would just be a starting point for creating a proper template that pulls in the appropriate data.
For me, the ideal tool for doing so would be a Java-based one and should be executable from the command line or through an ANT task. Failing that, it would be something that runs on Linux and MacOS X.
Hi all,
I have barely any experience with WinForms, but I'm fairly sure that this is a simple task. I just need to enable and disable the Enabled property of a textbox based on the SelectedIndex of a ComboBox.
Can this be done in the designer using DataBindings, or am I required to write a handler of some kind?
Hello,
I have a very basic knowledge of the web programming, and I couldn't figure out the answer to this question.
Typically, a cookie is used to identify a session in web applications. However, as far as I know, multiple browser windows share cookies. In that case, how does web applications distinguish between the tabs?
i am new to windows services programming. I have confusion about what to set the Account type while writing a windows services.
how to choose or how to determine to which account type we need to set while writing a service.
If I set up a central Mercurial Repository where certain people are allowed to push to it, what convenient way can I monitor the changes going into that repository?
I'm used to using SVN-Monitor for Subversion. It runs in the task-bar and lets me know whenever something new has been checked in to the repository.
Is there a similar solution for Mercurial ?
I have simple task concerning 'new' operator. I need to create array of 10 chars and then input those chars using 'cin'. Should it look like this ? :
char c = new char[10];
for(int i=0; i < 10; i++)
{
cin >> char[i] >> endl;
}

Hello,
I am trying to implement SHA2 encryption instead SHA1.
For this, I know that bit number between these two hash algorithms are different and it confuses me.
How can this be achieved and at what parts do I need to make required changes.
I can use any open source library from Java, Python and any other major programming language.
