• Standardize word macro usage within the team

  Hi, I have a team of 10 persons who work on word documents, they format them as per our defined guidlines. To complete the work fast we have created a macro that has been updated on all the machines. This macro corrects the font, size and formatting. How can I ensure and implement that nobody can change/replace or delete this macro from their system? In case this happens I should get an alert. • jquery get width of previous image

  So i cant get the jquery correct for this one, whatever i try it returns the wrong width. I wish to make the image within the "img-shadow" div the same size as the image right before it. • Unable to center text in IE but works in firefox

  Can somebody point out where I'm going wrong with the following code. Text inside td elements need to be centered except for Summary and Experience. This only appears to work in Firefox/chrome. In IE8 all td text are displayed as left-justified. No matter what I try it doesn't center it. Any particular reason why this would happen? • Can I insert a style tag and contents from a view with CakePHP?

  From what I can see, CakePHP makes it easy to link to a CSS file in a view with the following: echo $html->css('my-css-filename',null,array(),FALSE); But what if I don't want to exclusively use hardcoded files? How can I get it to create a style tag with some dynamically generated rules in e.g. <style type="text/css" media="all">p {font-size:1.5em}</style> I am trying to do this in a view file, I'd like the CSS to be placed in the head tag, and I'm using CakePHP 1.2.7

• Coordinating 3 instances of Cycle on one page

  I have 3 images, all same size, across top of page horizontally. I'd like to use Cycle to fade each instance very slowly, but I'd also like make sure the transitions do not start all at the same time, but are staggered. Is there somewhere this can be specified? If anyone can recommend a very slow fade rate, plus a way to prevent all 3 from fading/regenerating at the same time, I'd be very grateful! I assume I can run 3 instances of cycle using different classes for each container, and assure that no two photos are the same by "stacking" them in different orders within the divs ... yes?   Hi. I'm building a simple app and trying to test DB result output. But unfortunately all I'm getting is an array of size 0. • how to create a plot with customized points in R?

  I know I can create a plot with line and dots using the type = "o" argument in the plot command. I would like some more control over this -- I want to be able to draw the "o" as full dots, with black border and fill-in color of my choice, of customized size and of a different color than the line. Same for the line, I want to make it thicker, and of my choice of color. How would I go on about doing that? What I found until now is just a plain plot(y, type= "o") which is too poor for my needs. I am not interested in using ggplot, but instead use the internal plot library of R. Any help appreciated.

• Where should I declare a list of 5,000+ words?

  I am writing a game in python in which I must periodically pull a random word from a list of words. When I prototyped my game I declared a word_list = ['cat','dog','rat','house'] of ten words at the top of one of my modules. I then use choice(word_list) to get a random word. However, I must must change this temporary hack into something more elegant because I need to increase the size of the word list to 5,000+ words. If I do this in my current module it will look ridiculous. Should I put all of these words in a flat txt file, and then read from that file as I need words? If so, how would I best do that? Put each word an a separate line and then read one random line? I'm not sure what the most efficient way is.

While, it's working it leaves an awkward horizontal scroll of about 50px on right side. Which is lot more prominent in smaller resolutions. • Rails - set POST request limit (file upload)

  I am building a file uploader for Rails, using CarrierWave. I am pretty happy about it's API, except that I don't seem to be able to cut file uploads that exceed a limit on the fly. I found this plugin for validation, but the problem is that it happens after the upload is completed. It is completely unacceptable in my case, as any user could take the site down by uploading a huge file. So, I figure that the way would be to use some Rack configuration or middleware that will limit POST body size as it receives. I am hosting on Heroku, as context. *I am aware of https://github.com/dwilkie/carrierwave_direct but it doesn't solve my issue as I have to resize first and discard the original large image.

• How do database servers decide which order to return rows without any "order by" statements?

  Kind of a whimsical question, always something I've wondered about and I figure knowing why it does what it does might deepen my understanding a bit. Let's say I do "SELECT TOP 10 * FROM TableName". In short timeframes, the same 10 rows come back, so it doesn't seem random. They weren't the first or last created. In my massive sample size of...one table, it isn't returning the min or max auto-incrementing primary key value. I also figure the problem gets more complex when taking joins into account. My database of choice is MSSQL, but I figure this might be an interesting question regardless of the platform.

I am currently doing assignment 3, and am having trouble getting a bit of information from the View sent to the View Controller. I believe I have set up the whole delegation thing correctly, so the question really is to how to get my View Controller to see a bit of information (such as self.bounds.size.width), which is a property that only the View has.   I have a master and slave database running on different nodes. The master DB is subjected to huge no. of inserts/updates. The master DB size is close to 6 GB, while the log files are now occupying a space of more than 120 GB. I am running out of disk space and need to get rid of the log files. Will deleting the log files in anyway affect the slave DB ? Presently, the slave is just a couple of seconds behind the master.   I have a vector<unsigned int> vec of size n. Each element in vec is in the range [0, m], no duplicates, and I want to sort vec. Is it possible to do better than O(n log n) time if you're allowed to use O(m) space? In the average case m is much larger than n, in the worst case m == n. Ideally I want something O(n). I get the feeling that there's a bucket sort-ish way to do this: unsigned int aux[m]; aux[vec[i]] = i; Somehow extract the permutation and permute vec. I'm stuck on how to do 3. In my application m is on the order of 16k. However this sort is in the inner loops and accounts for a significant portion of my runtime.

• A Form(?) appears briefly outside of Form1 when adding a control to it

  I have a program which creates new Controls (actually - Form's with TopLevel = false) and puts them on a Panel which is on Form1. For some reason, this is usually followed by what seems like a Form appearing very briefly outside of Form1. It's hard to tell exactly what's happening because it's so brief. Perhaps it's Form1 moving there (and changing its size) and then returning. Or perhaps it's the Form that's being put on Form1 that appears there (though how could that happen at all? It's out of Form1!). I couldn't find anything in the code that might cause it, and the whole code is way too long to post here. (The relevant code is simply: MyPanel.Controls.Add(newForm);.) Is there any known bug that might cause this?

  I know that I can do this in Rails: <%="hello" %> but is there any way to do this <% echo "hello" %> and get it to show up in the response? I have tried response.write which almost worked, but did not... Edit: print or puts do not do it, because I do not want to write to the console. I want to write to the browser/HTTP client.
