  • Jabber .net rostertree error

    Hi, Whenever I add the rostertree control to my form, I can see that the PresenceManager and RosterManager property values for it have this error listed: "Unable to cast object of type 'System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewTextBoxColumn' to type 'System.ComponentModel.Component'." I can compile the solution and all but this error keeps popping up randomly. Can someone advice when this may happen. I'm thinking it has to do with the controls not being added properly. I'm using Visual Studio 2008. Thanks.

    Hello to everybody. I've found a very good article about how to use EntLib Validation Block for server validation in MVC 2. But as there pointed out The current design of EntLib’s Validation Application Block uses the Composite pattern; that is, when we ask for validation for an object, it returns back a single validator object that contains a list of all the validation work to be done. While this is very convenient from a normal usage scenario, the unfortunate side-effect is that we can’t “peek inside” to see what the individual validations are that it’s doing, and therefore can’t generate the appropriate client-side validation hints. So how is it possible to implement client side validation for EntLib? Is there work around?

    Hi, I'm using C# to send JSON to a PHP-Script, like this: string json = "{"; json += "\"prop\":\"some text\""; json += "}"; PostSubmitter post = new PostSubmitter(); post.Url = "http://localhost/synch/notein.php"; post.Type = PostSubmitter.PostTypeEnum.Post; post.PostItems.Add("note", json); post.Post(); Of course I'll have to escape the inner quotes, but they get sended to the script! To make things worse: There is text, which already has quotation marks, so those must be escaped to be valid JSON. In this case I want the backslashes to be transmitted. Any idea to accomplish this?

    Good afternoon, I am generating a typed dataset from a stored procedure. The stored procedure may contain something like: select t1.colA, t2.colA AS t2colA from t1 inner join t2 on t1.key = t2.key When I generate the typed dataset, the dataset knows whether t1.colA allows NULLs, but it always puts FALSE in AllowDBNull for t2.colA even if t2.colA allows NULL. Is this because the column is aliased? Is there any way, from SQL, to hint to VS that the column allows NULL? We currently have to go in and update the column's AllowDBNull if we regenerate the table. Thanks in advance. Christian

    i have a controlled called AppController. i have 2 actions: Details and Delete both pass in int id as the parameter to the action WHen i go to: mysite/App/Details/100 I can catch it in the controller details action but when i go to mysite/App/Delete/100 The breakpoint never hits and i get this in the browser: Server Error in '/' Application. The resource cannot be found. Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.   • getting the list of all functions executed like call stack in asp.net

    Hi, I am having trouble with debugging one of the problems that I am having in our website. This is the problem. I have a webpage that contains the photo of an employee and information related to the employee. When the user logins to our website, we are storing the details of the employee in session. I am setting the image url for the photo of an employee as follows. imgEEPhoto.ImageUrl = imgPhoto.aspx?Company=XXXX&Empno=YYYY. Inside the page imgPhoto.aspx, I am checking if the session is alive for that user. when I login to the page that has the employee photo sometimes the photo is not displayed. It is because I am checking whether the session is alive inside the imgPhoto.aspx page. sometimes the session is alive and sometimes the session is not alive. It looks like there is some function that is setting the session to null asynchronously. I am not knowing how to track that function. so I am thinking that inside the imgPhoto.aspx page, if I can get the list of all functions that have been executed so far, I could track the function that is resetting the session. Is there a way to find this? If there is no another way to debug this problem, please let me know. Thanks, sridhar.

    I have created a C#/.Net application using visual studio. I have also created an installer project that puts out two files: An MSI file Setup.exe file In my installer project properties I have setup .Net 3.5 as a prerequisite. What I would like my installer to do as as follows: Put out a single file (MSI/exe/whatever) that also includes .Net framework prerequisite The installer should check whether .Net framework is installed on the target machine. If not, it should install it from its own bundled copy. Right now my installer sends people to the web for getting .Net. This is not the user experience I want. Thanks for your help. -Raj

  • .NET CF -- Set Form height based on InputPanel state

    Hi, So, I've got a C# project for Windows Mobile phones and I'm trying to work with the InputPanel. Specifically, I've got one form with a stack of Labels and TextBoxes that collect user input. I have an InputPanel that alerts me when the user opens the SIP. Everything works fine so far. When I get messages that the SIP status has changed, I want to change the height of the Form, which doesn't seem possible. Here's my event handler for my InputPanel: void m_InputPanel_EnabledChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { // :( this assignment operation doesn't work and it doesn't this.ClientSize = inputPanel1.VisibleDesktop.Size; // doesn't work this.Size = inputPanel1.VisibleDesktop.Size; // assignment operation works, but isn't very useful this.visibleHeight = inputPanel1.VisibleDesktop.Height; this.InitializeUI(); } When I say that the assignment operation doesn't work, I mean that the values don't change in the debugger. I can understand that maybe I can't change the size of a Form, but I can't understand why trying to change it wouldn't throw an exception, or give a compiler error. I have my Form WindowState set to Normal instead of Maximized, but it doesn't make a difference. Also, I have read http://www.christec.co.nz/blog/archives/42 this page that tells me how I'm supposed to do this, but I can't easily put all of my controls in a Panel because I'm using a bunch of custom stuff to do alpha background controls.

The following code doesn't work: wb.Navigate(url, null, null, "Cookie: " + cookie + "\n"); What am I doing wrong? Will I have to use InternetSetCookie? This doesn't seem like the best solution.     Hello All, I am using IIS 7 on Server 2008. I just tried migrating my app from an older platform - everything works fine, except the email feature. This is my config: < mailSettings > < smtp from="[email protected]" deliveryMethod="Network" > < network host="mail.xyz.com" port="25" userName="[email protected]" password="123" /> < / smtp > < /mailSettings > Whenever I need to send an email I use: SmtpClient smtp = new SmtpClient(); smtp.Send(email); The funny thing is I get absolutely no errors, however the email is never sent. The outbound firewall ruleset allows SMTP traffic. Any idea what I did wrong?

  • SharePoint 2010 / ASP.Net Integration - Looking for advice

    I have been Googling a problem that I have with trying to integrate the web application that I am working on with SharePoint 2010. The web application is a wiki style tool that allows users to log in via forms authentication or WIA against Active Directory and create content for themselves and others. What we would like to do is to allow a user have a page with the content they have created in our web application mixed in with content that they have living on the SharePoint server. For example, they may want to see a list of documents that they have on the SharePoint server mixed in with some of their content. To accomplish this, we would like to take the credentials the user has logged into our web application with (for example MYDOMAIN\jsmith) and be able to query SharePoint for the documents of that same user (MYDOMAIN\jsmith) WITHOUT the user being prompted to re-enter their credentials to access the SharePoint server (we are trying to avoid the double-hop problem) We have come up with some options for how we want to do this, but we are unsure of what the best approach is. For example, we could - Have a global user, shared by all users to get information we need from SharePoint. The downside is that we cannot filter SharePoint content to a particular user - We could store the users credentials when they log in, but that would only work for users authenticating via forms auth and would be a security issue that some users/clients would not like - Writing a SharePoint extension using WCF to allow us to access the information we need, however we'd still have the issue of figuring out how to impersonate the user we want. Neither of these options are ideal and in our investigation we came across the Claims Authentication/STS option which seems like it is trying to solve the problem we are having. So my question is, based on what I have written, is Claims/STS the best approach for us? We have not been able to find much direction on how to use this method to call into SharePoint from a Web Application and pass along the existing credentials. Does anyone have any experience with any of these issues?

    If I use routing with 2 query parameters, like this: System.Web.Routing.RouteTable.Routes.MapPageRoute("HomeRoute", "home/{f1}/{f2}", "~/Home.aspx"); My image does not appear on my Home.aspx page: <img src="~/img/img.jpg" /> or <img src="img/img.jpg" /> But it does appear when I access the http://localhost:3760/Website/Home.aspx URL I tried using Routing.Ignore with no luck. I look for a solution wich should work for an unlimited number of subfolders: "home/{f1}/{f2}/.../{fn}"

    After searching a lot i did not get any answers and finally i had to get back to you. Below i am explaining my problem in detail. It's too long, so please don't quit reading. I have explained my problem in simple language. I have been developing an asp.net mvc project. I am using standard ASP.NET roles and membership. Everything is working fine but the remember me functionality doesn't work at all. I am listing all the details of work. Hope you guys can help me out solve this problem. I simply need this: I need user to login to web application. During login they can either login with remember me or without it. If user logs in with remember me, i want browser to remember them for long time, let's say atleast one year or considerably long time. The way they do it in www.dotnetspider.com,www.codeproject.com,www.daniweb.com and many other sites. If user logs in without remember me, then browser should allow access to website for some 20 -30 minutes and after that their session should expire. Their session should also expire when user logs in and shuts down the browser without logging out. Note: I have succesfully implemented above functionality without using standard asp.net roles and membership by creating my own talbes for user and authenticating against my database table, setting cookie and sessions in my other projects. But for this project we starting from the beginning used standard asp.net roles and membership. We thought it will work and after everything was build at the time of testing it just didn't work. and now we cannot replace the existing functionality with standard asp.net roles and membership with my own custom user tables and all the stuff, you understand what i am taling about. Either there is some kind of bug with standard asp.net roles and membership functionality or i have the whole concept of standard asp.net roles and membership wrong. i have stated what i want above. I think it's very simple and reasonable. What i did Login form with username,password and remember me field. My setting in web.config: in My controller action, i have this: FormsAuth.SignIn(userName, rememberMe); public void SignIn(string userName, bool createPersistentCookie) { FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userName, createPersistentCookie); } Now the problems are following: I have already stated in above section "I simply need this". user can successfully log in to the system. Their session exists for as much minutes as specified in timeout value in web.config. I have also given a sample of my web.config. In my samplem if i set the timeout to 5 minutes,then user session expires after 5 minutes, that's ok. But if user closes the browser and reopen the browser, user can still enter the website without loggin in untill time specified in "timeout" has not passed out. The sliding expiration for timeout value is also working fine. Now if user logs in to the system with remember me checked, user session still expires after 5 minutes. This is not good behaviour, is it?. I mean to say that if user logs in to the system with remember me checked he should be remembered for a long time untill he doesn't logs out of the system or user doesn't manually deletes all the cookies from the browser. If user logs in to the system without remember me checked his session should expire after the timeout period values specified in web.config and also if users closes the browser. The problem is that if user closes the browser and reopens it he can still enter the website without logging in. I search internet a lot on this topic, but i could not get the solution. In the blog post(http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2005/11/08/430011.aspx) made by Scott Gu on exactly the same topic. The users are complaining about the same thing in their comments ut there is no easy solution given in by Mr. Scott.     I have a jquery Image slider in a content page that worked fine. Once I converted it into a asp repeater the first image of the repeater would display twice, then run normally. Any idea on why the repeater is causing this? I think I discovered that the first image link <ItemTemplate> <a href='<%#Eval("Url")%>'> <img src='<%#Eval("Image")%>' alt="Spring Break 2011" rel='<h3><%#Eval("Title")%></h3><%#Eval("Caption")%>'/></a> </ItemTemplate> I have to place class="show" in the first item only. Does anyone know how to implement this during the first time it goes through. Hmm

    So, the problem is such as this: I have a method that does stuff and updates a progress bar. If I call the method after the form is fully loaded (i.e.: by assigning it to a button on the form) everything works fine. The problem is that I need the method to start working as soon as the form loads, by itself, so I would place it in the Form_Load method. The problem is that even though I call Application.DoEvents() right before calling that method from within Form_Load, the form doesn't show up until the method has completed everything. As I said, if I let the form load first and call the method from another UI element for instance, everything works fine. Thanks in advance.

    I'm localizing application and need to provide JSON representation of local and global resources for JS part of application for all views. My current idea is I'd implement HtmlHelper extension methods like GetLocalResourcesJSON/GetGlobalResourcesJSON which should encode all resource keys+values and return them JSON encoded as string (I'd implement caching as well). At the moment I'm able to retrieve single specific key from global or local resource belonging to current view (using httpContext.GetGlobalResourceObject/GetLocalResourceObject), but I'm not able to find out how to retrieve whole resource object and iterate all its keys+values. Is there any method how to achieve this? it looks like ResourceProviderFactory could be the the key to this problem, but it's not accessible publicly anywhere. I could instantiate ResourceExpressionBuilder and use reflection to retrieve the provider using GetLocal/GlobalResourceProvider() methods, but I don't like using reflection here at all...
